We tried our End Cut today to celebrate my husband's birthday. What an experience! We booked a bar table for 430pm and it was actually perfect. We were one of the first guests to arrive and we had about a Halle hour to ourselves. We enjoyed our drinks and the food was delicious. The live piano music starting at 6pm was another great addition. We paid a lot more than we normally would for a night out, but from the friendly waitstaff (our main waiter was Joey and he was phenomenal), to the sorbet before the main meal to the hot towels at the end, you're paying for the experience and for the fantastic food. read more

We sat at the bar because we couldn't get a reservation at the time. Our bartender was very attentive even though it was very busy. I ordered the Chicken Parm, which was tasty. The gentleman on the other side of me was wishing he ordered it instead of the Chicken Cordon Bleu. Hubby had the steak. Cooked perfectly. The palate cleanser sorbet was delicious, packed with intense flavor!! Chef/Owner came out to say hi and to see how we were doing. We told him we came for the Sticky Toffee Pudding. First timer here! It came recommended to us and we decided to go for NYE dinner. It was a little busy upon arrival but after a short wait we were seated. Everyone was super nice from our server Brent to Chef Jordan. We started with the warm bread basket with ricotta and honey and the meatballs. Both phenomenal. The meatballs, my goodness , might of the best I've had ever. Flavor on point. Sauce on point. Texture on point. Our entrees consisted of the filet, rib eye, pistachio crusted lamp chips and seared scallops. Everyone enjoyed their meals. For one of the busiest nights , I was impressed. Service is .. terrible.. the kitchen is very disorganized..Seems like they were in the weeds the entire time I was there... and it's not like they were busy for the first hour... Had a reservation at 5 o'clock didn't leave till 8:30 , 3-1/2 hours for a table of six, food is mediocre at most... went with the stuff claims for an appetizer. They were loaded with bread stuffing and hardly any clam,.. no taste, no seasoning ..bland...ordered the Filet Mignon Au-Poivre Rare... it came out well done sent it back and Specifically said rare again.. & came back out ..Ice cold raw in the center... and this too was also bland The sauce had no flavor... did not even have any hints of cognac or shallots it was very bland,...The chef really needs to know how to how to cook and season items properly... and manage the kitchen staff.. I really did not happen to like this restaurant.... for all these reasons... and for the amount of money that was paid for dinner, which was not cheap by the way.. I would not recommend this place .. if everyone says this is a great place to eat . Then so be it ... because this food is swag.. As 2024 comes to a close, I figured I'd change things up. I saved my best meal of the year for my last review. Consistently chosen as the best steakhouse in Ulster County and beyond, End Cut is a cut above the rest (pun intended). But let me tell you why. Starting the meal off with a bowl of mixed nuts seems modest enough at first. Easy to brush off, but as you start to pick up on the attention to detail, you realize this is just the first piece of Chef Jordan's puzzle. The house-made blood orange sorbeto between courses was the next giveaway. Jordan comes out to tend to the roaring fire in between plates, adding wood to the flames that kept us toasty on a chilly night. When the individually sealed mini-glass jars, of Heinz, hit the table, you get it. Nowhere else is doing it like this. You can literally feel the difference while sitting at your table that someone understands ingredients, service, and hospitality. As you leave, you are presented with chunks of chocolate and sent home with a bag of house-made granola for breakfast (11 Madison Park style). You are taken care of from beginning to end and even the next day. After numerous plates of heavy gout-inducing foods, you will tend to feel the burden of your pleasures, but somehow it was a breath of fresh air. Chef Jordan's plates are more like the heavy hitters of the old days, with blue cheese and gorgonzola, mushrooms, and wine reductions. This isn't microgreens and tweezer stuff. I even found the prices to be a breathe of fresh air as my steak was only $42. The bread basket arrives with whipped ricotta and honey to start things off. The brandy gorgonzola shrimp ($18) were the biggest shrimp I've ever seen served in a restaurant. Easily extra-colossal, as I'd guess 6 to a lb. Scallops ($18) and mushrooms with a Gruyère cheese cream sauce were heavenly and heavy. The appetizers were big enough to be an entrée, honestly. Chicken Saltimbocca was so thin I had to dissect it to make sure the prosciutto was even there. Finishing it all off with a sticky toffee bread pudding topped with caramel gelato and a French press of coffee. Nothing geeks me out more as a coffee snob than when I get to press my own coffee at the table. After it was all said and done, we were there for 6hrs! Closing the restaurant down and sitting at the bar for several hours with Jordan discussing the restaurant industry, viral food videos of Tik Tok, and famous chefs. Getting to know him on a personal level and realizing in a lot of ways we are the same. Sometimes, being overly passionate leads to being misunderstood just like Vincent van Gogh. Waited a long time for the scallop app but it is expected for the dish I guess (40 min). It was amazing and filling. Didn't realize the scallops would be so big. Ordered the short rib and after waiting so long and having the scallop app I couldn't eat much of the short rib. Ended up taking it home and having leftovers for a couple days. It was delicious though. They pack it for you. Was a little upset I didn't get any au jus that was with it so left it a little dry. read more

