5 stars Came in to see family and found this spot of goodness as we drove up RT-9 looking for a place to eat after a 7 hr drive. This place is friggen GREAT... The atmosphere, the tables, service, the food, everything was very good. Good sized menu with many options.. Different areas of the restaurant have different set ups. We were in the bar area. Service was top notch. The free bread and bruschetta is house made and highly recommended. Mrs had the Reuben (shocker)- liked it a lot. I had the spicy chicken sandwich and it was excellent. Moist not greasy, coating was spot on. Honestly, one of the best I've had. Wife had two lemon-drops and 3 domestic beers for me. No appetizers $77 pre-tip. Which I thought was very reasonable. We are here through the weekend and plan on coming back tomorrow. Longest review ever- sorry We're back 2 days later because of a snow storm and the day prior, there was standing room only. Note to everyone- get there early.. I have no idea how I didn't know about this place in my many trips back home after I moved away. Back in the bar area. Service was once again spot on. Somewhat quiet today. Good happy hour deals. Mrs Reuben went 180 on me and ordered the Parmesan encrusted chicken- which is good cuz I'll get some. Chicken was tender, and really nice sauce. Ample portion I got the Mac n' Cheese because she said I had to try something new. (Happy wife- happy life)" really good, large size / could split it. Very cheesy. I wish I could love this place. Been there twice before and everytime food was nit to my expectations. This time it was my BFF birthday. Drinks had alcohol in them, thats positive point. Simple drinks, nothing fancy (looking at ya Night and Day bar) . Lately even usual places cut drastically on their alcohol in the drinks ( Taxas road house completely forgot to put any tequila in their margaritas, and that's a shame) But, food... when I order ahi acid tuna I want it raw and seared on the sides. Never had an issue at double O's. Have dined several times. The food is pretty good and the drinks are always on point. Our waiter was kind, polite and checked on us appropriately. The place dimmed but it's perfect. Noise level is great for having conversations with your party. read more

We came today with my family and everyone enjoyed their meals. I had a poke bowl, that was fresh and delicious. It came in a plate and not a bowl though. My husband's pastrami sandwich was so good, the cheese melted perfectly and it had really tender meat. My daughter had a salad with steak that she enjoyed. Great sized portions too. The service was a little lacking, the waitress forgot to bring out bread and bruschetta (delicious!) and we got it when I food came out. Just a bit slow and forgetful service, but she was friendly and the restaurant was busy. Not a big deal. For the quality and quantity of the food, we give it 5 stars. We will be back. read more

I met an old friend for drinks and dinner at the Double O Grill. He was retiring soon and planned to headed south, and had never tried the place. Great food and appys, and happened to be able to take advantage of their excellent Happy Hour menu (drink and feed). I don't think I've ever had a bad Happy Hour at Double O.. It's hard to describe the vibe. Think something along the lines that TGI Friday's/Chili's had a baby with a NY diner! The menu is EXTENSIVE, the dessert case in the front near the hostess stand has you thinking about a piece of cake before you even order lunch, and the service was very good. Lots of seating in the restaurant and bar area, and a nice selection of beers and cocktails. The fried calamari and the spinach dip appetizers were well-received, and the fish tacos got a thumbs up as well. Burgers were also very good. Prices are fairly reasonable for the area. read more

