Came here with my SIL and had a wonderful lunch! The buffalo cauliflower is delicious and was surprised that it was not breaded. Honestly so so good, we didn't even miss any frying plus better for the waist line. My chicken salad was chock full of Cajun chicken and bacon with hard boiled eggs and cheese along with all the veggies. The salad had the dressing all mixed in but not too much which was perfect. If you care about that, you can order it on the side, I am sure. My SIL got the Nashville hot chicken sandwich and couldn't have loved it more! Great flavor and lots of crunch alongside fresh fresh-cut French fries. A great place to sit and talk with great food. Our waiter was attentive and so nice. What's not to love? This Wappingers spot is right in town, they serve up tasty food, quality beverages, and the staff will treat you well. The bar is quite nice, and definitely clean. Even better, when it's nice outside, there's an adorable back deck that's perfect for sipping a cider, or one of their serious selection of craft beers on tap. There are also cocktails available, but they seem to truly care about the tap selection. Right now they've got a 16% ABV stout out of Brooklyn on tap, which is downright dangerous. This seems like the rare bar that not only fries things well, but it also cares about the rest of its menu too. No one is ever sad about bang bang shrimp and chicken fingers and fries (we order like adults around here), but the salads are very solid as well. There are even vegetarian and vegan options for your friends who aren't quite as meaty (technical term). And that's all I have to say about that. read more

My husband and I stopped by County Fare around 5 PM on Sunday, July 6, hoping to try something new. We had driven in from Central Valley, NY and were looking forward to relaxing and bar hopping for the evening. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. The bartender seemed more focused on socializing with a couple at the bar and a few other patrons she clearly knew. Meanwhile, we were barely acknowledged. We said "thank you" multiple times and got no response--not even a smile. It honestly felt like we were bothering her just by being there. After one drink, we decided to head out and ended up across the street at Nite & Day, where the staff was much friendlier and more welcoming. Thankfully, they turned the night around for us. Not sure if we caught County Fare on an off day, but based on this experience, we won't be rushing back. read more

