    Negroni, the perfect cocktail.

This place is everything you want in a neighborhood bar. The craft cocktails are on top notch--thoughtfully mixed, beautifully presented, and with a wonderful selection of major and local spirits. The bartenders clearly know their stuff and are super friendly. The small bites are just as impressive--flavorful, and perfect for sharing. Whether you're stopping in for a quick drink or settling in for the night, the vibe here is effortlessly cool, cozy lighting, and as an added bonus, it's dog friendly! This spot is a must. Already planning my next visit.

Small spot on the corner with a long bar to grab a seat at this welcoming cocktail bar. The cocktails are creative and fun. We didn't get any food but the enticing cocktails were all we needed to want to come back.

Our 2 evenings hanging out at Small Talk were the highlight of our trip! I also do not think we are alone in that assessment, as it seemed to be THE spot that tourists, locals, and industry folks all headed to after dinner. The bar was cozy, cool, and really innovative with its beverage list. There were creative cocktails, new takes on classic drinks, interesting wines, and local beers. Plus, the staff was incredible! Harry, Dan, and Julian were our bartenders during the two visits, and they were a joy! They really engaged with the customers and were also clearly passionate about their craft. Lastly, every patron was super friendly and welcoming, which established a familial vibe. A few of the items that I tried were the Naked and Famous (cocktail with mezcal, Aperol, yellow chartreuse, and lime), a Margarita, an Espresso Martini, and a flight of whiskeys/ryes. Everything was excellent! Small Talk was such a cool place, and I just wish it was more conveniently located so that I could go there more often!

Small talk is the perfect small-town cocktail bar. It is frequented by many locals but also a favorite of visitors. It is the best place in woodstock to get a great cocktail and to enjoy some small talk :). It really is. And it doesn't hurt that it is in the center of town, with a great view of the mountain and the village green, in the coziest little space. They make an excellent Last Word, a fantastic Espresso Martini, and also try the Village Green, which is their invention and is delicious. They usually also have Maine Beer Co Lunch on tap, and they have a great wine selection including a wonderful crémant for those who want some bubbly. Also some fab little snacks to have with your drinks (no entrees- just olives, nuts, cheese boards, etc). And Mark, Dan, Harry, and Julian all are fantastic behind the bar, so you can't go wrong, whenever you visit!

From the beloved Shindig restaurant in years past and ¿Que Lo Qué's? short-lived stint, comes Small Talk- a cocktail bar on Tinker St in Woodstock. The original bones are still here- down to the rustic, turquoisey, scalloped wall frame. The light-color plank wall is now black, the few booths are upholstered in black and the counter is done in wood and marbley stone. This is the complete opposite of the previous two and rightfully so. Our girl Sheena(sp?), had to double-check on mixture and recipe for our cocktails- but she mixed and stirred like there's no tomorrow. Our drinks were refreshing and average between $15-16- but several touches of strength were needed. We also ordered a cheese board made simply and nice to have. These folks offer the classic cocktails- but if you want a specialty drink, ask if they have the ingredients and they'll hook you up. Small Talk is done right, has all the signs of a cozy vibe. The old school Reggae+Indie playlist and an overall wonderful and chilled ambiance put the cherry on top. I wish them much success and hopeful they don't get up and leave. This is an easy-going spot where you somehow wind up talking to the person next to you- whether it's small talk or not.

A sweet cozy/intimate spot for anybody to come through and have refreshing drinks and some bangin' food. A big plus is that their kitchen is open later than most and they come with some certified hitters, we got the Mac and cheese and some kielbasa. A perfect combo and great portions. The MAC came with some type of "bean salad" and could not have been any more complimentary to the meal. An even bigger plus were the drinks AND service. They do a great job of being attentive but not hovering over you even in an intimate space. Harry also made one of the Top 2 MEANEST Old Fashion's I've ever had, Respectfully!

A very cool hole in the wall, well stocked and with a menu of interesting cocktails. Nice vibe at the bar seating.

What a disappointment. Super cramped quarters, too loud to hear your drinking companions without shouting, and rude service.

