Billy Joe's Ribworks was recommended by my mom, so naturally, the family had to investigate. We came during Labor Day weekend around 11:30 AM with our toddler, and this place checked all the boxes from the moment we arrived. First, free parking right outside the restaurant! Walk in and you're greeted by a huge space with high ceilings and a massive outdoor deck overlooking the water. You can sit indoors or outside by the deck, but with a toddler, we opted for indoors. The restaurant is also very family-friendly, including a family restroom, which parents definitely appreciate! Huge shoutout to JAY C for the amazing hospitality! He was genuinely warm and attentive, making sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed with our little one. You can tell when someone is just doing their job versus when someone genuinely cares, and Jay C definitely falls into the latter! For the food, we went all in and ordered the Feast for Friends so we could try a little bit of everything. It does not come with brisket, so of course we had to add that separately for $9. We got the coleslaw and mashed potatoes for our sides, and honestly, everything was fantastically seasoned. The corn bread was out of this world too! The ribs were tender, but the Dino beef ribs were the MVP! Absolutely fantastic! The chicken was moist, flavorful, and had a little "Chinese kick" (kung pao) to it ;) The brisket was the only thing that was a little on the dry side for us. And those sides? My wife and I were basically fighting over them. Yes, they were THAT good. Next time, I already know what I'm ordering: ALL THE DINO BEEF RIBS. No sharing. After the meal, we took a nice little walk out on the deck and enjoyed the waterfront since the restaurant wasn't too crowded. Such a relaxing way to end the meal. And then, as we were leaving, we discovered the little mints by the entrance. A small touch, but always appreciated! Great food, great atmosphere, family-friendly, wonderful hospitality, and a beautiful waterfront setting. We will definitely be back! read more

Another splendid trip. My fiance and I had our first date at Billy Joe's and thought to take a visit the other day to reminisce. We brought my daughter - she was thrilled with the view, watching the giant ships plow thru ice bergs on the frozen Hudson River. She loved her chicken fingers and fries and coloring book w crayons. Him and I do not eat meat. Ordered the veggie quesadilla and a side of fries to share. Holy crap that veggie quesadilla was DELICIOUS!!! I don't love that the fries are coated in flour, at a place like this you hope for a hearty potato-only steak fry. Also no malt vinegar to douse the floured fries in... but our awesome waiter Ryan mentioned to the manager, and he ordered a case of malt vinegar for our next trip - talk about service and pride in your business ! Love ya Billy Joes!! read more

My first time here, what a beautiful place! There were about 20 of us to celebrate a work anniversary. I've got to tell you the server agreed to give us separate checks. I don't know how she did it. That option alone was above and beyond. Other restaurants take note!!! I had a burger with guacamole perfectly cooked to my liking. For a Monday night, the place was hopping! All of my former colleagues loved the meal. Their location is absolutely magical and will be remembered for a long time. Highly recommend. read more

This is a nice rustic place by the water that is absolutely HUGE on the inside and on the outside. Too bad we visited for the first time in the winter and missed out on deck dining by the water. Can't wait until it gets warm so I can come back and dine outside. Now, my husband and I love BBQ and we have eaten at a lot of BBQ places: Meat Mitch in Kansan City, KS; Hometown BBQ in Brooklyn, NY; Fette Sau in Brooklyn, NY; Hill Country BBQ in NYC; Brad's BBQ in Anniston, AL and Billy Joe's is at the top tier of the list. The service was excellent. The general manager and the waiter were nice, friendly, and kind. My husband ordered bbq ribs with braised greens, baked beans, and coleslaw with cornbread and sweet tea. I ordered bbq brisket sandwich with coleslaw and a Pepsi. Both of us agreed that our food was absolutely delicious. We will definitely be going back. read more

Love this place!! Came here a while back with my friends and decided to stop in again. The service was great! Jay was very attentive/friendly and had great customer service presence. We ordered the chicken sandwich with a side of Mac n cheese, and the chicken fingers with the kung pow sauce, and sweet potato fries. Everything came out in a timely manner, and Jay was attentive and brought us refills on our drinks as well as waters without us even asking. Food was delicious! We opted for the banana pudding dessert which was also very very good! This place is awesome, there is ample parking outside, and a great view. read more

The atmosphere was friendly and inviting. The service was awesome. The food was fantastic. The mozzarella slices were to die for. The Friend Feast was a healthy amount of a meatatarian diet and loaded with flavor. The Mac and Cheese sandwich was an upgraded grilled cheese with pasta and worth every bite. The Po Boy was a fish lovers delight. There were no wrong turns on the menu. This was an excellent choice. I strongly recommend Billy Joe's. read more

