The prices listed here are incorrect. Much more expensive, and they are missing another dish that I saw on menu yesterday. I ate the Ceviche dish described as "freshly sliced halibut" with sliced avocado, etc. for $24. The other dish I'd had three months ago was the whole halibut with sides. This Ceviche arrived with "fish" in even sized tiny cubes, as if it had been taken out of a frozen package and microwaved. The taste was okay. The chips are very salty, but it tasted fine with the salsa. When my dish arrived, no sauce for a very dry iceberg bed of lettuce with 4 slices of avocado, so I asked for more salsa thinking I'd dump it over the "salad." The second salsa was tasteless and watery. Husband had the quesadilla - too much food so we wrapped up leftovers and took it home. Very expensive bill for a casual lunch. I Have an incredibly upset stomach today, so this is my last visit to Margarita's. Not worth the prices and low quality of food. Decor is lively and interesting, but I won't be coming back. read more

When we went inside, the restaurant was very busy! The atmosphere was colorful and fun. It was very festive. When it comes to Mexican food, I like authentic. They bring out chips and salsa, which is always a crowd favorite and it's a red flag if they don't. I ordered the enchiladas suizas because it's my favorite dish. And I was pleasantly surprised. It was really good! I'm not sure if it was because I was super pregnant and ready to pop, but I finished the entire plate. The meat was SO flavorful in the enchiladas. They didn't lean on the sauce for flavor. The meat itself was treated kindly and well seasoned. Overall, our meal was delicious and we had a fun night out. read more

We shared another pleasant meal here. The chicken chunks in an excellent mole sauce. Not too thick or spicy, just the right amount. The shrimp in garlic sauce is a Mexican take on shrimp scampi. The waitstaff is always pleasant and professional. They check on you without being obtrusive. There is complimentary salsa, chips, and warm refried been dip; I could make a meal out of that. Was looking for a nice and new place to try in the area while shopping in Hobby lobby. This place popped up as one of the places that has a great Mexican food! Went in the place was very festive and our server was very attentive. We ordered drinks then calamari and guacamole. They have chips, salsa and beans upon coming in. Servings are big as you have seen (even bigger than my head!) their food is also tasty and has a lot of flavor. Ambiance of the place is good feels like I'm in Mexico! I had dinner there last night. I ordered Arroz Con Pollo (chicken with mixed vegetables over a bed of rice and cheese) for $22. The bite-size pieces of chicken were overcooked and VERY DRY. I'm not a picky eater but I only ate a small fraction of the dish. I should have informed the server and sent the dish back but I was having a rare visit with a family member and a complaint would surely have caused several interactions with the server--and I didn't want to disrupt my visit with my family member. The wat staff was attentive. The restaurant decor was a pleasant. I don't recommend the Arroz Con Pollo. read more

This unassuming spot is actually such a good Mexican option in the Poughkeepsie area! Located in a strip mall it doesn't seem like much but the inside is lively, colorful and almost always crowded on weekends. The portions are served on these mega plates. The flavors and ingredients taste great too. Reasonable comparable prices for the area. Love that they serve chips with both salsa and beans to start. Horchata is delicious!! Upon moving to Dutchess County, my husband and I love to explore to new restaurants to find local spots to eat (we are hardcore foodies). We stumbled upon Margarita's Restaurant and instantly fell in love. The decorations reminded us of the local spots when we were in Tulum, full of mosaics and colors so very photogenic. The staff are super attentive and friendly, and provided recommendations for new timers like us. It is also family friendly as our daughter was able to be comfortable in her stroller and the noise level was not loud at all. In terms of the food and drinks, this is perfect for a date night or family/friend event. I don't drink so I ordered a Mango Margarita (delicious); it was the right consistency and temperature to cool off on a hot summer day. For food, I ordered Camarones a La Diabla; if you love spicy food then this is for you! It's a strong kick but addictive , get it does not overpower the overall texture of the palette. They have a lot of alcoholic drinks too that I recommend if you're a social drinker. This became our new favorite spot for Mexican food, so definitely show this place some love and support. read more

