This was my first time really diving in for some authentic Dominican Republic food. I went with Tres Golpes, referred to as the three hits breakfast, this is also the national breakfast of the Dominican people. Dominican-style salami, fried cheese, and fried eggs served alongside mangú. Mangú, is boiled, mashed plantains and originated in West Africa. I was loving all the culture I was learning by simply dining here but what about the food right? Huge fan of the fried cheese, fried salami was okay, eggs basic but good, and the mangú I was a fan however it does not pack a ton of flavor in my opinion I also bought one Tequeno, which is a fried spear of wheat dough stuffed with semi-hard queso blanco. This is a popular snack in Venezuela. I was not a fan of this however as it was very tasteless. In my opinion it needed a dipping sauce of some sort. I was glad I tried the array of Dominican food however my girlfriend and I both agreed it wasn't our fav. They also have Dominican Tres Golpes and other Spanish food options. We came for breakfast. I had an açaí bowl and the Vegan Soul on a toasted spinach wrap--best vegan cheesy wrap I've ever had. My husband had Dominican fried cheese, two eggs over easy, sausage, a hash brown and 7 grain toast. No complaints there. We had coffee. Coffee sweetened flavors do not have any dairy. I had an iced caramel coffee with oat milk. They have smoothies and juices, definitely coming back to try more things from the menu. Service was good. Ambiance was super friendly. It's always a warm, clean and pleasant experience when I come here. The service and natural light is always on point. I always get the yucca fries with pickled onions and they're fantastic. They have gluten free Dominican cake and organic gluten free chicken noodle soup right now. It's great to find an islander place that accommodates for allergies. It's a bit higher in the price range, it's very easy to pass $15/$20 per person. This place has been on my list of places to try for the longest, and I finally went with my dad. The staff was very kind. My favorite thing was the ambience. Customers can enjoy comfortably lounging on sofas and love seats while waiting on their orders, and they had episodes of Jane the Virgin playing on the TV. Dining in is very comfy and casual as well. I have to admit, when I first opened the cardboard carrier carton, I was a bit worried that I'd regret my dinner choice. Boy was I wrong. The big winner here was the corn flour shell. It carried the whole sandwich. The shredded chicken, cheese, and avocado were all pretty good, but the grilled arepa is what made this an above-average meal. The salmon BLT is pretty dang good, would've never thought to make that myself. Everything is so good and you can spend anywhere from $5-$30 on yourself. The food and portions are decent, the empanadas were big, the arepas were stuffed and the meat was juicy. The yuca fries were bland and kind of stale. I would avoid those. When I'm in the area again I might get food here again, I've had better tasting Latin food though. They have an extensive menu with salads juices bowls breakfast lunch etc which was nice since you have a decent selection size to choose from. The indoor reminds me of a Starbucks structure, so if you're looking for a sit down meal this probs isn't the place. The Green Bowl blew me out of the water with their food and attention to detail! I had a bit over a week to food for an office party for 30 people. Due to the office COVID policy all 30 meals had to be individually packaged. I reached out to The Green Bowl on a coworker's suggestion. He said that not only was the food delicious, but it was also gluten free, with vegetarian and vegan options-perfect for feeding a crowd with a variety of dietary requirements. The owner got back to me very quickly and was extremely generous with the menu options they could provide on our budget. Yami promised that she could do individual packaging and she totally delivered! I expected having to sort out 30 clamshell boxes. Instead, we received 30 individual bags each labeled with the content and stuffed with a menu. The best part? All the packaging is recyclable/biodegradable! Now for the food: For most people this was their first time having an arepa. We ordered pork, chicken or vegetarian arepas and rice bowls. Everyone that had an arepa said they were crispy, juicy, and packed with filling. The rice bowls were a very generous portion and every component had great flavor. The coffee shop is lovely & the staff is quick and friendly. We didn't get to sample some of their heart do your dishes because we were on a tight schedule we loved the coffee and the Sunshine juice blend. The bagel with cream cheese was warm and crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside with just the right amount of cream cheese and the croissant was buttery and layered and delicious. The Green Bowl has been my favorite takeout place in the area since it opened. But recently they've started skimping a lot on portions, especially the açaí bowl portions. You can see the containers come with a raised lid to make room for the toppings so the bowl can be filled to the top, with toppings added. But lately the bowls are only filled halfway, even with the toppings in them. I think it's genuinely that the young workers don't realize but I wish management would tell them they should fill the bowls since they're designed to hold more. It might start to be worth driving further for a true portion. read more
