We stopped here one night after our games at The Rock with a few other families. I've looked into it ahead and had high expectations going in. Plenty of parking in a lot behind the establishment. Restaurant is in a very nice and clean "small town downtown. " We had reservations and was seated within 15 minutes upon arrival. Inside was casual, quaint and everyone went above and beyond. For an appetizer, we went with the Margherita pizza, I had to get a French Onion Soup and for dinner I got the chicken parm with angel hair. Don't ask why, I was in the mood for it. The pizza was excellent. Fresh sauce and mootz. Slight crisp to the crust. We were all pleasantly surprised. The French Onion Soup was also done correctly. Properly seasoned and the perfect amount of cheese. The chicken parm was solid. A good portion of fresh chicken breasts. Sauce was solid. Perfect way to end the weekend. Don't snooze on this place if you're in the area! read more

Came here as part of our date night with my boyfriend. He's never been before and I wanted him to try it. Well, he absolutely loved it. The food was amazing. It's fancy, But yet, casual. family oriented and very nicely set up. we both had the surf and turf. It was absolutely delicious. Pricing is reasonable and we didn't have to wait. The steak was cooked to perfection and so was the shrimp. This is definitely a place that we will visit again. Whether for a lunch or a dinner, if you're in the area, definitely stop by. read more

Rustic Wheelhouse - Deliciously consistently prepared food. Fast friendly service - Italian Near Me - Chester, New York

Our family spent the day at Legoland and didn't want to eat dinner at the Legoland resort. We googled restaurants nearby and found Rustic Wheelhouse. It's less than a 10 minute drive from Legoland and we are so glad we found it. The restaurant is cozy and as the name suggests rustic. The service was friendly and attentive. I had the Tuscan Kale salad and loved it. The hazelnut added a nice crunch to the salad. We also ordered the crab cakes, although we were not a big fan of the sauce the crab cakes itself were cooked perfectly. My daughter loved her personal kids pizza and we also had the Neapolitan. If you like thin crust pizza, they make a good brick oven thin crust pizza. For dessert we got the brownie sundae & crème brûlée. The brownie & chocolate ganache was warm & went well with the vanilla ice cream. We would definitely come back again if we are in the area. read more

Food 5/5 Service 5/5 (my waitress and trainee) Ambiance rustic. I would definitely return. Everything we ordered came out great and the kids enjoyed it. However there was a waitress(not our) who seemed to not want to be there and wouldn't acknowledge our greetings nor our kids. read more

***would be two stars, but the fact that they can't communicate with their customers without the use of a generic ChatGPT sounding robot tells you all you need to know about the pride they put into their menu and service*** Family has been coming here every Christmas Eve for over a decade now. I'm not sure why. I've suggested other places, but we're suckers for tradition I suppose. On this last visit we were there at 5pm with our party of 11. Felt rushed from the start. The waiter seemed more concerned with us leaving than taking care of the table. Never asked or offered a refill on our glasses of wine. Never asked how food was (avoid the salmon). I had to go to the bar myself to get some lemon wedges because he didn't check up. One of the dishes did not come out until the rest of the party was nearly finished (a pizza). We waited as long as we could for the pizza to show up before starting our own meals. Not that it mattered that much... potatoes were cold anyway. At 6:30 during coffee and some light gift exchanges the waiter started bussing the table telling us a party of 13 was waiting. Srsly?? Table waiting 101: that's a no-no. I guess the restaurant only set aside an hour and change for a party of 11.... Which is not our problem as diners. If you do decide to go, make sure you don't sit near the heater. We made the mistake of forgetting to request that this time though we should've learned from the past (two years ago it was singeing leg hairs and we had to change our manner of sitting in order to try to escape it). They will not turn it down because it "heats the entire restaurant." We agreed when we were leaving: never again. Tradition be damned. read more

The food was really delicious. Pizza, Caesar salad and mozzarella sticks especially. My son also liked the mussels. The service was a bit slow as they seemed to have only one server and a bartender working. But we will be back! read more

The service was horrible we waited 20 minutes for our server another 20 minutes for drinks which came after appetizers. The food was barely edible pizza was absolutely black on the bottom, the chicken was tasteless and looked like it was boiled, the salad was floating in dressing. Our server although pleasant was outside petting a snake when we were trying to get our check. The place was so hot we were all sweating through dinner it was cooler outside. Sorry but this place is truly awful. read more

First time trying this restaurant, we live about 25 mins away, but attending an event in the area. Sat at the bar as we weren't sure if we were going to snack or have dinner. We ended up with me having a pizza and hubby having chicken Francese. We both enjoyed our food. Service was decent, although it seemed as though the bar staff was frustrated. We were not offered bread, however the next couple at the bar was given bread. Maybe you have to ask for it. Cool building and ambiance. We would definitely try it again. read more

Hidden gem! Family run restaurant vibes! The staff were attentive even though they were busy on Sunday night. There was also live music at around 7PM which was wonderful. The grilled octopus was the highlight; it was probably the best I've ever had!! Pasta and French onion soup were good. I don't think we'd get the pizza again. Overall, everything was amazing and we can't wait to go back! Pro tip- there's parking in the back! read more