From the moment we arrived, the team made us feel so welcome, ushering us to an awesome table on their inviting patio so we could dine with our dog. The service only got better from there. Our server, Grace, was phenomenal. We were debating between small and large plates and asked for her advice on portions. Usually, servers just push you to order more, leading to a table full of wasted food. Grace did the exact opposite--she guided us perfectly and honestly advised against adding another side dish. She was 100% right on the mark. Thank you. Absolutely every single dish was a "wow"--piping hot, beautifully presented, and packed with flavor: ----Tteok Bokki ($18): I had seen this on many Korean menus and this was my first time trying Korean rice cakes, and I'm so glad I did. A wonderfully spicy, cheesy, chewy combo with melted raclette. --Crispy Wild Shrimp & Shishito ($24): Another spicy, delectable hit with a great sweet-and-savory balance. --Moo Shu Mushroom & Vegetables ($30): Delicious and fresh--the perfect mild counterpoint to the heavier, spicy dishes. --Crispy Panko Chicken Katsu ($32): We're still talking about how incredible this was. Definitely on the higher end price-wise, but given the stellar food, ambiance, and great service, well worth it. If we lived locally, Goodnight would be on our regular rotation.

We were pleasantly surprised to see how many people were there that night, which helped contribute to the atmosphere. The staff was incredibly nice and attentive. We started with the Tteok Bokki and Crispy Wild Shrimp with Shishito peppers. We also got the Bibimbap and the Vietnamese steak frites. The flavors throughout this meal were well developed and delicious. The Tteok Bokki was so special and cheesy and delicious. Almost like a chewy rice noodle Asian Mac and cheese vibe. The wild shrimp dish was great. The components were all great, what was super surprising was how amazing the shishito peppers were. It was the best bite of that dish, which is saying a lot. The mains were equally as good. The flavors were all there. The steak was tender and delicious. The bibimbap was so good. We happily took home our leftovers. Overall, it was a great experience. It was a good price, given how well everything was executed, and I would happily come back either just for cocktails and apps or for the full meal.

Keep going...we were wondering if we were in the wrong place but the place is in the back! The vibes are warm, rustic, hunting cabin type with wood tables, wood stacked decoratively on the walls and antler type light fixtures. We sat at a table by the wood-fired oven and we loved it. That smoky wood fireplace smell We started with drinks, the guys ordered IPAs on tap...I went for the hot cider with a dash of bourbon. I found it light on the booze but I find that true most places. For an app, we shared a slice of toast topped with burrata. The thing was bigger than I thought. It was good. We decided to all order one of the specials, the short rib dinner with polenta and broccolini. Good Lord was it good. Huge short rib, delicious and tender, with a yummy Malbec Demi-glaze that was delicious. The rib sits on a big portion of polenta --seriously the best I've ever eaten. The broccolini was nice. I can see why they were running out of that dish for the night. Hubby ordered a mousse dessert that he enjoyed. I was too full to eat anymore. Our waiter was amazing with great recommendations and friendly as anything. I definitely recommend!!!!

It was a Thursday so maybe things weren't as busy as normal but we showed up a little early and the back biergarten was open so we got some drinks as it was a nice spring afternoon. The bartender was very friendly and when we attempted to bring our drinks around front she let us know that we had to finish them first. The Venue itself reminded me a bit of the nearby Levon Helm studios in that it's an open space with a balcony overlooking everything and seating and standing room on the base floor. One thing I loved about this show is the sound was great. We sat stage left but the PA was subtly piping the DJ and guitar parts from stage right. It wasn't a huge crowd but people were having a good time with some standing room in front of the bar dancing etc. The bartenders were super attentive and responsive during the performance. I have been to Bearsville, Levon Helm and now Colony and I really feel lucky to have such intimate performance spaces somewhat locally. All of the staff were super friendly. Will be back for sure!

Walking into the restaurant there is an amazing ambiance, the lighting is soft, the decor is beautiful and staff was super friendly and helpful with recommendations. Appetizers: Dumplings were soft and tasty (only wish they were crisper!), the crispy rice bites were out of this world, I've never had something so nice, little spicy but so much flavor, presentation was also beautiful! Main Course: Decided on the sashimi dinner for 2, it did not disappoint, perfect amount, finished everything and this was the BEST salmon I have ever tried. As an avid sushi lover I had nothing but respect and positive feedback for the sushi, I need to come back for it! Dessert: mochi was absolutely exquisite and the matcha crème brûlée was rich and creamy, definitely a little sweet. Over an hour between the appetizer, an average plate of karaage, and the sashimi and sushi. This on a night with the upstairs closed and the place only half full. If the ama ebi has lost all its flavor, nothing else on the plate is fresh. Only the seabream stood out. The saddleback roll, which the waiter talked up, was the biggest disappointment. Only the oshinko maki was good. The most tenured sushi chef was passionate about the product. No one else in the kitchen was doing much to help him, considering how many cuts he had to rescue. It's not a sushi bar unless you can see the freshness of the fish on display. Telling, then, that Medo has no display case at a sushi bar that should just be called a counter. $120 per person isn't expensive for sushi. But it is for the experience we just had.