"If I wasn't so hungry, I wouldn't be eating this" was the verdict from everyone in our group. Okay, the fries were good -- but the fried chicken sandwiches and the burgers were just awful. Strangely enough everything looked fantastic, but the taste wasn't there. Mixed drinks were also disappointing. As for the music -- better left unsaid. We were in one of those moods where we wanted to try a new spot. I wanted comfort food; something warm and cozy. Once I saw chili and tots on the menu, I was sold. I ordered a bowl of chili and a side of tots. First off, the side of tots was huge. You definitely received your money's worth. They were also extremely crispy. Maybe over cooked? No sure but they were good. The true sadness comes from the chili. I love chili. I make it all the time and I'm pretty open minded with different styles of chili. But this chili, was really, really terrible. First off, it was luke warm like it were sitting around and someone forgot to heat it up. It was super dark and tasted very off. There was way too much chili powder. I was practically gagging on it. It was also extremely salty. I couldn't even tolerate it and trust me, I tried. I threw the chili out. Place was cute inside though. $8 for kids hot dogs and fries - absolutely fine for kids menu. $17 for half salad and sandwich - Brussels salad was terrible. We went here for lunch with a group of moms and kids before sledding in a local park. The waiter was super friendly and accommodating. He was patient with all the picky children ordering their customized meals (a burger with JUST meat and cheese LOL). I had a New England clam chowder soup that was a special of the day. Delicious! My daughter had a Cesar salad with salmon and really enjoyed it. My other daughter had grilled cheese and said it tasted good. I wish the bathroom was more than one person at a time. Very good food. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a casual great meal. We started off with the County Fare Tots which were fabulous!!! See photo. Plenty to share and more to take home for the next night. Seemed to be homemade tots not the frozen variety. The Tots were big and crunchy with excellent toppings. I had an excellent County Fare Cheeseburger which was cooked perfectly as ordered. My dining partner had a Grilled Chicken sandwich that he said was excellent. Both came with nice crispy fries that were great and enough to take home the leftovers. We were so overwhelmed by the delicious look to our food we didn't take any photos of our entrees. Whoever said that the suburbs never have good food was seriously disturbed AND has never been to County Fare in downtown Wappingers Falls! We went here today with my boyfriend's dad as it is one of his favorite restaurants, and I think it's safe to say that it's now one of mine too! Located in the vintage-looking business district, County Fare fits the bill of a rustic saloon style eatery and bar that you would expect from the surrounding aesthetics. It's a small but well kept restaurant with handsome wood detailing, a vibrant bar, and comfortable booths for families and friends to kick back over heaping portions of delicious comfort food - all in all, an awesome place in my book! We were here for lunch on a Friday afternoon, so it wasn't too crowded. However, we drove by later in the night, and the place was hopping, so I'm drawing the conclusion that County Fare is the hottest spot in town on the weekends. Makes sense: with friendly service, a menu that rocks for vegans and meatheads alike, and a robust beer and cocktail menu, how could it not be? Speaking of vegan: this is an awesome place to take vegan / vegetarian friends, as they let you sub "Fakin Bacon" or tempeh for meat in most of the dishes. Right on! Our server was Kara, and she kept our drinks refilled and food coming out promptly with a smile and a great personality. She's fabulous, and you should request her if you go! We sort of let my boyfriend's dad take the reins with ordering shared appetizers, as he's a regular here, so within a few minutes, steaming plates of calamari, sautéed pierogi, and fresh baked pretzel sticks were on the table and we dug in! I can't decide what was my favorite - it's like picking a favorite child. The pretzels were soft and buttery and served with spicy (!!!) mustard and hot beer cheese, the pierogi came crisp with a side of sour cream and caramelized onion, and the calamari had the most addictive garlic aioli for dipping. I'd order all three again in a heartbeat! As for entrees, I kept it light since all those appetizers had my stomach feeling pretty full. I opted for the spinach salad with fresh beets, walnuts, goat cheese, and grilled chicken. The chicken was a little dry for my taste, but the earthy beets, creamy goat cheese, and tasty balsamic dressing made up for it. My boyfriend and his dad both got the chicken marsala, which was a huge portion served with sautéed veggies and mashed potatoes. I snuck a bite of my boyfriend's chicken, and it was moist, tender, and flavorful. I'll probably get that when we go back for dinner! We enjoyed this all over a whole lot of laughs - the best kind of conversation in a restaurant like this. I am now super confident in the culinary prowess of suburban New York, and County Fare was the one to make me believe! County Fare is a great restaurant and bar overall. To be completely transparent, we have had some hit or miss experiences (food) over the years, but we keep coming back. They've always made right any issues. We've dined in about a dozen times and thoroughly enjoy the atmosphere and food/drink choices. They're very active on the Untapped/Beer Menus apps, so their tap list is always fresh with the latest availabilities. We were hopeful that during the pandemic, County Fare would still offer near contactless orders on food and drinks. Sure enough, we called to place a beer order to go, selecting some of the highly coveted HV Brewery Sour IPAs. We pulled up right in front and ordered through a makeshift screen/window at their front door. Ordering was easy and everything was extra sanitary. The employees had fresh gloves and had disinfected pens to use for signing (credit card). Obviously, the beer was phenomenal, and was served in plastic 32oz containers. Will be going back again. On another note, the HV Brew orders were part of a local fundraiser, where partial profits from those beer sales went to local Wappingers businesses negatively impacted by the pandemic. read more

We got water and menus, but the waiter seemed more interested in chatting with coworkers and guys at the bar than serving us. Finally got a drink order in. Had to ask if there were specials. Begrudgingly had to do an errand at the mall and the only way I could be coaxed to go would be finding good vegan food afterwards! Thankfully I found this place and it fit the bill! This area of Wappingers looks like it's going under so revival - some businesses nearby looked closed or being renovated but this spot was fabulous and kicking. Excellent beer selection, many NY beers as well as some ciders and affordable wines. A bar area, booths, or tables to sit in. You could definitely fit a crowd if you called ahead I am sure. The main draw for me was the sweet precious balance of a few vegan items with non vegan items. I really appreciate a place that makes the effort to put on real filling vegan dishes that aren't just a pile of veggies that leave me hungry an hour later. So the food- such huge portions for the tempeh Reuben, which I had. I normally clean my plate but I could not get through all my fries because sandwich was so giant! I could probably write my review just on their Bavarian Bread Pudding - like no other bread pudding I've had - but I of course had a balanced meal first. That began with their Buffalo cauliflower, which had a nice medium kick to it, accompanied by a rich bleu cheese sauce for dipping. They also managed to keep the cauliflower cooked yet firm without being mushy. I followed that with a chicken pot pie. I happen to be one of those people who actually likes burnt toast, so when they told me the crust was slightly singed and they would make a new one for me if I wanted, I declined and enjoyed mine as is, very much. The sauce contained a lot of thyme too, another plus. Then came the dessert, accompanied by ice cream from Zoe's. It was difficult to share this. And of course, it was balanced out more with a couple of different beers from New York State breweries. The atmosphere here is just like the food - comfortable. Service was friendly and casual yet very attentive. What a great addition to downtown Wappingers! read more

