I had been to the Rooster many times for beers with friends. Always friendly bartenders, cold beer…read moreand cool atmosphere. This past weekend was my first visit here strictly for dinner (of course I had a few adult cocktails as well). With our 8 year old son in tow, we stopped in on a Thursday night around 6pm. There is a family friendly dining area as you come in the door and we were greeted and seated right away. Waitress grabbed our drink order as our son was given crayons and a kids menu. A few other families were there with their kids and numerous crayon drawings adorning the walls reassured us that this was a family restaurant. Nice menu with good variety of pub grub. It was wing night so "When in Rome". There was an all you can eat offering but neither of us had that kind of appetite so we opted for an order of boneless wings each. I got the Nashville hot and she got the Hot Buffalo. The portions were large and the sauces were great. The Nashville is a bit on the tamer side of hot and the hot buffalo was both hot and tasty. Definitely get the wings. We also got an order of the Rooster Balls. For the record, these are not actually the balls of a rooster. Chunks of white chicken wrapped in bacon and cheese and fried served with a remoulade side sauce. I'm drooling as I type that. Our son got the adult version of the chicken tenders with fries on the side. He seemed to enjoy the tenders but the fries were the star of the night. We basically cleaned his plate for him as they were cut and cooked perfectly. To summarize, great for drinks and great for a family night out. Friendly staff, reasonable prices and delicious grub. Plenty of parking, not far off the highway. And as my son would say "free wifi!". We will be back often.

Wasn't crazy about the specials either. Pictures enclosed were the day I dined, very quiet. Unfortunately, will not return. Another crossed off my list.

Another good German dining experience, perfectly seasonal, during Oktoberfest! The crowdedness of…read morethis seasonal celebration made the service lack its usual efficiency- missing a few things, not receiving items requested, long delay for requests, appetizers before drinks, etc. but it did not take away from a very good meal nonetheless. The staff remains super sweet despite the little issues. Fun environment and great (but loud!) music too! Looking forward to our return off seasonal celebrations!

If you're looking for a bit of Germany in the Catskills, this is your place to go. The restaurant's…read moredecor pulls you straight out of the states and instantly in the Deutchland countryside. The waitresses are very kind and dressed in traditional German dresses and the live music is a great touch. To start, I ordered a Long Island Iced Tea that had a bit too much punch to it. The alcohol ratio was quite off and was very hard to drink. I asked for a soda to try and dumb it down, but was only able to get about half way through it. Though this was my fault for not ordering a beer at a German restaurant, I still would have liked the drink to be a bit tastier and is unfortunately the only thing keeping this review from being a shinning 5-stars. For my meal I ordered the sauerbraten which did NOT disappoint! The beef was very tender and the vinegar mixed with the gravy was the perfect level of sour and hearty. The red hot red cabbage was hot and flavorful and the potato pancakes were perfectly cooked. The side of applesauce put on top of the potato pancakes added the right amount of sweetness. A friend got the special rouladen which I got a taste of and was very delicious. The pickles inside were flavorful and the meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The menu is a bit pricey, but the portions are deceptively filling. I definitely expected to be hungry after but I finished my plate absolutely stuffed! Overall, this was a great experience and would recommend anyone looking for a taste of Germany to give this a try.

Visiting the Catskills early summer and decided to stop here for lunch. WOW... WHAT A SHIT SHOW!…read moreThe lobby entrance smells like an Abercrombie & Fitch store had a baby with an AXE spray commercial which was pretty nauseating. I was staying nearby and decided to check this place out because we needed to find food for a bunch of hungry kids at 1:40pm. We came as a group of 8 and saw there were available seats so we decided to eat here. Waited by the server stand and didn't get seated for 10 minutes even though there was a big table open. Whatever. Finally got seated and it took the waitress 15 min to come over and take our order. We never saw her again until an hour+ later when our food finally came out. She never even bothered to bring water to our table?! FYI: we ended up eating past 3pm. Ok, maybe they're understaffed and they're super busy? There were a total of 6 tables seated with people and 2 waitresses. Maybe that's a lot in upstate NY standard? The food was good, I'll give the cook that. But maybe the kitchen needs help so it doesn't take over an hour to bring out some eggs or avocado toast? Honestly, the food was a solid 4 star but the horrendous service was a negative so rounding this to a 2 star.

Service and environment are excellent. Highly recommend this restaurant to anybody stopping by Glen Falls House or in the Round Top area!
