Birriaquesadilla and Tinga (Spicy Stewed Chicken) Burrito
    Samantha S.

I'd been here a few times years ago and decided to come for dinner one night last week, and the food was just as good as I'd remembered it! Prices seemed pretty average for the city, the service was good, and the restaurant has plenty of seating inside and out, so we chose a sidewalk table because it was a nice, warm evening. I got the birria quesadilla, which was very good, and my boyfriend ordered a chicken tinga burrito, which he devoured and said hit the spot. We were also given chips and salsa for the table upon first being seating, which is lovely when you come hungry like we did. Nacho Macho Taco is my favorite taco place in the neighborhood for sure!

Place never disappoints. I've been on a chipotle bowl type kick lately and chipotle gave me some old crunchy hard as nails brown. Rice and I paid over $20. Got this off the DoorDash with the coupon for $16. had more meat fresh ingredients and was delicious. And rice was perfect

I had the most random craving for tacos while in this area one day, stumbled on this place and decided to try. I got the steak, ground beef, and grilled chicken tacos. They were all good but my favorite was the steak. They are huge. If definitely hit the spot. The free chips were a plus too. Def try it out if you're in the area.

Oh. My. Goodness. If you're looking for a restaurant that understands the true meaning of "hangry prevention," then this is your spot. From the moment we sat down, they graced our table with the holy grail of appetizers: free chips and salsa. I mean, seriously, it's like they read my mind. Who doesn't love a little pre-meal snack to keep those ordering jitters at bay? Pure genius, I tell you. I opted for the burrito, and let me tell you, it didn't just hit the spot; it annihilated the spot, then did a celebratory dance on its grave. Utterly delicious. Beyond the food coma, the service was just as delightful. Our waiter was super friendly, which is always a bonus when you're trying to decide between the guacamole and the queso (the eternal struggle). The vibe of the place is perfectly neighborly. It's the kind of spot where you can actually hear your friends' jokes (and not just the muffled sounds of a million other conversations). Great for a casual get-together. Our only regret? We missed happy hour by a mere few minutes. Clearly, the universe was testing our patience. But honestly, with food this good and free chips on deck, it was still a win. We'll just have to be speedier next time!

This corner Mexican restaurant is my new favorite spot for a chill vibe with excellent service and of course a classic margarita with salt. Yum! We ordered nachos and the birria tacos both made well. I'll definitely be going again.

Ordered pickup on a Thursday night and it was ready within 10 minutes. My first time trying Nacho Macho Taco after living in the neighborhood for over a year, I was pretty excited. I ordered a grilled shrimp burrito and was pleased to find it was pretty big. While overall it was pretty tasty, the shrimp were over cooked and rubbery. It also took a few bites to get past the excess tortilla and actually find the filling. Other than these two things, it really was a good burrito and one of the better ones I've had in NYC. I'll almost definitely be back to give it a second chance.

A neighborhood staple is what I would call it. There are those places in the community that delivers quality food and service consistently. Nacho Macho Taco is one of those places. Right from the start, if you are looking for quality Mexican food, Nacho Macho Taco is your place. As I mentioned, the food was excellent. I enjoyed a burrito bowl, and my friend had a traditional burrito. I also had a raspberry frozen margarita which was also flavorful. The service was superb, as I mentioned, and the outdoor seating was also lovely. Nacho Macho Taco is a solid restaurant. I plan to return very soon. I recommend that you give them a try.

Went with 4 friends and sat right outside the front door. Would be nice if they could take out the umbrellas once the sun goes down so we can better see each other at the table without umbrella in way. Service came pretty quickly and the food came out promptly. Classic mexican restaurant ambiance. All 4 of us got the classic frozen margaritas. 3/4 liked them, 1 thought it didn't taste good. I rather much enjoyed mine. My friend who got the birria says it was average but not bad. The meat wasn't that great, and it's $17 so maybe go a different direction on the menu. I got the burrito bowl, and it was also average. Nothing wrong with it, just a bit bland for my taste. Cojita was extra. I'd say tacos are your best bet here. Would i eat here again: probably not soon Ambiance: casual

Stumbled upon this spot and was pleasantly surprised. The grilled fish burrito bowl was extremely delicious. The fish was cooked perfectly and was seasoned very well. The bowl was substantial--had pico de gallo, black beans, rice, cheese, and lettuce. The carnitas quesadilla was very yummy as well. I also enjoyed my tamarind margarita

What's not to like about Nacho Macho!? + They serve up super yummy tacos that are pretty big. I have a tendency to order three b/c that seems like a good number... but I am almost always stuffed after two. + On the weekends they have a brunch menu with breakfast tacooooos! + The outdoor space is lovely and perfect on one of those beautiful spring/summer nights. + The inside is fun and festive and full of color and mexican themed artifacts and knickknacks. Bonus points for the name -- it's so much fun to say! NACHO MACHO.

