Worst dining experience! My husband, my son, and I came to Tap House Grille for dinner while staying at our vacation home nearby, and it was one of the worst restaurant experiences we've ever had. We arrived around 7:45 p.m., ordered drinks, and then waited an entire hour before receiving our appetizer--after the restaurant had mostly emptied out. The "nachos" were nothing more than broken tortilla chips topped with vegetarian chili and a few jalapeños. There was virtually no cheese, and I had to ask for sour cream. To make matters worse, they were served with paper plates. During that entire hour, our waitress never once checked on us. She never apologized for the wait, never refilled our drinks, and never asked if we needed anything. We honestly thought our order had been forgotten. The atmosphere wasn't much better. We heard other tables complaining, glasses crashing to the floor, and the entire evening felt like we were on a prank show. By 9:15 p.m.--an hour and a half after arriving--we still hadn't received our entrees, which were simply a grilled chicken salad, chicken fingers with fries, and a kielbasa dinner. I can't comment on the food because we never got it. At 9:20 p.m., I politely got up and asked our waitress how much longer it would be. Without even looking up, she snapped, "She's working on it." No apology. No explanation. Just attitude. At that point, we'd had enough. I asked for the check for our drinks and appetizer so we could leave. She stormed away. When she returned, she dropped the check on our table--which still hadn't been cleared from the appetizer--and walked away. When I asked her what her name was, she ignored me completely. I then asked the blonde bartender for the waitress's name. She first told me it was Paula, then quickly corrected herself and said, "Oh wait, it's actually Jess," once she realized why I was asking, so I'm still not sure which is correct. The waitress appeared to be a heavy-set woman in her late 30s or early 40s with brown hair pulled back in a ponytail, which should help management identify who waited on our table. Before we left, we overheard the bartender telling two guests that there was only one server and one bartender working, another employee had been called in too late to make a difference, and the cook on duty wasn't the strongest, which was why the kitchen was so slow. While I understand that staffing shortages happen, none of this was ever communicated to us. A simple explanation and apology would have gone a long way. I paid the bill and left. We have a vacation home just 15 minutes away and dine in the area often. Unfortunately, after this experience, we will never return. Between the excessive wait, poor communication, rude service, and disappointing food, this was easily one of the worst restaurant experiences we've had. read more

Stopped intoTap House Grille after a day of hiking the Catskills. Spacious Bar setting with dinning seems to be a locals hangout.. I went with their signature Tap House Premium Burger ($17) with fries. The burger came out as I ordered Med-Rare, but was Charred and greasy. (My wife ordered the same and was also cooked the same). A signature dish should have me wanting to come back... Overall, I wouldn't order this again. The fries though !!! Were stellar ! Just how I like them, crispy outside and tender inside .... every bite was a crunch ! I complimented this dinner with a 9 Pin Cider Draft ($6) which was crisp and refreshing. Very nice restaurant in Windham. Had dinner here on Tuesday early night so there was no wait and the staffs were very friend. We dined inside and the tables were spread out. Order sausage and pierogi , tater totes, cauliflower Buffalo and burger. Pierogi was good but blend which I guess is good balance for the sausage which was salty but good as well. Excellent waitress Morgen kept coming back Constantly to see if there was anything we needed the whole time we were there. Their cauliflower appetizer was really good. I had the fish and chips also very good. The only thing is when you ask for a mix drink it comes in a baby cup. No literally he comes in this tiny Glass . Had the Tap House Burger which was nothing special and doesn't live up to a "signature" burger. I had a medium rare burger but the char on it overpowered the burger. With an air of entitlement, I was asked to tip. Having no idea what the bill would be for this pick up order, I elected to wait till I arrived, whereupon I was condescended to by the host for not having already paid the service tip for a pick up order. I assumed this was just someone having a bad day, but this appears to be the atmosphere this restaurant has chosen. Here's why: walked in to the restaurant, which was practically empty, and greeted with a huffy, "what's up" as if it was unknown what reason we could possibly be there. Then, despite the nearly empty restaurant, the host struggled to find a suitable table, attempting to crowd five of us to a four-top. What a beautiful renovation!! Seriously, it went from Cave to open, clean and modern. We went on a Wednesday night, which turns out to be Burger and Brew night! Mug of beer and a burger for $12 - so obviously we took advantage! Husband got the Tap House Burger (pimento cheese and bacon) with tots. Generic tots, but the waitress said the fries weren't special. The pimento cheese was fine, but I appreciate that the burgers were hand-formed and not frozen patties. I got a Polish combo (kielbasa, pierogi, and bigos). The kielbasa was split and cooked well, the pierogi was delicious, and the bigos was more cabbage-based than I'm used to, but still yummy. My husband got maple-something wings, they smelled good and he said they were good, meaty, and home split, but not crispy enough for me to want one. Minus a star for my dark and stormy - while it was in a pint glass and only $8ish, it was rough. I didn't really enjoy it, but finished it because I'm no quitter. This is just a standard small town beer bar. They have some good draft beers including a few from local breweries. The food was mediocre at best though. The soup came out cold, the chicken wings were heavily fried and greasy with not much meat on the bones. I ordered a soft shell crab sandwich and it didn't have much flavor and was also a pretty small crab - I was mostly just eating bread, lettuce and tomato after my second or third bite. The best thing we had were the tator tots honestly. Nothing we ordered was terrible or bad, but nothing stood out or was above average. The place is clean though and pretty nice inside. The service was also fine so I can't give any lower than three stars. If they improved the quality of the food this would be a great local spot. read more

