We have had an early (4:30pm) dinner this past weekend. We have been there several times before but over 15 years ago. No specific reason for the lapse. just never got back. Our past experience was: Food and service 5 stars, Atmosphere: upscale (dressy), Prices: reasonable for the quality and portions. The steak Au Poivre was the best I have ever had. New experience: The atmosphere, is more casual -(almost "rustic"), The host wearing a flannel shirt, and the waitress wearing a down vest. After other guests arrived, I thought it was a bit noisy but then realized there wasn't a person dining under 80 (guessing hearing problems, LOL), I'm 65 and felt like a kid, LOL. No worries, it didn't affect my food! LOL!. Food and service: The calamari was skimpy but cooked perfectly. The French onion soup was VERY VERY good!! The Steak Au Poivre... is STILL the best I have ever had! The fries, well I like the crisp-crisp-crisp, but did not specify.. They came out perfect to my liking. The bourbon list, only Knob Creek and Bullitt, drinkable but it would have been nice to see some eagle rare, Blantins, etc. The "house" wine was yummy too. No dessert, we were very full. My daughter just moved back to the area. I was at this restaurant about 15 years ago and I remember it being pretty good, so when we were looking for a place to eat, I suggested Stonehedge. The Food was very good.. However, it was quite uncomfortable when our waitress was frantically running around the dining room. it was quite scary and distracting. Then we received our bill, and there was no line item for the tax. The tax was included in the total number. (like, was she hoping for a tip based on that total number?) Also, my party decided to stay a bit after we paid. It was late, but still not closing time, and there were other people there still. We started getting the looks and comments from the wait staff that they wanted us to leave.. "if you stay longer we're gonna charge you rent", one of them said. We were not happy. Food is decent. Portions keep getting smaller and smaller. Very small veggie sides which is how you can make a plate look full for cheap, if you are a smart owner! Farrah and Kim are great. They are so sweet and make your experience wonderful. I absolutely hate going there when their occasional bartender Steven is there. No one likes someone who talks about themselves all the time, especially when you're the customer. How you make your money is by letting the customer talk which makes them feel good and makes you money. Bartending 101. All he does is talk about himself and how rich he is and it's all lies. Very unprofessional. It's obnoxious and total turn off for a customer trying to wind down and enjoy themselves with some quiet time. Like another reviewer here, I've passed by and wondered if this was just a banquet hall. I don't recall ever seeing an advertisement for them. I finally went with the family to check it out and it was really good. Kind of surprising for the area, as there's only one other restaurant (very close by) and nothing else around for several miles. Based on the location and lack of advertising, I kind of expected it to be an old-school place full of old-school people that had been coming here since the previous century. There is some of that, but I have to say, the food was really good. Service is slow. To be clear; I mean the time between when you order and when you're served is slow. The wait staff is good. Our server - I didn't get her name but she had long hair- was excellent and was really hustling around the place. (There was another waitress (short hair) who kept bumping into our chairs...) So I mean this as a positive; from the time taken, it's clear that all the food is cooked to order. Another thing about these old-school places is they often tend to have boring/uninspired food and attempt to make up for it by over-doing the salt and/or garlic. None of that was going on at Stonehedge though. They have a surprisingly large menu, with a variety of interesting offerings. I got seafood and it was all fresh and cooked correctly. Portion size was good. We also tried their salads (also excellent) and kids' menu items. Really no complaints about any of it. They also have a full bar. Parking is ample as others have mentioned, and the location is quite easy to get to, being right on route 9W (a major north-south road in the area). I've been driving past this wonderful looking place for decades with never the time to stop and dine. We finally had that chance. We ordered chilled Cucumber soup for starters. expecting the typical green lemony herb summer treat. We received a cold white creamy soup that tasted like the base for clam chowder. I didn't finish it. My friend who said this was her Aunt's favorite restaurant for decades, ordered the char with couscous which was blended with fresh corn which was tasty. I've driven past Stonehedge for over 2 decades and never stopped in for dinner before because I thought the establishment only catered for large private events such as weddings, family reunions, are large private holiday parties, etc. Somehow, I had recently learned, though, that Stonehedge is also open for dinner to the public, and so I dined here last month with hubby and two friends before heading up to the Headless Horseman Hayride. Well, all four of us were very pleased with every aspect of Stonehedge and we all stated we would be happy to return here for dinner in the near future. Horrible experience! Went there on my way to The headless horseman. The menu and pictures looked promising. Walked in with a party of 3 and was told it would be a 40 minute wait. I wish I took a picture, the restaurant had 7 empty tables! Was told oh maybe we can serve you dinner at the bar or perhaps you should drive down to Molly's. Defiantly didn't feel wanted. We had not been here since the pandemic started. The food & service was always good. The service was still good. We went the first week in March, a party of six, to celebrate a birthday. I was looking forward to having one of the large NY strip steaks I have had here in the past. As was another one of us. I was surprised when it arrived and was only a 1/2-inch-thick cut of meat, and it was not very tender, it was a little chewy. A pasta dish had no flavor and was tasteless, the fried fish platter had two small over cooked very thin, pieces of flounder, a couple of tiny scallops, 2 shrimp, the shrimp was not bad, but the baked clam was the consistency of ice cream. The stuffed flounder was good. The filet mignon was small and not very tender. I ordered a draft beer with my dinner, unfortunately, it was flat. But the biggest surprise was when we asked for the check, we were informed that if we were going to pay with a credit card, they would have to add 3% to the total bill. There would be no charge if we paid cash. So, in my opinion one good dish out of six is not worth the trip. read more

