We finally made it here and we're so happy we did. Upon walking into the building you go down the stairs to enter the wine bar. Once there the vibe feels rustic, historic, little speakeasy vibes. Service was fantastic. Everyone was so nice and knowledgeable about all the different wines available. The charcuterie grazing board was every and any thing you could possibly want, at least we thought so. Sooooo good!! The dippy duet of the tapenade and pistachio cream dip thing (sorry forgot the name) delicious. We ordered an entree to share and everyone raved about the lamb chops. Safe to say we'll be back. Beautifully vibed out and tucked in just the right spot. My wife and I were so happy and surprised when we walked in with just about 20 minutes before their "date-night Happy Hour special" would end. Such a good deal, $40 for 2 glasses from their signature wine list and a charcuterie board of your choice. The server was kind and informative, very friendly and open to conversation. Wow. Just wow. When we reviewed the menu online we knew we had to go here. Being from Illinois, the Chicago speak easy decor really resonated. And our server was beyond helpful!!!! This place is so cool! I chose this spot for my mothers birthday dinner It's always nice to have an inviting restaurant in the Hudson Valley area - especially in Poughkeepsie NY. The entrance is downstairs and has speakeasy vibes, you enter into a small seating area and a bar. We were seated immediately. The service here is very good, the waiters are attentive and the pacing was great. We got our meals in a timely manner. The food was spectacular, We had the 3-course Hudson Valley special. This included a mini charcuterie board, a duck entree and a peanut mousse dessert. I've only had duck a few times, but it was juicy and paired well with the berry sauce. One of my favorite places in town, great place to have a drink or a meal. The staff is very knowledgeable about the wines, and there is always new wines to try out. The vibe is immaculate and can be romantic for a first date or 20th date, but also can be a fun Friday hangout with a group of friends. I cannot speak enough praise of 1915 Wine Cellar to reflect the pleasure of my recent visits. Owners Russ and Elke are truly welcoming and make every effort to ensure patrons enjoy themselves. Staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. Patrons are pleasant. Noise level is low making conversation easy. Culinary Institute students embrace 1915 with, apparently, the full endorsement of faculty. Veterans are well respected. My Riesling was excellent and those near me at the bar eating lauded their food selections. Rather than sports, the TV by the bar shows art and food programs (a quite refreshing alternative). I love this place! It is a small family owned business, and they really get so much right. It is downstairs in a very cozy space. Sometimes they have music, but there is always good music playing if they don't have someone live. The food is fantastic. Varied dishes on the menu, but everything I have ever tried here has tasted great. The service is also wonderful. The bartenders know how to pair wine with food extremely well. I got the short rib poutine recently, and the bartender recommended a dry riesling. It was perfect. It cut the richness of the short ribs, and I never would have paired those two together. We have visited this establishment on many occasions - each time it is a wonderful experience. Just last evening we booked in for a private dinner - just our small party of 4, Grant the sommelier and Ariel, the wonderful chef. They curated such a lovely evening for us - a craft apertif with tasty amuse bouche, and then a multi course meal with interesting and tasty wine pairings. Dinner included a wonderful simple salad with a French style orange dressing, homemade pasta and savory duck.......all with lovely music and fun conversation. Cozy, romantic, good for groups, etc. the atmosphere is whatever you'd like it to be - we visited for date night but saw some small groups, too. It's very much "up to you". We were told to sit wherever we'd like when we arrived early evening on a Saturday. There was only one other table at the time but more people trickled in as it got later. The servers/bartenders are extremely helpful and will offer great suggestions. We were surprised to see kangaroo on the menu and learned about kangaroo farms in New Jersey, which is where the meat was from. The menu is unique- like many other wine bars, you can expect to find charcuterie, flatbreads, etc. but they also feature meats like elk, duck, and of course the kangaroo, which was a special. We also ordered the mushroom soup, roasted bone marrow, and duck confit flatbread. Everything was tasty and the wine was well-paired thanks to our server. The space is super clean, QR Code Menu (with online order at your table, 5 medical grade HEPA filters that are spread throughout the space, and (according to their site - the MERV-13 filters are changed out regularly in the HVAC system). Went yesterday (4:30) with 3 beer drinkers. They loved the vast, varied selections of beer, with recommendations from the bartender Mike. Meanwhile, Mike took the time to help me decide upon a red with his sommelier training. Another staff member, Matt, is in training to be a cicerone. This place is a labor of love, and I hope you feel the urge to give some back. It's cozy and comfortable inside, and the owners and staff are very attentive. Even when we were "hiding" around the corner on a sofa in front of the faux fireplace, we were visited frequently. The charcuterie plate for two ($16 for 1, $10 for each additional) had a large assortment of meats and cheeses, plus bread, jam, and mixed nuts. It took us quite a while to finish it. The wine selection was very interesting too, and we enjoyed the Malbec we ordered. Parking is super-convenient either in the lot across the street or the second lot just down the street. Been waiting for a wine bar in Poughkeepsie and finally, one has arrived. It's a bit hard to find and there isn't any signage yet, but it's early, so I'm sure this will be added. Really nice space with a wide selection of wines by the glass and bottle. They have a small selection of beer and both a wine and beer tap will be added in the future. Decor is really nice, space is cozy and welcoming. Lots of exposed brick and reclaimed wood. Staff is friendly, offer good service and like to talk about wine. Plenty of seating both at the bar, cozy couch near an electric fireplace and at the high top tables and chairs surrounding wine barrels. Menu consists of small bites like olives, cheese and charcuterie plates. Those with a sweet tooth will find locally made cake pop bites. I enjoyed a Sagrantino from Umbria ($15) and my husband had a French Chardonnay ($9) both were very good. We shared a soft cheese plate ($10). The three cheeses were really unique and delicious, but served a bit too cold. The local honey that came on the side was amazing, but served in a silver pitcher that made it difficult to get to. Perhaps serving it in a tiny ramekin or directly on the plate would be better. And a proper cheese knife would be a plus. But, these are tiny details that I'm sure will get ironed out in time. We hung around past happy hour and took advantage of another glass each on special at $7 each, which were both a good value. The stemware game is strong here - glasses are good quality. Happy hour is 4-6pm with special pricing for a limited selection of wine for $8; Wines by the glass range from $10-$18+ from places like California, Washington, France, Spain, Italy and Argentina represented so far - though I'm sure that will change. Looking forward to some of the special events in the coming months, which include plans to partner with local chefs. Nice addition to the downtown P'ok food/wine scene! Genuinely one of the best dining experiences we've ever had. We came in the day before Valentine's Day so we had the place to ourselves and Grant made us feel so special. The food was out of this world and we could tell that the menu was curated with care and executed to perfection. Easily one of the best places to go in Poughkeepsie! From the drinks and food to the service, you are guaranteed a great time here. We try and get to 1915 every week (sometimes twice in a week...). The owners and staff are top notch and are always ready to serve you the best wine for whatever you are in the mood for. The food has always been delicious whether it was from the standard menu or the weekly specials. Charcuterie plates, olives, meatball subs, sandwiches, truffles... they have something for everyone! Very interesting wine bar. They have a ton of choices which can be very confusing. But the bartenders are great. They will explain everything and let you taste what seemed to me to be an unlimited amount of wines. The food menu is limited but what they do have was very good.