We made another reservation for Nov 28 at 4:30pm. We finished shopping early so we arrived at about 3:30pm. Jeremy checked us in and found our reservation. He seated us and Ian was our server. We went to Double O on April 7 with a group of 35! We had one amazing waiter who served us our drinks, took our order, brought us our food and dessert in an increasingly time efficient manner and with such grace and ease. With 35 of us I did not think we would ever get our order in and eat but to my surprise the evening was a delight. I have been here many times, but only for parties. The food is just ok. It has really great decor and has a great atmosphere. The staff is very friendly. We were here for a party. They never refilled water or drinks unless we asked them too. They never came to take the plates when we finished with each course. Multiple times, they left appetizers on the corner of the table. We would have to quickly move them because we thought it might fall off the table. We had to pile up the plates on the far end to bring the food to the middle. The best thing I had was the Chicken Sorrentino. It was layered nicely and had lots of flavor. The rest of the food was meh. The calamari was a little rubbery. The mozzarella was very good. Waited almost an hour for "Asian" lettuce wraps that turned out to be... lettuce topped with canned mandarin oranges and some of the worst chicken I've ever attempted to eat. Two bites in and I had to ask the (very nice) waiter to please take it off the bill. My boyfriend ordered a simple burger and fries that should've been impossible to ruin, yet the burger arrived cold and the fries tasted like they'd been sitting out for hours. Very Disappointed! Easter Brunch was awful and totally not worth it. The place was wall to wall people, all guests coming and going all pass by the food areas and dessert area is right by hostesses station and people standing online to the front door. All chafing dishes were either empty, most chafing dishes all duplicated, not enough variety, not good for our party who was allergic to fish and people touching serving spoons and crossings fish dishes with non fish items. Shrimp floating in watered down ice. Not enough variety, very messy, 3 desserts to choose from. No coffee severed or asked by server. Steak was extremely salty. Way to many people for small area to get your food and fighting for so many people to even get to chaffing dishes. Very upset that I spent money on an awful brunch and will never return for the buffet again. Very disappointing for Double O. I would imagine if the health department showed up yesterday, they would have had several violations. We all left there starving and had to order pizza for dinner when we got home. Waste of money! I have to say this restaurant is one of the best I've visited since reporting on Yelp! I'll start with the menu, if you can't find a meal you like, then the problem is with you. Dieting? Well again, the have something you can eat. Gluten your problem, they have that covered. An extremely well rounded menu! The restaurant itself if beautiful and clean and comfortable. As for service, we had a young man whose name is Anthony. His personality made the meal a pleasure, some joking and kidding with our group added to it. We stopped in with another couple to celebrate our annual Christmas dinner out late!!! We started with the delicious bread and tomato oil dipping sauce. It was so good and the dipping sauce was out of this world. It's like chopped fresh tomatoes, onions and garlic with fresh chopped olives mixed in EVOO. So good. Then we ordered the Santa Fe rolls, the Buffalo cauliflower and Buffalo chicken rolls. They were all delicious and we washed them down with espresso martinis, the pineapple skinny drink and a strawberry drink. I can tell you the martinis were delicious, I can't really speak to the other drinks I ordered the BBQ Beef sandwich and it was good. Not drop dead delicious but good. It had jalapeños and batter fried onions on top with a nicely dressed side salad. Hubby had the Reuben. Good but not great. Not bad place to eat in Wappingers. My mom enjoys coming here with one of her social groups. I've been here a few times when I visit. Have tried: Branzino Tuna tartare tower - very tasty Crab cake appetizer - also very good but pricey Pasta Buttera - Tomato cream pasta with sausage - watch out it's spicy Vodka Pasta with seafood - I enjoyed this one! Bourbon Beef Stroganoff with pappardelle - very rich but good! Paella - not bad and flavorful, lots of seafood, but soupy and more like a risotto The restaurant is spacious and pretty clean, and there's tons of parking out back. There's also outdoor seating which is great in the summer. It can be kind of loud at dinnertime but it was pretty quiet during weekday lunch, service was ok - the host seemed kind of displeased when we asked for seating by the window and our waitress kept trying to push us to be done, bringing bag and bill before we were even ready. Went there this past Sunday for their brunch buffet. I don't know when it came back after Covid but it definitely isn't what it used to be. Seems like it got quite a bit more expensive and the food doesn't seem nearly as good. Omelette station looked OK but only had a few choices and the only protein available was ham no bacon and no sausage. On the buffet, the scrambled eggs were pretty cool and flavorless the tray of bacon and sausage. The sausage was delicious and seemed it was deep fried so it was very tasty. I'm trying to up my vegetable intake this year and tbh, I wasn't in the mood for anything super heavy. I still wanted some protein though because I knew I'd get hungry later. I opted for the Cobb salad, which I haven't had anywhere in years since they've been pretty disappointing in the past few years. Instead of the house vinaigrette, I ordered ranch on the side, and honestly, this salad hit the spot, It was nice and big, full of all of the traditional Cobb salad flavors: egg, cheese, chicken, bacon, etc. the salad was fresh and not wilted. I'm sorry to have to make this review, my last visit to the Double O itself was pretty sorry. Going for 10 years often multiple times a month or multiple times a week . It appears that once the Double O realized that they could lower their standards after covid it seemed to have continued into a slippery slope. First the portions got substantially smaller and continued to get smaller. My last visit the seat was shredded, the lemon chicken now came with 2 chicken nuggets, the turkey sandwich came slathered with mayo after a specific request for no mayo. The turkey was pre-sliced processed meat, never was before, & it was dry/hard for about a half inch around the edges. So not only was it cold cuts, it was old cold cuts . No one in my party ordered fish but it didn't really matter because the stench of fish was all over the restaurant . Fresh fish should not permeate the air. A member of my party ordered a beer on tap and it tasted real funky. Do you clean the taps & hoses? This was the last of a string of issues that we've been having with the double O for the last year unfortunately it was our last. read more

My BBQ brisket sandwich was good, but for me the portion and presentation were not worth $17.95. Also, $19.90 for a nothing salad with a small amount of chicken was an exceptionally poor value.
