Very cool basement restaurant/bar with staff knowledgeable about wines and pairing. We had a baked brie and charcuterie board and everything tasted amazing. Our waiter was attentive and very nice.

Nice basement wine cellar. Good selection of wine, bar tenders knowledgeable about their selections and the regions where they come from. They had wine specials that came with complimentary bread with tapenade. We also ordered the cheese platter with assorted chocolate. Good pairing. They have live music and a nice nook for about 8 people. Otherwise, the rest is tables and chairs. Nice cozy place if you look the brick ambience.

Wow. Just wow. When we reviewed the menu online we knew we had to go here. Being from Illinois, the Chicago speak easy decor really resonated. And our server was beyond helpful!!!! Tonight we enjoyed the seasonal charcuterie board, the humus duet, the primavera and dinner special of mushroom ravioli on Marsala sauce. Solid wine choices and surprise was a white port. Solid and slightly reminiscent of a Japanese plum wine.

The food and service here is impeccable. Staffed by a knowledgeable and energetic team, lead by some amazing owners. My wife and I were in the area and were impressed with the quality of food, types of wine, and decor. When I returned here solo one night, I was welcomed by the owner and staff as if I was a longtime friend. I cannot recommend them enough. I will definitely return.

This place is so cool! I chose this spot for my mothers birthday dinner It's always nice to have an inviting restaurant in the Hudson Valley area - especially in Poughkeepsie NY. The entrance is downstairs and has speakeasy vibes, you enter into a small seating area and a bar. We were seated immediately. The service here is very good, the waiters are attentive and the pacing was great. We got our meals in a timely manner. The food was spectacular, We had the 3-course Hudson Valley special. This included a mini charcuterie board, a duck entree and a peanut mousse dessert. I've only had duck a few times, but it was juicy and paired well with the berry sauce. The ambience was very alluring, despite it being dimly lit the long dark tables and decor made it feel like an actual cellar! I hope to return soon! 100% recommend

I cannot speak enough praise of 1915 Wine Cellar to reflect the pleasure of my recent visits. Owners Russ and Elke are truly welcoming and make every effort to ensure patrons enjoy themselves. Staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. Patrons are pleasant. Noise level is low making conversation easy. Culinary Institute students embrace 1915 with, apparently, the full endorsement of faculty. Veterans are well respected. My Riesling was excellent and those near me at the bar eating lauded their food selections. Rather than sports, the TV by the bar shows art and food programs (a quite refreshing alternative). Live music is chosen with care. I look forward to returning to this excellent establishment.

I love this place! It is a small family owned business, and they really get so much right. It is downstairs in a very cozy space. Sometimes they have music, but there is always good music playing if they don't have someone live. The food is fantastic. Varied dishes on the menu, but everything I have ever tried here has tasted great. The service is also wonderful. The bartenders know how to pair wine with food extremely well. I got the short rib poutine recently, and the bartender recommended a dry riesling. It was perfect. It cut the richness of the short ribs, and I never would have paired those two together. Overall, always a great experience and definitely worth a try.

Was back again after a couple of years. Still Such a wonderful place. Jeff and Mike @CIA are so knowledgeable! Food is always so good! A perfect place to try wines in a quiet setting.

We have visited this establishment on many occasions - each time it is a wonderful experience. Just last evening we booked in for a private dinner - just our small party of 4, Grant the sommelier and Ariel, the wonderful chef. They curated such a lovely evening for us - a craft apertif with tasty amuse bouche, and then a multi course meal with interesting and tasty wine pairings. Dinner included a wonderful simple salad with a French style orange dressing, homemade pasta and savory duck.......all with lovely music and fun conversation. It was a relaxing and fun event and we can't wait to do it again!

After dining at Shadows on the Hudson, we were elated because we had a beautiful dining experience and were ready for the next day. Came here for dinner on a Friday night and the place was lively and busy. I loved how there were different vibes throughout the restaurant. There was the main dining room that over looked the water, where we dined, a more chill lounge type area as well as a private room - all stunning in their own right. Our server was Nico and he was great - giving us his honest recommendations - from my mocktail to my friends choice of port wine. I had the ginger mule mocktail which was 10/10. To eat, I opened for the classic Caesar salad with crispy chicken which was soooo good and the portion was absolutely massive. A bunch of my friends got the filet in addition to the salmon. We all loved our meals and were the last ones in the place - as the place closed relatively early for a Friday, at 9. All in all, we had a beautiful experience - I only wished it was day time for a view of the bridge - but we were lucky enough to see it next day for the wedding next door. Thanks to Shadows on the Hudson for an amazing dinner!

Once we were seated at the bar (always our preference), I noticed that both the bar and dining areas are beautifully appointed. The bar's lounge area was very welcoming and the chairs looked like we could stay there for hours. We just might when we come back!! Our bartender greeted us with a smile and menus - from there, we ordered a Juice Bomb (IPA), and the Martini Rinaldi (vodka-gin martini). Let's just say I'm ruined for martinis forever and will ALWAYS want this martini. It's a perfect martini ... and I will fight anyone who tries to convince me otherwise. As far as food goes, we shared the Zucchini & Eggplant Chips. SO much food for just an appetizer (highly encourage sharing). Really flavorful chips, served with smooth tzatziki (nicely done!). Husband had the Bourbon Burger (lunch special). Properly cooked burger (med rare), juicy burger, good flavor, great ratio of burger to sauces/toppings, not overly messy but just right, and the fries were double-fried so they had that perfect crunch quality. I had the Crispy Chicken Sandwich (also a lunch special), and I have to say (again), the BEST chicken sandwich I've ever had. Beautifully crisped chicken, cabbage slaw, homemade pickles, chipotle mayo were perfectly flavored, seasoned, and balanced. It's like the perfect bite in an entire sandwich and doesn't leave your hands super messy. The sandwich is typically served with fries but I chose the house salad and it was a nice burst of freshness from a rich sandwich. That dressing is delish!! Overall... this was the kind of lunch that's WELL worth the 90 minute drive (because that's exactly what we did... haha). The Executive Chef (John Malone) is a talented individual and this place is a true Diamond on the Hudson. As a side note ... the real show-stopper is the views of the Hudson River. I couldn't get a proper picture - you'll just have to trust me. Can't wait to come back!!

After we walked in one of the waitresses informed us that we can sit wherever we want. I instantly felt like I was inconveniencing her with my presence by the way she said it. Didn't take it personal just yet. What appeared to be the hostess came over a few minutes after we sat down and handed us menus that were very dirty. I looked at my husband and said I am ready to walk out of this place bc I am starving and it looks like they are too short staffed right now which is understandably out of a businesses control sometimes. But wait, instead of the waitress coming to our table to bring water or ask us if we would like a drink, she went to another table with a man and a child that she obviously knew well, and started eating their french fries and talking. That's when we decided to leave and spend our money elsewhere. So unprofessional. That couldn't wait? I hate to leave a review like this, but if I was the owner of this business, I would not want someone like that working for me, representing what seems to be a great place.
