Had dinner here and loved it. Small but comfortable space with low lighting. I had a great time and I especially loved the food, it was fresh and delicious. Drinks were strong My server was so lovely too.

    Lasagna

As a first stop on our vacation for dinner, this quaint restaurant did not disappoint. The complementary bread is accompanied with marinated eggplant, red peppers, and Parmesan cheese. It is delicious. The lasagna and the pork chop were our choices and very tasty. I recommend sitting outside if the weather is nice because it is really pretty.

Wish I had a "before" pic. Our initial visit the dish was off the hook. THIS was a congealed, disgusting mess. Obviously not fresh.

We received a gift card here for Christmas. We put off going due to the long list of crash and burn restaurants that have previously occupied this beautiful space. We are sorry we did. The place is charming, in an old bank from the last century (perhaps 2 centuries). It has a very comforting feel aesthetically, but it is very tight, and loud from the bar area (which doesn't bother us). Our waiter was Dave, who was very attentive, polite and knowledgeable. The food is off-the-hook. Every course was delectable. Most places provide some bread and dipping sauce or oil. These guys roll out an antipasto on the house that will knock your socks off! My wife doesn't eat bread or processed meats, but even she imbibed in the feast. I ordered the long stemmed artichoke appetizer, which absolutely blew me away. So tender, buttery, flavorful and delicate. For an entree I had the chicken parm, which i usually use as a barometer for any new Italian restaurant. Absolutely fantastic! Two huge cooked to perfection pieces of chicken that were scrumptious. When we were paying the bill, Dave (I hope I got the name right) provided a delicious assortment of complimentary fruit, as well as two shots of sambuca. Bottom line is the place is off the hook, and we will DEFINITELY be back!!! Only ONE complaint, and it did not involve us, but did look problematic....a seat in the vicinity of the kitchen and bathroom occupied by a couple continuously had staff rubbing up against them as there was hardly any room to pass between tables, they had to practically stand on their toes to squeeze through without rubbing against them. Avoid that one seat and you have a keeper of fine Italian dining! ******edit 3/4/2018***** We SO wanted this to be our next local favorite, given the wonderful experience described above (8 days ago). As any of the staff at Painters Tavern across the street will testify, we are as loyal and as generous a customer can be (been going there every week for 30 years). We started off on the right foot, with the same delicious on-the-house antipasto. Things declined with my appetizer, the above mentioned long stemmed artichokes. They resembled NOTHING what I ate last week. The before mentioned tender, buttery and delicate was tonight congealed and rubbery (as if having sat in a refrigerator overnight). It's was also swimming in cheese, which was absent from last week (perhaps a masking technique as the artichokes were clearly wilted). My wife ordered for her dinner the house salad with grilled chicken and the dressing (some sort of balsamic) on the side. The waiter asked ok, the Caesar salad with chicken? We said, no, house salad, grilled chicken, dressing on the side. No pen or paper to take down this complicated order. This is when we became PO'd. What my wife received was a Caesar salad with chicken. The waiter apologized and removed the (wrong) order. When the (what we thought) correct order arrived, it was a house salad with chicken. Except the chicken was OBVIOUSLY from the previous dish. It was cold, and LOADED with Caesar dressing (which doesn't exactly go with balsamic). When this was brought to the attention of the waiter, they tried a THIRD time to make a simple order the right way. We said no thanks, and asked for the bill. My wife was visibly upset, as she did not have anything to eat the entire time. Whoever the bartender is at this establishment, he seems to be the only professional in the place, HE came over to the table to inquire if everything was ok. Then the shock of the bill. I understand businesses do not make money giving food/drinks away........that being said, we each had two drinks, I had an appetizer and an entree. They deleted the cost of the salad (which my wife never received). Eighty one dollars. Eighty one dollars. Could have been a lot easier to swallow had they taken ONE drink off the bill in good faith. Nothing. Zip. Bare in mind my wife had nothing to eat. On our way out the door, the bartender seemed concerned at our situation. Our advice, find a business suiting your skill set....you're wasting your professionalism on a losing establishment. Oh, and perhaps the waiters should invest in pen/paper. This whole debacle probably could have been averted had it not been for bad memory. Five stars to one star (one week). Won't be back. Shame.

We went for a late lunch and were pleasantly surprised by how attentive the service was. The setting alone is quiet, scenic, and relaxing, adding to the experience feeling special. We're particular about cocktails, and the specialty drinks leaned a bit sweet and light for our taste, but switching to a Grey Goose martini solved that quickly. The standout of the meal was the special appetizer, the Lobster Escargot. Between the bread service and the rich, bisque-like sauce layered over the classic preparation, I could have happily ended the meal right there. We left no trace behind. I followed with the crab cake and wedge salad. The crab cake was generously sized, very fresh, and exactly what I hoped for. My husband ordered the branzino, which was absolute perfection, beautifully cooked and full of flavor. The sides, however, were less memorable; the smashed potatoes and green beans felt under-seasoned and a bit boring compared to the rest of the meal. Overall, it was a lovely anniversary lunch with memorable dishes and a beautiful view.

