We had an Amazing Dinner & Service at Coppola's in Hyde Park NY- We started off with the Zucchini Sticks, always a great option, followed by Dinner Salads with Gorgonzola and Home Made House Dressing, with a wonderful bread basket with olive oil & pesto, my second half got the Filet Mignon Toscana which was a tender Filet Mignon on bread with Gorgonzola Shiitake Mushrooms a wonderful sauce and a beautiful Fried Onion Nest on Top! Incredible for sure!! With a Baked Potato as his side, I opted for the Penne Ala Vodka which was delicious...NOW let's talk about Dessert, we agreed on the Tiramisu which is Homemade by the Owners 93 1/2 year old Father that comes to the Restaurant every single day, The taste was out of this World!!! We stopped to utilize the charger in the parking lot here at Coppola's. There was a sign on the charger indicating that they offer a discount in the restaurant while charging, which was a nice touch and had us ordering some food to go. There was a short wait at the front stand, and then we got our tasty food. We especially enjoyed the rich, creamy New York style cheesecake. A nice find! read more

The food was fabulous! My veal parmigiana was fresh and delicious. My wife's eggplant dish was outstanding. I ordered a Budweiser and got half a glass of beer. I didn't say anything. OMG! Best Italian food ever!! Went for lunch and ordered the Eggplant Lasagne. Heavenly... The dish was creamy, fresh made noodles, delicious red sauce and fresh cheeses. The yummy bread they served was hot out of the oven. The side salad was perfect with fresh cold vegetables and tasted like homemade croutons. The owner lets dogs in the restaurant. Not a service dog btw. Then the dog owner goes out to her car grabs the dog's bed and bowl.. dog hair flying everywhere as she passed by our table . Margarit was ok, sausage was overcooked. They did make a non-dairy pizza that was good and very accommodating on their part. They put garlic oil in the crust and I'm not a big fan. Came to celebrate nieces birthday on a frigid Friday night and had the place all to ourselves. They have standard appetizers which this time we did not go for. Our entrées all included either soup or salad two people had minestrone soup a third had escarole soup and I had a house salad with ranch dressing. The entrées consisted of gnocchi 2 chicken Parmesan's, and I opted for a special which was chicken and shrimp Forester This had mushrooms medallions of chicken and two large, jumbo shrimp over a bed of creamy risotto. Everybody was very complementary of their choices and we added dessert for the special occasion. Creamy chocolate cake, blueberry cheesecake, and a peanut butter pie for the choices and they were all delicious. It has been a while since we have been to Coppola's and would not hesitate to try them again or recommend them to friends. read more

Coppola's was the restaurant that my husband and I chose to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. The entire process was seamless, from meeting with John to secure and plan the day to enjoying the party. The food was fabulous and our servers were great. We had a buffet and our guest raved about the Filet of sole, stuffed with crab meat and my favorite the Eggplant Rollatinii was perfection. Along with the buffet there were 11 children and they ordered off the children's menu and loved their food. We also had one guest with food restrictions, no problem, she was served food specially prepared for her. I can't say enough about the food, service and ambiance. My family and I went to Coppolas for Sunday brunch and honestly, it was just okay .... We got there at 12:30 and almost every buffet platter was empty. They were slowly refilled but never did we notice the whole buffet filled. The Benedict had a muffin so hard we couldn't cut them, and the hollandaise was solid due to how long it had been out. None of the food was "great" but rather edible ... the server was very nice and checked on us regularly. The restaurant itself felt like it could use a bit of a facelift thought. 5 stars for the old-school ambience. Not so many for the food. It was decent, but nothing was outstanding. Calamari was pretty greasy, the Bolognese sauce was just a meat sauce, not a true Bolognese (many restaurants call their meat sauce a Bolognese sauce). The homemade ravioli were definitely made in-house, very thin pasta. The marinara sauce used on some of our pasta dishes was tasty. Service was really good, our server was helpful and considerate. We had someone at the table who ordered gluten-free pasta and the server took it upon herself to omit the croutons from the side salad. read more

