I'm usually disappointed by more matcha or coffee shops than usual however State Thomas has proved me wrong. First off this place is so simple, chic and aesthetic. I love the long tables that allow for bigger groups and just a collaborative family like setting. On both sides of the windows, there's also seating available too which is appreciated. The cute notepad wall filled with positive affirmations and sayings are such a sweet touch especially during the holiday season. The fact that you are able to choose your sweetness is one of the most simplest yet thoughtful things shops that sell matcha can do. It''s really customer centric which I appreciate. I ordered the matcha thomas with oat milk and 100% sweetness. The drink had the perfect color, has notes of coconut and vanilla and although it was 100% sweetness it was still subtle. There has to be some type of coconut cream or milk given the flavor and texture and its sooo yummy and refreshing. Re-reviewing to say I went back and had an equally excellent experience. This time I tried the Matcha Thomas signature with coconut which was creamy and delicious. I went at the end of the day on Sunday so there was not a long line. Even if the line was long, I would wait because they really take care of each customer and you aren't just a number or misspelled name to them (haha Starbucks). While I was waiting for my drink to be made, my mom scoped out the bathroom and happy to report that it is big enough for a wheelchair and has grab bars so I can fully recommend this location from all aspects of accessibility. Favorite matcha spot in beacon! Love the intentional design and mindful space the owners created. They are a lovely sister duo and you can really feel the passion they pour into their business. I really appreciate the fresh housemade ingredients they use and the options for different sweeteners and sweetness levels, and different plant milk options. Oat and almond are very popular nowadays but weirdly not many places have soy, so I really appreciate having that as an option! The sweetness level of the drinks are also really nice. Especially since it is agave. 50-75% sweet works for me (I usually get 0-25% but their drinks aren't too sweet like other places, so I would try regular first and then bring it down from there!). They also have a super cute cart to take their boba to, like farmers market and other events. They're a really nice small business that partners with other small businesses. During our visit to Beacon, we decided to stop by Matcha Thomas to get our caffeine fix in. It was a hot day so there was a line to order but the line moved fairly quickly. We ordered the matcha latte + boba and the hojicha latte (both with oat milk) and both drinks exceeded our expectations. Not too fond of the Hot Chocolate with Yuzu and hazelnut. It did not taste good. The strawberry matcha in the summer was the best one there. I'm a fan of Matcha Thomas, but not when they keep changing the menu. If something is good, stick to it. The pumpkin spice latte was also good and now it's removed. I'm a watermelon bubble tea fiend, so when I heard they had their fresh watermelon juice for the summer, I was psyched. The watermelon juice they use is very concentrated so they dilute it with milk and agave or matcha which gives it a less refreshing, more creamy (like cereal milk) taste than most places. Hats off to the owner who was so generous with me when I asked if she could remake it with regular decaf tea so it was more refreshing. She did and it was great! I even diluted it some more with seltzer later and it was so delicious. The pumpkin spice hojicha preserved the earthy, roasted flavor of the hojicha and was my favorite over the elderflower matcha, which gave more floral/spring vibes. Something to note is they only offer non-dairy milks, which is great for folks like me that always pay extra at other cafes to sub out the whole milk.
