I love going out to eat and have had many wonderful meals. So it means something when I say that Chleo is special. Everything we ate had an amazing and unique blend of flavors. And the wine was also tasty. Next time I'll try a cocktail! The service was great. We started with the sourdough (which came out hot from the oven), butter, and grilled winter pesto. The pesto was smoky and hearty. The butter also had a wonderful flavor. We also had lamb pasta with olives and anchovies, pork collar, and smoked carrots with feta and dill. Amazing flavors with those dishes as well. Then we finishes with the blood orange tartlet and sourdough sundae. The mix of flavors in the sourdough sundae was incredible. I would recommend the swordfish, which was fresh and tender, and the pork collar, which was well executed and came with rich creamed kale. The smell when you first walk in, is absolutely amazing. Then you're greeted by a friendly server and seated as quickly as their service can handle. The open kitchen concept is entrancing. The chefs were so meticulous and made such stunning food, if there was a YouTube live stream, I'd probably watch the entire service. Our party came specifically for dessert: baked Alaska and pear sorbet. Both were DELICIOUS and unlike anything else we had tasted. The date jam and brownie were the standouts within these desserts. Came here for a special occasion dinner and really enjoyed. Ambiance is lovely! Fairly crowded on the weekends but food came out fast and service was great. The seasonal rotating menu had a lot of things that interested us and lots of options for vegetarian/pescatarian. The absolute star of the show was the pasta dish but a lot of our other small plates were unique and flavorful! Prices are on the higher side but with the innovative dishes and quality ingredients I think pretty fair. My partner and I walked in around 8PM on a Friday and were seated in about 30 minutes- not bad and 100% worth it. We don't usually order bread/butter when we go out but after looking at the bread on the table next to us, we decided to go for it. Omg the butter was super creamy and smooth, we were both so glad we got it. We also LOVED the mussels which were huge and super fresh. We also tried the fried oyster mushrooms, sweet potato, and steak- all fantastic as well. Highly recommend and look forward to coming back, especially since the menu constantly rotates. read more

5-Stars all around. Chleo is located in Uptown Kingston and is likely your best option for quality food and drinks at an affordable price. We've been over five times since they opened, and we love the vibe. Chleo opens at 4pm and fills up quickly - I recommend getting there early and/or snagging some wine at the bar while you wait. Small plates are great for sharing so order at least four mains for two to three people. Although we're not huge fans of dessert, we've always been enticed to order and have not been disappointed. Cocktails are unique and tasty - I've had bottles of wine and beer here, and their cocktails are my favorite option for alcohol. Truly one of THE best dining experiences I have ever had!! My sister and her husband normally sneak away here when we come to visit and we watch my niece; but this time I tagged along. SO happy I did while Mom stayed with her granddaughter. This hidden gem rivals even the best NYC/Brooklyn restaurants I've eaten in! The ambiance, food, and service are stellar! Greeted immediately when we walked in with wine in hand within minutes during our short walk-in wait. After being seated at the chef bar right near the open fire kitchen, we continued to enjoy our libations as we selected from a fabulous selection of small plates. Each selection was better than the former, but all so delicious because the chef/owners check each dish before serving it to their guests. The staff was attentive and so pleasant to speak with even though they were booked to the hilt! From the drinks to the food to the dessert, everything was absolutely phenomenal! I mean the sundae even had charred cocoa krispies which was ridiculously so good! If you are in town, driving by, or a resident I HIGHLY suggest you try Chleo. I've been following Chleo's IG for a while but haven't had the time to stop in. That is, until today. There was a dessert posted on the feed this week and that was quite enough dilly dallying on my part- I had to make my first trip in. I was a solo diner this evening (literally for the first time ever probably- worth it) and the hostess was so awesome. She got me a spot really quickly despite the whole place being packed and Saturday night reservations. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and smells clean. No, like I mean really clean- not room scents or heavy food oils lingering in the air. It was lovely. I love the open kitchen space to be able to see these chefs at home in this great kitchen. It kind of makes them part of the dining experience and personally I really appreciated that! So, let us get to the main attraction: the dessert. I had my eye on the grilled apricots, lavender cream, flax almond streusel. I am giving this dish a 9/10. The balance I would have liked to have tasted was not there with the apricot, and I am an apricot lover. With that being said... if this was only the lavender cream and streusel with those tiny thyme garnishes... chat, this desert would be a 15/10. The lavender cream was beyond perfect... not too sweet and not overpowering on the lav flav. And in combo with that toasty streusel. Good lordt y'all, watch out! I wonder if somehow blackberries would suit this dish more than the brûléed apricot if there *needed* to be a fruit component. Either way, I would still eat it again and enjoy it! My partner works in fine dining and spotted Chleo while we were exploring the lovely town of Kingston. We stopped in for dinner before rushing to another nearby town. We were lucky enough to be sat right away at the chefs counter and had a truly wonderful experience. From the hostess to the chefs working the line, the staff was impeccably lovely and attentive. As a vegetarian, the menu was full of creative and thoughtful options that satisfied my hunger, each an explosion of flavor and intention. We asked if we could be out in forty-five minutes and the staff was so accommodating. All the dishes were hits, but the cauliflower was insane and I wish I could have it on repeat. I hope we can be back in New York to revisit Chleo and experience their flavor and hospitality again very soon! read more

