WE WILL NEVER GO TO LONGOBARDI'S AGAIN. Milanese Restaurant in Poughkeepsie and Stefano's Restaurant in Fishkill are very good Italian restaurants. Consider them as better choices if you're up for Italian, instead of the under-new-ownership Longobardi's. Longobardi's used to be our favorite restaurant when Claudio owned it. I've thrown six sizable parties there over the years - a wedding rehearsal, a baby shower, a retirement party, and three special birthday parties. In total, well over $12,000 for the parties, along with many thousands of dollars over the several decades of going there with just my husband, or with family and friends, about once a month. We loved the food and Claudio, and how he ran his restaurant. The new owner - not so much! Today, Father's Day, June 21, 2026, we chose to go to Longobardi's because that is where one of our grandsons loves to order pizza. The adults, of course, planned to order from the regular menu. We were not surprised to see "THE HOLIDAY MENU" with unacceptably increased prices. That's the norm on a holiday, even Father's Day. It is what it is. What we were very surprised at is that the new owner and manager REFUSED to let our little, sweet, very well-behaved, grandson order pizza because it was not on "The Holiday Menu." Mind you, their attached SAME KITCHEN pizza parlor was making pizzas to go, as we sat at the dining table. Our daughter decided to go to that counter in the back of the restaurant, order the little guy his pizza and bring it back to the dining table. Longobardi's new owner/manager REFUSED, REFUSED, HEELS DUG IN, to let our daughter bring the little guy's pizza to our family table in the dining room, on Father's Day, a family holiday, at an Italian family restaurant, with a pizza parlor. REFUSED, no matter how sweet and kind we were. They told her she either had to take the pizza to go, or the little guy had to eat his pizza in the pizza parlor with her, rather than with the rest of the family and his Pop, on Father's Day. It brought her to tears. So the manager, after she and the pizza guy brought her to tears with this irrational business decision, ruining the Father's Day dinner said, "We'll, I guess I could bring the pizza to him one piece at a time, but I'll have to sneak it in, because I already told another table with children, near your table, that they could not order pizza today." This was too little, too late for our daughter and our grandson. Tears, and not a fond memory. The unacceptable behavior and crazy-wired decisions of the manager/owner had already caused unnecessary customer stress and hurt. Really bad marketing and business decisions on the new owner's part. Claudio would have never forced a grandchild to not be able to eat his pizza with his Pop on Father's Day. This arrogant, thinks-he-knows-it-all new owner basically ruined Father's Day dinner for the family, in the interest of his personal greed. Note, he did the same thing to two other tables near our table, which had several lovely, sweet, well-behaved children. This is certainly not the way to do business with families, on a family holiday, in a family restaurant with a working pizza parlor connected and sharing the same kitchen. The new owner thought he was making a shrewd money making decision to force people to order the expensive items on "The Holiday Menu," in the interest of greed. Greed never works in the long run. He shot himself in the foot. He lost six customers of many decades at our table. We will never recommend Longobardi's again. Many of our friends who have frequented there for decades were heartbroken to hear this story, and will stop supporting that business. Several friends from different friend circles warned us not to go there based on their own and different stories with the new owner, but we decided to give the new ownership a chance, and form our own decision. Should have listened. I'm happy for Claudio that he was able to sell his business and was able to retire; he so deserves it. As for the community - the heart in this restaurant retired with Claudio. Next up, give Milanese in Poughkeepsie or Stefano's in Fishkill a try before going to the under-new-ownership Longobardi's. read more

There's been some mixed reviews from Longobardi's lately. In the mid 2000s it was one of my go to Italian restaurants, but after about 2015, as newer better Italian joints opened (Stephanos), etc. I stopped going. Was here recently for a group outing and while the food was mostly good, it doesn't rise to the level of other local Italian restaurants. Service was slow which is fine, but it seemed they just didn't have enough staff on hand to handle the pre-booked parties. Which was odd. Antipasto was great, and calamari was pretty good. But it is that attention to detail that separates a 3 from a 5 in restaurant land. Bread was meh, and dressing on the salad was weak. And while the calamari was pretty good probably 30 percent of the pieces were pretty soggy. Also the chicken marsala had great sauce but clearly reheated chicken. Now other Italian restauarants locally are guilty of that (recently seen at Stephano's and all the time at Pizza Village) but that alone isn't going to get you a 5 in my book. Reheated chicken has a different taste. Anyway, the review is a 3. Would I come back for a group outing again? Sure. Would I try to dissuade a small group from going here? Yes. It would be nice if the new owner updated