Sat on the patio with 2 friends on a beautiful evening. The views of the river and ambiance were perfect. The service was very good; not overbearing but very attentive. While I feel the menu is small and lacks enough "red sauce" dishes, everything we ordered was great. We split the charcuterie and the cacio e pepe meatballs as appetizers. I was dipping bread in the meatball sauce it was so good. We all had the Burrata Ravioli Bolognese. We were looking for a Fourth of July restaurant to eat at, and unfortunately every place we went to was reservation only or reserved for a private party. We then walked into Cafe Pitti and they were able to seat us immediately! They had to seat us inside because the outside was for reserved seating, but that was not an issue at all. Upon reviewing the menu, we realized it was basically ALL seafood, with the exception of a few steak dishes/one lamp chop dish, and the pizza. There were also absolutely NO chicken options whatsoever. We decided to order the steak sandwich, and the NY strip. The steak sandwich was medium sized, and it came with chips on the side. The chips were just a handful of what seemed to be wavy potato chips. The NY Strip came with a side of Brussels sprouts/red peppers/zucchini. The steak was a decent size but the side was very small. The flavor of the steak was delicious, and the steak sandwich also had good flavoring, however I feel like the portions are quite small compared to other restaurants I've been to. For dessert, we ordered gelato, with an espresso, and a latte. The gelato was delicious! Felt like we were eating it straight from Italy! The espresso was good but small, so ask for a double shot if you're gonna want more. The latte was basic. Our waitress was very nice. Service was good but could have been a bit quicker being that the restaurant was still fairly empty at that time. We did have to ask for some bread which they brought out with olive oil. I would definitely return to this restaurant to try their pizza because it definitely looked delicious. Just be aware that this restaurant is geared towards seafood eaters! read more

Delicious Italian sandwiches here! I was also pleasantly surprised by the architecture inside-- somehow it reminded me of Venice even though I've never been. We asked the hostess if she could recommend a nearby restaurant, and, without hesitation, she said this restaurant was every bit as good as hers. One girlfriend has ravioli in tomato sauce. She requested soft foods as she has severe dental problems. My other girlfriend asked for chicken in cream sauce. I am on a strict low fat, sugar, salt and carbohydrate diet. The chef himself came out to me and said he would have to make changes to the recipe to accommodate my diet. I was OK with the changes, and I had fish. One girlfriend has dessert, and it was a homemade sorbet made with fresh berries. We were all very happy with the ambience and attentive service. My family & I visited yesterday for dinner (Easter Sunday) and so glad we did! It was a beautiful day and the space is very inviting with a fantastic view. Our party chose the charcuterie appetizer and the veal ravioli, magherita pizza, gnocchi w 3 cheeses & one of the day's special pastas, a cheese tortellini w chicken for our meal. They e got a Nice wine list & we also enjoy desserts of tiramisu and chocolate lava cake. Everything was plated beautifully and tasted delicious! The real standout was the service. We dined on the patio and enjoyed the lovely views while enjoying very attentive and friendly service. Little toasted bread and oil was plentiful. Salads were creative. We had a very new young server; who was really trying hard. The other waitstaff were supportive and filled any gaps in service. They were amazing!! Food. Meh. Crab cakes were bland and almost all breading. They were very disappointing. The pizzas were good, but not mind-blowing. The crust was very nice and cooked in wood fired oven. The truffle was a bit overpowering on the scamorza and cremini mushroom pizza-and I could've used some red sauce on my sausage pizza . My bf had the lobster bisque. It was a bit floury and bland. Not very flavorful. So, to sum up my review; I'd go back for the atmosphere and excellent service; but the food could use improvement. read more

The owner-manager wasn't very nice when we asked to come in with our dog, and after we were seated in the back he told us that the heater wasn't working, when it was perfectly working after one of the waitress noticed I was pregnant, food was mediocre my husband had half of a half of a dried steak sandwich made on a stale bread accompanied with a side of fritto lay potato chips. I had what was supposed to be gnocchi but it was inedible. The waiter was constantly hovering our table asking if everything was ok when it was not. I love coming here! Such a great spot on the river front. It is perfect for lunch or a light dinner. A nice casual spot with great service! I have tried a variety of menu items from panninis to focaccia. Everything I've had is enjoyable and fresh. The bread/ dough never disappoints- always perfectly crisp and flavorful. All the meats and cheese used are top quality. The portion sizes are great! I usually have some leftovers to bring home for a snack. They also have a nice selection on beers and wine which pair nicely with the menu offerings. The desserts always look great in the glass window but I have yet to try anything but the gelato- which is creamy and delicious! read more