I'll start by saying the food was amazing the breadbasket and ricotta drizzled with honey was incredible! However as our meal progressed we felt incredibly rushed. We were told another party was waiting for our table before 2 of us even received our dessert..it was really uncomfortable..we were not told there was a time " limit". We chose this restaurant for our holiday gathering.. If I had known there was a time limit when I made the reservation I would have chosen somewhere else . This is truly a favorite destination restaurant. We've been coming to this location for years and under different names. End Cut does not disappoint. I really give it 4.5 stars only because my drink, the Boulevadier was bitter. Hubby had the smoked manhattan that was excellent! Otherwise ambiance, food, service by Melissa and cooking by Chef Jordan was amazing! I had the rack of lamb encrusted with horseradish and pistachios cooked perfectly & served over scalloped potatoes with green beans. My hubby truly enjoyed the Surf & turf with mashed potatoes & green beans too. 3 different tasty breads with warm butter. French pressed decaf and I enjoyed the Almond Joy - luscious chocolate & vanilla ice cream coated with coconut & sliced almonds drizzled with thick chocolate and hubby had the fresh Peach Cobbler ! For starters I'm from the area. My family at one time owned a restaurant . This was our first trip to End Cut and was quite nice. Our friends frequently eat there. Let's get a few things straight: It's pricey but most things of value are. Presentation and atmosphere are part of the total experience. The food was exceptional. I mean eyes rolled back in head exceptional . Was it loud? Kind of because people were enjoying themselves. Was parking troublesome ? Well yes it was because it was a Friday night and the place is extremely popular. I'll leave it at this. If you want reasonable food at an affordable price go to a corporately owned chain restaurant . You want a culinary experience that may set you back a few dollars...it will be worth it. read more

Food was ok but for a steak place they didn't cook the right temp. Rare on a medium order. I also ordered Chateu B. For two at $125 for 2 and it was only a filet sliced on a plate and not a roasted loaf as is normal. The two main problems were staff on the bar and staff serving. At the bar we ordered one mixed drink and a beer from their list. They said no CO2 for beers and switched to mixed drinks and they ran out of straws. Bartenders attitude was terrible. We ordered bread at $5 a basket and they cleared the table, took the butter, didn't return for a long time, and were shorthanded and apologized for the poor service ahead of time. No salt and pepper on the table. That apology didn't improve our experience and dampened our desire to return. read more

Amazing! Until it wasn't. We've been wanting to try this place for so long!!! We decided to finally try it when my mother & aunt were visiting from California. Service was surprisingly bad but food was FANTASTIC. Arancini, short ribs, chicken, salmon and Delmonico steak were all outstanding. We had such a fantastic time, until our server: a) told us we had to leave about a minute after we refused dessert. One of us (party of 4) was finishing 2 sips of wine. We had been there less than 2 hours and had reservations. There were 3 open four tops in the small dining area to the right of the entrance where we were sat. What would happen to that reservation if we had ordered dessert? Would they have perhaps been sat at one of the other 3 of 7 empty tables? b) as we were standing up to leave, the only group of 4 we saw were being sat at the open table opposite of us. Out comes our server, yelling to whoever was seating the new guests "Is that the reservation!?" to which basically everyone at the restaurant was startled at and stared awkwardly at her outburst in the middle of dinner service. "Yes", said her coworker. Yikes. It was a very unexpected end to our beautiful meal which left a very bad taste in our mouth. Not sure if this is the usual service expected at End Cut, but sadly, that is definitely the quickest way to ensure we and our future guests, stay away from this spot in the future. read more

