The food at this restaurant is very good. The pork chop is fantastic. My wife and I and another couple have eaten here several times and we have never been disappoint. They give a really nice pour on their wine.... no cheapskates here. they have a nice outdoor dining spot and the inside of the restaurant is really pretty. This is a long standing Italian restaurant in Newburgh. For our family it was always a special occasion restaurant and food was always delicious. They recently added a bar menu with some very nice dishes for $25 with a glass of wine. It's great if you can sit at the bar. There are a few 2 top tables in the bar area which we sat at tonight.. I don't recommend as we were forgotten and had to flag down servers for a glass of wine and we never really knew who our servers were. The guys who poured the water and brought bread were great . I hope they get all of our tip. I won't be returning any soon and I hope they can correct this. read more

Craving good Italian food, we drove 45 minutes to find Il Cenacolo, a Northern Italian and Tuscan inspired Italian restaurant. We were seated immediately in a cozy restaurant by a friendly waiter. We quickly received Italian bread with a kale, butter and parmesan cheese spread, different but tasty. Since it was just me and my bestie, We started with Burrata Con Funghi in Padella, soft milky mozzarella cheese served with garlic sautéed oyster and shiitake mushrooms. So flavorful, not overpoweringly garlicy. I followed that delicious appetizer with Petto o' Anatra, maple leaf breast of duck in a bed of port wine reduction and sun dried cranberries. I didn't know duck was part of Italian cuisine, but it was molto bella! Two sliced duck breasts in sweet/savory cranberry sauce/port wine reduction. So good! My entree was also served with sweet peas in the pod with a garlic butter sauce, light and complimentary to the entree. ONO!!! read more

Outstanding Italian restaurant with an excellent, caring staff! I don't know whether it's not considered a family place, but we went one night with friends who had a 4-year-old child. Although she's super well-behaved, it's not a kid-centric place. The servers couldn't have been nicer to her or more accommodating to us. The food was wonderful. Two of us had different pasta dishes (see photos for details), and one had the steak. All three were exquisite. Honestly don't know you can go wrong with this menu! One heads up for anyone who has mobility issues -- getting into and out of the restaurant does require a person to be able to walk down and then up 3 or 4 steps to get in, as well as to use the restroom if needed during the meal. But you can also order food for take-out! Cannot wait to return to this restaurant for another special dining experience. read more

