What are the odds that when I was craving Dutch food for my birthday, we were staying in a cute town that had a restaurant called The Dutch! How serendipitous. My partner and I came here for dinner on a Sunday night when it was drizzling outside. my partner ended up ordering the chicken pot pie, and I had ordered a Dutch onion soup with jalapeño cornbread. The chicken pot pie was warm and filling, and my soup was absolutely delightful. It paired very well with the cornbread. And the corn bread paired well with the butter that came with it! We both ordered a beer and fully indulged and our delightful meal. This was a wonderful birthday meal that I got to share with my soulmate.

Came early on Saturday night and was able to get a table. Service was awesome. Debbie was friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu. We started with a hummus platter that was fresh and tasty. The kids chicken are similar to Chic'fila. Shrimp & grits were spectacular! Winter vegetable entree was as tasty as healthy & the burger was on point! So large only half could be eaten. We'll be back for sure!

The Dutch has been long time Saugerties institution. I used to visit in my high school years as a place to get a garlic burger or a pilgrim sandwich. Honestly, never knew they have been on Main Street since 1933. I've heard mixed reviews over the last few years but my visit was very different. House smoked wings were delicious but didn't really taste any smoke. Seeing beef on weck on any menu lights up my eyes. If you know you know. They had a decent lunch special menu at a good price and some solid French onion soup. Home made weck roll was buttery and pillowy soft. Roast beef wasn't super rare. Everything was great though. Would recommend to anyone looking for high end gastropub food made to a higher standard than your typical bar. The home made bbq and ranch was amazing also. Happy Holidays you filthy animals Above Photography https://www.instagram.com/b.overly_delicious/-- in Saugerties.

The Brussels Sprouts are so good! I am glad they updated the menu since my last visit. Strong drinks, and decent service. I like to stop in when I'm in town for a few cocktails.

Great spot for elevated pub food and great beer! We started out with the smoked wings, which were really good. For entrees, we ordered the Rueben and BBQ plate with pulled pork. The Rueben was delicious and you could tell the bread was either homemade or sourced by a local bakery. The BBQ plate was also really tasty and the Jalapeño cornbread with honey butter was fantastic. Our server was so attentive and friendly! She let us try a few beers before we settled on our final pick. Highly recommend!

Lion and I were in the Catskills for a weekend. We were looking for a nice casual place for dinner and The Dutch came up. Gastropub? Cool. Lion is a home brew beer guy and lover of spirits. We both love pubs. Off we go. The restaurant is in the village center, lots of cool older buildings. It's in double wide space that likely was a shop once, with the window displays set with tables. Bar in the center, game on. Family of 8 came and they could be accommodated. Nice. Our server was top notch. The menu...more of a bar menu than a Gastropub. Limited, that is. Burger. Appetizers. Chicken. Not a lot of variety or creativity. We both get the pub burger and it was good. Tasty. Good size. Lion got a cocktail and thought it was tasty. Everything though seemed to be at a higher price point. I get it - pandemic, tight supply lines, increase in food cost. So, okay. What I'd say is that if you're looking for a solid bar menu and good drinks, at a slight premium, this is your place. For us, probably not.

Enjoyable and nice atmosphere. Glad we stopped by the service was wonderful. Have a great time. You should stop by and check it out. What more could you want? This establishment is awesome.

We stumbled upon The Dutch one lazy Thursday afternoon after walking around town trying to decide where to eat. We are happy we settled upon this place. The hostess welcomed us with a genuine smile and gave us our choice of table. A previous favorable review proved accurate, because our server (Amanda) was knowledgeable regarding celiacs disease and easily pointed out entrees they could offer as GF. We had the pulled pork sandwich on a gluten free roll along with the chicken pot pie (not GF) - a bit pricey at $24.00 given the size, but it was definitely homemade. Our order came out quick and hot. Excellent service along with upscale bar ambience makes The Dutch a worthy choice during your next visit to town!

First off, I love this little town. It's quaint but feels current, and very walkable. We arrived around 430P and had no issues with parking right across the street. Walking in we were seated promptly though we immediately noticed that the interior was extremely dark. Not a big deal but worth flagging for older folks who might have a hard time reading. Our server was friendly and relatively attentive and walked us through the menu. We started off with some classics including their bread and butter (which was tasty and delicious) and ordered their P.E.I Mussels ($19) along with their Fried Brussels Sprouts ($15) to share. The portions were quite large for everything (great if you're in a larger party) but we immediately noticed that the mussels they served seemed a bit off. Many of them were not opened all the way (a sign that they might not be the freshest or recently passed) and had a bit of a fishy taste to them. We ended up not finishing them and flagged them to our waiter. The other items, including the 14oz Ribeye ($43) and baby back ribs ($28) were better, though a bit one-note. The bay back ribs in particular were extremely saucy and the corn bread was dry and a bit tough to eat. I had to use a knife to split it apart as it kept crumbling every time I used a fork. Regardless, it seems like a popular spot for a reason and perhaps we just went during more of an off-night. I'd still recommend checking it out but avoiding the mussels if you go.

There used to be numerous German restaurants in NYC and throughout upstate NY, but over the years those numbers have dwindled substantially to a handful.  A relatively new addition to the local Hudson Valley dining scene Jaeger Haus was started in 2018 (in a 70 year old restaurant building) and serves up seriously tasty and authentic tasting German beer, wine, and food.  We've dined there a few times over the last two years of visiting this year--the mood is relaxed, the beer is delicious, and food remind us of our travels to Germany and Austria.  The menu is tight and by that I mean it's focused on what they do well--which is traditional German food. While I wish they might add a few classic German appetizers to their menu for variety, their range of entrees provides ample choice and I am slowly making my way through those selections. Lola, one of our servers for the evening, quickly took our drink orders.  I ordered a mug of Hofbrau Original Lager (on tap) and after being given a tasting, my wife ordered a pint of Hofbrau Weissbier (which is similar to the sort of wheat beer she occasionally enjoys).  So refreshing.  A basket of house-made thinly sliced Roggenbrot (rye bread) arrived soon after our drinks with softened butter, lightly sprinkled with sea salt. We passed on the appetizers, knowing that our entrees would be substantial.  My wife ordered the Wienershcnitzel which comes with braised red cabbage and house-made spaetzle lightly sauced with a cream gravy.  These are classic sides which one can find served in restaurants from Vienna or Munich to Heidelberg or Berlin.  I ordered exactly the same thing (having tried other dishes on our prior visits), except I ordered my Wienerschnitzel "a la Holstein" (with a fried local farm egg).  The egg, especially the large yolk, provides an added level of lusciousness to the crispy veal.   Our meals arrived in due course.  They were gorgeous to look at and ate even better than they looked.  The spaetzles were soft and fluffy, the red cabbage was rich and well spiced, and the veal . . . the veal was heavenly.  Crisp on the outside, fork tender on the inside, dipping into a bit of the egg yolk (in my case); goodness what a delightful taste sensation. Just delicious.  We both earned "clean plate" certificates tonight--suitable for framing--felt satiated, but not overly full (which is where we like to end a meal).  We nursed our beers a bit longer, sharing memories from this special day, paid our bill (the bill encouraged customers to tip in cash, which we did), thanked the staff, bid the co-owner "danke schön und Wiedersehen" and we were on our way.