Billy Joe's was totally awesome tonight. On many levels . My wife and I are from out of town but wanted a Hudon view. Outside seating, beautiful! Service: Anthony was our waiter nice fellow and great waiter! Food: garden salad topped with brisket with bbq ranch dressing, delicious ! I had St Louis half rack, fantastic. But the above and beyond, I thought I had lost my wallet. Got back to my hotel and couldn't find it. Called restaurant and they put the alert out and took my name and number. Retraced my steps including a trip back to restaurant. Rechecked front desk. Came back to hotel prepared to cancel cards. Checked one more long shot place and there it was. Notified restaurant thanked them profusely for helping me because different people answered the phone and were aware of my situation. So thank you again, Billy Joe's. read more

I had a starter platter it was good and so were the drinks being next the the Hudson on the water was my favorite part

Billy Joe's Ribworks is hands-down one of my favorite spots in Newburgh, especially for the outdoor bar and patio that gives you an amazing view of the Hudson River and mountains. Whether it's day or night, the vibe is always on point--but at night, it really comes alive, especially when there's a DJ and dancing. Just be aware there's usually a cover charge on special event nights, and they'll move tables to make room for the dance floor. Food-wise, I'm a big fan of the Legend Burger--stacked with Smoked Brisket, Pulled Pork, Smoked Sausage, Cheddar, Coleslaw, and BBQ Sauce--it's as intense as it sounds and super satisfying. The ribs are solid, and the Combo Ribs platter is a great way to sample everything--usually comes with half a rack of ribs, chicken, mac & cheese, and broccoli. The wings and calamari also never disappoint. It's also a great place to catch a game with a beer or glass of wine in hand. The service is consistently friendly and fast, and the crowd and energy always make it a good time. I've been coming here for years and always walk away happy. Definitely a must-visit if you're in the area! read more

Five star vibes, three star food. Look, you don't come here for the best bbq you've ever had. It's fine. You come for the waterfront, the music, and the bar. Get the calamari, it's actually very good. Everything else is whatever. Service is super friendly and it's a really fun summer spot. read more

Great food and drinks with an amazing view of the Hudson. We sat out on the patio and enjoyed our meals.

Today, I'm sharing a delicious BBQ restaurant with a huge patio and beautiful views - Billie Joe's Ribworks. Located about 90 min north of Manhattan on the Hudson River, Billie Joe's reminds you of a Southern smoke shack that was dropped next to a river in the mountains of New York. They have a HUGE patio area right on the water, the views of the river and Mt Beacon were beautiful! They don't take reservations, so be prepared to wait on a busy evening. They also close at 9pm and turn into some type of dance club The portions were very generous, the staff was friendly and attentive and the food was pretty solid! Ordered the Meat, Meat and More Meat - smoked brisket, smoked sausage and pulled pork. The platter was more than enough to share, which is exactly what we did! Cornbread was a little dry and dense, but all the meats were delicious. Beans were spicy and tasty, but a little sweet. Cocktails were well poured and not lacking on the booze If you find yourself in the area, I definitely recommend a stop! read more

I ordered a bbq pork potato and it was terrible. I got a nice sized potato, but the bbq'd pork was sparingly added. I was very disappointed and have never returned. Screwed once is all it takes for me. Want me to try again, be generous with the bbq'd pork on the potato. read more

Love the family atmosphere of the restaurant. Great view of the Hudson and the Beacon mountains. Food was great super tasty. Wait staff were very friendly and welcoming. Order a few burgers and an app. Fried pickles were fresh hot and delicious. The Legend was delicious with every bite. Our family ordered The classic cheeseburger and was quote "one of the best burgers I've ever had, balance of cheese and sauce with a perfectly cooked burger." Plenty of food left over except for the legend that was devoured:) read more

The server Victoria was so good to us the food and everything she did was so good so was nice and kind and caring person

It's getting a 4 for the view which is outstanding. There is both inside & outside dining. The outside dining provides the view. The food was OK. We ordered a loaded potato for an appetizer. It was great. We had brontosaurus ribs and brisket. Both looked EXTREMELY appetizing, but needed the BBQ sauce to bring out the flavor( there was not much seasoning on the meat itself. For sides we had collards, broccoli, baked beans and Mac and cheese. The baked beans were great enhanced by burnt ends. The other sides were unremarkable. The cornbread was dense but tasty. We had unsweetened iced tea & pineapple patron Margarita. There was a mixup with the Margarita, but the waiter quickly remedied the situation. read more