I've returned with another friend to Margarita's Restaurant. As usual, the food, service, and ambiance were great! The painted decor is authentic and very colorful. The music is good and not too loud so you can enjoy having a conversation. They had a large selection of delicious food and drinks to order from. I had the 3 enchiladas but, could not finish the large portion. My friend had a shrimp dish which I will try next time. The Presidente Margarita was very tasteful, and I'm glad I ordered it. Our server was Mr. Randolph. He was fantastic! He was patient, friendly, and very attentive. He checked with us numerous times making sure we had what we wanted. Margarita's is a go-to restaurant for me. Whenever I bring someone there for the first time, they love it and return themselves too. I recently visited this restaurant and ordered a two item combo with a tamale and chile relleno. The food was good. Obviously not authentic Mexican food, but it was pretty decent. I also had a michelada which is kind of rare to find in New York. The service was friendly, and they constantly checked on tables, picking up empty dishes and the food came out fast. I have been coming here for delicious Mexican food for years! The bring over the free chips with salsa and a bean dip. The salsa has a little spice which I love. The bean dip is new and it's so yummy. It's like a saucier refried beans with a little queso on top. Really yummy. The Jalisco enchiladas are my go to. I love the 3 different enchiladas (cheese, chicken, beef) with three different sauces (red, green and mole). I usually don't like mole but it's good here. I love the rice and refried beans. I mean...REALLY love. I always want to eat more but I'm always too stuffed with the dinner. And we never have room for dessert but the churros look good. All my companions loved their dinners too. Ive been here many times and spoke highly about this place to my friend. I was so disappointed. The only positive was that we were seated right away. We had the queso dip for an appetizer. It came out in minutes. It was disgusting ! It did not taste fresh-right out of the microwave. It was weird. No cheese but like a heavy cream. We literally took one bite. My friend had arroz con pollo. It looked like hibachi. It was way to salty and not appetizing. The food quality has gone down. Does the cook taste the food?? If I'm going to pay $16 for a Pina colada I kind of expect it to have alcohol in it. The food is your average Tex mex meals. Portions are good. Prices are just not accurate for some items. $16 for Taquito bites is too much. There are plenty of other restaurants in this area where prices are affordable and appropriate for what you're getting. I was there once and wasn't having the greatest day. I did a Mobil order and when I got home I found a little drawing (picture included) and that made my day! It's little things like this that can change a persons day or views on humanity in life. It's this little gesture that make my impossible belief of world peace to happen. I ordered a watermelon margarita and it had no alcohol in it, plus the watermelon flavor I'm sure came out of a packet was not real watermelon. For the price of the drink I would expect more. Tacos were salty as hell, and not the same amount was given on the tacos some had more meat than others. Food took too long to come out I would assume because they were making it but the rice tasted like it came out of a carton box and it was stuck together like it was reheated, same thing with the beans. This is the GO-TO spot in the area for Mexican food. The decor and overall ambiance really makes it feel authentic, and the service is impeccable. The drinks are delicious and typically very strong, but still fairly priced for what you are getting. You must try the queso dip - it is honestly the best I've had. My family and I have been coming to margaritas for years. It is a great place to get some Mexican food. Today, my mom and I decided to stop by for their lunch special and I'm glad we did! Their lunch special runs 11am-3pm Monday-Saturday I believe. It's quite worth it, as I feel the portions are as much as you'd get for dinner for a cheaper price. The staff was very welcoming, professional, friendly and knowledgeable of the menu! Now for the food! We all had different food items and everyone loved what they ordered. I have been coming here for the past 8 years and I never had a problem with them until today. The food they gave me tasted like it was re heated in a microwaved, the tortilla was chewy and their re fried beans were dry and even had some crust around the plate and coming out of their beans. I order another dish and there was a small hair hidden inside my tacos. Our waiter saw how upset I looked and had another employee come ask me how me second meal was instead of him. Only then finally did he come to us because we asked for the check. Im very disappointed in this restaurant. When they put a help wanted sign, they weren't kidding.
