Went here after years of wanting to try it because Tiramisu was packed. Arrived with my son a little after 7pm. We were the only customers. My son described the server as "mean but also nice". She reminded us that the kitchen closes at 8pm. I couldn't eat the chicken noodle soup. It tasted old. The chicken was like brown clams. No bread for the Portuguese seafood dish that had lots of broth. Calimari is the frozen ring kind. The pizza was ok. At 7:45, my son wanted something for dessert and she told us we could only get dessert to go because they are closing in 15 minutes. We paid with credit card. My son saw the dessert case and wanted to add a dessert to go, but it was too late because the card already went through and I only had $100 bill. My husband and I always pass this place and we wanted to try it. We never hear anyone talking about it so we were skeptical. For appetizers i got the little neck clams in a scampi sauce. That was so delicious. My husband got the cod fritters. They were very good especially when dipped in my scampi Sauce. For entrees I got the Shrimp Piri Piri. That was outstanding. My husband got the chicken parmigiana with eggplant on top with a side of broccoli rabe. He also loved his dinner. This is a not so hidden gem of a restaurant. It is family owned and ran. If you do, you will be treated to authentic seafood dishes made with love here by a multi-generation family business. I came for a relaxing dinner with my sister-in-law after she got off a hard day's work. She's a vet tech and some days are waaay harder than others. This was one of those. We had to wait for a while until we got the waitress's attention and the place wasn't crowded, but the waitress was young. I think the manager sent her over, finally. After she took our order she was attentive and sweet as apple pie. People came in for take-out and left. Others came in and were seated. It wasn't super busy and it wasn't empty either. She brought us warm fresh bread which was wonderful and we ate too much of it with butter. I started with minestrone soup which was very good. Then I went to spaghetti and meatballs, also quite good. Honestly, I can't recall what my SIL got. I do recall her saying, "You can't review it because you didn't taste it." She ate it all and said it was really good. She likes this place which is why we came. We skipped dessert because we're both watching our weight. I walked over to the baked goods cooler just to torture myself and everything looked really good. Then I went back to our table and my SIL flagged the waitress down to get our check. We gave her several bills and were waiting for our change, which didn't come. We then realized the young lady though our entire change should be her tip. Close, but no cigar...and we wanted to make that decision. Again, the manager realized what was going on and sent her to our table with our change. I can't recall if she got a slightly smaller tip than she would have, but she might've. Wanted so much to like this place due to it being close to home and having a very cozy atmosphere. Unfortunately there was nothing memorable at all. Our calamari was breaded rings straight from the frozen bag with zero taste. The shrimp empanada has no discernable shrimp in it, it was a hot liquid paste that had a metallic taste. I think this place is absolutely adorable! I feel so at home when I dine at Mama Mia's between the service and the atmosphere. I've visited MM a few times now and have enjoyed every single meal - my favorite being the scallops with linguini (pictured). I absolutely love Italian food and can probably eat it every night of the week especially if drowned in the marinara sauce that Mama Mia's uses. Their pizza is pretty decent too in an area so desperate for good pizza so even if you can't dine in, there's very good take out to choose from. I am always up for a visit here. read more

Orderd a pie with 1/2 having an additional topping. It was picked up on time and brought straight home, less than a 5 minute drive. When the pie arrived at the house, the table was set, no delay getting it plated and it was cold! Not hot, not warm, it was almost ice cold. The cheese was congealed and waxy looking. It appeared the pie was one they had made earlier and had sitting at the ready (cold), threw some extra cheese on the half with the extra topping so it would stick and they may have thrown it in the oven for a quick melt. Now, being a NYC guy, I know the best pies taste great cold, so we ate it. It wasn't terrible. The crust was crispy at the and to make for a nice fold, but after the fold, the rest of the crust was like a wet paper towel. Soggy and floppy! Again, the taste wasn't terrible, so I will try it again. If they make it fresh on the spot, I think it will be some of the best pie in the area. She then received a phone call, and proceeded to write down the order from the phone call. We've been getting Mama Mia's (II) pizza and take out for a few years now, and have always been pretty happy with it. When picking up an order, I'd remark how quaint and cute the actual restaurant was, and would make a mental note to dine there sometime. Well, I finally made due on that the other night, to very pleasing results. The Chicken Francese was great, and the side of spaghetti, salad, and warm bread was the perfect complement to it. They also make some pretty good pizza (one of the better pizzerias in the area, I think) and garlic bread. The service is very friendly and quick, and the prices are just right. The dining area is very cozy, and reminds me of the Italian/pizza places I'd go to as a kid (in a good, nostalgic way, not an outdated, creepy way). I called to find out if they carried a specific dish and I was told with a bad attitude that they were closed and the lady on the other end hung up the phone. Mind you on Yelp it said that they closed at 10pm and it was only 9:06pm at the time. So I felt really offended and I called back again and I said "I just want to know if you sell chimichangas? Why are u being so rude?" So the lady responds and says "u obviously have nothing better to do and says that I was asking a stupid question" she hangs up again. Now I'm really upset & i called back again & I asked to speak to her manager and asked for her name. & she responded and said "never mind my name & I am the manager and owner of this restaurant" so I said "how do u expect to get any business with that attitude & I told her that I would never buy anything from there" it's sad because I was hungry and in the area and was looking for something to eat. I come here every other Saturday with my kids and they just love the pasta. And we love the specials, everything from chicken to shrimp to veal. The Portuguese specials are amazing, like the shrimp Piri Piri. The foot comes out of the kitchen piping hot and fresh, and the service is wonderful. It is family run and they are always there. We ate there the other night w/ a couple of kids. The food was horrible. We partook of the "All you can Eat Spaghetti". The sauce was absolutely horrible, tasted like nothing w/ a terrible aftertaste....nothing more than fr. a can--I'm sure, but not even seasoned or doctored up. Tasteless-bland. The meatballs were a big chunk of meat, tasteless wtih no hint of spices...of any kind, bland. Garden Salad was Ok..but they served old, kind of shriveled up celery in it. The owner, a rude woman claims she is & has been the owner for 30 years, Although she looked old enough to be, she certainly had a terrible disposition abt. herself, like she didn't want to be there & how rudely she treated us gave us that indication. We had a 2 y.o. toddler w/ us & she never onced asked if we needed, or would like a highchair or booster, when I told her this @ the end...she started arguing w/ me and becoming quite defensive & rude in front of my teenager who absolutely hated her food and didn't even want to eat there in the 1st place, but wanted a burger from across the street instead. He finally gave in to my suggestion. I told her he had just come from a match and she was oblivious to it..in a non-caring way. She also told us no sharing when I gave my toddler a little bit of my Ziti, because I knew he wouldn't eat much BEWARE--SHE CHARGED US $3.00 FOR A LIL' BOTTLE OF 8 oz. Poland Spring Watter & $3.00 for a Root Beer bottle 16 oz.. She is nuts. ' Overall the entire dining experience was horrible and the food was THE WORST!! Don't ever be foolish enough to eat there, let alone take your young children to eat there...it's absolutely horrible. No wonder we only saw 2 customers come and that was for takeout pizza.
