I love ordering pupusas here. They have the steamiest ones I've ever had, which is how I love to eat them. I always order mixtas and the cheese ones because of how stringy it gets when you first bite into one. I don't usually have anything with my pupusas but their sauce is so tasty that I can't help but try it every time I visit. The staff there are super helpful and friendly as well. This place was nice. I went with my family after another event and were seated quickly. There werent a lot of people which was nice thag it wasnt full. The waitress took our drink order pretty quick. I ordered an horchata and it was ok. It felt very powdery but the taste was spot on. I didnt order much as i wasnt too hungry but i got a pork chicharrón with tostones. The food was goo but it did take a while for it to come to the table. The service could have been a bit better. The waitress did take her time coming to the table. Went to have breakfast with my family, got there 30 minutes after they open, we place our food order for 8 people, the food took more than an hour for the food to come out, we kept asking about our food wile other people got their food ahead of us. Came in and was seated quickly which is definitely a plus. Ordered a shrimp cocktail, steak and beans. The steak and beans were good. The steak was a decent size and well seasoned. The rice and beans were good. Where I take away points is in two places. The shrimp cocktail wasn't very good, the sauce was a little bland and the shrimp wasn't as chilled as it should be. The other point is it was cold in the restaurant. It feels as if the windows and door aren't well shut or insulated letting the cold and in and making the food get colder faster. Upon first walking in, you won't expect much from Continental but don't let their lack of decór fool you. Their Salvadorean cuisine is mouthwatering good. I always get the same thing when I come partly because because I am a creature of habit and partly because if something is this good, why change it? I'd recommend ordering two pupusas: una revuelta (1 mixed) y una con queso (and 1 with cheese). Pupusas are lightly pan fried, corn or rice flour based tortilla patties stuffed with meat and cheese, pork and beans or just cheese. This dish comes with a side of shredded cabbage in a homemade vinegar & lime dressing. So. Effing. Good. Then I would recommend an order of Tamales de Elote. There are two in one order and perfect for sharing. This is a corn based, buttery tamale served with cream on the side that has a slightly sweet taste to it. It's very soft and buttery to the taste. This could probably also be eaten as a dessert but it complements the flavor of the pupusa and cabbage salad so well. To drink, I would order one of their traditional beverages like Horchata (cocoa flavored, slightly milky drink) or Tamarindo (beverage made from Tamarind). The service wasn't great, the slaw was brought out by itself and we were just looking at it wondering what to do with it since no plates or explanation came with it. About 10 minutes later we got our cheese pupusas and the pork ones, both were delicious and were made better by the slaw. When our meals were brought out, my maduros were on my friend's plate, her tostones were on my plate. Instead of fixing it before she brought it out or bringing us an extra plate to make it easier for us to switch, the server mentioned that they were on the wrong plates and that was it. My salmon was just okay, my friend ordered carne guisado and got a cheap steak, nothing at all like the stewed meat she was expecting. A-OK is not a bad review in my book. I am not a Salvadoran cuisine connoisseur. I've had a few papusas in my day, but otherwise, I do not know what dishes are traditional for Salvadoran cooking. That being said, perhaps if I did, I'd have a better understanding of how to navigate this menu which was a mix of American standards and what, I'm guessing, are more Salvadoran dishes. My dining partner ordered the red snapper and he loved it. It came out whole and fried. He loved how crunchy the outside skin was. My meal of shrimp was less memorable. If the diner had been a traditional American fare only diner, I would never have ordered shrimp; however, I thought that it might be worth the risk since it was Salvadoran. Nope. The moral of the story? Ask the server what he/she recommends or what they are known for if you do dine there. read more

I was told wait time was 15-20 min, I gave them an extra 10 min grace period just in case they left fell behind in the kitchen. I asked her to give me my refund when I was told that they are starting to prepare my food, instead she brushed me away and went to the back. I'm not an expert on el Salvadoran food, except for my friend's homemade pupusas and tamales from her mom. She took me here and said it was the next best thing, she was right! I love pupusas and tamales. I had the cheese and vegetable pupusas, one of the sauces on the side was definitely too spicy for me but the other one was milder and more flavorful to my liking. I also got tamales, it comes with two per order and they were big. Much bigger than some of the ones I've had from some taco joints. It was weird because i got chicken ones, they both had chicken filling but.. they weren't the same. My friend was assuming they were probably wrapped at different times by different people?