Went there on a weekday for lunch. We were the only table at the time, so there was no wait. The food was good -- the pizza was better than most of the pizza in Manhattan. It's also worth mentioning that the waitress was very professional and friendly; she definitely deserves a raise. read more

I absolutely love this place homemade pasta and delicious pizza. They have it all at this place. It is a nice quaint place to have dinner. It really is. The atmosphere is made to look rustic, but I love it. It is very quaint and cozy. I always have a good meal when I go there and I don't break the bank. They are very reasonable and their dishes are delicious. Everything is great and like I said I go there a lot so if you're in the neighborhood in Chester down Main Street where the old Bodles used to be go and check out the Rustic Wheelhouse they have drinks as well as food. It's a nice place to dine out. read more

Came here on a Sunday night. We were here with a group of 10. The Neapolitan pizza had a nice crust with the right amount of char from the wood-fired oven. The rigatoni Bolognese featured a rich, hearty sauce that clung beautifully to the pasta. The pasta had good al dente texture. The caprese salad was a refreshing complement, with nice tomatoes and creamy mozzarella. All the dishes were quite good and homemade.  Overall, we were surprised to find such a nice rustic homey Italian place -- as good as many traditional Italian places in NYC and Brooklyn. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff added to the overall experience. read more

Such a delicious meal every time I visit this restaurant! Extremely reasonable pricing... Very quiet during the day and such a cozy spot for anything from meeting a friend for lunch or a business lunch. The portions are plentiful and not overwhelming. The French onion soup is the best that I ever had. Parking on the street is limited but there is a municipal lot in the back ... give it a try you def won't be disappointed read more

this is a very nice restaurant The service is good the tables are spaced far enough apart way, it has charming rustic decor and good views. The food is excellent. The only thing that stopped me from giving it a 5 star review is that it was pretty cold on the day I was there and that is something I don't like in a restaurant. I will love going there in warmer weather read more

The kitchen was a bit backed up, and the service was a bit slow, but it was worth the wait because the food was absolutely delicious!

This restaurant was just a wonderful experience. From the moment we were greeted at the door through the wonderful meal we ate. The server who took care of us was a wonderful woman. She came by as soon as we sat down and made sure that we were going to have a good experience there. Just loved the very rustic 'look and feel' of this shop. Clearly, they have been around for a while. A prior reviewer used the word "charming." A perfect word for this restaurant. We started with the delicious and plentiful Fried Calamari. Beer battered and served with a spicy and regular tomato sauce. These were good. Nice and crispy on the outside and tender on inside. My wife had the onion soup which was hot and tasty, with plenty of onions. Everything was perfect. Helene had the Wheelhouse Chicken. Grilled marinated chicken breast served with sautéed broccoli rabe and mashed potatoes. Everything was wonderful, perfectly cooked and all very tasty. I had the Lasagna, since I can never pass up and good Lasagna. This was awesome-saucy-meeting with wonderful pasta. Our friend had the Hanger steak over risotto. Tender, tasty and plentiful. We're looking forward to a followup trip to the area and a second dinner there. It's worth the trip! read more

This was our first time at the Rustic Wheelhouse. The service was wonderful, the young lady who took care of us couldn't have been nicer. It wasn't very busy when we got there, but filled up quickly. It truly was a very pleasant experience and the decor was well done. There were 3 of us, we were out for my husband's birthday. He had Fettucine Alfredo, my daughter had Chicken Parm and I had Chicken Francese. We all enjoyed it so much! The portion size was so large I had to bring some home. My husband and daughter had the brownie with ice cream for dessert and both said it was delicious. We'll definitely go back! read more

Our daughter suggested this restaurant for our birthday celebration. I've read the reviews which gave me some doubts. The food was delicious for all six of us. When it came to getting our food in a timely fashion didn't hit the mark. They definitely need to work on that. Place was very busy and packed. It clean and well staffed as far as the dining area. Our server was great. Will definitely go back. read more

Where do I start? The fall decor outside captured my eye and I knew I was going to like this place. We were warmly greeted by the owner, who asked us where we would like to sit (I like that). She was a visitor to our table throughout the evening. The restaurant is SO cozy and what I loved the most was the service. So personal. Talked about the dishes, made recommendations on food and drink. Our server, Olena, mentioned she had only been working there a week, but was excellent! This is the kind of service I leave so many restaurants wishing they had. This is why we will be back. The owner makes an incredible martini. I can honestly say it was the best Gimlet I've ever had. Fresh lime and house made simple syrup. Don't get me started on the Espresso Martini (had to have 2) for dessert. I cannot wait to go back. The food speaks for itself, all home made. Just go. read more

The food here is really good and they treated us really well. I had the lobster ravioli- 10/10 ! My brother ordered me a sangria - delicious!! The service is very friendly and accommodating. Overall, we had a really nice experience. I would love to come back. Great for a date or groups. read more

