The burgers are pressed, so think smash burger or shake shack in sizing--also they're nit cooked to temp. But they are delicious!! Super juicy and flavorful. We also got pierogies and strawberry champagne wings (a special) as apps. If they have the strawberry champagne wings when you go, definitely get them! Service is slow here. They also charge $0.75 for "No Tomato" on a salad (so it's a fee for their chef to not place tomato on a salad). And also charge $1.00 for ice in your drink. Food was good. Probably the best place to watch sports in town (no sound though). It's also nice that they have mostly local NY beers on draft. We sat at the bar to eat and the male bartender was not very friendly or talkative, kinda a dud personality wise and unfamiliar with the area. Worst wings I ever had in my life! Overcooked, teetering on burnt/charred, swimming in a pool of oil. Their "dozen" consisted of 11, and three pieces were unidentifiable small fried masses. Came here to try out this relatively new place. Everything was really good and it's great to see another solid restaurant in town. I had my doubts initially just because it was a bar. :-) we sat at a table in the back and it was perfect. I had a salad with grilled chicken and my bow had the steak and tater tots. I came in to watch some March Madness on a Saturday night around 7:30. This place is loud, the service slow and the food is mediocre at best. The TVs are mounted too low so iff you are at the bar your view is obstructed by the tap handles. I had a quesadilla and poutine tots, the cheese is way too salty and the gravy on the poutine is watered down stuff from a jar. The bar staff is so oblivious that the two guys next to me paid their bill, then ordered another round of beers then proceeded to walk right out the door beers in hand. Overall...disappointing. Update: Went back cause that was where a group of friends meeting and unfortunately my experience was the same. Could be a good place to go if they improve quality of food. What a great place! Visited for dinner after a day on the slopes. I really enjoyed the Brisket, and tried the polish sausage which was also quite good. I'm glad I read the yelp reviews while we were waiting and went over to the bookshelf to enter the Speakeasy. After we had finished with dinner, we enjoyed drinks there. Amanda is indeed a phenomenal bartender and the Smoked Old Fashioned was OUTSTANDING. Would definitely visit this place again! read more

Wanted to like this place, it's the sister site to the Local, but we got dinner to go and there were too many problems. My daughter got a salad entree and my wife got a side salad, neither got dressing. It wasn't like we ordered it on the side or asked something special, it just got missed. No ketchup for fries, burgers. The food itself was otherwise fine but nothing to write home about. Horrible version of Japanese sushi, yellowtail sushi roll was too fishy and Japanese tempura shrimp made from rice crispy was poor, pork buns was being passed as Japanese, eventhough this is a Chinese dish, lack balance in taste should have had some hoison sauce and pickles fermented to balance out pork flavor. Also chicken sandwich was dry and too thin,lacked flavor, fish and chips was too fishy, I don't remember cod having this strong taste as fishy, fish should have a clean taste. Burger was bland. Serving out of plastic cups and plastic forks is extremely poor. I don't know if this place changed ownership but prior to 6 years ago the food was tasty and there was no Japanese food offered. Just the worst dining experience I've had in years. Besides the fact that it took an hour and a half for our food to come, they only filled our water once (after letting us know they'd run out of cups), my burger was undercooked and tasteless, I heard a fellow diner complain about being served raw chicken to which the server responded, "I'm so sorry--can I give you some wasabi to kill the bacteria?". She went on to offer them 25% off the check and then came back 5 minutes later to inform them that she could not take 25% off the check but would buy them a round of drinks instead. Went here with my husband a few weeks ago and have been back a few times since. The food and service are GREAT! I noticed another reviewer mention that the burgers are like McDonalds. Came to ski for a few days and I was extremely intrigued by the "speakeasy" description outside the restaurant. Walking in I was surprised how bright the atmosphere was! At first glance this was just a sports bar. But behind our table was a "bookshelf" and tapping one of the books the shelf was a hidden door and opened to a funky speakeasy that was way different from the restaurant where we were seated!! Definitely a cool vibe. As for the food...had a buffalo calamari app that was amazing and some sort of teriyaki wings both were flavorful and cooked well. For dinner we all indulged in burgers, grilled cheeses and club sammies that were a generous size and delicious. They had a great local craft beer selection. Waiter was nice and attentive. Worst experience ever. After serving disgusting mac & cheese which the kids hated the server took 15 minutes to bring them chicken tenders. Do not even think of asking for extra sauces they charge without even telling you. The waitress could care less about serving her customers. My girlfriend ordered a glass of wine and not only did it not come it also didn't show up on the bill which was appropriate. I would not recommend this place to anybody it is disgusting slow paced with a piss poor attitude. I can't recommend Tap House Grill enough. It appears to be trying to be almost everything, and it's doing it fairly well. The multiple TVs on the walls cater to sports-bar enthusiasts, but they also don't disrupt the atmosphere for those seeking a quiet place to talk with friends. They have an excellent beer menu sure to please any beer snob (like me) in the area, drawing from both excellent local breweries and farther away, and they have several excellent cocktails as well. The food is creative and delicious, with my only complaint being an iceberg lettuce base for any salad (I hear many people like that though, haha). The service is prompt, friendly, and accommodating. I was helped by Becka and Justin, who cheerfully catered to my menu modifications and requests for off-menu cocktails. The resulting boulevardier was the best I've ever had, and for a reasonable price. In summary, Tap House Grill is likely to please everyone, regardless of what you're looking for. The combination of great beer, food, and atmosphere makes it better than anything I've found in the NYC area thus far. read more
