a glass of beer on a table

Kroeg: noun, pub, tavern, local gathering place. This spot definitely fits the bill. It's a great spot to hang out for a couple beers or to grab a beer before heading to dinner. Good selection on draft and even better collection of cans in the fridge.

Austin helped us figure out what we should get, which was so helpful! The ambience is so chill and relaxing. It's a great place to get a quick drink. They also have an awesome variety of beer and siders as well as water and sodas to choose from if you are drinking nonalcoholic. Right in the middle of everything else in Rhinebeck, highly recommend!

Equilibrium purchased from the fridge & enjoyed right in the bar! Canning was up to date!

Stumbled across this place in the courtyard & so glad I did. So many awesome beers on tap or to purchase & drink right there in the bar. You can mix & match 4 packs & they give you a 20% discount when you do! Great spot! I will definitely be back because of the great selection!

Small, homey hangout spot that seemed to have great local business on a rainy weekday during Covid. Nice assortment of craft beers available by can or by pack in a cooler. Smaller selection of draft beers but the recommendations were great by the friendly bartender. (I enjoyed the Doodlebug Pilsner on draft). To start a tab, you have to order a small food item. Not much selection (mostly finger foods like mozz sticks and tots) but I love a pretzel so I was happy to see that! Really appreciated the welcoming service and I was happy with what I ordered!

Do you like beer? I like beer. The Kroeg, which means "pub" in dutch, is a cool little beer bar in Rhinebeck, NY. They have a nice "Untapped" approved selection of drafts and a hefty selection of beer in cans. I loved my beer but my friend had something happen with his beer that was pretty unusual. He selected a beer in a can and poured it into a glass the bartender provided. He enjoyed it until he saw chunks in it. The amount of sediment was crazy. Blame the beer company? Maybe it was the shipping process or the storage? That isn't something I have ever experienced and certainly would not have enjoyed. Seating is a tad uncomfortable and the options are minimal. They won't be able to host a crowd. They have street parking only. They did have a menu with some simple offerings. Frito pie. MMMMMM. We weren't there for food but if you need something to absorb your beer it is there. These beer bars are popping up everywhere. The Kroeg is definitely a good one.

I really enjoyed my experience, they have a decent selection of good beer and a good variety. As far as the beer goes 5 stars all around. However, they have a sneaky corking fee. They charge two dollars per cans or bottle you drink out of the cooler while you are on the premises. I reached out for an explanation prior to this review but did not hear back. I understand the high cost for running a business in rhinebeck and in turn as a consumer I expect to pay more. However I would rather the cost be rolled into the price upfront instead of being suprised by a corking fee added to my tab.

Currently drinking the Central State Raspberry Sour and I couldn't be more pleased that a sour was on the top of the tap list.

"We don't have a cocktail menu, but we can make anything you'd like."…read more That was one of the first things our server told us, and honestly, it was refreshing. These days, it feels like every bar has a cocktail menu full of creatively named drinks that require reading a list of ingredients just to figure out what you're ordering. At Governor's Tavern, if you want a gin and tonic, you simply ask for a gin and tonic. The only decision you need to make is which gin you'd like. I'm not much of a cocktail person, but I appreciate that not every place feels the need to reinvent the wheel. The place was packed at lunchtime, but we got lucky and grabbed a pair of seats across from the bar. The server who I quoted was genuinely friendly and welcoming. I ordered a Guinness, but unfortunately the keg had just kicked. She recommended the Samuel Smith chocolate stout instead and even brought me a sample before I committed to taste since I never heard of it, which was a nice touch. For food, we ordered the State Grill burger and the Nashville Hot chicken sandwich. Both were excellent, and each came with Belgian-style hand-cut fries. If you're spending the day browsing the boutiques and antique shops along Warren Street and want a drink, a good meal, and a lively mix of locals and tourists, Governor's Tavern is worth a stop.

Shared an OG Chicken Sandwich $13. It was buttermilk fried chicken with tomato and lettuce on a roll. Sandwich was pretty tasty. Service was just average. Otherwise, I would've given it four stars. Only a few people appear to have ordered food here. Basically, the place appears to be a watering hole. Only app.metered parking in the area.
