This was once a Terrific place to eat with huge portions, well seasoned and just really delicious food. Now: has descended into a run of the mill burger place. Not well prepared, under seasoned burgers, poorly prepared--asked for medium rare--got medium/well. So disappointing. Service: Always wonderful but KITCHEN: Has really declined! What happened. Came here for dinner on a Saturday. Was able to get street parking a couple streets away. Came here and they have some sandwiches, soups, and salads on the menu. We were able to get a table easily and the service was nice. I ordered the Housemade Dutch Onion Soup. I thought it was good but nothing special. If you get one thing, let it be the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich with the side Caesar salad! Hands-down one of the best bar sandwiches I've had and the salad was such a great pair. The chicken was so crispy and well done and the chili sesame mayo was amazing. The Dutch is a very vibey spot for dinner, drinks, and watching sports or hanging out with friends! We came here for a date night and the food was delicious. Aside from the chicken sandwich, we also ordered the hot pretzels with beer cheese and the chicken pot pie. Everything was fantastic. They also have a great selection of drinks and the seasonal pumpkin ale was so good and you can never miss with the Hudson North cider. I was in the area for a business trip and stopped into this place twice while I was in Saugerties. The bartenders were friendly, the beer was cold and the food was great. But, here is some advice. If you decide to sit at the bar, do not sit on the left side where the bathrooms are. The ventilation duct above the bar sweats and will drip onto the bar, on your food and into your drinks if you aren't paying attention. You have been warned. What are the odds that when I was craving Dutch food for my birthday, we were staying in a cute town that had a restaurant called The Dutch! How serendipitous. My partner and I came here for dinner on a Sunday night when it was drizzling outside. my partner ended up ordering the chicken pot pie, and I had ordered a Dutch onion soup with jalapeño cornbread. The chicken pot pie was warm and filling, and my soup was absolutely delightful. It paired very well with the cornbread. And the corn bread paired well with the butter that came with it! We both ordered a beer and fully indulged and our delightful meal. This was a wonderful birthday meal that I got to share with my soulmate. read more

Came early on Saturday night and was able to get a table. Service was awesome. Debbie was friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu. We started with a hummus platter that was fresh and tasty. The Dutch has been long time Saugerties institution. I used to visit in my high school years as a place to get a garlic burger or a pilgrim sandwich. Honestly, never knew they have been on Main Street since 1933. I've heard mixed reviews over the last few years but my visit was very different. House smoked wings were delicious but didn't really taste any smoke. Seeing beef on weck on any menu lights up my eyes. If you know you know. They had a decent lunch special menu at a good price and some solid French onion soup. Home made weck roll was buttery and pillowy soft. Roast beef wasn't super rare. Everything was great though. Would recommend to anyone looking for high end gastropub food made to a higher standard than your typical bar. The home made bbq and ranch was amazing also. My family and I have been waiting for over 30 minutes, and the only thing we've received was water. We understand that restaurants can get busy, but this went far beyond a normal wait. What made it even more frustrating was that our waitress spent a lot of time standing around talking with other people while several tables, including ours, were still waiting for their order to be taken. It honestly seemed like she wasn't concerned about checking on her other customers or keeping us updated. Stopped for lunch while enjoying a day off. This is located on a busy Main Street and parking is sparse. I was greeted by friendly staff member who sat me. The place is nice and quiet restaurant considering it was 12:45pm on a Saturday. The menu isn't that big but offers a little of everything in my opinion. Ordered the Beef on Weck with fries. Let's start with the fries, crisp on the outside light and pillowly on the inside. However they had no seasoning at all, still good but they needed something. The sandwich was full of beef, the bun was as described the beef had no seasoning on it. Now the sandwich comes with pan drippings for dipping which didn't do much to help. Great spot for elevated pub food and great beer! We started out with the smoked wings, which were really good. For entrees, we ordered the Rueben and BBQ plate with pulled pork. The Rueben was delicious and you could tell the bread was either homemade or sourced by a local bakery. The BBQ plate was also really tasty and the Jalapeño cornbread with honey butter was fantastic. The Dutch is the best restaurant in Saugerties. Every one of their plates is great, though I love their standard Dutch Burger with a Sloop Peach Sour. Their fries are large and crispy without being starchy. We've had great service every time we've come, and the ambiance is modest and homey for a bar. Live music nights are great! I want the Bareback Trio to play our wedding. Can't wait to come for Monday wings night. read more

Good beer. Food not so much. Schnitzel was hard AF to cut through even though you could have read through the pork. Spetzel was edible. Roasted eggplant dish was over the worst cooked couscous. We both love pubs. Off we go. The restaurant is in the village center, lots of cool older buildings. It's in double wide space that likely was a shop once, with the window displays set with tables. Bar in the center, game on. Family of 8 came and they could be accommodated. Nice. Our server was top notch. The menu...more of a bar menu than a Gastropub. Limited, that is. Burger. Appetizers. Chicken. Not a lot of variety or creativity. We both get the pub burger and it was good. Tasty. Good size. Lion got a cocktail and thought it was tasty. Everything though seemed to be at a higher price point. I get it - pandemic, tight supply lines, increase in food cost. So, okay. What I'd say is that if you're looking for a solid bar menu and good drinks, at a slight premium, this is your place. For us, probably not. read more

Love the tavern's look and feel and the service was excellent. Had the shrimp and grits which tasted great and had sufficient shrimp, but the portion size on the grits was less than ample leaving me still hungry at meals end. We stumbled upon The Dutch one lazy Thursday afternoon after walking around town trying to decide where to eat. We are happy we settled upon this place. The hostess welcomed us with a genuine smile and gave us our choice of table. A previous favorable review proved accurate, because our server (Amanda) was knowledgeable regarding celiacs disease and easily pointed out entrees they could offer as GF. We had the pulled pork sandwich on a gluten free roll along with the chicken pot pie (not GF) - a bit pricey at $24.00 given the size, but it was definitely homemade. Stopped in to the Dutch for dinner. Upon entering I was snapped at by a host to put in a mask. I glance over at the bar which about 15 feet away and no one is wearing a mask. I put my mask on, walk the 15 feet to the bar and remove my mask feeling so much safer to reach the bar because we know, you can't catch COVID if there is a drink in front of you. Anyway, the bar wraps around through two rooms. The one bar tender is clearly over worked. She was very nice and not her fault it took a while to place an order and nearly an hour to get the food. I ordered the cheese burger that initially I thought was pricy at $17 but the burger comes out as a double patty. It has a generous amount of spicy aioli and very crisp fries. Worth every penny.
