7/27/25 - we were joined by another couple for the luncheon buffet, all of us have been here several times before. The venue is still upscale, service is impeccable, it's kept very clean. However, the amount of proteins offered; has gone down quite a bit, and there are a lot of starches on the hot buffet. The minute steak and the chicken francese were both rather tough. I couldn't tell what kind of fried fish it was supposed to be under the breading. It wasn't too bad. The Cold station had usual grilled vegetables, cold smoked salmon, and cold cuts. New to the area, we found this gem! Absolutely delicious, from their homemade bread to dessert, definitely deserves a return visit. We started with their peach sangria, then enjoy their homemade bread, followed by their cauliflower fritter appetizer. For dinner we had the Thai red curry vegetable dish with chicken added and a side of the most fluffiest and delicious basmati rice, and the scallop and shrimp over a mushroom asparagus risotto. My wife and I decided to do Brunch with our daughters and grandsons. It was our oldest daughter and grandsons first time and as always the experience was amazing for them and all of us. The service is impeccable, the servers move like ninjas, your beverage is low and the next thing you know your beverages are replenished or empty plates are removed. It's a beautiful ambiance and the food is superb. There is a chef who makes omelets to your specification and he also prepares the fresh baked waffles. There is a carving station also where he also slices the meat of the day. There is also a full bar for those who like a libation with their brunch. One half of restaurant is dedicated to the brunch and other half is a regular restaurant. The buffet is from 11-2PM As we work to our table. You can see what is on the menu. I think we'd give this restaurant an overwhelming "it was fine." We both had the filet -- we know chefs probably roll their eyes whenever we order filet medium well. But usually they can just butterfly the meat and can do that. Our meat was definitely overcooked -- I ate mine because I was hungry, the person I was with couldn't finish hers. The meat came with kind of plain cooked veggies in butter and a scoop of potatoes. So again, nothing to complain about, but I wouldn't rave, either. I have been to Orange Hill so many times, it is on my top five restaurant in Newburgh. First striking is the decor, walking in the bar is stunning! Their Cafe section is very chic while the dinning area is very romantic, specially in the winter when they turn on the fireplace. Plenty of tables they do buffet for Sunday brunch, it is beautifully layed out with a large array of items. The pear dessert and the bread pudding are mouth watering delicious. Their drinks are beautiful and will sneak up on you, so be careful with how many you drink. They have a fairly wine menu. Every single item my companion I have tried have been so delicious except for the oyster and spinach dish, not sure exactly what happened there but it was very disappointing in my opinion. The experience here was a little hit and miss. For the most part, the food was delicious, but there were a few hiccups I think could be addressed. The seafood marinara sauce was surprisingly spicy and a little too sweet for my taste. The rack of lamb was to die for but the sides that accompanied the lamb were pretty mediocre. Overall the meal was good and I'd happily come back. As far as the service goes, I love chugging water and the constant refills had me elated. The food came out quite slowly though. Wife and I have been wanting to try their brunch here for a while, well we tried & were under whelmed. $35 a person & food was ok, few things were good nothing great & none were horrible but.... Omelette station was good but slow & guy wasn't all that quick. Service was barely tolerable, had to 'flag down' someone to request coffee refills, never came to table. No salt / pepper on table, again had wave someone over to get some. French macaroons were great, rest of the desserts were ok.chocolate fountain had no real flavor & on tiny pieces of strawberry & some melon. No pineapple or marshmallows. They came to the table every 5 min while we were looking at the menu, & then again every 5 min all throughout the meal, Interior is clean & new - but looks like it's all purchased from the TJ Maxx housewares clearance section - including a standing, large bookend that says "HELLO" in cursive. The craft beer selection is also all over the place, but not quite so good. Need at least one stout & one German pils on tap, The food honestly is not bad - more like everyone is clueless & has never been in a restaurant b4. The risotto was actually awesome. First of all, upon calling for a reservation, we were advised of a $10 per