My husband and I had a special occasion at La Vera Cucina . We are so happy that we chose La Vera Cucina. The owner, Beka, was outstanding, very hilarious, professional, and whatever you needed, he took care of it. We also rented a flower wall for our special occasion, and we had it set up near the bar area . We are so happy how things turned out. Beka was very understanding, including his employees, and helped us rearrange the room for the gift and prize table . My husband and I decided to do the 2nd party menu package. Everything was very delicious from the bread , with the sauce , the Penna Vodka pasta , salad the entrees, and the dessert. We also appreciated not being rushed out of the restaurant. We all had enough time to do everything. We highly recommend anyone coming here and having your event here and especially just coming here and having lunch or dinner. La Vera Cucina is a pretty nice Italian restaurant. The staff was very friendly and the manager visited our table several times to greet us and ask how our evening was. The Chicken Marsala was tasty and paired nicely with a side of mash potatoes and red wine. The fried Calamari was a little burnt tasting though. The one down side I would say is the slight tobacco smell lingering in the dining room, which came from one of the employees. I probably would not come back because of this. read more

if I could give this place a negative 0 zero I would. we went sat night which happens to have been Valentine's Day. we have never had a worse experience. just to name a few, the service was horrible, 2 waiters ( which happens to be the owners, 2 older gentlemen) for the whole restaurant . running around like chickens without their head. 3 Servers getting bread and water. People were waiting over 2 hours for their meals; walking out of the restaurant, 45 mins to get bread or a drink, people were complaining and when you did complained to staff it up, they acted like nothing was wrong, no apologies or acknowledgement,,,, Small portions , my dinner had no taste-overpriced ; as we were leaving over three hours later, at least 20 people waiting to be seated because they weren't turning the tables over.. ..... we were trying to give Grace because we knew it was a holiday, but it was hard. it was not our first time there, and we have had a similar experience in the past, but not as bad. read more

Added to my list about a year ago. I'm always looking for a good Italian restaurant. I didn't realize it was a converted house, so when I turned on the road, I thought my directions may be wrong. I'm sure all the outside porch dinig is amazing during warmer months.  I was able to dine by the fire. I choose items from the specials menu. Started with baratta with roasted red pepper and prosciutto. The salty grilled and chilled combo was a winner. Next was salad with housemate balsamic vinegarette. The dreasing made it! Thick, creamy and perfect. Very different, in a good way, from normal vinegarette. Any time I go for Italian, I want pasta. The homemade lobster and crab ravioli with vodka sauce and shrimp was delectable! I couldn't tell I was eating a seafood dish at all. AND I got my own bowl of freah grated parmesan cheese. The bottle of wine and complimentary homemade Sambuca also hit the spot. I tasted the canolli but saved most for breakfast. Not too sweet and very light. Service was excellent. Living in the surrounding area fr over 7 years we have always passed the signs to their restaurant which is off the main road in a residential area but we have never visited. It's my wife's birthday and she wanted Italian cuisine, and Italian cuisine we go. We went there midday and ordered off of their lunch specials menu. We both had the veal Marsala which was excellent. The food, service and ambiance was excellent. we were so impressed that we booked the same fireplace side table for Friday night to celebrate our daughters wedding anniversary. We have visited most of the local Warwick NY restaurants and the well known Gr**** Italian restaurant that is fabulous, but I think from a traditional offerings and quality La Vera Cucina wins hands down. it's just fifteen minutes outside of Warwick but well worth the effort to get there. We were treated as guest should be by Beka and our lunch topped off with a refreshing Lemoncello on the house. I would highly recommend this off the beaten path establishment. read more

Delicious Italian cuisine, with over the top warmth made us feel welcome and left us feeling satisfied. We were in town for a family event and we came here for my son's birthday. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. They were patient and kind and were very generous with the bread and olive oil. Our party ordered calamari, angel hair with meat sauce, salmon fettuccini Alfredo (they graciously accommodated replacing the shrimp with salmon), clam linguine, chicken Marsala, a meatball sub, and a special with pasta and seafood (forget what it was called). We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The meatball sub was massive. The calamari was perfectly breaded and fried and wasn't too oily, nicely balanced with seasoning. The pastas were deliciously al dente and the sauces were flavorful without being too heavy. For dessert, we got tiramisu. The staff surprised my son with gelato and sung happy birthday. Not only was the food great, but the service was amazing. We will definitely come back the next time we are in town. read more

