risotto with shrimp in a mushroom sauce

We spent a night in the area and checked Yelp, which led us to Solaia. Called ahead for an early reservation. We were greeted and sat promptly when we arrived. Servers were friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed the flat bread set on the table. We started with calamari for an appetizer which was very good. I had the Risotto for my entree and my husband had chicken milanese. I confirmed with the server that it was indeed Risotto and not overcooked white rice before I ordered as some places have pulled that one. He assured me. He was right. Everything was very good. We would go back if in the area again.

Before ordering they present some Parmigiana with soppressata and this fried type of huge chips with some Italian bread. Nice touch as always. We had the octopus over broccoli rabe as an appetizer. The octopus was tender and a nice grill flavor in a light oil and garlic. Really done perfectly Ordered the Scaloppini alla Bolognese which came with about 4 medallions with prosciutto and mozzarella on top, in a light brown sauce with roasted/charred broccoli, carrots, and potatoes. Perfectly done and delicious! The staff is always on top of everything including water refills. The owner always makes his way around to see how everything is going. This is a Biden gem in Monticello. Well done!

Solaia Restaurant in Monticello is the type of restaurant you endlessly dwell on after the meal is complete. One of the most important details I admire about this restaurant is that they strive to offer fresh ingredients. The menu is well designed and balanced, offering plenty to consider without overwhelming you and the quality was evident every meal I tried. Everything has clean, natural flavors; everything was cooked perfectly (not overcook, not overwork, just damn good food with care). The service was just as impressive as the food. They were attentive but didn't hover, quite astounding how they manage to balance both so well. Whether you are coming for a modest meal or for a celebration service, you will leave feeling like it was definitely a special meal!

Continues to be consistent in their service, ambiance and delicious food. I started with Mango, spinach, red onions and cherry tomato's in a vinaigrette dressing. For my entree i had the Chilean Bass on top of spinach. My usual French martini, double expresso and Grand Mariner dinner desert. Class, consistency and attention to details. They never fail to please, thank you to the owner, staff and family!

Overall great food, the scallops were a little overcooked but otherwise the artichoke app was something I never had anywhere else and it was delightful. The service was swift and attentive and we sat by a large window that allowed us to peek outside on a rainy semi rainy evening. Overall, make a reservation if you are in the area and give it a try.

Went to be seated almost sat us in the side entrance table. I asked for the window and he sat us there with no problem. I am convinced restaurants dont read requests on reservations. I thought maybe they would bring a dessert out for my wife or for us to share for our Anniversary, but nothing was mentioned...oh well. Started with figs wrapped in prosciutto and stuffed with marscapone and a raspberry sauce, nice app and cooked nicely. For dinner I ordered the bone in veal chop with asparagus and broiled potato. It was tasty and tender. Waiter asked what temperature I want the chop. I told him 145-150 degrees. He smirked and said medium? Who asks what temperature you want your meat cooked? I cook so I know the temp. Maybe next time ask how you like it cooked? He seemed annoyed and my wife did not mention this until we returned home. I just think he isn't set out for this type of job. I didn't realize how annoyed this made my wife (still left 20% tip, all on my wife I would have left 15% and I rarely do that). The Martini was very good. I am giving 3 stars due to this waiter. Food was a solid 4.5. Probably won't go out of the way to return here.

We were not disappointed. We were seated promptly by our lovely hostess, and Shaun immediately came over to recite specials and to take our orders. He was attentive and we knew we were in good hands! We started with the Dr. Fox Cocktail: Angostura bitters, Bulleit Rye, Apple Liqueur, Dry Curacao, and Sweet Vermouth, which was perfect. It was accompanied by a hummus trio to spread on the bread. There was also a delicious foccacio. Next we were served a perfect salad, delicately dressed, and what made the salad so delightful was that the lettuce was torn into manageable pieces. A pet peeve of mine is large lettuce leaves that are difficult to wrangle, and this was not the case here. There were also tiny bits of cauliflower that gave the salad a nice texture and crunch.  I had the Stuffed Artichoke and my husband had Shrimp Gamberi on an Arugula salad. Both were substantial and beautifully seasoned. We had two glasses of an Argentine Tomero Malbec. It was a generous pour. For the main course, I had Polla al Limone (Lemon Chicken) over spinach. A simple dish done well. My husband had the Halibut special, a classic Mediterranean baked halibut with tomatoes, capers, and olives. So good that he finished it all...a rarity for him. (The halibut was pricey and it would be appreciated if the price was mentioned when the specials were gone over. Perhaps we should have asked.) We finished with a Sorbetto al Lampone, a tart raspberry sorbet in a dark chocolate shell and sliced.  And as we left, our sweet hostess brought over Lucianno, the most adorable puppy, to send us off with puppy kisses! We definitely will be back...especially for the wild boar ragu over pappadelles. One nitpicking observation. The entrance to the restaurant was a tad shabby. We mistook it for the service entrance. It needs to be spruced up to match the superb food inside!

Usually I like to pick what dishes are considered popular on Beli but I really wanted to try them, they're just too hot and not very satisfying to kick off your palate. The bread was okay, a little (very) messy and the hummus trio was cute but not necessary or particularly tasty. The pollo al limone and gamberoni e fagioli were good, a little dry but not a deal breaker. Service was nice, the place is pretty casual so I would recommend for a regular casual date night, it's not fine dining--the experience was nice but not luxurious. What I mean is it's cozy and inviting, not elegant and stuffy. Cheers!