First time dinning here. Food was AMAZING! Goes without saying the steak is the best around however I highly recommend the rack of lamb. Your tastebuds will thank you! Had dinner at End Cut Friday night since my boyfriend and I were in the area for the Headless Horseman haunted attraction. There aren't an abundance of restaurants in the area so I called to make a reservation here on a whim a couple weeks prior. I'm glad we had the reservation since they were completely booked that night and were sending away walk-ins. We were seated inside but they also have outdoor tables available for reservation. The menu online is different than what we received when we arrived - I didn't see the pizzas on the menu Friday night, unless that's only for the bar area. We weren't that hungry, so we just ordered a bread basket to start ($2) - sweetened nuts are complimentary when you sit down, not bread. For our mains, I had the veal chop and my bf had the short ribs. The veal was tasty and the short ribs were very tender and good as well. Generous portion sizes. Service was good. This is a hard review to write, reason being is everyone but myself enjoyed their food. First let me say that the ambiance was very nice, lighting was perfect and the piano made it special. The appetizers were okay, the salad wasn't good because whatever dressing they use wasn't good. I ordered the Filet for dinner. I know I'm not in the majority, but I ordered mine pink, no red, medium or medium well whatever that would make it. It came out, I cut into it and it spoke to me. Of course I ask them to cook it more. The chef came out and said (in a not so nice tone) "your steak will be right out). 15 minutes later, everyone almost done with their dinner, a new steak came out (sucks they threw the last one away) and it was still red. The waiter asked me how it was and I said still red. He asked if I wanted it cooked more, I responded no I'll just cook it at my house. They never took it off the bill, not that I was expecting that, just would've been nice. I didn't think this place was worth the money, even if my steak was cooked how I prefer it. To start off, the waiter was great as were the short ribs. The prices were high. If we didn't have a gift card we never would eat here. My husband ordered the Cavetelli with asparagus and creamy pesto sauce. The menu clearly states they don't allow substitutions yet when the dish arrived it had no asparagus. When we asked the waiter he went and asked the chef about it. Apparently the chef can substitute just not the guests. The waiter said he had not been informed that the dish was not as stated on the menu and was apologetic. We were seated right by the piano player which made conversation difficult. I knew this would be the case and as we were being seated asked if we could be moved further away ( we had reservations and it was our 37th anniversary) and we were told this was not possible. All in all, it was an ok experience. Good cocktails, short ribs delicious and tender. Good sized portions but pricy and we were turned off by the spinach for asparagus substitution and the fact that there were many empty tables but they would not let us change where we could sit. read more