I love County Fare! I wouldn't normally think this would be a place that a vegan could have actual choices that are unique creations and not some kind of last minute weak attempt at cobbling something together. I'm so glad appearances can be deceiving! There are a bunch of vegan apps, burgers/wraps and entrees, and even accompanying condiments like vegan mayo and vegan bleu cheese for the cauliflower wings. We came on a Saturday night at what I thought was a super early time (6:15), so I didn't make reservations. The place was packed, even the bar. I recommend reservations on the weekend (I wish they had No Wait! It's a Yelp feature that enables you to put your name on a virtual waitlist so that you're not lingering awkwardly at the door for god knows how long). Luckily we had to wait at most 10 minutes, but were told it might be a half hour. Judging by how crowded it was when left about 90 minutes later, they don't mind you crowding the bar area while you wait for your table. I'm always just worried I'm in the servers' way. There was a large table of very loud cool hippie Pantsuit Nation moms and grandmas behind us, having a grand old time. I am not a mom nor a grandma... nor a hippie, but I found myself wanting to be a part of their posse. I only mention it because the vibe of the place is really pretty awesome, full of all types of people, families and friends. It actually made me feel like I was in New Orleans again, rather than NY. If you're looking for a quiet, romantic place, this probably wouldn't be it (at least on weekends). I was pretty hungry and I can never say no to Buffalo cauliflower, especially when offered a vegan dipping sauce at that. They don't bread theirs, which is great if you're G/F or looking to keep the carbs down. I was just happy that it left me able to handle the hefty TLT wrap (+ fries) that followed. My food was simple, healthy and tasty. I appreciate that the wrap is bursting with fresh lettuce, tomato and tempeh, with just the right amount of vegan mayo. If avocado were an option, it would take it to the next level! Also, next time I need to order extra pickles. Cocktails! Wine! Beer! Lots of choices! I stuck with a tasty Pinot, but I'm glad that Prosecco is also an option. I am pretty sure we'll be regulars here. read more

Visited again towards the end of the summer. It continues to be inconsistent. Some things are great, others not so much. I would avoid the Buffalo cauliflower .. it was extremely disappointing, not crispy, not enough sauce, bland, etc. Wings were a miss this time too - same problem, not crispy or flavorful. The mozzarella triangles were good. Waitstaff is very nice. Unfortunately, consistency is important to me and this was my fourth visit, so I don't have plans to return. read more

I've driven by this place a few times and never noticed it. I'm glad I finally got to try it. This is your standard bar/restaurant, nothing too different about it. I did appreciate how big the place is. From the outside it seems small but one you enter the restaurant opens up, so it's perfect for groups. About the food, it was excellent! I got some tots which had bacon and cheese on there(I had ate just an hour previous). Although the tots had a good amount of cheese on there, they were still firm and crispy just how I like. My friends got burgers and they all said that they were really good. I definitely would try this place again! read more

Really REALLY happy to have a nice place that caters a bit to the vegetarian customer!! I commend this place for being one of the very few in this area. I would highly recommend coming here. It's clean, the staff is friendly, and the food is good! I ordered the Fakin' BLT Wrap, and it was very good, but I do have one, small recommendation: please don't overcook the tempeh. The tempeh was a bit burned on the edges, and I think I know what happened. Sometimes cooks think tempeh takes longer to cook than it usually takes because they're so used to cooking meat. Tempeh, and other soy proteins, require very little cooking. It's basically just needing to be heated up and served. Once I cut off the burned edges, it was perfect!
