The prices are incredibly reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. The lovely outdoor patio makes you think you're in a hidden garden. I had to go to the bathroom, which literally turned me off of eating anything that came out of our kitchen because there was a commercial fan in there, not running, but it looked like they had a couple months of dust and grime sitting on it right next to the toilet. And when you open the door, the kitchen is right to your left. How much of that does go into your food. I love the place when I went there a year ago and it was clean, but now I couldn't even stomach eating anything out of there and knowing what I saw. But the people are amazing there and the regulars, but still, I won't go back unless they clean up the place which has gone to hell and make it clean. read more

We came to this location because the owner is a CIA alumnus where we both went to school. I'm super excited to try the lobster roll and we were really impressed with the beer selection. I wish there were a few more wines, but I understand that's not their specialty. My husband got the Optimus prime sandwich. Delicious. Lobster roll: amazing. Worth $30. Come here on Thursdays to get their 50 cent wings! This should be the only thing you get along with their peach green tea or a sweet tea! I opted for their Apollo Creed, which was a fried chicken sandwich with spicy chiptole sauce, lettuce, tomato on a bun. The fried chicken was sadly too oily for me, and the breading separated from the chicken. It was a messy sandwich and had to resort to a knife and fork. The waitress was very nice and worked the outside tented area herself. The vibe was really relaxed, but at 12 noon on a Thursday during spring break, this place was popping! Inside was rammed with people, so next time I would like to try to experience eating inside. This was a bit challenging to try to find with Google maps, so keep that in mind and be patient. read more

Wings were solid and done extra crispy as I like. Though they were meatier wings so you couldn't get them so so crispy as I like with the places that sell smaller wings. After our weekly walk adventure a friend suggested we stop by for lunch at Tavern 23. She said it was a 'hole in the wall' but the food is excellent. Well, was she RIGHT! Two of us had the Kale salad and another person had the Reuben. We shared a Beech Brie appetizer. Steaks and burgers were done to the heat level ordered. We got some interesting beers on tap like New England Hazy IPA, Toasted Pumpkin cider, Key Lime Pie cider. A nice informal friendly place with awesome food. We were greeted right away when we came in. I wasn't expecting the creative food options at first when we looked at the menu. We ordered 3 appetizers for the two of us, and that was just the right amount. We had the Roasted Brussels sprouts with bacon, shiitake mushroom potstickers, and pieroges with the topping of the week (salami, olives and shaved parmesan). Everything was excellent but the Brussels sprouts were over the top amazing. The best roasted Brussels sprouts I've ever had. So flavorful. A sweet and savory glaze and lots of crumbled bacon. To drink I had a hard cider in a nice frosty glass- i got the blackberry flavor, sweet like I like it. I liked that they had a variety of ciders in addition to a nice selection of beers. So glad we stopped in here today! They have everything your fruity heart desires. The woman taking orders was super helpful and answered all my questions about the different juices and smoothies. I went with the green juice and my partner for a mango and strawberry smoothie with honey. The large size was absolutely humongous and very inexpensive. I would have gladly paid more for how much they gave us. There are plenty of tables if you want to sit with your drinks or wait for your food. And they were streaming movies from Apple plus on a large TV as well. It was an overall fantastic experience from the service to the other kind patrons in the place. My wife and I were looking for a 'dive bar' and saw a review for Tavern23 claiming to be one with good food. We were sold and made our way. Apparently, it was Bingo night and the place was lively. We were seated at a large high top with 2 other people on the other end. Community style, which I've become a fan of more and more. One of the bartenders was our server and she was busy. I must say the bartenders worked well together. As a long time bartender, I get it. Sometimes you just can't get from behind the bar. The beers were cold. Can't remember what I ordered, but clean glass and cold beer, so no issues. The food was typical pub style and quality. Liked the pretzels a lot. Nothing was too salty, which can be an issue with pubs. Overall, a typical successful drive ending with a field goal. Points on the board never disappoints. read more

My guy ordered the Monday Prime Rib special with Au jus complete with baked potato, butter & sour cream available, vegetable (grilled asparagus) plus side salad $30. I got the Maestro salad which is gluten free with crispy chicken that was Flavorful and not greasy. Salad was big with chopped egg, grape tomatoes, avacado, bacon bits and blue cheese crumbles which my dinner companion put on his salad since he ordered blue cheese dressing.
