Always a good time at Capt. Jake's. Food, service and dock side view, the best. I can't remember a time where I left Capt. Jake's unhappy with my meal. Love it there.

We are from out of town and wanted a place in the water. The playlists is good. Nicole was our server and she was "dynamite!" Very attentive, bright, and fast. The food has a few complaints: the potato croquet was cold in the middle (they solved that problem) , chicken parmigiana the pasta was great the chicken tasted microwaved. The dessert the brownie wasn't hot. Restaurant is clean, warm and a homey feeling

Our waitress was amazing. The scenery was amazing. The food was amazing. The deciding factor for me is always "Will I come back?" The answer here is absolutely

On the Newburgh waterfront Captain Jake has been a fixture here for many years. My first time trying this establishment and I found it to be a very eclectic ambience. The service is excellent and the food was fantastic. There was no wait today and plenty of outside seating. I highly recommend this restaurant and I will be back to try it again in the near future. If you ever find yourself in the Newburgh area, pay a visit down to the waterfront and stop in at Captain Jake's. You'll be glad you did.

My friends took me out for a seafood dinner; it was my birthday. This place is closer than City Island in the Bronx. There's a view of the Hudson. A nice touch. Initially, I would've given it a much higher rating. It was the final minutes of our celebration; that changed my mind. More on that later*. Two appetizers, three double shots of Don Julio reposado, 2 glasses of wine, large bottle of S. Pelegríno, four entrées, four desserts, double espressos, and cappuccino. The portions were ample, not over the top. The sauce on the cod with crab meat was a little dry from being under the broiler too long. I asked for some on the side. It was closer to lobster bisque, it made a big difference in the palatability. * Some tips for the management: the waitstaff hangs out by the pass schmoozing, instead of attending to their patrons, the idea of shooting up a flare to get their attention came to mind. When they bring the check - it's signed and they come back for it. Then we're done and ready to leave. It's a form of age discrimination. The hostess that seated us; came over and very RUDELY and VERY bluntly told us she needs our table and HAVE to LEAVE! The ink on the paper had barely dried; when she suddenly showed up. THERE WERE TWO AVAILABLE tables on the patio and a few empty ones inside. With that UNPROFESSIONAL attitude; it definitely would have cancelled the servers gratuity. Then they wonder why Boomers sometimes don't tip them well?! It's a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Nice seafood joint on the Hudson River. Sat in the heated potch and enjoyed a blood orange mule and a bubbly sangria before meals of Sole with a lemon sauce and fish and chips. Both were good service was a little relaxed but good.

View of the river through the enclosed patio.

Ask the Community - Captain Jake's

Are the lobster rolls warm and served with butter or more like a lobster salad cold with mayo?

Mine were served warm & lightly buttered. Not quite as good as Abbotts ( Groton, CT), but still very good.

On a trip to Colorado, Kihlmire visited a shop that featured an abundance of books and records. He came up with an idea to open a similar shop that would also feature craft beer. Kihlmire initially opened The Vinyl Room by himself in Wappingers Falls. In addition to beer, records, and video games, customers could also enjoy pizza by ordering it through a special window that connected to the Wagon Wheel next door. Although the concept was well-received, the small space and constraints from the landlord limited the full potential of the business. In July 2021, it moved to a new space at 344 Main Street in Beacon. Customers could order food from Roma Nova across the street. Unfortunately, the space was still too small and the owners received numerous noise complaints from apartment tenants upstairs. In August 2023, The Vinyl Room moved down the street to 393 Main Street to their third (and hopefully forever) location. For the latest version of the business, childhood friend Kane Licari came on board as a partner. This also marks the first time that The Vinyl Room features a kitchen with their own food. The menu features burgers, sandwiches, wraps, salads, rice bowls, tacos, wings, and various bar bites. In addition to craft beer, the bar also serves wine, craft cocktails, and mocktails. I recently visited The Vinyl Room for lunch with my two sons while we were visiting Beacon. Any place that features craft beer, records, and classic arcade cabinets sounds like Heaven to someone like me. I really liked the whole vibe of the interior with the industrial design and all of the pop culture and music references. My sons and I grabbed a booth and looked over the menu. For food, I had the "Crunchy Chicken Bowl" (sushi rice, pickled onions, avocado, arugula, charred corn, chili garlic crunch, creamy garlic sauce), my older son had the "Grilled Cheese" (Vermont white cheddar, havarti, slow roasted onions, roasted garlic butter, sourdough), and my younger son had the "Return of The Mac" (smoked gouda Vermont cheddar cream, buttery breadcrumbs). We were all very happy with our choices! To drink, I had a draught pour of Upward Brewing's "Summer Camp" (Helles Lager). After finishing our delicious meal, I scrolled through the impressive record collection. Then we all headed downstairs to have a blast in the arcade. Before leaving, I enjoyed a pour of Equilibrium Brewery's "Tidal Balance" (Double IPA; collab w/ Sand City Brewing). We all had such a fun experience at The Vinyl Room and we hope to return in the future!

We went around 5pm, and saw the sign "Seat Yourself & Order At The Bar". Ok... So I asked a bartender for 2 menus, and found a booth. We decided quickly, and I made my way to the bar. Others were ahead of me, so I patiently waited to order: Tripple Smash Burger, Honey Buffalo Salad, Purple Rain (2), Diet Coke. I paid at the bar, served the drinks and waited for our food. The music was 80's MTV Themed {Pat Benatar, Bon Jovi, Bruuuce, Billy Idol}. Jenga, Horrible Couple and Cards Against Humanity were on the tables to pass the time. Or flip through the many records available for purchase until the food arrives. The salad was large in size and very good. Been a while since I had a burger, and this filled the void. Fries were not that hot, but we ate them anyway. Afterwards, we went downstairs and played some old school arcade games and then headed out. Upon leaving we saw someone was having a birthday party, which was nice to see. I'm sure in the summer this place gets packed. They also have a selection of draught beer (The proper way to spell it). Good choice for food, although it wasn't cheap. Bill w/tip was $100. I think having a server on staff for all hours would be a good decision for TVR to make, in order to TCB !