head charge. I guess they get a lot of reservations and then "no-shows". Nicely redone inside, but you could tell the bones were originally the Neptune diner, which had been there for many years. BTW, you need to replace the ugly big cracked tiles by the cash register area; an accident waiting to happen. We were a party of six, all first-timers. White tablecloths and then the 2-sided menu that was sealed in plastic? Quick service, maybe a little too quick; we felt kind of rushed. Food portions were substantial enough, although they were out of the Shrimp & scallop entree' (which 2 of us were requesting). A couple of the dishes came to the table cold. On this visit I did branch out to try a lunch special. I can't recall the name but it was a seafood dish that comes with fried fish, fried shrimp, fried calamari, and French fries. All of the seafood was very fresh and perfectly fried. The portion size was huge for the price- it was big enough for two meals. The dipping sauce is a chili mayo that is phenomenal. The fries I requested extra crunchy and they come with some type of seasoning that is amazing. I couldn't quite place the seasoning because it was perfectly present, not over seasoned at all. I didn't use ketchup because the fries were tasty alone. I ordered oysters Rockefeller because it is also a favorite here. How could anyone resist champagne foam? I can't wait to return for brunch in the future. The restaurant is currently under construction, however the dining room is still beautiful. This is definitely fitting for an impressive date night, business meeting, or bar meet up with the homies. They have a happy hour with specials too. I can not say enough good things about orange hill. Now the food has to be good if I'm not taking a star off for this negative... the service can be slow. Whether you sit at the bar or dine in. Overall a fairly satisfying dinner. Upon perusing the menu, I went with a review favorite, the spaghetti Bolognese. It came via DoorDash and though they kept pushing the time back (an extra 18 minutes), the DoorDash person was quick to get it into the hotel and to meet in the lobby. He was friendly and made sure I had a good grip of it because the entrée was heavy. You get a lot of food with this order. There's a lot of pasta, good tasting sauce, and meat. I thought the pasta was cooked perfectly. The sauce and meat weren't overly spicy or bland. Overall, it was a nice blend of texture and flavor. It would be nice if it came with a complementary side salad and most importantly, a side of utensils! So the food was delicious as always! I had the lunch special salmon and hubby had the lunch special shrimp and chicken breast. Both were fine. Our only issue is with the menu itself. It would be easier to have an options for the soup and salad and just cut down on the size for the special: cup of soup and house salad or small salad from the main menu. I got the salad that came with the special and it had cucumbers and green peppers which I don't eat so I sent that back and got a Caesar salad which was big and half of it would have worked!! Hubby got the soup and it was tomato which h he ate and was good but he would have preferred the mushroom! Anyway we love this restaurant and have never had a bad meal?! The food was just ok. I got the chicken and it was dry. The staff looked miserable. From the person seating you, to the waiter taking the orders and everyone that worked there looked like they weren't happy and like we were bothering them. I've been there many times. This time was the worse. I won't be going there again. There are a lot of other places to eat. A smile goes a long way. I've been to Orange Hill so many times and it is one of my all-time favorite restaurants. It wasn't unusual for them to see me there three times in one week. I've been there for brunch. My girlfriends and I visited for lunch on a Monday. It was pretty quiet (my first time there) but my friends said it has a bustling Sunday brunch and it's been open over 2 years. I am not one to find restaurants in the middle of shopping and traffic areas attractive, but I have to say this meal was great. Just spending the night in Newburgh as we travel through the area. We did a search for restaurants near our motel, and this was one that came up. We pulled into the parking lot and were surprised at how few vehicles there were, but we saw people eating inside through the windows so we decided to give it a try. The first thing that struck us was the beautiful decor of the dining room. We were seated immediately, and brought water. Everything on the menu looked good, and the prices were reasonable. The waiter kept our water glasses full and our food was served in a reasonable amount of time.There were only about 8 other customers there the whole time.
