Los Hornitos Bakery Let me tell you ahead of time that this is a Sweet Treat Heaven! You will definitely want more than one dessert. Don't say I didn't warn you. Los Hornitos Bakery has plenty of parking right outside their door and it smells really nice as you walk in. Everything is perfectly displayed and I wanted to try one of everything! Their displays are filled with plenty of beautiful cakes, cheesecakes and cookies to choose from. You can get an entire cake or a slice or two.. or even three haha! They have a big refrigerator fully stocked with cold drinks as well. To start, I ordered the Churrasco sandwiches. Steak, cheese, avocado, tomato and mayo. It comes with a hot sauce and honestly, I don't like any kind of hot sauce. I was reluctant to try it at first and so glad I did because talk about a pleasant surprise! It has an amazing flavor that brings the sandwich to life and it's actually not hot & spicy! Food came out hot, tasted fresh and came out with perfect timing even though the bakery was quite busy. It's hard not to hear others conversations and it's obvious they have many happy customers. Ok, so now, let's get to the sweet treats. I got a meringue covered cookie with dulce de leche inside. I was excited for this as meringue is a favorite of mine but, unfortunately this treat was extremely dry & crumbly, difficult to eat and lacked in flavor. It's messy and would advise to steer completely clear of tasting it in your car. My second treat, a Bailey's Almond slice of cake. It was soft & creamy, light & fresh, excellent flavor and comes with a pipette of Bailey's Irish Crème. Almonds were crisp. It was so delicious I wish I had bought 2 slices! I recommend this as a Birthday Cake actually. It's impressive. Not overly sweet. You must try for yourself ! My third treat was a slice of Passion Fruit Cheesecake. Parcha is my #1 most favorite flavor and it did not disappoint. Classy. Flavorful. Balanced. Creamy. Decadent. Highly recommend. I'd even go as far as saying it's 'romantic'. It's a perfect dessert for the holidays and special celebrations. Excellent choice for dinner guests or date night. If you're looking to make a good impression, this is the dessert to have served! Last thing I ordered was a regular hot coffee with milk, to go, hot and flavorful just how I like it. It really hit the spot and made me smile! I truly appreciate a great cup of coffee. I love this place. Every time I'm in Dutchess county I have to stop by here for a bakery item or a meal. The cakes they make are incredibly good. The food they make is amazingly delicious. The workers are fast and friendly. I had to ask the owner what was in the hot sauce that they make and she had the biggest smile on her face as she detailed everything that was in it. While we were eating an older gentleman came in for a cake for his pet monkey. Yup you read that right. He has them make a gorgeous looking cake that looked good enough for a human to eat, but for his pet monkey. I wish I took a photo of it. It had lettuce all around it that was cut with such intricate slices. read more

Wow. I expected their Cuban sandwich to be good based on all the reviews and photos, but I was honestly blown away by how great it was. It had perfect ingredients and the perfect proportion of everything. My partner and I shared one. We also got an order of the pernil (roast pork) with rice and beans, and shared that. The pernil was amazing! Tender and flavorful - it's probably one of the best ever! In fact the only Cuban sandwich I ever had that was as good as this one was when I worked in NYC in the 1980's, and I went to a small Cuban restaurant near my office on West 46th street. The rice and beans were great, along with the sauce they give you, which is just spicy enough and flavorful enough to bring every flavor sense front and center. Portions were also big enough that we have leftovers for tomorrow!!! Service was friendly, caring, and with a smile. Loved everything about this place and the warmth of the people who clearly love what they do. Sadly we had no room for dessert, but next time we'll make up for it! read more

My husband and I had a delicious meal, served by the most charming and professional waitress name Pamela. She was attentive and checked on us often. We LOVED the breakfast burritos big time- the homemade salsa on top made them out of this world delicious spicy perfection. The plantains also perfectly cooked and fresh made to order. All cakes I got very moist and soft, something very hard to pull off being refrigerated, plus the cream and icing on them, light and not overly sweet. Next the food is fresh and I like the decor, it made me feel like I was visiting someone's home. Stopped in quick for a beef empanada and pastries with coffee. What a nice little meal. My daughter ordered the tostones. The empanadas were filled with meat and are baked like all empanadas should be. It had hard boiled egg and raisins in it which is unexpected but still good. We ordered guava pastry, chocolate raspberry moose cake, alfajores, and marzipan chocolate almond crescent. All the pastries were great except for the guava pastries. Great service, delicious food. A Hidden gem in a small plaza that is not just a bakery. I walked in around brunch time and the bakery had a good amount of people already enjoying their meals. I ordered takeout to go- the pernil and a piece of tres leches cake. The hot food was ready in under 10 minutes and still warm after the 20 minute drive.