My first time at La Vera Cucina's. with my GF. The menu was ok, prices on the higher side. We had an appetizer $15.00 (High$$) clams Oreganata tasteless and extremely small. Our main dishes were $24, and $25 smaller portions just fair at best. Our opinion was we will not go back again. In addition if you use a credit card they charge you a service fee.....with these HIGH prices they have a lot of nerve charging you to use your credit card. Which is typically fine for me but the woman at the front insisted we sit down for a drink, because the bar had no bartender. Clearly they were too short-handed to even serve us. Or we did not take priority because we only wanted a drink. So we sat, and sat, and sat, and sat. And left. I'd like to come back again and give it another shot but the "fun" vibes here are lacking. Decor is a bit outdated but the food definitely makes up for that. We came here for Valentine's Day dinner so the menu may have been slightly different than the normal menu. The stuffed bronzino wasn't really "stuffed." The seafood was on top of the fish but the flavor was excellent. The lamb osso buco could use more seasoning. However, the lamb was cooked to perfection. The only things that bothered me were the manager didn't wear a mask the entire time we were there and was going around hugging customers and the fact that the room you first walk into when you come in the restaurant reeked of cigarettes. read more

This place was overall a great experience! The servers were attentive and friendly and the atmosphere was very relaxed. I felt like I was in someone's home. I came here for a rehearsal dinner, and I really enjoyed it. I would probably come back and try the veal and/or the chicken, because those dishes looked the best. I tried the cheese plate, the bread was a little hard, the salad, pasta- this was amazing!, the salmon and the tiramisu. Their house white wine was really good, too. The cheese plate was pretty large, and had a variety of cheeses, olives and peppers. I really enjoyed this! I don't even like pasta, and I thought the pasta and tomato sauce was scrumptious. The salmon wasn't great - a few other people at my table ordered it, too. We thought it wasn't cooked correctly and tasted really fishy/more like haddock. I really enjoyed the tiramisu and the coffee as well. The ambiance and service was great! And I know other people who ordered other dishes really enjoyed their meal. I had a training class in northern NJ class got out and I was hungry. I was looking for an Italian joint that I never been to before. So I'm looking on Yelp and come to La Vera Cucina. A little out of the way but if I just went home I would have been stuck in a lot of traffic. So I head up there it was about a 30 min ride. There is a sign on the road leading to it. I pull up to the restaurant but looked like someone was living in this house. When I walk in the hostess brings me and my friend to the table. It was early so there was only a group of four at a table. It has a nice old school decor very welcoming. We sit down and they give us some complimentary Italian bread. The bread had a nice crispy crust with a soft middle, but that infused dipping oil they serve you with the bread is so amazing. I got mostly a garlic and roasted red pepper taste from the oil. What ever is in there it's delicious we needed them to bring out more oil. The menu is simple Italian cuisine. We got the veal stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer. For the entrees, I ordered the chicken francese and my friend got the stuffed veal chop. At first sight the portion sizes are very overwhelming. My chicken francese came with two pieces of lightly breaded tender chicken over linguini with the light and tasty buttery wine sauce with a touch of lemon. So simply delicious but made perfect. The tomahawk veal chop was a massive bone in chop. It was stuffed with some spinach and cheese. It was very tasty and succulent. I would definitely get the chicken francese again it's one of the best I've ever had. Needless to say we took home leftovers I finished it it before I went to bed was a nice treat before bed. If your in the area give it a shot. It's very close to the Woodbury commons outlets and way better food then you can get in that food court. read more