Tap House has a nice selection of specialty beers and decent little menu with small plates as well as more substantial meals. I got UBU ale from Lake Placid which was delicious. After a day of skiing at Windham, I met several people who said, "Go to Tap House tonight, it's the place to be." I'm glad I took them up on the recommendation, because it was a great scene! Tap House was crowded, but we still found seats at the bar. The bartender helped us navigate the wide variety of beers available. Our fellow patrons were very friendly, easily striking up conversations throughout the evening. There was also live music, which certainly added to the fun atmosphere. We ended the night playing a game of shuffleboard, and even though some kind folks tried pointing out that we weren't scoring correctly, we had an absolute blast and a lot of laughs. We have tried Taphouse a few times, tonight I was sad to find out that what the sign outside stated they had, (and the only reason for going) they did not have. I get it, you run out of things... but you can easily change the sign. Sushi, lava cake and cheesecake were promoted on their cheerful sign outside, but when I went to order, they had none of that. Very disappointed. Service was great, beers were good... food was fine. Burger was good that my son got, but the bun was double the size of the meat, (thought it was just a fluke last time, guess not. Either shrink the bun or make a bigger burger... we order MR, so no real reason it was small). We will still support, especially during these times... but these are simple fixes that can make a huge difference. read more

We were lucky to have stayed in an apartment just above this lovely place. It's surprisingly eclectic, with occasional live music and a menu that includes a whole selection of delicious, affordable sushi dishes, recommended to us and well worth a second dinner visit. Everything about it feels local even though there seems to be regular visitor traffic. Many of the local beers are amazing, the fruity sours being a special find for me. And not least, our bartender, Bethany, was the perfect host, even recalling what beers we ordered the previous time we visited. I'm definitely hoping to return. read more

I am so sorry if anybody has to eat in this place, there was eight of us six adults two kids, kids wanted pasta and butter sauce. Looks like the cook just puts whatever crap he wants on a plate. The kids pasta was so hard it looked like it had been sitting in the pot for over a day. Disgusting, they don't advise you there. Nachos has vegan chili on it which means no meat. Nothing but crap beans they don't put that on the menu. They are vegan chili tasted like crap. My hamburger sucked. Please stay away. Don't waste your money. The seats are extremely uncomfortable especially if you're a little bit older and have a bad back or a white ass but other than that I have no issues. It's Pierogies are excellent burgers etc. they have other things on the menu that are not exactly pub food but they also do have pub food. So good!!! Stopped in on our way to our Air B&B and had the BEST wings, and the Taphouse burger can't be beat. The beer selection is awesome, I had the Blueberry Blonde and my husband had Fiddlehead IPA and the Katterskill IPA. Love the cold pint glasses. Everything was so well done -- hot & freshly cooked, the side salad even had special touches. And to top it off, we sat at the bar and had a great time with the friendliest, funny bartender. I've visited here with my boyfriend a few times, and the food is delicious. The servers are absolutely delightful, the only problem I ever had was coming on a busy night at the bar. I understand that expecting a lot from a bartender on a jam packed night isn't realistic, but with three people behind the counter and asking multiple times for a drink and being forgotten about was not ideal. I let someone know about this problem, and they accommodated me right away and made my drink while being super awesome and polite. Overall, It's got a great atmosphere and is a great bar spot if you're new to the area looking for something a little bit more exciting than a diner or a bar with pub food.
