I love this restaurant with attached pizza shop nestled with a view of the lovely Catskill mountains. What an awesome selection of menu items (which I will post next time I'm there) to choose from. The food is always freshly made to order and absolutely delicious!! The staff goes out of their way to serve you with smiles and an awesome attitude. The dishes are always huge a no d you never leave hungry or without a to go box due to the helpings. The drinks are great too with a large variety of beers to choose from. Every time I go I'm planning the next time to go and who to take to turn them onto this wonderful spot. Take a turn off route 86 exit 116 and yelp for exact directions, It is only 10 minutes off the highway. Don't forget to hit the twin cone off the same exit for some ice cream for dessert. read more

We love this restaurant. Food is great. Prices are reasonable and portions are huge. We always get two meals out of a dinner and the pizza is so delicious. I could just order pizza and be happy. This would be the third time and by far the worst. My wife and I waited about 10 minutes to be seated with the waitress seeing us but rather choosing to continue to talk to seated guests. I am all for guest service but at least, seat the couple waiting. The menu is always fantastic with some great selections and the price for the amount of food is great. I went with my standard chicken cordon blue. It has been my favorite since the first visit. Probably should have changed items as today the breading was leathery and the chicken was either hard or tasteless. The Parmesan peppercorn sauce was watery. It has no flavor and was beyond painful. My side dish of broccoli had burnt tops. The pasta was the only thing that was okay on my plate. My wife had a margarita pizza that she was completely happy with. I'm glad. If both our meals tanked that would have been a huge disappointment. One thing is for certain, we won't be doing a date night there in a while or maybe even again, it is a trip to get there. read more

Every waitress has been attentive, especially Kelly, and we have only waited once, Mother's Day 2025, even with a reservation. I didn't mind because people were enjoying themselves and relaxing after a great meal. Highly suggest making a reservation anytime you want to go. Not sure what the hype is about this place. I've been here a few times since I was nearby and starving and I don't get why people are so obsessed with this place. Every time I've eaten here the food has just been "ok". Nothing that makes me say "I'm craving Mountain View tonight". Solid local spot that always has a full parking lot, no matter what day it is. Everyone around the area loves the place and I am one of those people. Was on the road back from NYC and needed to stop, I thought this place could be nice. The service was almost attentive and the whole meal was strange. My friend ordered a turkey burger with sweet potato fries, then was given a hamburger on toast with regular fries. I ordered a chicken sandwich on rye, instead I got a different type of sandwich with different bread. I don't get how you can mess something so simple up. Never fails for a good meal at a reasonable price. Staff is excellent, food is terrific and plenty of options. Had a great experience when chef notified us that meal contained a wheat starch in crab meat because we ordered gluten free because of an allergy. This review is for the Pizza & Hero's only. If you are from New York City and feel hostage to the lame pizza in the area then try this place out. For what it's worth, I believe it's the best pizza in the Pine Bush area. Crispy but chewy crust that you can eat the entire thing and a decent sauce. Cheese is good. Regarding Hot Heros, they are "On End" which means they take a 10-12" bread, cut one end off then fill it in from the end. The only problem is, my chicken parm was just stuffed with a lot of sauce and cut up pieces of chicken which was mostly breading and at over $8 each, stick with the pizza. A little off the main road but easy to get to. 3 stars considering the other pizza alternatives. read more