Based out of a large Victorian home, La Vera certainly gives a impressive facade....winding driveway, beautiful and articulately decorated porch. Walking inside, you are promptly and cheered up greeted and sat, despite what appeared to be a fully packed restaurant. Very pitching waiter/maitre'd (tall, salt and pepper hair) comes quickly over and suggests several items for dinner. We chose some of the suggestions, but not others. Our waiter took the order and ran over to the waiter computer station to enter it. At 845pm, the waiter comes back to ask what we ordered. Starting to get upset because it appeared nothing was ordered with the kitchen, a fantastic hot antipasto, with the most sublime, tasty and delicate mushrooms I'd ever ate. Baked clams, another winner! Large, with just the right amount of breading. Needed zero lemon juice. A fantastic lobster ravioli, big chunks of meaty lobster wedges inside a heavy cream/Cabonara sauce. Then, the trophy: A Tomahawk steak, broiled medium rare to absolute perfection. If the place wasn't packed, I'd surely pick up the bone and chomp away. It was on par with Peter Luger, it was THAT GOOD!! Complimentary scotch and dessert courtesy of Alex, the proprietor, of a fantastic rainbow cookie CAKE, espresso and fruit rounded out the meal. Local Italian restaurant... Charming decor, but walking up the stairs to the outdoor seating area a very bad strong fish odor greeted us., which made us decide to eat indoors. Becca took us to our table in the front dining area by the fireplace.. the place had a musty smell and the table wasn't set, the chairs were pretty but I sat down and didn't need to worry about spilling any food as my face was so close to the table, Because my chair sunk in. We sat in the corner and from that point on had mediocre service. My cocktail was very good Beer was served warm and asking for a cold glass was impossible by the time we finally got someone the beer was almost finished. Our ceasar salads were delicious but all servers should be retrained not to reach over a guest to serve another. Or pass plates or handing the plate to the guest. There wasn't salt or pepper on our table let alone being offered cracked fresh pepper for the salad. We were enjoying them when halfway through we were served our entrees... The ravioli looked and tasted store bought, the presentation was 5 raviolis that were upside down like it was thrown on the plate and waaayy over priced. No sides were offered with a overprice $26.95 dish Our chicken dishes were not hot at all ... After once again finally getting our servers attention, he took them back . After 10 minutes a different server had our hot entrees but she went to 3 other tables offering our dishes because she didn't know where they were going. As she was about to go back into the main dining room I got her attention and she brought them to us. I had to ask for parmesan cheese as well The cappuccinos were delicious but the carrot cake was not, it had no flavor and over priced at 9.95. We don't mind paying the price for quaity food and service but this was disappointing. We felt the servers were only interested in pushing bottled water and drinks I even called ahead days before and made a reservation. When one of our party canceled I called and spoke to Becca , I mentioned this would be my first time trying this place, he assured me I would enjoy the food after being there for 17 years.... La Vera Cucina is back! It's always been a favorite of our family when it suddenly closed due to a fire we were heartbroken but it's back!! Went last night food was great my only complaint was they garnished the plate with an orchid now I don't know about you but that to me is a complete waste of money. With the prices of eating out these days I'm pretty sure the money used for decoration could be used in a more practical way. Last weekend my sisters, their husbands and myself met for dinner. We were excited to catch up on the family. When the waiter came over we ordered a bottle of wine and appetizers. Later we ordered dinner without salad which seemed to take a rather long time. So long that the waitress came over and refilled my water glass several times. That was followed be coffee and deserts. Now the fun stopped; as we divided up the bill and tip, the owner took our bill away only to return and say our tip was an insult to the waiters who work hard. We reviewed the amount given which was 20% of the bill. We returned the boil without adding a dime and left. Now we are not vindictive in anyway as my family wanted to meet and have fun. My husband and I went to La Vera Cucina to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We had been there before for Valentine's Day and it was lovely but this time was a much different experience. When we first walked in they seated us at a table in the room to the left of the entrance and right away we noticed how warm it was in the room but we figured the a/c would come on but it never did. We saw some employees changing the a/c filter in the room but it made no difference. By the time the entree was served we were melting into our seats. We informed the waitress about the situation but it just got hotter and stuffier as time went by. We finally finished our dinner in the sweat box and walked out of the room through the doors to the exit and a blast of cold air hit us in the face! Why weren't the doors open to let the cold air in?!?! Why weren't we given the option to sit in the area where the a/c actually worked?!?! Horrible.... The food was ok.. my Chicken Marsala was tasteless but the rest of the food was good but not delicious. We probably won't go back as there are so many other options to try. read more