Another fantastic dinner at End Cut. Between the warm ambiance , live music and delicious cocktails ( I had the honey bee... a few of them! ) our night was off to a great start! We started with the breadbasket. Love the raisin bread with delicious whipped butter. Next up - coconut shrimp which were sweet and crispy. We then shared the autumn salad which had layers of texture and flavor. I had the filet mignon cooked a perfect medium then came what was my favorite bite of the night.... these incredible scalloped potato's ! No kidding these potato's are addicting!!! End Cut is truly the definition of the word gem. A hidden gem and a precious gem. End Cut doesn't have a website and it doesn't show up on Yelp right away, so I feel quite lucky to have experienced its splendor in my quick trip to New Paltz. What's not to love about this spot? The staff (chef included) is gracious and personable, the food is elegant and wildly tasty, and you really feel like you're getting a special treat when you dine here. When I feel that a place goes above and beyond, five stars is a logical conclusion. And so it was here. I had a good feeling about End Cut a number of hours before walking through its doors. We were in town for lunch and decided to look at some menus before deciding on a restaurant for dinner. Wandering down Church Street, I found myself face to face with End Cut. With it's unassuming exterior, I wasn't sure what to think. But we had heard from our B&B host that End Cut was worth investigating. Long story short, we ended up briefly meeting the chef (who's a personable and clearly talented dude), who, after hearing that we were sent by our host, promised to save us a table at 8pm. And so it was done (look at that parallel structure!). Though we were a little late, the chef followed through on his offer. We were seated at the one spacious booth right next to the kitchen and got to soak in all of the splendor of the restaurant. There's nothing particularly about the interior here, but it sure is cozy. We felt right at home immediately, which was partially due to our fantastic server (and the organization of the dining service in general). This feels like more of a story than a review, but it was just that kind of experience. Now that I have your attention: *cash only*! Upon sitting down, we were given a small cup of deluxe nuts coated in some sort of sugary goodness. Essentially crack cocaine in food form. After this pleasant surprise, I was ready to conquer a serious meal. But first, drinks! NOTE: wine and beer ONLY here. But they've got a nice selection of wines and a handful of top-notch Belgian beer (which is my favorite, so I wasn't complaining in the slightest). Bottles of wine are $25! Pretty good deal, especially compared to what you'd find in NYC. When we were ready to order, our waiter asked what order we wanted our dishes in (we were sharing everything). I go out to eat quite a lot and I almost *never* get asked that, which is a shame. A lot of places just bring things out as they come, but adding this personal touch here was really special. It made the experience here feel more like ours to bask in. Speaking of things that are special, don't decide on your order until you here what the special offerings are that night. End Cut essentially has a whole other menu *just* of specials, and though we only ordered one of those, they all sounded phenomenal. After our little munchies, we were served bread, but with a twist: along with your usual olive oil, you'll receive a pad of ricotta with honey, which was just so dreamy. Go for it. The rest, below: Wild Mushroom Cakes w/ Avocado Puree and Roasted Red Pepper Coulis: A I mean, this is my ideal dish. Mushrooms and avocado are two of my favorite things, and this did not disappoint. Cute preparation, hearty flavors but still pretty healthy--especially as far as cakes goes! Perfect for sharing and a nice option if you don't want to overdo it on meat. Oddly enough, last time I ordered a mushroom dish at an Italian restaurant, it featured red pepper coulis. Despite me not being a huge fan of peppers, the earthy flavor profile really works. Broccoli Rabe and Fresh Mozzarella-stuffed Meatballs: A+ How in the world could these be bad? Stuffing yummy things inside more yummy things is all the rage these days, and for good reason. What could be better than fresh meatballs at an Italian joint? Fresh meatballs that, when broken into, revel extra happiness. A must-order in my book. Special Salad (Pear/Goat Cheese/Arugula/Macadamia Nuts: A A winning combination I've seen hundreds of times. Sometimes going for the tried-and-true option is smart, not boring. It was light and fresh, which nicely balanced out the rest of our appetizer selection, which was a bit heavier (relatively). *Pause for cute amuse bouche: eensy weensy serving of grapefruit sorbet in an eensy weensy cup* Duck in some heavenly sauce: A++ Impeccable. I don't know what else to say. The duck was cooked perfectly and the sweet, rich sauce was utterly divine. Truly a special dish. Very pleased that we had a palette cleanser between our first three dishes and this baby And as if our experience here couldn't get any better, our check came with a miniature platter filled with white, milk and dark chocolate. It was pretty empty, tables aren't socially distanced but they do seat you in a socially distance manner (every other table) Loved the interior decoration, wait staff was great. Outdoor seating is available! I would highly recommend :) I loved their crab cakes, and their NY Strip Steak Their Filet Mignon with Fig had a more savory and sweet taste. We came here on a trip for a long weekend in near by New Paltz for some hiking and outdoor activities from being stuck in the city for the past few months. We came across this restaurant by chance as we were looking for a good restaurant to go to with my mom to have something nice. We drove up to an unassuming roadside restaurant that you would never believe is fine dining. Inside the tables are far apart to keep social distancing as well as outdoor seating with heaters and firepits to keep diners warm. We were seated inside just after the peak of dinner rush and we were relaxing as we ordered a bunch of items from the menu as well as one of the specials. We had the French Onion soup - prepared in the traditional way that was fragrant and delicious, the mushroom cakes which were a trio of mushrooms and made into a cake like patty, and since we all love mushrooms we were excited for the mushroom pizza we ordered as well. Also had the baked clams which was the perfect portion for the 4 of us (came in a set of 4) and they were really good! For the entree we shared (As we had a late lunch) the lamb chops with mashed potatoes and string bean special. We really enjoyed the lamb chops. The cod was flaky and delicious. Lastly the best part of the dishes for me was the mushroom pizza with homemade ricotta. We waited a little extra for this but even after eating everything else we were able to polish off the pizza as the mushroom flavor was delightful. A+ will recommend! read more

Had a delicious filet mignon for my mother's birthday last night. The fig on top was the perfect touch to such a tender and delicious cut. We all shared the burrata special which had fresh tomatoes and a balsamic glaze. My family got the salmon and the mustard crusted cod. All were satisfied and content. A bit confusing, Monday's and Friday's they typically do not serve entrees. Yesterday was an exception, but definitely keep that in mind if you're planning on visiting. read more