On a trip to Colorado, Kihlmire visited a shop that featured an abundance of books and records. He came up with an idea to open a similar shop that would also feature craft beer. Kihlmire initially opened The Vinyl Room by himself in Wappingers Falls. In addition to beer, records, and video games, customers could also enjoy pizza by ordering it through a special window that connected to the Wagon Wheel next door. Although the concept was well-received, the small space and constraints from the landlord limited the full potential of the business. In July 2021, it moved to a new space at 344 Main Street in Beacon. Customers could order food from Roma Nova across the street. Unfortunately, the space was still too small and the owners received numerous noise complaints from apartment tenants upstairs. In August 2023, The Vinyl Room moved down the street to 393 Main Street to their third (and hopefully forever) location. For the latest version of the business, childhood friend Kane Licari came on board as a partner. This also marks the first time that The Vinyl Room features a kitchen with their own food. The menu features burgers, sandwiches, wraps, salads, rice bowls, tacos, wings, and various bar bites. In addition to craft beer, the bar also serves wine, craft cocktails, and mocktails. I recently visited The Vinyl Room for lunch with my two sons while we were visiting Beacon. Any place that features craft beer, records, and classic arcade cabinets sounds like Heaven to someone like me. I really liked the whole vibe of the interior with the industrial design and all of the pop culture and music references. My sons and I grabbed a booth and looked over the menu. For food, I had the "Crunchy Chicken Bowl" (sushi rice, pickled onions, avocado, arugula, charred corn, chili garlic crunch, creamy garlic sauce), my older son had the "Grilled Cheese" (Vermont white cheddar, havarti, slow roasted onions, roasted garlic butter, sourdough), and my younger son had the "Return of The Mac" (smoked gouda Vermont cheddar cream, buttery breadcrumbs). We were all very happy with our choices! To drink, I had a draught pour of Upward Brewing's "Summer Camp" (Helles Lager). After finishing our delicious meal, I scrolled through the impressive record collection. Then we all headed downstairs to have a blast in the arcade. Before leaving, I enjoyed a pour of Equilibrium Brewery's "Tidal Balance" (Double IPA; collab w/ Sand City Brewing). We all had such a fun experience at The Vinyl Room and we hope to return in the future!

We went around 5pm, and saw the sign "Seat Yourself & Order At The Bar". Ok... So I asked a bartender for 2 menus, and found a booth. We decided quickly, and I made my way to the bar. Others were ahead of me, so I patiently waited to order: Tripple Smash Burger, Honey Buffalo Salad, Purple Rain (2), Diet Coke. I paid at the bar, served the drinks and waited for our food. The music was 80's MTV Themed {Pat Benatar, Bon Jovi, Bruuuce, Billy Idol}. Jenga, Horrible Couple and Cards Against Humanity were on the tables to pass the time. Or flip through the many records available for purchase until the food arrives. The salad was large in size and very good. Been a while since I had a burger, and this filled the void. Fries were not that hot, but we ate them anyway. Afterwards, we went downstairs and played some old school arcade games and then headed out. Upon leaving we saw someone was having a birthday party, which was nice to see. I'm sure in the summer this place gets packed. They also have a selection of draught beer (The proper way to spell it). Good choice for food, although it wasn't cheap. Bill w/tip was $100. I think having a server on staff for all hours would be a good decision for TVR to make, in order to TCB !

So I was excited when we finally got a chance to try it. And here is where it may have been my fault, maybe I hyped it up too much. So the funny thing when we arrived at the restaurant and I saw another friend. She told me it was her first time and it wasn't good (this was a warning!) she said especially the chicken and waffles. So again maybe it's my fault because I didn't listen. My heart was set on the chicken and waffles and she was right. It was not good. Like how do you mess up chicken and waffles? It was lacking all types of flavor. It was bad. Why 3 stars than? Because their Spicy Pork Congee was amazing! It's an Asian rice dish and everything that lacked flavor in the chicken and waffles was made up in this dish. The problem? This is only an appetizer. It needs to be an entree, which would mean making it a larger portion. It was fantastic! They also had a decent beer selection which we got. The inside of the restaurant is cute. It has so much potential I just think maybe a revamp of the recipes. But maybe another dish would be good. We came for brunch so I don't know how their dinner menu is. I will probably give them another chance because how amazing the congee was I know they have potential to be great.