We went to Coppola's for Sunday brunch buffet as it was close to the FDR estate that out out of town guest want to visit. The overall impression was "meh". Not terrible but not great. There was definitely more lunch food than breakfast food. We typically have breakfast first then go back for lunch as a second course. The had an omelet station but the chef making them had barely enough eggs in the pan to cover the pan. That resulted in all of the vegetables (which were barely warm when served) tearing through the eggs. There was all so corned beef hash, bacon (that could have been crispier), and breakfast sausage. To my pleasure they had chafing dish with eggs Benedict with a bowl of hollandaise sauce sitting in front of it. My happiness quickly vanished. The hollandaise was cold and the English muffin was so dried out that I had to ask for steak knife to cut through it. To my surprise there wasn't scrambled eggs nor home fries which are a brunch buffet staple. I asked for toast and was told that "we don't do that". They have a carving station with ham and roast beef amount the lunch foods. Eggplant rollatini, penne ala vodka, backed cod, meatballs, sausage. No vegetables. There was a tossed salad that looked rather sad on the same table as some mini breakfast muffins. There was also a bowl of personal size cold cereal, which was also a surprise. There was a homemade apple cobbler that was toast but could have been firmer. All in all the food was ok at best. What do you want for $25? You get what you pay for. read more

Still my favorite spot in the hudson valley. Love the classic restaurant experience. All the servers are tops. They bring fresh bread, olives to the table. entrees are served with soup and salad. Disappointed. My linguini with white clam sauce was salty and fishy tasting. I have definitely had better and expected better. My girlfriend's calamari marinara was overcooked. The waitress was nice but must have been new because she did not know the menu and did not understand the difference between bleu cheese dressing and bleu cheese crumbles. The experience was made worse by the overly loud individual talking in the booth behind us. It was impossible not yo hear his booming loud voice and in the open small dining room there was no place to escape it. I could not avoid hearing how He was on the autobahn in Germany, drove a Renault, had an issue with his lawn mower among other tales that we had to endure. Outstanding Traditional Italian Cuisine. The menu is a memory lane of every Mom's kitchen in the 1950's. Have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. Came here for the Sunday brunch. The staff was friendly and the coffee was delicious. Apparently BRUNCH was a combination of standard breakfast fare - omelet station, and the. The chafing dishes of sausages? Bacon, eggs Benedict etc. but then also several pasta dishes, mussels marinara and more. The food was all good nothing stood out as either unbelievable but ,more importantly , terrible. I enjoyed it all but being Italian one can't help but compare it to my mothers and even my cooking. The restaurant itself is in need of a facelift. It's not dirty but looks worn. But my biggest concern(complaint) was the deceptive sign the have posted outside. It basically said $8.95lunch special and now Sunday brunch. It sounded like a good deal. No one mentioned when we walked in that brunch price was $25 per person or explained anything about the $8.95 specials. When I asked about lunch all they said was they were serving dinner only in other dining room and that the lunch/brunch was in a different room. No mention again of the price. So we opted for the lunch. I couldn't believe how much was being offered for $8.95 each ( I mean a read the sign outside). And that's because it wasn't. I realized this when the check came. I was annoyed but kept this too myself. How many other customers fall for this? I can't be the only one. For twenty five dollars a piece I could have eaten across the street at the diner and for the two of us spent about the same for breakfast. So, for me, with this probably unintentional deception. Our family had been dining at Coppola's for years but we have not been back to Hyde Park for a long time. Still the same great food and service that we remember! Nice to meet the son of the Mr. Coppola we knew. Another gracious host, just like his father. Only regret: we forgot to bring home a couple of jars of the excellent sauce. John and the staff at Coppola's in Hyde Park did an excellent job hosting a celebration of life lunch for my father in their banquet room. They made everything easy & smooth, from estimating how many would attend, menu choices, room set-up, buffet arrangement. The staff was attentive, polite, and quite prompt to refresh buffet trays when items ran low. They made us feel welcome, and well supported, but never rushed or any sense of drama or stress. The food was exactly as ordered, and received well by all who attended. It was a totally appropriate and professional experience from start to finish, in their charming (admittedly old school) restaurant. On a very difficult day, with a lot of funeral details and grief, they made things easy. That helped us all finish the day with a positive and uplifting time for close friends and family. Was recently in town for a funeral and someone had ordered a large pan of lasagna and had it sent to the widow and family. Although it was a really nice gesture and was appreciated. When I saw the tin from Coppolas I thought that must be something good in there but was disappointed at the amount of ricotta cheese. Way too much and the whole thing wasn't layered properly. My portion was mostly noodles and sauce. Coppola's was a favotite when I lived in Hyde Park, 30 years ago. I will try again next time I'm in town. read more