This place was AMAZING. We stopped to sit on the patio originally for just a glass of wine or iced coffee while waiting for a lunch reservation. The staff was extremely welcoming and attentive. After viewing their menu we decided on the Piatti Facili (charcuterie plate), sangria, and wine. With a picky 5 year old with us, we saw they had various fruits on the menu and asked if we could have a small dish of apples and strawberries so he could have something to munch on. They exceeded our expectations and made our little guy extremely happy. The fruit dish was also a perfect complement to the charcuterie dish. A seasonal fruit plate would be a PERFECT addition to the menu. Everything was fantastic and we will DEFINITELY be back for a full on meal. We may even come back after lunch for some gelato! Went to this nice little restaurant. We were able to sit outside no wait on a Saturday night at 7:30 pm. I was with a group of six and although service was slow, I want to say it was because each dish was made by the chef and his assistant. Food was fresh, pizzas were excellent. Stopped by the Newburgh waterfront to escape the heat and grab some lunch. Most of the restaurants are still closed. There outside deck area was enclosed with no fans or ac. It had to feel like a hundred plus degrees. We chose to have their ice cold beer which came out lukewarm and decided not to order. Couldn't stand the sweltering heat. I understand everyone is trying and again say just think about it and come up with a plan that works, a fan anything. The next day the other restaurants were opening and I will bet this place will close for good. Pitti is an appropriate name because I pity anyone who eats there read more

Before heading to Billy Joe's for some live music and drinks, we stopped at Café Pitti which is a mere 100m from Billy Joe's. The restaurant looked nice from the outside, a classy sit down venue for a wood stove pizza place. We expected to grab a quick bite and a few pitchers. The ambience was nice with light mood music and a clean layout. There was a small wine menu and bottles of beer but no drafts. On recommendation by the waitress, I ordered the Quattro Formaggi (mozzarella, fontina, parmiggiano, and goat cheese). While the process of the baking pizza smelled delicious, the crust was quite burnt and the pizza was terribly sloppy and falling apart. The pizza seemed to be just tossed together, especially the goat cheese. Rather than a blend of cheeses, it was a mess and over powering, a classic example of trying to do too much but not getting a good product. My friends ordering different pizzas had no better luck. The pizzas were 1/5 at best and far too overpriced. The star goes to the ambience, nothing more. read more

Had lunch with coworkers today. Took two hours for them to make orders. I had a Panini that had one slice of ham, tomato and mayo! And it two hours to be served. Most of us didn't eat food. It was work related lunch so at least we didn't have to pay. They seated us outside because there wasn't enough room for all of us. They should of never booked us if they could not handle the orders. The temp hit 95 with one small fan that was useless. Vent the small brick oven pizzas were burnt for those who ordered it. What the worst was having to sit and watch the food being served in restaurant next to us that looked very good. read more

After an afternoon concert & stroll along the Newburgh waterfront, my friend suggested Cafe Pitti. My friend had eaten there before & thought I'd like it. I did. Everything from the wood piles out front ready for the wood-burning oven, to the decor, the friendly staff, & of course, the food. We shared 2 personal size pizzas - FORMAGGIO DELIZIA (a 4 cheese - goat, mozzarella, fontina & Parmigiano) & PROSCIUTTO RUCOLA (tomato sauce, arugula, mozzarella & prosciutto), both excellent with thin crusts & just enough toppings. Hard no. Overpriced. Food is lackluster. Personal pizza is sloppy at best. Lobster roll was dry. Side of potato chips? I didn't order them. Was there another option? Honestly there was nothing special about it. Not a great view because they have the two seat, postage stamp tables closest to the water, where no one wants to sit. Was not a fan on this place at all and I've had a lot of pizza. I came here with my sister and her boyfriend, it wasn't very busy. Ordered: Caprino and Quattro pizzas and the Focaccia Capocollo. Everything had a very strong odor and taste to it, I'm sure it's how the pizza was suppose to taste by my American palette isn't acquainted with such taste buds. Safe to say I did not like it especially the Caprino, it had a dried beef on it that wasn't like anything I tasted before. The Focaccia Capocollo was a waste of time, kinda like a panini, kinda like a cracker sandwich. It lacked a combining factor to bring the entire pizza together such as cheese. The crust on the other pizzas was very soggy and not crunchy at all (which you would expect from a thin crust). The service was pretty decent and the restaurant was pretty clean. read more