To the Point: - Great location, overlooking the river. - Food was very good - Price point ok/ mid range - Service was friendly/good Great to sit outside, overlooking the river in the evening. Our group arrived an was seated quickly, food ordered and came quickly. Excellent BBQ, local beers... perfect to sit and visit on the deck and plenty of space. Only negative was about 9pm, a very loud DJ playing hip/hop style music. It was a Saturday, so that may have been a thing there. Elsewise, a good visit read more

This, is the best barbecue joint I have ever been to in Newburgh. This place is the best, their ribs fall right off the bone. The Mac and cheese is nice and creamy and the fries, hmm hmm good. The service was wonderful, are server was Tammy and she was the best. She was kind and gave us suggestions to the best thing in the menu. The ambiance was wonderful, the music is at a good volume and the view is wonderful. This can turn into a Michelin star restaurant. read more

Really enjoyed lunch with my Dad - an unexpected delight! My catfish po boy was excellent - light & crispy generously size filet, loaded with DELICIOUS coleslaw and pickle. Mac n cheese is very good. My Dad enjoyed his very modestly priced lunch special of chicken and ribs with beans - so plentiful that he went home with leftovers. Lots of nice touches, including 6 stalls! in the women's restroom plus a family restroom. Friendly and efficient service from Jay, our server. I'll be back in the summer for the HUGE patio, right on the river! Thanks, Joe! read more

This is the 2nd time I've eaten there in the past two months. Both times I got sick. The first time I never made it past the restroom. This time I woke up in the middle of the night deathly sick. Something isn't right in their kitchen! Please avoid the food!! read more

We ate here, last month, but were busy with the holidays, and I forgot to post review. We had such a great lunch experience, I have to fix that. Our server was friendly and attentive. Other servers also stopped at table to check on us, as did the manager. Portions were just right for lunch. My husband ordered rib and chicken combo. I ordered fish platter, which I was delighted to find on menu at a barbecue restaurant. All food was delicious. The bar is well stocked. The restaurant is nicely decorated, spacious and the view is priceless. I'm looking forward to going back soon. read more

Hubs has never claimed to be the BBQ know-it-all...because he's not. But one thing is 110% certain- my husband loves meat with those crispy+burnt edges and an overall char. He almost got his wish when we came to Billy J's by the Hudson River in Newburgh. Whatever garage/factory Billy J's was in its past life, they did a nice job converting that into the restaurant it is today. They have an indoor dining area that spans practically a small city block (not true- but seemed like it), another side of the restaurant with glass garage doors adding visual spice with a panoramic view to the Hudson as well as their deck area out in the open. My Riesling was way too sweet for my liking and would've appreciated a more crisp feel. Hubs' Long Island Ice Tea tasted like juice with none of the strength. We stuck to water after that. Our girl Gianna must've been no older than 23- but boy was she on us like a hawk with a quick hand for any of our requests and pleasant at that too. Crispy Shrimp appetizer had a subtle coconut crust. As ugly as catfish is, I went for it in a cornmeal-crust with broccoli sans cheese (as I wanted it) and a side of fries as my two choices. The fish has a nice amount of salt and crunch...but it cracked everywhere. Hubs went for the full rack of ribs- except he didn't want all that slathered-on BBQ sauce. He told our girl he wanted burnt edges and a char. The kitchen worked their magic somewhat. Maybe this isn't the type of BBQ place where they make ribs with burnt edges and a char¯\_(ツ)_/¯. But he raved about their fall-off-the-bone meat though. This may not have been above the level for us. But it was an 'ok' try. read more

Right on the waterfront, staff was friendly right as you walk in. Place was large and open. The afternoon was nice and doors to the patio was opened. We sat outside to watch the boats.and enjoy the views. The calamari was lightly breaded and cripsy. The Mariana sauce was very nice, wanted to ask foe some bread to dip it in! We ordered some beers, my husband got the Purplet Gatorade drink. I tried it-I didnt taste any alcohol. Was it in there?it was deceptively sweet and delicious. We all ordered sandwiches instead of ribs and chicken. My sister got the Reubens sandwich (triple decker!) with fries. My son got the grilled mac n herself with pulled pork and sweet potato fries, my husband got the legend burger (holy money it was HUGE!) with sweet potato fries and I got a burger with coleslaw. The portions are big. The only person to finish his sandwich was my teenage son. The rest of us were stuffed after eating 1/2 or 1/4 of ours! We were so full. We'd come back for the ambiance, the views and of course the food! read more