I suppose I'm cheating a little by writing a review for a restaurant I didn't actually eat at, though not for lack of trying. In summary, the staff of Mountain View Restaurant were rude, mean, and unhelpful to the point of maliciousness. If you'd like more detail please read on. My group of 11 people found this restaurant using a Garmin GPS after a weekend of camping. Given how deserted the restaurant was on a Sunday afternoon you would have thought that they would be grateful for 11 hungry people who just wanted a hot meal and to get on the road. Unfortunately no one seemed to have ever given the employees of Mountain View Pizza any customer service training. As you may have gathered from other reviews, this restaurant is split into two sections, a sit down restaurant and a pizza parlor. The restaurant section was closed since they serve alcohol and we arrived before noon on a Sunday. The pizza parlor side has only two tables and three chairs. As part of the group began perusing the menu we asked very politely if we could either sit in the other section, or move chairs from the restaurant to the pizza parlor so that our whole group could sit down to enjoy our food. We were flatly refused, being told that both options were "impossible". We asked if there wasn't any way that they could accommodate us, since we would love to give them our business, but they were completely unwilling. As we left I asked if there were any restaurants near by that might be able to accommodate our moderately sized group and was told of a diner "just make two left turns, its about two miles down". I thought that it was at least friendly of them to point us in the right direction, but of course it couldn't be that easy. The "friendly" employee had neglected to tell us that the first left turn would end in a bridge that was under construction, and in fact we would need to go another two miles out of the way. After far longer than necessary we ended up at the Quickway Diner where we were greeted by the exceptionally friendly, helpful staff, and had a great experience. read more

I have frequented the Mountain View numerous times in order to get a better understanding of the place. One time it's great, one time it's not so great. However, it's been not so great more than it's been great. The food is inconsistent and the service is mediocre. This review is a tough one for me. I wish you could rate the staff separate from the food, but you can't. If they changed their staff this place would be 5 stars. My first time here, I found glass in my salad (ewwww) and the response when I told the server was "Well at least you're not hurt". I vowed to never go back, but I've given it another round twice. The food is great, the white bean and sausage soup is divine. Besides the horrible glass in my salad, I've actually never had a bad meal here. I had the penne a la vodka which was the best I've had in the area and their Valdestano is pretty delish too. HOWEVER, the service is always terrible. I've sat at the bar once and the dining room twice. The staff always look like they've sucked on lemons. I've never had a member of the staff come back after our meal was served to ask if we needed anything, I've always had to ask for a refill of my beverage by flagging my server down. I've never gotten a smile, there are no pleasantries exchanged. I waitressed and bartended my way through college and grad school, I expect a certain level of service from other waitresses or bartenders. I know the owners won't read this, but if you do... Please consider a staff meeting/training on customer service/staff interaction. Your restaurant is a gem, it's always busy, but you'd have more customers if your staff were more pleasant to the "non-regulars" or out of towners. read more

This place is excellent. Casual atmosphere, great bar area, specials are excellent and the food is reasonable. Make sure to call ahead for a reservation on the weekends as it fills up quickly. Very bad!!! They did not have the weekend special available, Chilean Sea Bass, which was the sole reason my wife wanted to go there. And the dish I ordered, the King Cut Prime Rib, Garlic Mashed and Vegetable Medley, (Medium Rare, please) was old meat, reheated in a microwave, along with the mashed potatoes until neither was recognizeable nor edible. Only the Vegetable Medley was fresh, and had any kind of flavor. And, as I have been a meat cutter for nearly 50 years, I can say with certainty that the piece of Prime Rib I was served was NOT USDA Prime, or USDA Choice, but a much cheaper USDA Select, or a USDA Utility grade. You literally could not cut it, or chew it, and it was totally tasteless, which is unheard of for that cut of meat. On top of everything else, our dinner was rushed. The entree arrived well before we finished our appetizers. We were never asked if we needed refills on our drinks, and for what it's worth, we were never asked if we'd like dessert. My friend had a shower there and I have to say that they were not very accommodating. Infact the manager was down right rude. One of the items that she had asked for was a tray of salmon and it was down right refused. The manager would not make it for her. There were dietary issues and that dish would have been great for that purpose. As well the tables were dirty and she was promised a certain amount of tables and space. Once we were there to set up the manager rudely told us that we could not have as much space or tables as promised. In the end we had to take what was promised to her anyway. The food is okay. Not good enough for me to ever choose to eat there again. Especially since I don't tolerate rudeness. read more
