I've had the pleasure and privilege of dining at some of the most reputable establishments in NYC and LA, and this ranks in the top tier. The flavors were intricate yet subtle, and I loved that it was vegetable forward. My "Not a Negroni" was the best Negroni I've had, hands down. I wasn't sure how the Rum and Pineapple Amaro would work together, but they were exquisite compliments. The homemade sourdough and butter came out hot and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. It was hard to resist ordering more. A simple salad of lettuces, cucumber, cheese and light dressing blew my mind -- perfect for summer. I got the dauphine potatoes, which were like potato croquettes, and the addition of prosciutto made them a hearty and filling dish. The only miss for me were the desserts -- the flavor of the lemon tart was excellent but there was a jello-like encasing that seemed out of place and unnecessary. The mousse also had these strange jello-like pieces in the cream, which didn't really work for me. Next time, I would get the sundae. Our server, Amanda, was friendly and attentive without being overly watchful, and when she got busy, the host came over and helped us order drinks. This place is a gem, and I look forward to returning.

Ambiance and aesthetic is candlelit romantic. Food was so delicious. It is a small menu and I believe it might change depending on the season. For appetizers we ordered ends meat city ham & herb mustard and dauphhine potatoes. Those potatoes are a must order for sure ! But let's talk about the amish golden chicken, wow it was incredible so please order this dish if on the menu! It was cooked and it sauces to its perfection. The lentils with gouda were also delicious. Cocktails are a little strong and my favorite was the Tijuana turtleneck . For dessert we ordered the Matilda sundae and chocolate mousse- they were delightful.

The server, Stephanie, was very friendly and let us sit where we liked! I usually don't write reviews but I was blown away by my meal. I got a mocktail with ginger beer and blackberry and lime, and it was amazing with a generous portion (a whole 16 oz glass). I also ordered the dry rub wings (absolutely amazing - crispy, perfectly spicy, amazing house rub) and the grilled cheese and tomato soup (legitimately THE BEST GRILLED CHEESE I'VE EVER HAD). I wish I lived closer so I could come here all the time. On top of it all, the service was great, and our food came out super fast! Really loved this place.

Just make sure to connect to the Wi-Fi when you arrive because there is absolutely no cell service! The bread and butter were divine! The butter could have been a little warmer, but the bread itself was fluffy, light, and packed with salty, garlicky flavor. I could have easily kept eating it! The gnocchi was just alright and probably wouldn't be something I'd order again. It wasn't very firm and tended to stick together with the other pieces. The steak, on the other hand, was incredible! It was tender, juicy, and cooked beautifully. The crispy vegetables paired really well with the steak and added a nice texture to the dish. We ended up ordering more bread, and I loved it so much that I took some home to enjoy for breakfast the next morning! Overall, a beautiful spot with a romantic ambiance and some standout dishes.

We were tucked away in an indoor/outdoor area with gorgeous orange comfy chairs. We did not come in with a reservation. Again this place was a stumbled upon gem. We looked online for a nice place to go for my boyfriend's 30th birthday. He loves moose and we love farm to table food. The server helped us decide what to get for drinks, both delicious. The food.....holy cow. Heavenly. Our two meals tasted so vastly different so it was great that we were each able to sample the other's and they were both SO tasty. We asked our server for a special dessert for his birthday, she asked if we liked bananas and we enthusiastically said yes. Next thing we know, this decadent warm banana and caramel creation is coming towards us with a giant sparkler. This was probably hands down....one of the best desserts I have ever had in my life. I would make the trip back up here solely for that! Should we ever find ourselves back up in the Catskills, this will ABSOLUTELY be on our list of places to revisit.

We were seated immediately in a very cozy booth, and the server was friendly and helpful. We had the fondue, of course, with apples and veggies added on. The one thing I wasn't wild about was that they charged for each drink refill, but the server was attentive and the fondue was so good that I can definitely forgive that.

We also had wonderful service from several staff members throughout our meal, so well taken care of. We started with the House-Made Pierogi, the onions are cooked down in butter and sage, the brown butter hits with richness, cool sour cream, then the pierogi melt in your mouth. The texture of the pierogi itself, is tender and pillowy, so the experience isn't just rich flavor, the experience is the texture as well. I had the roast chicken, which comes with whipped potatoes and carrots. A simple dish, packed with incredible flavor. The meat was moist and tender, the skin crisp, the cook spot on. The potatoes, might be Idaho, because the potatoe flavor really comes forward towards mid-bite. The buttery carrots are paired nicely with mint flavor. The sauce is Porcini-Tarragon cream, a very nice choice, really compliments the meal. I was impressed, and I think it speaks volumes to take a simple dish, impart it with rich flavor, technique, and to elevate it. My husband had the lobster spaghetti, but he's currently unavailable for my review. The ambiance is dimly lit, dark colors- rich like their flavors, some brick, and the volume lively. We sat by a window, which was nice at 730 for end of summer twilight. Next visit we'll make our reservation for the patio, which would have been lovely at that time, but we booked short notice- and felt very fortunate to get a table for such a phenomenal restaurant. I keep thinking back, and I'm pretty blown away. It couldn't have been any more perfect. We had an event prior, at Opus 40, Red Onion was the cherry on top! It was my birthday :)

Saw the Shepard Hills Tavern website and Instagram posts,…read morethought it looked good so booked a rez on Opentable for a Thursday night when they were supposedly serving dinner. One must navigate a badly graded narrow gravel road with several hairpin twists and turns and no lighting to get there. Not what I expected. The lovely stone clubhouse, verdant golf course and lush flowers were welcome sights. We were greeted by a pleasant young server and shown to an outside table. Unfortunately the metal table had no covering and was quite dirty; even worse were the thin red chair pads that smelled of some very unpleasant PP-like substance. Eww. Since all of the other tables looked similar or were occupied and service was slow, we thought we'd stay put and make the best of it - but also planned to shower in hot water soon afterward. We were given single sheet paper menus showing a limited selection, but our hopes were raised (and then dashed) when we saw the statement "ask your server about dinner specials and desserts." Well we asked - only to be told there were no such offerings except maybe on weekends. I had a nice fresh Greek salad and tiny dried out chicken wings. Hubby had a bland grilled chicken sandwich with fries. Iced tea tasted canned not brewed. We finished our meals, and as night descended we were the only ones left outside with our server MIA. After over 15 minutes of waiting we finally went inside the clubhouse to find our server socializing among a hopping bar scene of locals. Guess she forgot about us. While some restaurants are using post-COVID staff shortages as an excuse for slow and limited service, this bizarre experience went way beyond that rationale. Accordingly, we we will not risk life or limb to brave the winding road up to Shepard Hills Tavern again anytime soon.