My girlfriend and I went here for our Valentine's dinner this year. My first question before I reserve any table for Valentine's day is to make sure they're offering a full menu that day and not the 2-4 choice menu with entries the size of Happy Meals at the price of gourmet lobster. Something I like to call a Rip-off Menu. They told me the menu here would be limited on Valentines day, but not Rip-off Menu style limited. There were still about 20 entries to choose from. All in all the meal was very good and priced very well for the Valentine's day holiday. My only issue was the number of bones found in my Salmon meal. I can say at least three times I had to fish out small bones from my mouth while eating. If it weren't for that, this review would've been a 5 star review. Went to Stonehenge last night for a Christmas Party. The hall was nicely decorated, and arraigned in a very flowing matter. We had a large gathering and it felt like a small intimate affair. The prime rib was too die for. The chicken Frances was good, but needed some more lemon butter sauce. The only draw back I found was the bar area. I dined at Stonehedge Restaurant tonight and left feeling so sorry for the waitstaff and owner. The customers leaving negative reviews were out of line and honestly embarrassing to witness. The waitress helping them left their table in tears and the other waitress was treated equally as bad. I'm a regular here, and have had nothing but great experiences. My family has been going to Stonehedge for several years. We have gone for events such as birthdays, mothers/fathers day and so on. Stonehedge has always been consistent, and my Grandmother or father would always request the same waiter. That all changed upon our visit on Saturday,sadly.I planned to visit my father. I am in NYC, so I traveled specifically to visit him so he can visit his favorite restaurant.I made a reservation in case of the restaurant becoming very busy. We decided to go out Saturday because my father preferred doing so. We arrive and I am polite, smiling (as usual) . It is me and my husband and my father and stepmom. We are seated at the worst possible table. Apparently the restaurant was hosting a birthday party. I was barely able to hear because there was some sort of "vent" that let all of the music in. Then, we are given a very brusque waitress. I continued , along with my family, to exercise manners and smile. I had to PAY for a terrible dining experience. I live in NYC and restaurants are plenty. In fact, if a restaurant does not perform well, there are many more in NYC. That is not the case where my father lives. We love Stonehedge, and hope that this is just an isolated incident. Our waitress was brusque, rolled her eyes numerous times, spilled water near me and did not even say a word about it. My entree, the stuffed cornish hen was inedible. The stuffing was edible, but the chicken was so dry that I could use it as a scrub brush. My father, stepmom and husband liked their entrees. Probably because they ordered seafood, and Stonehedge is good for seafood. I cannot afford to dine out much, and am on a budget. And when I do, I like to be treated with a modicum of respect. I also like to have food that is edible. I have worked in restaurants and the service industry, and never treated anybody in such manner. As a result, I had no choice but to leave a poor tip. I hate to be a bearer of a bad review, but I am hoping through this that this great restaurant can learn and adjust accordingly. I am also writing this review, because after several years of visiting and having family dinners here I am truly saddened. We came in for dinner Sat. Night and everything was excellent! We started with the French Onion Soup and the Baked Stuffed Clams. The soup had a perfectly crisp cheese top and the onion soup was so flavorful. I even remarked to the waitress that I eas eating it slow because I didn't want it to end. The clams were delicious as usual. My husband loves them so much I stop in and get an order to go as a surprise when he gets home from work. The salad was nice and fresh. We always order the crumbly bleu cheese and have never been disappointed. I had the Chicken Francaise with Lyonnaise potatoes. Two huge chicken breasts arrived and were so tender and juicy. The Lyonnaise potatoes are my favorite and were crispy and delicious. My husband had his usual Seafood Crepes. The crepes are so amazing he has never ordered anything else. Chock full of Shrimp and Scallops in a light crepe with a Chive cream sauce. They were cooked perfectly. I can't blame him for sticking to his favorite. They are consistently perfect. The accompanying vegetable of the day served in a bowl for the table was fresh haricort vertes with crispy bacon. They were fresh and crisp and I could have eaten another bowl. We were too full for dessert and even took home doggie bags. The portions are plentiful. My dogs will be seeing none of the leftovers though. I'm just glad they can't read this. read more