the website to reflect all the menus with prices. This has not been done in a long time. As a long time customer I would like to see the menus. The menus on your web site are extremely out dated. Pricing would be nice as well. I will return to your establishment when these issues have been addressed. If not so long. This is the closest experience in Dutchess County to pizza I had in the Bronx growing up. Generous foldable slices that you can, add your favorite seasonings. Today I took the pepper flakes and a dash of Parmesan. I took go order is a generous slice Sicilian traditional, deep dish focaccia with a great balance of sauce and cheese. Ambience, here is classic NY pizza shop- a few small tables crammed into tiny space made to eat and run. The other side of the building houses there sit down restaurant where you can get more traditional entrées, etc. But a little trick if you don't mind sitting the little tables in the pizzeria is to order your meal had a bit of a discount or take it to go. read more

About the best thing I could say about this place is :I wish we had a restaurant/pizzeria like this one in our neighborhood! My in-laws live in the area and we ordered pizza here quite a few times and had a couple of sit-down dinners and were never disappointed. This is an old-fashioned, Italian establishment with outstanding food and service. The pizza is absolutely perfect for my taste. If it was closer, I'd be there at least once a week! First time here,my niece's wedding rehearsal dinner was held here. The outside signage and awning looks outdated, if I were to go by here I don't think I would go in. So once inside we greeted cheerfully by the hostess. The restaurant inside was divided into 3 separate sections. Our wedding rehearsal dinner,a surprise party for someone else and the 3rd section was an overlapping of our group and people just coming in for a Friday night out. Our server was extremely friendly and was well trained to handle such a large party(60-70people)we were given a choice of each chicken entree and fish entree. I selected the chicken Marsala it was an excellent choice. My daughters did the chicken Parmesan they said it was delicious and the fish (Grouper) in a butter sauce was delicious also. We went there for a Valentine's Day dinner, in the main dining room. Wood paneling, soft lighting, and romantic music that's not too loud. They had a special Valentine's Day menu; there were heart-shaped raviolis, stuffed artichokes, and other specials. Our server, Isabelle, was very professional and attentive without being obsequious. Just out of curiosity, I asked if they had risotto? Isabelle said she would check with the kitchen, she came back a few minutes later, and said "yes they do." I was surprised! I haven't found too many places that even know what it is, let alone make it properly. I asked, what would they have with it? She made a couple of suggestions and I went with the shrimp scampi on top. My S. O. ordered the veal francaise with sautéed spinach with garlic and oil as a side dish. Both come with a side salad with a balanced vinaigrette dressing. It was one of the best meals we've had in a long time! We wished we had the appetites we had years ago. It was a little too much for us. The veal Francaise was so tender you didn't need a knife. The risotto was perfect! Nor was the shrimp overcooked. Our meal was perfect, the dining room is conducive to sitting while savoring your food. It made our Valentine's Day celebration special! Been going to Longobardi's since early 70's, the better pizza around the town. One of the few if only that use fresh mushrooms and fresh garlic on the pizza, not canned. Picked up a pizza recently and still the same, fresh toppings, maybe a slight different taste in the sauce, but still a great pie. The Stromboli was delicious with sausage and peppers along with sauce. Some different faces but still some very familiar. My one suggestion would be when taking a phone in order you may want to repeat the order before ending call. Will be back soon to try a sit down meal, got to give all these new people a chance. Came here for a funeral luncheon a few times this year. The service was fast and efficient. Food was delicious and generous portions. I didn't like how in order to get to the dining room we had to go through the kitchen. Also, the outside look of this restaurant could be improved. It looks uninviting and needs an update. read more

Service and food has always been great and a good experience. But the management has changed for the worst, I think the ownership changed but the people I would talk to were great and helped me a ton until now. I haven't seen or recognized the same people and I've been treated more like just money coming in than an actual loyal customer. New owner didn't do much compared to the last person working the phone and I'm concerned about the quality of takeout and in person dining. My boyfriend picked us up takeout around 4:00 pm today. We ordered a meatball parm wedge which was disgustingly soggy, extra crispy wings which were soggy and greasy didn't eat them after I had the first one. They were soggy and greasy. French fries which were actually pretty good. Honestly have been coming back with several disappointing meals but thought this time would be better. We live across the street from here and picked up our food within 5-8 minutes. We have now deleted their phone number from