I had been to the Rooster many times for beers with friends. Always friendly bartenders, cold beer and cool atmosphere. This past weekend was my first visit here strictly for dinner (of course I had a few adult cocktails as well). With our 8 year old son in tow, we stopped in on a Thursday night around 6pm. There is a family friendly dining area as you come in the door and we were greeted and seated right away. Waitress grabbed our drink order as our son was given crayons and a kids menu. A few other families were there with their kids and numerous crayon drawings adorning the walls reassured us that this was a family restaurant. Nice menu with good variety of pub grub. It was wing night so "When in Rome". There was an all you can eat offering but neither of us had that kind of appetite so we opted for an order of boneless wings each. I got the Nashville hot and she got the Hot Buffalo. The portions were large and the sauces were great. The Nashville is a bit on the tamer side of hot and the hot buffalo was both hot and tasty. Definitely get the wings. We also got an order of the Rooster Balls. For the record, these are not actually the balls of a rooster. Chunks of white chicken wrapped in bacon and cheese and fried served with a remoulade side sauce. I'm drooling as I type that. Our son got the adult version of the chicken tenders with fries on the side. He seemed to enjoy the tenders but the fries were the star of the night. We basically cleaned his plate for him as they were cut and cooked perfectly. To summarize, great for drinks and great for a family night out. Friendly staff, reasonable prices and delicious grub. Plenty of parking, not far off the highway. And as my son would say "free wifi!". We will be back often. read more

First time here, very disappointed. Ordered onion rings separately and I thought they would crack my teeth, they were that hard. Burger was okay, nothing special. Came to the area for a family trip and stopped by here with my dad. We ordered some buffalo garlic wings, a chicken tender wrap with bacon, cheese, and a sweet sauce and cheese fries. The wings were crispy, flavorful, garlicky, and paired well with the blue cheese. The wrap was excellent. It had a very unique flavor that i haven't had in a chicken wrap. Kind of like a sweet honey vinegrette while not being overly sweet. The cheese fries were honestly so good. Extremely crispy fries, the cheese was a bechamel i believe made in house and topped with jalapenos and bacon. I also want to say that after having all this heavy food i still felt light. Not big into gluten free stuff, but the waitress did say it is and i found it actually makes a difference in how heavy i feel after the meal. Cheers! read more

After arriving at an odd Airbnb in a secluded area, we really needed a spot to eat and chill. This was the perfect spot. It has a classic small town feel with friendly people, solid prices and tasty bar food. I had probably the most interesting wrap to date. It had chicken, tots, bacon, jalapeños, and a bunch of other stuff. I don't think it was called the kitchen sink wrap but it might have well been, it hit the spot that night for sure. Still in time of Covid, still haven't been INSIDE, but we have ordered from Rooster a few more times, so worthy of an update. Everything we've had has been really good - the boneless wings seem more like popcorn chicken, but they look hand-cut, and they had tons of sauce options. We got the Rooster burger that has rooster sauce and fried pickles - the pickles are very dill pickle-y! The fries were not at all soggy this time, if anything they were a little overdone this time. I love French fries in any form, so crunchy and slightly overdone were fiiiiine by me. We also have had the rooster bowl, which is the KFC bowl - oh my goooossshhhh it was good. Food and service were amazing! Loved the vibe. Went here just this past Friday to meet with a friend. The pretzel starter is to die for, so good, and so we're the boneless wings as usual. We got the stinging honey garlic flavor. She ordered a burger and I ordered the salmon and rice with sriracha. The raving, 5-star reviews here are mainly from locals who have an extremely limited choice of bars to go to in this one-horse town (theres only 1 other bar in the entire town), so naturally, this place will seem like an oasis to a townful of hungry drunks. Unforgettable hamburger and memorable hospitality. My husband and I happened upon this place by coming down a lesser-traveled back road. Hungry for lunch, we were hesitant to stop at first because we didn't see any cars or patrons ... until we drove around the corner of the building. It was a gorgeous NY-summer day and a group of people were sitting on the deck at the picnic tables. We drove onto the unpaved parking lot and parked at the side of the building. Upon walking up the stairs to the deck, we eyed a two-seater picnic table that we wanted to sit at. Different and perfect for us that day. We went inside and were surprised to see the place empty. It's a big space with an area for a band, an area for games (darts, pool, etc.), a jukebox, and seating all along the front, back and sides. It was very clean and I liked the natural light that came in from all the windows. I think the owner was sitting at the bar doing something with receipts and his wife was the one that greeted us. She was friendly, personable and seemed genuinely grateful to have us there, especially when she learned it was our first visit. We placed our orders for iced teas and burgers right there at the bar. She brought the drinks out and placed them on the counter then walked away to get something. We took the drinks and walked out to the deck to sit at "our" table. She came right out and said that she would have brought those out for us. We didn't mind. It was the kind of place you felt right at home at. We were disappointed that they hadn't made any of their famous Rooster Balls that day, but it will give us another reason to come back again. The other reason will be those burgers. Perfectly cooked, juicy, uneven patties with the right amount of flavor. It dripped right over my thick fries with every bite I took. The buns were toasty and fresh and so was the crisp pickle that was served on the side. It really was a great burger. The kind you crave and not just "feel like" having. I'm not a fan of mayo-based coleslaw, so I left the small cup of it that was served on the plate untouched. My husband loved his burger too. My absolute favorite part about the entire experience is that when we went inside to pay, after receiving our change and receipt, the owner (who was still sitting at the bar), raised his hand up to us and thanked us for coming in. Went one day to pick up a Take-Out Menu so I would have it at home (and I would know right away what I wanted). It was a Saturday late morning or Sunday late morning and the place was looking real nice getting ready to have a Baby Shower for someone. So, it's nice that they cater for all types of events. Went there a couple of weeks later and had a cheeseburger with French fries. Man, the burger was big and the fries delicious. My only slight concern was that the burger was not cooked as much as I wanted. I asked for medium well done and there was still SOME pink in the middle (not much). Next time, I will ask for well done. But overall, the burger was delicious. Can't wait to try it again. read more