This location was geand and covered in beautiful Mexican inspired artwork and inspiration. There was a foozeball table and didn't place for a photo op like the wooden chair swing with the big bear and the phone booth with the neon sign "I didn't call you, tequila did". The thing I love about La Fortalezas is the commitment to the heritage, the culture and the authenticity of the community. The food and drink are always delicious, spot on and features an array of choices and price points. My cousin and I enjoyed their $5 margarita deal - getting flavored margs for an additional buck. I mean you can beat it! To eat, my cousin, fiend and myself all enjoyed the steak tacos and between that, the chips and dip and our drinks we are all stuffed and satisfied. Thank you so much to La Fortaleza - Poughkeepsie for a delicious lively lunch!!

Upon arrival it was clear that a vast swath of the county also decided that May 5 would be a good day to frequent a Mexican restaurant. In short, it was packed. I've never seen it this busy! That both dining rooms and the outside seating were full shouldn't have been a surprise. After a 3-minute wait, we were seated! Live music, people everywhere, and wait staff zipping thru crowds. Thankfully they've adjusted their prices upwards; previously I thought the food was seriously underpriced. The new pricing model reflects the breadth and depth of the new, substantive menu. The food took a long time to arrive but thankfully was preceded by a margarita that packed a punch even though I ordered the 'small' margarita with mezcal. Food quality was very good and I will return. I don't recall exactly what I ordered but can tell you the shrimp ceviche was great as was any dish with the shredded chicken. All in, this was a two-hour engagement excluding drive time. Timing was exacerbated by the fact that it was May 5th at a Mexican restaurant. I'd certainly recommend Casa Amigos if you're looking for an interesting change.

I did come at an in-between time (around 3pm), so it's possible that this was a one-off, but it was so meh that I'm not sure I'll be back to give it another shot (if I do, I'll come right at lunch or dinner time). The good: the mole was fantastic! Even with a mediocre meal, this stood out as amazing. The portions were generous. I thought at one point the woman asked if I wanted chicken or beef enchiladas, and having never had beef enchiladas I said "beef please." It turns out, I received chicken enchiladas with a portion of skirt steak on top (see photo). Again, very generous. The decor was lively. The misses: The beans were quite bland, to the point where I was surprised...it's such a foundational element of Mexican cuisine, but they needed more spices / a touch more salt. Also, my wife ordered the veggie wrap and it was bland. It contained lots of different vegetables, but somehow they weren't seasoned. I know vegetarian burritos aren't all the craze, but when I took a bite of it, I agreed...it was just vegetables, no seasoning at all. Nice to have it on the menu for folks like my wife, but why not season them first? Maybe it was an oversight. The horchata was different from what I've had in the past...not bad, but not something I would recommend either. It was watery, lacked any cinnamon flavor, and had ground almond on top, which was interesting (maybe this is regional?). Without the dynamite mole and the generous portions, this would be a 2 star review, but I can't, in good conscience, give less than 3 stars with mole like that. But the beans...womp womp.

This was also accompanied by a plate of mashed beans, something I've not seen elsewhere. Shortly after we were seated, I did notice one of the waitresses taking photos of our very large group (20+) on her own phone - not on the behalf of one of us - and I have to wonder if it was for the restaurant's social media, or something else. The servers were very attentive, being sure to ask the right questions as we ordered items. Food and drink all came out quickly. My chicken fajita platter came with steaming warm tortillas, more than I've typically gotten at other Mexican restaurants, and a separate plate with huge quantities of the fixin's, including a sizeable amount of guacamole. All that plus lots of beans and rice as well. This is a nice reboot from the brewery that was previously here.