We returned to Rustic Wheelhouse because our first experience was wonderful. This experience topped our first. Five members of our family were eating dinner at Rustic Wheelhouse. Three of us decided to surprise them by joining them. The five were already seated and had beverages. The three of us who showed up late were willing to sit at a table close by. But waitresses wouldn't have it! They moved tables and our family's beverages to accommodate all of us at one table. They made it feel like it was their honor to have us! It's a rare quality today to make customers feel as welcomed as we did! To take it a step further the three of us who ordered received our food at the same time as the original five who ordered. I'm still awed at their hospitality toward our family. Their menu is full of Italian options from brick oven pizza to chicken Parmesan. The pizza is New York pizza perfection! Sadly I didn't take photos of our pizzas, onion soups, or chicken Parmesan. The restaurant sits on Main Street in Chester. The decor is in the restaurant name- rustic. The restaurant's charm is enhanced by the charm of the staff. Well done! read more

Food was delicious. Service was fantastic. We enjoyed sitting outside and having a late summer lunch.

What a pleasant surprise. We are in town for an event and wanted to find a place for dinner. Reviewed the menu that was online and realized this is a place we needed to go. What a great experience. I had a pasta meal and my husband had a chicken dish. Both were fantastic. Also, have to shout out our server and bartender, Basima. She was amazing! Thanks for taking such good care of us. By the way, this is a very homey place. All the servers seem to enjoy their job and the customers seem to be enjoying their meals. Thanks All! read more

Hubby and I visited on a friday evening. Sat at an empty of patrons but very nice bar with a cozy feel at 7pm. Very personable and knowledgeable bartender Victor who made us feel welcomed and prepared our drinks. The lemon drop i asked for was pleasant albeit a little sweet so i squeezed my lemon garnish in it, then perfection! Hubby had a split bottle of coppola claret though a bit too warm, quickly remedied by Victor with a chill in the ice cooler ready for quick repours. I switched to a prosecco which was served by the glass and not the split.. First time i have ever seen that and cheapened the experience. Noticed mostly families with young children enjoying the pizza. The decor is very rustic reminiscent of a steak and grill place not an Italian restaurant. So... i order stuffed mushrooms, seasoning was good but very wet and steamed tasting and not hot until you cut into them. Hubby had the hot antipasto. The eggplant rollatini in it was divine and i quickly grabbed a bite. The accompaning clams casino and stuffed mussels were seasoned ok wet very wet and as you tried to grab a forkful the clams and mussels were still attached to the shell so the filling goes everywhere. Not pleasant. Next when in Rome...,,,,,so i ordered the margarita pizza. Sliced fresh tomatoes basil and very wet and bland. I was very disappointed since the place is charming but i found the food as unskilled. Understanding what a tough business a restaurant is to manage these days here it feels over managed with cutting corners....... read more

Rustic Wheelhouse - Espresso Martini! - Italian Near Me - Chester, New York

We were caught in a storm on the highway and decided to ditch the highway and grab a bite to eat. We were suppose to drop by the luncheonette nearby but it was closed. We saw people coming in and out of this nearby restaurant so we decided to give it a try. When we came in, there were a bunch of 10-12 years old kids that just finished their lunch party(about 10-12 of them w/some chaperones). This is a descent size restaurant for a small town. I figured about 50-80 seats plus about 8-10 bar stools. I really love the people and the hard wood in the restaurant. I sat looking out the window at the farm behind my husband. It was a gorgeous view. Being stuck in the city/suburb almost all of my life, I dream to be a country bumpkin again in the near future. I love everything country. We had Zach as our waiter. He was very attentive. Must have checked on us 4-5 times when we were having our late lunch. We had the BBQ wings which was moist and tender. We each grabbed a cheeseburger and side of regular fries. They were pretty good. For the sides, they did have waffle, steak and curly fries. We just wanted regular. We had lemonade and Yuengling. There were about 7-8 craft beers available via the keg/draft. I remember they had a stout by Roscoe Brewing Co, some double IPA, Yuengling, Blue Moon and five other choices. There were about 8-9 bottle choices. I remember Flower Power, some Angry Orchard, Coors, etc. I would say a descent choice for a town restaurant. I would come back again for the atmosphere and service. read more

My husband and I had finished seeing a movie in Chester and we wanted to eat somewhere nearby and we came across the Rustic Wheelhouse. We read the prior reviews and decided it give it a try. The place is very unassuming and you'd never think that their food will be so good. My husband had the Thai hanger steak with risotto and it was a great fusion of taste. It was delicious. I decided to try a more traditional meal to compare and had the chicken francese which was one of the bes I have ever had in Orange County, NY. If you ever find yourself in the area...you should definitely should stop in. The service staff was very attentive without being intrusive. Definitely worth the trip. read more

Came with family for dinner. I love the staff here, everyone was so nice and friendly. The location is very unique, walking out basement and amazing backyard view( mountain, Farm, all GREEN and blue sky with clouds), it's a piece of art when you looking out from the windows/doors. The pizza was Amazing ! awesome! fantastic! I need to google to get more words for it. My 7 year old kid finished the whole pie, yup, the Whole personal size Pie! It's so delicious that my little one didn't event want to share with me ( well, she did anyway, lol ). We had Surf and turf, Forgot to take photo, because it smells so good and we started eating without taking photos.