We've been weekending in the Catskills for three years now and have driven by this place numerous times. I've always been a bit nervous to stop here due to the Roadhouse name. I just wasn't sure. Today, husband was busy and my 86 year old mom was with me. Now she's not the typical 86 year old but not hugely relevant. We can here today for lunch, it was rainy. Lots of motorcycles out front but nice people. We cane inside. Ur was very clean and spacious. We sat at the bar. We ordered loaded fries which were hand cut with a homemade cheese sauce with bacon and jalapeños.. I ordered a rooster burger with cheddar, special sauce and fried pickles and sweet potato fries served with cinnamon butter. Mom has a quesadilla. I had a view of the kitchen, it looked spotless. Lunch did take a little while but I was sipping a beer. For reference, I am a forty something female professional who enjoys fine dining and casual pubs where I am comfortable. Went to the Red Rooster on A Saturday night with a party of 7. When we entered the bar there were only a handful of people there. We all sat down at the bar to order drinks and have a good time. The bartender was more interested in playing on her phone than serving the patrons. At 11:30 the bartender called last call for alcohol. When asked why she called last call she responded with that is were her choice and weren't buying any alcohol singling the designated driver as an example. The place is a joke wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

Loved the special of the night: Rooster Balls. OMG who thought of them. Bacon wrapped chicken with other ingredients... if you are going to deep fry it, it might as well be something amazing like this. The steamed clams were also really really good. Every one was cooked perfectly. Totally great. Other things I am now craving... Hot open meatloaf, Pulled pork quesadilla, and a really good BLT. Bartender/server was sweet and polite. She was by far the only pleasant part of our experience. Not family friendly! Rowdy bar crowd, using lots of fowl language and yelling at 3pm. Was served quite possibly the worst steak of my life. Uneatable, although I did not complain... It was quite apparent I didn't eat more then my first bite. I wasn't offered anything else, or any type of discount, for that matter we were never ever asked how the food was. Do yourself the favor, drive the few extra miles for a decent experience. I went in the other day with my mom for a quick bite. She got the chefs salad, I got the chicken quesadilla. Her salad was fine, but the quesadilla was awful. It was warmed through, but the chicken had the weirdest texture- almost like biting into an undercooked carrot. I finished the first piece and was ready to leave when our waitress, Gloria, came by and took it away. She offered to take it off the bill and asked me what else I'd like. I decided to give it a second try and got the chicken wings with garlic and Parmesan to go. I tentatively tried them a bit later and they were absolutely delicious. I will definitely return and try a burger (my family members have had them and said they were delicious) and some more wings. read more
