Sicilian slice big enough to share and a "regular slice" (for anyone outside of New York. That means a cheese slice.)

This is the closest experience in Dutchess County to pizza I had in the Bronx growing up. Generous foldable slices that you can, add your favorite seasonings. Today I took the pepper flakes and a dash of Parmesan. I took go order is a generous slice Sicilian traditional, deep dish focaccia with a great balance of sauce and cheese. Ambience, here is classic NY pizza shop- a few small tables crammed into tiny space made to eat and run. The other side of the building houses there sit down restaurant where you can get more traditional entrées, etc. But a little trick if you don't mind sitting the little tables in the pizzeria is to order your meal had a bit of a discount or take it to go.

First time here,my niece's wedding rehearsal dinner was held here. The outside signage and awning looks outdated, if I were to go by here I don't think I would go in. So once inside we greeted cheerfully by the hostess. The restaurant inside was divided into 3 separate sections. Our wedding rehearsal dinner,a surprise party for someone else and the 3rd section was an overlapping of our group and people just coming in for a Friday night out. Our server was extremely friendly and was well trained to handle such a large party(60-70people)we were given a choice of each chicken entree and fish entree. I selected the chicken Marsala it was an excellent choice. My daughters did the chicken Parmesan they said it was delicious and the fish (Grouper) in a butter sauce was delicious also. The cocktails are fantastic and strong, no skimping on the alcohol. I can truly say the Longobardi's restaurant is worth a try.

We went there for a Valentine's Day dinner, in the main dining room. Wood paneling, soft lighting, and romantic music that's not too loud. They had a special Valentine's Day menu; there were heart-shaped raviolis, stuffed artichokes, and other specials. Our server, Isabelle, was very professional and attentive without being obsequious. Just out of curiosity, I asked if they had risotto? Isabelle said she would check with the kitchen, she came back a few minutes later, and said "yes they do." I was surprised! I haven't found too many places that even know what it is, let alone make it properly. I asked, what would they have with it? She made a couple of suggestions and I went with the shrimp scampi on top. My S. O. ordered the veal francaise with sautéed spinach with garlic and oil as a side dish. Both come with a side salad with a balanced vinaigrette dressing. It was one of the best meals we've had in a long time! We wished we had the appetites we had years ago. It was a little too much for us. The veal Francaise was so tender you didn't need a knife. The risotto was perfect! Nor was the shrimp overcooked. Our meal was perfect, the dining room is conducive to sitting while savoring your food. It made our Valentine's Day celebration special! If you're in Wappingers Falls, it's worth stopping in for dinner Everything is impeccable; from the white tablecloths, to the presentation, and the waitstaff.

I ordered the gnocchi with sausage, and unfortunately I don't love it since the gnocchi was overcooked / the ratio of gnocchi to sausage was uneven. But I would def recommend the hush puppies and General Tso's cauliflower for appetizers, as well as the cast iron s'mores cookie for dessert.

FOOD: 3.5/5 WHY? Good quality ingredients but inconsistent execution. For example, my poppyseed cinnamon bun was presented in one of those cute cast iron skillets but the bun was ice cold, dry, and not failed to deliver comfort food vibes. I suspect that the dish was originally cooked in the skillet and drowned in a creamy cream cheese frosting. THAT would score high. Unfortunately, the little pan was a real let down- almost like a bait and switch. Management-- if you want to take a shortcut, just serve the bun on a plate. Other dishes delivered on presentation, but failed on practicality. Example- The Flatbread which is topped with beautifully cooked fried eggs was served on a board with no side plate so the egg yolk ran unto the table-embarrassing. This brings me to SERVICE. Kevin was pleasant buy not efficient- we had to ask for plates, were not offered coffee or tea for a brunch service. And one of our group of 4 ppl received her entree at least 5 minutes after the rest of us- Our food got cold waiting for the missing entree. No excuse for that with a near-empty dining room. Would I return? Yes. With lower expectations

After checking with his sources, he recommended I try Obercreek, which was a short drive from where we were staying. The great news about Obercreek is that they're a very small craft brewery located on a farm and their focus on small batches keeps everything fresh. The flip side is that their hours are short. I had hoped to get there on Tuesday or Wednesday of my short trip and put my feet up, but their only hours when I was in town were from 4 to 7 on Thursday, and they only sell traditional cans on Fridays. I understand that they sell out their cans pretty much right away. I say all of this just to make sure that you do your homework before heading to the brewery, but you should head there. The beer is very good. The consumer-facing parts of the business are on the far side of a working farm, and consist of a small tap room with some seating and an outside tent-covered seating area. There were some other surrounding structures. I assume that's where they make the beer. They have a few beers on tap. I tried 6 oz pours of an IPA called Celebrity, a DIPA called Passports and a Coffee Stout called French Press, which was made with -- get this -- Pappy Van Winkle coffee beans. All of these beers were very good, and the Celebrity, made with Garston Nelson hops was on par with my favorite New England IPA's, including from the most beloved breweries like Treehouse, Trillium, Etc. Given my family's plans and the limited hours, I did not get to stay as long as I would have liked. The good news is, while Obercreek does not have cans on Thursdays, they do have 32 oz can-like crowlers instead of growlers. So I was able to get a 32 oz of Celebrity to go. I have to shout the service. The person who helped me was invested in the business (perhaps an owner?) and very knowledgeable about their beer and beer in general. He was also very welcoming. He mentioned that they will be relocating to the part of the farm that is more accessible to main roads and the train stop. Sounds like this will likely increase the number of people visiting and perhaps the facilities will be larger and more elaborate as well. 5 Stars. Obercreek is a young brewery that's clearly going places. Make a note.

At about 6:10 we were seated, with menus. At about 6:15 a bowl of chips were brought over, and that was the last we saw of our server. We saw people seated after us getting their drinks and food, paying their bill and leaving. And several tables turn over. We kept trying to catch the eye of any one of the wait staff running around, but they looked the other way. By 7:15, and 1 1/4 hours after being seated, we still hadn't ordered! We got up and left, informing the waitress that more than an hour after arrival, we never got to order. The food is terrific here, but there are plenty of good mexican restaurants where we would not be treated so shabbily. We never even had water brought to the table. Do better. We drove around looking for somewhere else to eat, but every place was packed. We ended up at an Indian restaurant, Tanjore (great place), in Fishkill where we finally had dinner at 8. 2 hours after arriving at Azteca and not being served.
