We decided to get Italian food and this was close by. I was in the mood for eggplant rollatini, which I'd never had here. I've had it at other restaurants and it's one of my favorites. Upon receiving the food, the presentation looked very pleasing. We got take out so I wasn't expecting anything crazy. Unfortunately, the food taste itself was not as great at I'd hoped. The dish was a little saltier than I'd expected and there wasn't a ton of eggplant. The rollatini portions were stuffed with ricotta, and I never thought I'd say this but, it was too much. I wanted more eggplant and that meaty, savory element. I've had better eggplant rollatini in the area and I wasn't impressed. It wasn't bad but not my favorite. We decided to try this pizzeria because we were in the area and needed something quick. The ambience inside is really cute, and the service was great. However, the pizza was not the best. It lacked sauce, and it was paper thin. The plain slice did not really taste good, not sure if it was the seasonings they had added to the top. There's no place to wash up before eating ie no bathroom. The flavor of Hand sanitizer is off putting. Depending on who's behind the counter the service is spotty at best. It's not like I haven't been here before so I know it's been better, in the past. Maybe today was a bad day for them & me. Someone ordered a couple pizza pies with different toppings, and we picked them up. Unfortunately, the wait took longer than we anticipated, which was a bit of a turnoff. Since it was the lunch rush, it's somewhat understanding, but it would be nice to see some improvements. I personally enjoyed the slices, loaded with flavor and cooked just what I expected. We've ordered from here regularly since moving to Dutchess nearly 5 years ago after trying many places and found this to be the best pizza in the area. Sadly, it seems that they've changed ownership within the past few months and our last two orders were disappointing. A few weeks ago, we were in the mood for a sausage pie and when my husband got home, the pizza was a sloppy mess. The cheese was sliding off all over the place like it should have been cooked more and the presentation of the pizza was awful. If we weren't so hungry, we would've brought it back. Decided to order again tonight and this time we had the opposite problem. I opened the box and said "what the heck?" My husband joked that they confused our order with someone who wanted their pizza extra crispy. The crust was visibly burned in several places and was overcooked this time. I ordered a chicken entrée which no longer comes with a salad. The employee told my husband that they lowered the prices and the salad was an additional charge. The menu that I have at home may be outdated but it shows the same $17.95 for the entrée, including a salad. I don't care about a salad necessarily and I understand food prices have gone up, but it feels dishonest. I guess our love affair with Antonellas has come to an end. read more