So the ambience/service at this place is great. The parking lot is nice and big also. The food however, was not the best. We ordered the 'Filetto al Pepe Nero', which is the filet mignon; this came drenched in the cream sauce to the point you couldn't even figure out what was in the plate. It looked like soup. We also ordered the Ravioli al Funghetto, which is ravioli with spinach and ricotta, in mushroom purée sauce. This also came drenched in the cream sauce and so much oil!! For the dessert, I got the chocolate lava cake, which the lava part had already came apart prior to them even bringing the dessert to the table. I think the scoop of vanilla ice cream on top made the cake explode before it even reached us. And we also ordered the rice pudding, which looked like a cappucino in the cup. The portabello, prosciutto, and Mozzarella appetizer was probably the single best appetizer I've ever had!! The stuffed veal chop entree was equally delicious, the drinks were on par, and dessert was devine! The table next to us had a filet and lobster tail with shrimp that also had my mouth watering. Terrible for the price. I got a salmon in cream sauce linguini. The linguini was stuck together like it was not stirred while cooked. There was no salmon in the sauce. Well maybe it was blended in, but there were no pieces of salmon. Did not like the ambience either. Very small and crowded together, claustrophobic. My wife and I celebrated our 38th anniversary here on Thursday (our first time). The food was delicious and the wait staff (especially Xheni) was very friendly and attentive. This restaurant will forever hold the most special place in my heart because my perfect man proposed here. He let them know ahead of time and they had the most lovely bouquet of flowers and champagne arranged for us upon arrival. Assuming this was just a birthday celebration, I was totally not expecting anything more. Cricket was our amazing server who came over and offered us menus and drinks. She beautifully outlined all the nights specials with such finesse it was like listening to poetry.  As if she was reading the recipes, she recited the ingredients in each dish. How she remembered all those options still amazes me.  We ordered appetizers of grilled octopus, the house special of marinated vegetables meats and cheese and smoked trout. Our appetizers came but honestly I only recall that everything was delicious because right after, he proposed!  We split the mushroom ravioli and had a decadent homemade chocolate dessert. Sensing our excitement to share our amazing news with our families, Cricket offered to wrap everything for us (which we savored the following day).  Everything here is prepared with the finest and freshest ingredients. My husband and I had an early Sunday dinner here. It was our first time at Il Cenacolo and we could not have had a better experience. As soon as we entered....the place had a welcoming and comfortable vibe like we were guests in someone's cozy Italian villa. The owner, Rita, is amazing. She is not only sweet but really knows her business. I was immediately impressed with the numerous specials she offered and knew them all from memory without any notes. She was also very accommodating and offered an array of options to suit our tastes regarding the antipasti (it was fantastic!) . The pasta dishes were offered as regular of half portions to have as dinner or an appetizer. She suggested a wine we never had before and it was a perfect pairing with our food. The staff took such good care of us that we never had to ask for anything; it was like they read our minds. We never felt rushed as we took our time eating and talking. It was such a pleasant experience. The food was authentic and delicious and the portions were generous. We will definitely be back and will recommend it to all of our friends and family. The only thing that was made by them and was good was the lemon drop martini. Other than that.... Choice of beer was very limited, my husband had to go through three picks so he could finally settle for the 4th one. That should have been our que to leave. Appetizer, it was ok, but we had to wait for 1.5 hr for our main meal to arrive. This was after I had to ask why our meal was taking so long. We noticed that people that came in after us, were getting their meals before us. Finally when they got around to getting our meal, my fish and seasoned potatoes were cold, my dad's octopus dish was still undercooked, he did no like the slimy taste left in it. My husband's meat was not cooked to what he asks for; compared to Jimmy's steakhouse this left much to aspire to. His side of mashed potatoes was so plain and watery, it was the taste of potato and salt only; no taste of butter, milky garlic or some pepper. Even my kids complained about their bow tie pasta, they said it was too simple and had no flavor, they preferred Cosimo's instead. They gave us the drinks on the house, but honestly for what we got on a Friday night, when it's expected to be busy and their star personnel should be on fire! the food was overpriced and overhyped. Continuing the month long celebration for my mom's 85th birthday took us to Il Cena'colo in Newburgh,NY. My brother and sister-in-law have eaten there before and really enjoyed it. There is a a small pond out back with patio dining near it. It looked very nice. We decided to eat inside. It was interestingly decorated. It was not busy at the time so we got seated right away. Service was quick and out waitress was awesome. There were 8 of us so we ordered a mozzarella caprese, fried calamari and a cold antipasta for 4 as appetizers. The mozzarella caprese was good, the calamari was cooked nicely but the size of the dish was small. The cold antipasta was disappointing as it had alot of lentils, chickpeas, turnips, grilled onions but was light on cheeses and meats. It also was lacking fresh mozzarella and roasted peppers as described. You may think how can I give it 4 stars, well...the menu has alot of choices but the waitress recited a list of specials that doubled the choices and we still asked for things that weren't on the menu or recited as a special and they accommodated everything without hesitation. Everyone enjoyed their entrees but I can tell you my squid ink linguine with seafood was delicious. I used up the bread on the table to get every drop of the sauce. The entree portions were huge. Only 3 of us were able to finish. The prices were not cheap so it is not a budget conscious kind of place but for a special occasion it would not disappoint. I would definitely go back. read more

After seeing the pictures on the website, we decided to forego the usual nearby favorites, go to's and decided to drive 45 minutes to Il Cenacolo. What a FANTASTIC place!. The atomosphere was cozy, warm and Rita was just outstanding. She is friendly, accomodating and inviting. You feel as if you are visiting family. The wine, food and service was absolutely terrific. Il Cenacolo was a destination trip for us and I am glad we decided to take the drive. We will certainly go back although next time with friends to share the experience. I went to this place few weeks ago with a group of friends. According to them this place was very good. When i go inside it had a very warm Tuscan speakeasy aatmospere. It had alot of cobblestone, wood and alot of Italian trinkets and antiques on walls and ceiling. Bar area had alot of wine racks and barrels; very rustic feel. The waitress gave us plenty of time to enjoy the appetizers that we ordered. Calamari stuufed mushrooms and a meat and veggis mozzerella plate. It was35-40 until we ordered out main dishes. I had the ribeye special. It was cooked perfectly. It was a great time overall. Service was excellent, place was busy, prices were fair. The only exception was the veg meat appetizer plate. We werent sure if the plate added more since it was made for four for a table with 7 ppl, much to our surprise that the plate was $125!00 but it was ok. We ate there first time. Overall, it was great time. I would come back here again. If ribeye wasnt bolled as special i wiuld have also tried the lobster ravioli. read more

A restaurant that never fails give us a great meal. We started with a great appetizer - Misto Terra with meats. We ordered for three. A wonderful variety of vegetables, meats and cheeses (with a glass of wine and a loaf of bread) that gave us a great start of the dinner.) My choice was a Veal Chop (pounded thin) and made Milanese style with breadcrumb coating topped with Diced tomatoes and arugula and served with green beans. My wife ordered the grilled swordfish with Olive oIl and salt & pepper and a touch of lemon juice, also with the green beans. The staff is highly knowledgeable and the chef will create whatever you want, as long as they have the ingredients. The memorized specials menu is as long as their regular menu. Many entrées can be done as half servings or appetizers. The grilled octopus and Burrata with mushrooms are a must as apps.
