La Barbirria is our go to Mexican in town, full stop. Yes it's a little pricey for Mexican, but Main Street rents dontcha know. The food is always great. The people are super nice. And the vibe is on point. They have Pacifico, which is of course the best Mexican beer to have when you're going for Mexican (fight me/I dare you to prove me wrong, I said it!). I cant even lie, the food tasted really good but the service was shit. Our server forgot all about us. She gave us our drinks and dissapeared. We had to ask another server, who also noticed our wait, and took our orders after apologizing profusely. There were 4 other tables who arrived after us, and they got drinks, apps, and their food before we did. It was aweful. The place wasnt even busy. My stars are only for the food since once it arrived, I was satisfied but not worth that long of a wait.The fajitas were quite big and delicious, so they get a star for that. read more

Once again we are at this restaurant. We LOVE IT. The Bartender Miriam is phenomenal. We come for her Spicy Margaritas, they are AMAZING! All the staff are working so hard to meet the demands of the customers. Today's soo busy with the Beacon Bonfire going on. Very clean, spacious restaurant. We were seated immediately on a Friday night. Started off with a jalapeño margarita and a Paloma and then got chips and guac with a side of pico de gallo. The pico is my only complaint about this place because it was mostly just onion! I expected a lot more tomatoes in it. We went here for lunch midweek and were the only ones there until 12:45 so no wait. Ordered the carne asada and camerones (shrimp) tacos and elote. Everything was delicious and fresh. Extra sauces were also brought which were excellent and flavorful. This is more authentic Mexican rather than modern, but I think I might prefer it to Hudson taco :O Only had water so no idea about their cocktails, Hudson will likely win there. This location has seen a lot of changing restaurant businesses close or move but if the food is this good every time I can't see how they won't stay busy enough to stay in beacon. Outstanding service is what makes this restaurant stand out. The waitresses were attentive, asked us if we wanted recommendations, checked up on us several times to ensure everything is good. They were so friendly and welcoming. The food was also delicious. I ordered the Al Pastor tacos which came with 3. They were small but the pork was juicy and you can taste the pineapple. This restaurant recently opened in Beacon. We were excited to try it, as there aren't many authentic Mexican options in town. The tacos (carnitas and al pastor) were tasty, but pretty small for the price. I had a side of maduros (sweet plantains) and those were quite good. Their homemade hot sauces were nice, but not spicy enough for my taste (although I like very spicy food!). I'd try one of the entrees next time. The service was decent, but our waiter never came over to ask us how our food was. Overall we just weren't blown away and were hoping for better, but it's a solid middle of the road option. Maybe whatever I order next time will impress me more. One note - they don't have their liquor license yet. read more

I understand that a Saturday night is busy especially in a small town known for their upscale restaurants, however, when service is nonexistent it is unforgivable. The restaurant was not busy when we entered and we were seated immediately and quickly ordered drinks and food. We got drinks and appetizers and then it was if we were a table of lepers. The only time they spoke to us was 2 separate waitstaff people asked what we ordered, walked away quickly and avoided us for another 45 minutes. We not only never received our food but were never asked if we needed more drinks or water. My wife and I ate here last week and as we are big fans of Mexican and other Latin American food, we have high standards for authenticity and flavor. Barbirria did not disappoint. Dishes are complex and creative, using authentic ingredients and techniques. Portions are very generous as we both took home half our main courses. The warm, handmade corn tortillas tell you everything you need to know about the attention to detail the chef employs with all of the food here. My wife couldn't stop smelling the earthy tortillas as if they were little round handkerchiefs. We only had the chance to try three dishes plus a perfectly creamy dessert flan while we sat at the bar. Miriam ( I think that was her name), the bartender was gracious and helpful and makes a superior Margarita from scratch every time. Prices are on the high side, but definitely worth it for the great food and excellent cocktails. We will be back here often. read more