My wife had a burrata plate, that was fine if you like burrata and the grilled panzanella salad, really very good- a special dish. Yep. This is what I want-ed. I have been twice now. Both times more than pleasantly surprised and happy. Inspired is the word of the day. Inspired is how I felt leaving both times and inspired is how I feel the food is created there. It is, in my opinion, currently the ONLY inspired kitchen in Kingston. I have enjoyed every thing I have had there, cocktails included and the only thing I could say that's close to negative was that the duck dish I got was just good. And I say that tongue in cheek because there was nothing left of it when we were done. I don't feel like I need to give any hints as to what to get, and their menu changes rather frequently, so get a few ppl together, try a bunch of things and be pleasantly surprised but not only how you feel when you are done but how the price seems to feel equally as good! Chleo has the best (high-end) food in the area, it's pretty much perfect! The chef has a way with flavors that are both balanced and bold and the open wood fire for cooking provides many dishes with a deep flavor that other techniques don't provide. Our 3rd visit last week ... we enjoyed every single perfect dish. One thing to note is that the portions are small. We are small eaters and often share 1 app and 1 entreé at most places - and here we each need our own app and entreé. I'd also go for the cocktails over wine since wine pours are tiny. Best restaurant in the area, hands down. Have been here multiple times and each visit has provided me with at least one new dish that's blown me away. The vegetarian options are fantastic, and the meat is some of the best I've ever had-specifically the chicken they had on their summer menu. They source everything locally, the service is excellent, and oh, yea, the wine selection is great too. But really, come here for the food--you won't be disappointed. My only criticism is that it's expensive. But it's well worth the money IMO. read more

Our dinner at Chleo may be the best meal I have enjoyed in years due to the amazing food, a delightful and helpful staff, inviting atmosphere and the curated wine list. The food was so fresh tasting, unique in flavors, beautifully presented and simply delicious. The spring green salad ingredients were farmer's market fresh, and the vinaigrette made with charred herbs was amazing. Our fire-charred broccolini was beautifully presented in a chris-crossed fashion, and came alive with the Calabrian chilis and almonds. And both starters were large enough for the two of us to share. For the main, I tried the braised lamb cavatelli which was hearty and flavorful comfort food that even my not-lamb-loving wife liked to the point I had to restrict her "sharing." She had the half chicken with unique vadouvan spices and grilled to perfection. Our server was delightful, and the atmosphere is warm and lively without being too cozy. We will be back! read more