our phone and won't be returning. This place used to be amazing. I have been attending this establishment for over a decade and I have always loved the owner and his staff. They have always been more then exceptional when the past owner Claudio was still running the place . However since the new ownership I feel a shift in there as I a regular I go there because of the staff and family oriented feel . The new management must not be sticking to the old owners set up. The food has been tasting different twice and the atmosphere there is noticeably different. I won't be going back there after getting the same dish I always get except tasted much more different and not "GOOD" . I was always taught if its not broken dont fix it but I feel that these new owners are going to ruin this well established restaurant within a year. So sad to see this restaurant going to shit. I ordered a grilled chicken sub with mozzarella and roasted red peppers and vinaigrette and I got a cold sub with no mozzarella and it was cold! The pizza looked like crap. Guy in the front was rude. This restaurant is the best Italian restaurant in the Hudson valley. The food is as good as BAyridge Brooklyn ponte vecchio. Now that saying something. I have tried all the rest. This is the best. Everything is humming at this restaurant. One key is the lack of turnover of the staff. Consistently great service, always great Southern Italian food. Anyone who gives this less than 5 stars simply doesn't understand Southern Italian cuisine. I will admit that some of the forays into Northern Italian cuisine do not match the outstanding red and white dishes of Southern Italian cuisine but that's my preference. The food was top shelf, especially the red sauce and the ambience wasn't bad either my go to Italian Restaurant however took my wife there the other day for lunch. Boy was I ever disappointed. Hostess was more interested being on her phone than greeting customers. Gave us the wrong menus And seated us. I'll waiter was more concerned about getting tips from some of the more wealthy older women diners, then serving food. Had an excellent late lunch this past week. The staff attention is impeccable. Don't let the exterior dim your experience. After a few (probably too many) questions about items on the menu, I settled on the chicken francese with aioli linguine opting for the pasta fagioli instead of salad. The soup was more bowl than cup but I had no problem as it was delicious and offered with grated cheese. Only difference was the pasta - short pieces of spaghetti perhaps versus ditalini. I may adopt this next time I make it at home and, I suppose, could vary based on the pasta they have on hand. I like a little randomness in a menu. The main course was also perfect and reheated nicely as I couldn't possibly finish it all. Of course I saved room for the pistachio tartufo which was a fabulous way to complete my taste of Italy. There are plenty of good Italian restaurants in the Hudson Valley that really can give you the taste of visiting overseas, but there is something special about the staff here and the attention given to the white cloth on the table and the piping hot meal delivered with a smile that will make a trip to this restaurant worth it. I must add that we spent a few hours here and never felt rushed- much as experienced overseas which is lovely and welcome these days. We will be sure to return when we are back in the area. I've been buying eggplant sandwiches there for many, MANY years and I was completely thrown when I went in to pick up my order and it was 14 dollars!!! NYC charges less for an eggplant sub!! As much as I have loved their eggplant, I will never return. They're crazy to charge these prices!!! P.S. Their pizza is inferior and of course, ridiculously priced. Normally I would say $23 for chicken marsala is wack but when I get a choice of soup or salad and then my entree comes with 3 massive pieces of chicken and a side of the most sensual, mouthwatering garlic broccoli.. Have been here a few times for lunch and dinner and I have to say each time I've been here it hasn't been that great. Last year we went to a Christmas dinner party here and the food wasn't that great. This year the Christmas dinner was at Longobardi's again and the only thing enjoyable was the fresh salad. The soda had black things floating in it. I asked the waitress for a new soda and she said it's going to be in all of them. It was "crystallized sugar". I said sugar is not black though... This is black and it's clearly from the lines not being cleaned. I ordered chicken Marsala and expected it to come over pasta... it didn't. I asked prior to ordering and the waitress told me it did come over pasta because like i remember last year the pasta came on the side with gross red sauce. And low and behold the pasta they gave me was red sauce on the side. It was like someone just opened up a can of tomato sauce and just poured it on the pasta. It was terrible. Service was good, food horrible. Ordered the "Broiled Pork Chops with Hot Peppers" received one way over cooked pork chop maybe 3/4 of an inch thick with half a cherry pepper sliced up. Another person ordered the ravioli with an Alfredo sauce. The person said they've had better from a jar. Lack of seasoning was part of it. Tasted the eggplant parm. Mostly just a fork full of sauce, and mushy eggplant. For what they charged I expected way better. read more