Heard wonderful things about this establishment so decided to try it out for date night with my hubby. All is going well service was great My husband and I happened to be a biracial couple and the server was amazing we got to talking and turns out she also has biracial children so we had lots in common and lots to talk about that is until we were leaving after we had paid and overheard her talking on the phone where she thought she was in private saying that she was set or table because someone there hates her and knows that black people don't tip. To say that we are humiliated embarrassed confused and hurt are all understatements. I will definitely be trying to get a hold of the owner of this establishment to report this because this is unacceptable so I advise anyone thinking of going to this restaurant stay away from the waitress with tattoos all over her face that looks like she just got out of prison we don't usually judge and we thought she was wonderful but turns out looks were not deceiving this time around read more

At $25/pp, it's a total ripoff --we were mislead by the "$8.99 lunch special" which we confused as the price of brunch. The dining room smelled of age and the carpet looked like it needed a good shampooing. Chose this place because we live close and I had driven by a couple times. Never too busy but seemed busy enough that maybe it was a locals type thing since I go to one of the university's. First started with the bread sticks which where they had dried and caked on garlic butter and the next course was salad. As the nice and courteous server brought out the salad I could see from a distance the wilting lettuce and veg. Upon closer inspection I was correct. The tomato was room temperature and the bell pepper had discoloration all along the cut veg. The raspberry vinaigrette was like the Exon Valdez dumped into it. Oil was all I could taste. The polite server took that away and then eventually our main dishes came out. I'll describe those below. My dish was the baked pene. When the plate landed I could already see the pasta had been mixed and plated and just put in a broiler. It was a literal slice of cheese barely melted on top with a and I'm not even kidding here, half slice of cheese right next to it melted. The taste was bland and I immediately stopped eating. Next dish was the chicken Alfredo. The Alfredo sauce had the constancy of melted vanilla ice cream while also having the worst and old tasting chicken I had ever had. A quick taste of the noodles had a weird squid like after taste which was immediately spit out. Last dish was the lasagna, simple right? Impossible to mess up? I thought so too. They did what I could only describe as an open faced sandwich plating in which they cut it in half and plated it oddly and wrong. It's lasagna. Don't reinvent the wheel here. Taste was also similar to the pene with bland and flavorless. The redemption here was our server was quite polite until the owner came out and literally snatched my plate away while saying he was going to take care of it. While I didn't have to pay for any of the meals I didn't appreciate his attitude. Which is why I'm here now. If you read this, this is for you. You have a restaurant right next to the best culinary institute in the world. How you don't utilize that is beyond me. You're in the hospitality business, once you saw our plates you should of been ashamed you let that get off Your line. Also. Your bruschetta was good, but cut back on your oil by at least half the amount your chef used today. read more

Had to reschedule a rehearsal dinner for 30 sort of "last minute" when another place closed. We were very pleased with the whole event. Pleasant and efficient server, a very nice antipasto type salad, our choices....eggplant, stuffed sole, or chicken marsala, and a mixed vegetable for the table. I had the fish and it was very good. Others commented on how tasty their choices were. We all raved about the mixed vegetable too! We all had ice cream for dessert. The price included gratuity and was reasonable. This all worked out for the best for us and we had no regrets with our decision. If you're planning for a large group....don't rule out Coppola's! read more

Awful. An overpriced Sunday brunch featuring some of the worst food ever. Salty sausages, an unrecognizable eggplant rolatini, "broiled" overcooked salmon that tasted like cardboard. From the dessert tray filled with cupcakes that looked right out of Stop and Shop to the 1970's decor (right down to what May have been the original rug) this place is a must to avoid. read more

I've only been here once for Sunday brunch and was very happy with the selection and quality of food. We caught the tail end of the buffet and really went to town! The selection was impressive!