This restaurant has got to be one of the best restaurants in the area. Kudos to the chef for the consistency of the food. I've been eating here as a regular for over 6 years, and the food last night tasted just the way it did my first time there. Kudos to the waitstaff for always being so professional and attentive. Kudos to the bartender for always making the best Manhattan for miles around! Boo to Myra J and Evan J for lying about the experience they had last night! I was there and I witnessed everything. First of all, Myra claims the food to be "less than good". That's strange because when I walked past their table to use the restroom, everyone at their table was devouring their food as if it was their first meal in months. She also states that she will never go back! Good. Stay away. We don't need people like you to ruin another one of our dining experiences again! And Evan J, you know darn well the service wasn't awful. I felt bad for your server whjo was running around the entire night making sure you and the rest of your parety of over 20 people enjoyed yourselves. You all looked like you were having a great time until you had asked for separate checks for everyone in your 20+ party! That old man who made your waitress cry by yelling at her and pointing his finger in her face sure wasn't happy when he got a separate total instead of a separate check like he asked for. I believe your waitress told everyone she will be providing separate totals, not separate checks at the beginnning the night, so I don't know why his panties were in a bunch when he got the separate total! I didn't see any children in your party so I would assume that everyone knew how to add (i know, that's a huge assumption I'm making after seeing some of the people in your party) so why can't you just figure out what you each owed by adding the cost of what you ordered yourself? What did your family do before restaurants started offering separate checks when they computerized their checks? It wasn't the staff of Stonehedge who was immature and disrespectful. We had the Shrimp Cocktail, French Onion Soup, Mussels Portugaise, Escargot a la Bourguignonne, Salad, Rip Eye Steak, one drink and Creme Brulee for dessert. We even had two orders of escargot!!! When the bill came, we were astonished at how low the total was. It was one of the best unforgettable meals I had in such a long time!!! RUDE, RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL Our family consisting of 20 people decided to have somewhat of a reunion at Stonehenge. We were set up in the bar room and without being asked was immediately informed that we could not have separate checks. We stated that we do not want separate checks but group as the table consisted of different family members, my group consisted of 6 out of a table of 10. The waitress said that she would have to ask permission, she returned to the table to inform us that it was OK. After extremely slow service, 3 hours later, it was time for the check. My wife asked for ours and our waiteress said that it was all on one. I mentioned to her that she said that she would separate the groups out and this was not very professional. She asked of I would like to speak with an owner and I stated that I would appreciate that. Out of the dinning room comes a waitress screaming that she would not tolerate anyone "screaming" at her waitress. We all looked at one another, what is she talking about? She went on to say that she would not take any future reservations under our name. The other owner "Chef" came out and when the situation was quietly and politely explained to him he stated that our request should not have been a problem. Our waitress told my cousin and her husband, who sat at another table to "pay your bill and leave, she stated that she does not even work there." The owner/waitress was willing to have a party of 20 leave and not come back for a waitress who obviously lied to her about being "screamed" at. A anticipated enjoyable evening turned out to be a nightmare. read more

Nooooo. Cocktail tasty, but 'way too sweet. The mixed salad was exactly as fresh and imaginative as anything you could pick up in a bag at Hannafords. The crabcake was nicely browned, but ice cold inside and buried under a horseradish sauce so firey that it was difficult to taste the crab itself. The broiled scallops and shrimp looked delicious but I took a bite and had to spit it out. I won't eat anything that full of iodine. The food is fairly good but the service was terrible. I recently had dinner there with a group. Everyone ordered something different and the meals appeared to be okay. Not superior but good. The server however was rough and unpleasant. My plate was dropped in front of me not placed on the table. She put a bottle of ketchup on the table so roughly it fell in someone's dinner plate. My family and I dined at Stonehedge on Friday night. We were happy to be able to get a reservation last minute, as many other places were busy that night. My parents had been there before and were happy, however this will be the last visit there. When we commented that the water tasted like chlorine, we notified a server, and she took 3 out of the 5 glasses away - two in the party hadn't drank theirs yet. She brought back 3 new glasses of water that were better, and when I asked what the difference was, she said she got it from the bar, and that the Health Department had recently come and did something to their water, and it must have been flushing out. I wondered why she wouldn't have brought us all new waters, knowing that it was bad. Then came the meal. The salad was just ok....had a lot of kale in it that was tough to eat. One of our guests ordered the mussels, and as soon as they were set in front of her, she knew they were bad, just by the smell. We notified our server, who offered her something else, but she was pretty turned off at that point. The steak that I ordered medium rare came out raw, and when I sent it back, to be prepared medium rare, was returned rare still. At that point, since my family was done eating, I didn't want anything else. Shortly after I told the server that it wasn't any better, he went into the kitchen, and we all heard sceaming from the kitchen (obsenitys, F-ing S$%&!!!). Totally unprofessional. My dad's seafood platter tasted of frozen fish, and was served without lemon. The decor is dated, the food was not good at all. This would be a great location for Restaurant Impossible!! I give two stars for the fact that we were able to get a reservation last minute (now I know why), and for the rolls- best part of the meal. read more
