To eat, I opened for the classic Caesar salad with crispy chicken which was soooo good and the portion was absolutely massive. A bunch of my friends got the filet in addition to the salmon. As far as food goes, we shared the Zucchini & Eggplant Chips. SO much food for just an appetizer (highly encourage sharing). Really flavorful chips, served with smooth tzatziki (nicely done!). Husband had the Bourbon Burger (lunch special). Properly cooked burger (med rare), juicy burger, good flavor, great ratio of burger to sauces/toppings, not overly messy but just right, and the fries were double-fried so they had that perfect crunch quality. I had the Crispy Chicken Sandwich (also a lunch special), and I have to say (again), the BEST chicken sandwich I've ever had. Beautifully crisped chicken, cabbage slaw, homemade pickles, chipotle mayo were perfectly flavored, seasoned, and balanced. It's like the perfect bite in an entire sandwich and doesn't leave your hands super messy. The sandwich is typically served with fries but I chose the house salad and it was a nice burst of freshness from a rich sandwich. That dressing is delish!! Overall... this was the kind of lunch that's WELL worth the 90 minute drive (because that's exactly what we did... haha). The Executive Chef (John Malone) is a talented individual and this place is a true Diamond on the Hudson. As a side note ... the real show-stopper is the views of the Hudson River. Shortly after we were seated, I did notice one of the waitresses taking photos of our very large group (20+) on her own phone - not on the behalf of one of us - and I have to wonder if it was for the restaurant's social media, or something else. The servers were very attentive, being sure to ask the right questions as we ordered items. Food and drink all came out quickly. My chicken fajita platter came with steaming warm tortillas, more than I've typically gotten at other Mexican restaurants, and a separate plate with huge quantities of the fixin's, including a sizeable amount of guacamole. My friends and I were visiting the nearby Vanderbilt house and when I looked at CIA there was a 11:45 am opening left at Bocuse and I snagged it. CIA students alternate between doing the cooking and doing the serving at the CIA restaurants. Since we went in February, it was $30 each for a three course meal. It's $45 starting in mid April. We started off with freshly baked rolls and artisanal butter which was delicious and they asked us throughout the meal if we wanted more. For my first course I chose the garlic and butter drenched escargot which was deliciously marinated. Then I had the chicken in cream sauce with potato purée. Delicately delicious. And lastly my four layer chocolate in a glass had different chocolate and other flavors at each layer point. Overall a feast for the senses. Our student servers were charming and patient. They answered all our questions about their study. I look forward to trying additional CIA restaurants- they have Italian, New American and more. La Bocuse is a must try next time you're in the area.

We stumbled on the Inn at the Ridge through some Google searching. We only spent two nights, Friday and Saturday, so we were treated to Sal's weekend cooking. Easily among the best food at a B&B that we've ever had. When I booked, I didn't realize that I had booked the one room with a disconnected bathroom. Yes, it's private, but downstairs. Since the Inn wasn't completely full, they offered to relocate us to another open room, we didn't ask, they just suggested it. The house is old, like real old, so expect some quirks like wide creaky floors etc. The beds were quiet though, which was the important thing. Each room is uniquely decorated. The Inn is a nice distance from busy areas but not so far as to be a hardship. It's extremely close to Angry Orchard's Innovation cider mill, a state park with great trails, and even a little college town. I could probably go on, but Yelp's review editor is giving me issues. We'd definitely stay here again if we're in the area.

Our room was very comfortable with a king-sized bed. The location was perfect - close to Minnewaska state park, as well as several nearby towns and a few good restaurants. The breakfasts were the highlight of the experience! One of the hosts is a CIA-trained chef and he made fabulous food for us - chocolate-stuffed french toast, a great frittata, and more. They serve breakfast at a communal table, which is nice for getting to talk to the other guests there. We would definitely stay here again.
