The chicken was so crispy and well done and the chili sesame mayo was amazing. The Dutch is a very vibey spot for dinner, drinks, and watching sports or hanging out with friends! We came here for a date night and the food was delicious. Aside from the chicken sandwich, we also ordered the hot pretzels with beer cheese and the chicken pot pie. Everything was fantastic. They also have a great selection of drinks and the seasonal pumpkin ale was so good and you can never miss with the Hudson North cider. My partner and I came here for dinner on a Sunday night when it was drizzling outside. my partner ended up ordering the chicken pot pie, and I had ordered a Dutch onion soup with jalapeño cornbread. The chicken pot pie was warm and filling, and my soup was absolutely delightful. It paired very well with the cornbread. And the corn bread paired well with the butter that came with it! The Dutch has been long time Saugerties institution. I used to visit in my high school years as a place to get a garlic burger or a pilgrim sandwich. Honestly, never knew they have been on Main Street since 1933. I've heard mixed reviews over the last few years but my visit was very different. House smoked wings were delicious but didn't really taste any smoke. Seeing beef on weck on any menu lights up my eyes. If you know you know. They had a decent lunch special menu at a good price and some solid French onion soup. Home made weck roll was buttery and pillowy soft. Roast beef wasn't super rare. Everything was great though. Stopped for lunch while enjoying a day off. This is located on a busy Main Street and parking is sparse. I was greeted by friendly staff member who sat me. The place is nice and quiet restaurant considering it was 12:45pm on a Saturday. The menu isn't that big but offers a little of everything in my opinion. Ordered the Beef on Weck with fries. Let's start with the fries, crisp on the outside light and pillowly on the inside. However they had no seasoning at all, still good but they needed something. The sandwich was full of beef, the bun was as described the beef had no seasoning on it. Now the sandwich comes with pan drippings for dipping which didn't do much to help. Love the tavern's look and feel and the service was excellent. Had the shrimp and grits which tasted great and had sufficient shrimp, but the portion size on the grits was less than ample leaving me still hungry at meals end. Great spot for elevated pub food and great beer! We started out with the smoked wings, which were really good. For entrees, we ordered the Rueben and BBQ plate with pulled pork. Since we had 3 dogs, we couldn't eat inside so we decided to order some wings and fries. The online ordering portal was really easy to use. Pick up was right when they told us. We stumbled upon The Dutch one lazy Thursday afternoon after walking around town trying to decide where to eat. We are happy we settled upon this place. The hostess welcomed us with a genuine smile and gave us our choice of table. A previous favorable review proved accurate, because our server (Amanda) was knowledgeable regarding celiacs disease and easily pointed out entrees they could offer as GF. We had the pulled pork sandwich on a gluten free roll along with the chicken pot pie (not GF) - a bit pricey at $24.00 given the size, but it was definitely homemade. High end pub with a unique spin on typical dishes. Garlic parm wings were very tasty! I had the fish n chips with truffle fries. The fried haddock was flaky and light with a flavorful crunch. Stopped in to the Dutch for dinner. Upon entering I was snapped at by a host to put in a mask. I glance over at the bar which about 15 feet away and no one is wearing a mask. I put my mask on, walk the 15 feet to the bar and remove my mask feeling so much safer to reach the bar because we know, you can't catch COVID if there is a drink in front of you. Anyway, the bar wraps around through two rooms. The one bar tender is clearly over worked. She was very nice and not her fault it took a while to place an order and nearly an hour to get the food. I ordered the cheese burger that initially I thought was pricy at $17 but the burger comes out as a double patty. It has a generous amount of spicy aioli and very crisp fries. Worth every penny. Food has changed over the years. As a recent gluten free person, there's really not many great options in saugerties for the GF people. Although it doesn't really reflect the style of food, it would've been nice to have more gluten free options on this menu. As a whole I just wasn't impressed with the quality of the food. We got the caprese salad and it was just pretty mediocre. It tasted like everything was bought bulk at a department store and then put on a plate with some dressing. Did appreciate the effort of having gluten free buns, but I've come familiar with the brands and udi's, while probably the cheapest, is also the worst brand and falls apart when you use them. A highlight of our trip to Suagerties. There is nothing better than a French onion soup on a rainy fall day and this was a standout one! The fried pickles were the perfect fried and salty pairing for our beers off of their extensive list. My boyfriend and I loved each others entrees (the fried chicken sandwich and Reuben) so much that we ended up sharing them both. The ambience is great for a fun night out or a casual dinner. My childhood girlfriend, who lives in Newburgh, and I chose Saugerties as a midway meeting place between our respective homes. She had been to Dutch Ale House with her husband quite awhile ago, and he commented that the French Onion Soup was pretty good. Easy to find on Main Street, parking (metered so bring quarters; two hour maximum) right outside and only a stone's throw from 87 made this restaurant's location appealing. On a Tuesday at noon, the eatery had only two (possibly four) other patrons during our two-hour visit. The hostess seated my friend and I at a window table which was appreciated because the place is rather dark and the view of the town's architecture was lovely. We each ordered the French Onion Soup and then chose to split a Lamb Burger. The soup was as expected, not bad but nothing to write home about. Nicely presented with chopped scallions on top, my issue was the preponderance of broth (on the watery side) with very few onions. The burger was terribly disappointing. Both of us love lamb burgers - I make them at home, periodically - and this burger had no lamb flavor, was too spicy (unexpected as it was not mentioned on the menu) and had the consistency of cardboard. We took a bite and then did not eat it. The truffle fries, for which we paid an extra $3.50, were flavorful but kind of mushy. If they had been crisp, I would have taken home the fries and the delicious aioli dipping sauce that came with them. Lastly, the service was inadequate. You would think that with only a few people in house, the waitress would have been more proactive. She never asked my friend if she needed a refill of her soda (quite obvious as her glass was at the edge of the table), and handed us the bill before inquiring whether we desired coffee or dessert. We DID want coffee because each of us had about a 1-1/2 hour's drive to return home. Saugerties looked charming (it was my first time) and on a nicer day, I probably would have walked around the town a bit. We might meet there again but try a different restaurant. read more

I personally did not go to the previous iteration but I'm a low key fan of the bbq pork sandwich. It wasn't the best I've ever had but it was pretty good! We got: - BBQ pork sand-which - Crispy chicken sand-which - Jalapeño cornbread The only thing that was "ok" was the cornbread. But that may just be me as I had a skillet jalapeño cornbread last year in Texas and since I've been hunting for good cornbread at other restaurants, lol.