We had contractors working and decided to buy some pizza for everyone for lunch. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at how good the pizza was. I've been coming here for years. I really used to enjoy dinner in the restaurant side, which has been closed and walled off from the pizza side. The menu looks like you can get all the same dishes on the pizza side or to go, but it's just not the same. I continue to come here for the pizza, which I enjoy very much. One thing to note is that the place no longer has bathrooms,they were in the restaurant side that was walled off. My girlfriend and I ordered a Sicilian pie last night; half meatball, half pineapple and prosciutto. We get home and apparently ground beef is the same thing as meatballs to the pizza guys at Antonella's. Here's a tip Antonella's, have your online menu reflect the correct toppings. Really solid pizza. Nice staff and always a good selection of slices. Never had a bad meal here. Settled on a chicken bacon ranch slice which is one of their better specialty slices. Also had a baked ziti slice which was really satisfying. Their regular pizza is very good and I debated buying a road slice but my wife talked me out of it. Their Sicilian is that fluffy upstate type that I'm not a huge fan of but all of their Italian food is good as well as their pizza. Got a slice of lasagna Pizza. It's got a lot of toppings on it and felt like it weighs about 3 lb. Staff is really friendly, and they have a very large variety of specialty slices. Went for lunch today with my son , and Marisa (?) was our server and she was very friendly , helpful , and did a wonderful job. I got my son 2 slices of plain pizza which he throughly enjoyed and I got the chicken special that was like a franchisee with prosciutto and shrimp which was very good the only thing was there was a lot of shrimp in this dish I found like 2 pieces I think but over all it was excellent and plentiful . Antonella's in Wappingers is really two restaurants in one. A traditional, sit-down restaurant on one side, and a neighborhood pizza joint on the other. This review is a little tricky, because it's only for the pizza place; I have been to the sit-down restaurant side, but I don't really remember it. The pizza side has a few tables (maybe 9?) and a counter; you get pizza to go or you seat yourself. They typically have several gourmet pizzas (white pizza, veggie and broccoli, etc), plain pizza, and rolls/stromboli (chicken roll etc) ready to go; they heat it up when you order. I believe Antonella's pizza doesn't get the respect it deserves. I never hear anyone talking about it, I never see advertisements for it, and it's never all that crowded when I go in. There are a lot of good pizza places in the Poughkeepsie area (Giacomos, DD's) but the gourmet pizzas at Anotnella'sare consistently excellent. I am chowing down on one chicken marsala slice and one spicy buffalo chicken slice right now and I can honestly say I can't find a better gourmet slice anywhere in Dutchess or Ulster county. Their plain slices are some of the best in the area too, but I'm a sucker for the gourmet slices. My family's been eating at Antonella's since the first location opened in Fishkill in the 1990s. The veal cutlet parm here is my mom's favorite and she is always disappointed with the quality of the veal when she tries the same dish at other restaurants. For me, they have the best red sauce in the area (and we've got a lot of mom and pop Italian restaurants to choose from around here). They don't skimp on the salad that comes with your meal and the garlic knots are so good. I swear they were the first to do knots around here, nobody makes the little ones like they do. We recently went to the Wappingers location for dinner and was sad to find out that the sit-down restaurant side has closed for good. The take out side is still open, and you can sit and eat at the handful of tables so mom still got her veal parm - just with plastic forks and knives. The place was absolutely packed when we were there and lots of folks coming in for take out, lots of deliveries going out. Glad they are still in business and wish them the best. read more

Antonella's is my new favorite Italian restaurant! We stopped there a couple of weeks ago to grab lunch. I was having a difficult time deciding between the shrimp parmesan or the eggplant parmesan meal. To solve the indecision, hubby had the eggplant and I had the shrimp. I was more than delighted with my meal. The shrimp taste and texture was perfect! The sauce was excellent and the amount of cheese was just right. I then tasted my husband's eggplant parmesan. It was delicious also. If my stomach were big enough I would have ordered both and sat there like a glutton consuming both meals. Unfortunately, I couldn't. I slowly, but surely took my time to savor every bite of my shrimp. The good thing about finding good food is that you can always go back again. So, a week later we went back. This time I had the eggplant and hubby had the shrimp. I was a very, very happy camper! The food was delicious and the service great and friendly (yes, I'm talking about you Scott). The second time around we got to meet Angelo, the owner. What a character. He made our visit even more enjoyable. Let me not forget the garlic knots and the salad. Everything was excellent! Never order food from this place. Pizza came covered with oil. Pasta fagioli came covered with orange oil. Not a little. A layer of it. Pizza did not taste like the pizza served at the restaurant at all. Cheese had no flavor. Crust was burned a bit. I am eating at Antonellas alone this is very rare for me. I have been greeted with warmth and attention made to feel like I am a queen. My server sweet and at tentative the manager comes over to see if I need anything. Everyone could stop treating me like I was a VIP. I look like I am a wreck I am tired and a little sad I look like u have been through hell and back this is my oasis. I am so happy here and content eating my favorite dish the shrimp cooked to perfection chicken as well the sauce makes me melt. I frequently order takeout from Antonella's and they are so generous, always include bread, garlic knots, butter, salad (some places don't included salad with a meal) and even a small container of Parmesan cheese for the pasta. The penne ala vodka is always delicious and they give you enough to last three meals. read more

I find that this location (Wappingers Falls) is more comfortable than the one in Fishkill. The pizzas by the slice are fresh and delicious. I love how the plain cheese pizza slices sometimes offer a perfect ending by the crust with a basil leaf. The chicken rolls are great because the bread has not only a wonderful taste but also has wonderful texture and buoyancy to it.
