What a unique place. We loved the background of this restaurant and that they have pictures of what it was beforehand. It was also nice that the waitress was able to answer the questions we had about the building, she knew the history and that really gave it such a quaint feeling. We started with two French onion soups, it was alright, not great but definitely not bad. Although I probably wouldn't order it again. We also ordered the rigatoni bolognese and tortoloni a la vodka with chicken. The bolognese was a suggestion from the waitress and I'm glad she suggested it! The bolognese was delicious, full of flavor and the rigatoni was cooked perfectly. We saw a couple reviews of people who went here after LEGOLand and enjoyed it, so we decided to give it a try. We wound up arriving in between lunch and dinner, so it was quiet. All of our food was delicious, and the servers were very nice. My kids enjoyed it so much they begged us the entire next day at the park to return there for dinner again...so we did! We went a little later the next night, so there were more patrons already there, but the food and service still did not disappoint. The Rustic Wheelhouse will now be a given for where we eat whenever we return to the area. Thank you for a great meal...twice! read more

We went for dinner after our Legoland trip, and this place DOES NOT DISAPPOINT!! The service was amazing, the server and staff were very helpful, and the FOOD. 10/10! This place is so amazing! We traveled to Chester, NY from Long Island for a softball tournament for our 10U team. Not only was the food OUTSTANDING but the staff was amazing. We intended to go with our large group only on Friday but we ended up all going back on Saturday too! They were amazing with our group of 10 year old girls and the best part is that one of the staff members (Debbie) also ended up coming to our games on Sunday to watch the girls!!!! Everything we ordered was fantastic and cooked to perfection. The ambiance was exactly what we were looking for and we also were able to watch the sports games on their TVs in their dining area. Visited on a quiet weekday evening recently and very pleased with our dishes: a melt in your mouth Parmesan crusted cod perfectly cooked served with delicious julienned vegetables and yellow rice, a hearty bolognese, and a delicious chocolate brownie homemade by one of the restaurateurs served with vanilla ice cream. After a trip to Legoland we were hungry. So our cousins were going to meet us there. When we all went in the first thing I saw out the window was a huge farm. The food there was super good! The main dishes also came with a side salad (which isn't mentioned on the menu) which make it an even better value considering how large the entrees are. In town for work, my colleague and I decided to try this place for dinner since it was close to the hotel and we read so many great reviews. The food came out pretty fast, and was good but you could just tell that there was a lot of confusion and it seemed like maybe they were understaffed. We never got an itemized receipt. Also it was uncomfortably warm in the restaurant. Overall the experience wasn't very enjoyable and we didn't feel the customer service lived up to the glowing reviews we read. Perfect spot in a historic town that is located next to a walking trail. Ambiance is pub style, clean and inviting. Our server Zach was warm and friendly and the service was excellent. The food was unbelievable. I eat out all the time and this place was one of the best. We had the white bean soup and French Onion soup. Both were excellent. The onion soup was loaded with good quality cheese and filling! I also had the spinach salad with blackened chicken which was so tender and flavorful. My husband had the Italian bread grilled cheese and said it was out of this world. We were visiting for a wedding but will be sure to keep this place in mind when heading upstate again. This place does not impress from the outside, especially in the dark. It is on what appears to be an old, mostly-vacant Main Street. But it was warm and friendly inside, with rustic charm. Our server was lovely. We really, really enjoyed the pizza we ordered here as an appetizer--simple cheese pizza, done really well. Stopped at Rustic Wheelhouse on our family road trip. We tried the Margarita Pizza and it was by far one of the best pizzas we have had. Nothing better then Wood burning pizza oven!!! They have a great selection of beers on tap and feature unique local beers. Great family owned restaurant. Dessert was great....try the crème brûlée. Never any complaints on a dish but has to be the cheapest owner I've ever experienced in going out to eat in 30 years.. has never once offered us or our son a complimentary anything. It's actually crazy at this point. We've been here many many times and haven't been in a while because of this reason. Again I tip very very well and spend over 100$ each time and always love when you are shown equal appreciation by the business. I've been to places once that was okay and got a free dessert and go back for that reason, because they show you they value your business We won't be back again unfortunately read more

We stopped by on Pizza Friday--a tradition in our household. We were pleasantly surprised. The interior is quaint, with wood paneling. It's obviously a local's restaurant, which, given we just moved to the area, is great. We were seated quickly, and our order was taken quickly. The menu is lovely, well-balanced and not too large. We ordered the grilled watermelon salad, the osso bucco, and a margherita pizza. Everything was, as with the menu, lovely. The osso bucco was fork tender. The pizza had a lovely crust--light, a touch of crispness. I've had much worse pizza in the City. Are there things I'd change? Sure. The service got a bit slow near the end, when they got busy. If memory serves, the wine list just listed the varietal, and not the location or identity of the vineyard. A California chardonnay is quite different than a French chardonnay, and it'd be nice to know what I'm getting. Those are small quibbles. We'll definitely be back. read more

I went to the Rustic Wheelhouse for my birthday. I had no clue it was the old Boodles house until my mom told me. I love how they updated the inside! Our waiter was great, large menu to choose from, and the restaurant was immaculate. The food was delicious but the portions were a little on the small side for the price. The dessert was to die for though!! We all actually enjoyed the dessert more than our meals I think. Hahaha. read more
