NYC railroad bridge over the Hudson
    Jason S.

We stopped at F&S on the way home from Massachusetts, traveling on I-84. My son is a huge New York Central fan, so I wanted to show him the rail bridge over the Hudson. This place had a great view of the bridge so we stopped. First, I had no idea it was a mushroom heavy menu. I hate mushrooms, not the flavor, the consistency, but that's not why I gave you 3 stars. My wife would love the menu, but she was at home. My son had a mushroom ravioli, he loved it. My dad and I both had the hot honey chicken sandwich with shoe string fries (one of the few things w/o accompanying fungus).. we got our ration of ketchup with the fries. There was a nice selection of micros on tap, I did not review the wine list, but they have a decent cocktail list. So there's the positive. The sandwich was awesome, service was not. It appeared to be a management issue, we sat on the patio and every table had a different server who were also attending to other guests inside the restaurant, trying to run back and forth. Empty drinks, uncleared plates, no ketchup for fries. I finally had to flag down another server. My dad is 77, he was getting really annoyed, got up and left. Chicken sandwich -$20 x2, Pasta - $30. One beer. $80 total, plus tip. I guess I paid for the view of the bridge. You really deserve 3 stars; I felt your staff was inattentive and rude. Sorry it was so much trouble to pay attention to us.

What an amazing find! The vibe of this space is super cozy cottage core. I loved the farm to chef/table collab. The seasonal menu did not disappoint! The wine selection was also very good

I tried this on a whim while here from out of town. I saw that they grow their own mushrooms and I was intrigued. The meal and drinks were delicious. I'm looking forward to coming back tomorrow and the next while still in town to try other options as well. By far one of the best meals I've had in a while

City quality restaurant in the Hudson Valley! If you are traveling to Poughkeepsie, this is the place to go. I came here with a party of 5 and everything we ordered was outstanding, the restaurant was lovely with a view of the walking bridge, and the service was top notch. For wine, we ordered a bottle of the Côtes du Rhône - HIGHLY recommend. For food, we ordered a combination of the dinner menu, restaurant week menu, and specials menu: Starters: - Fried green tomatoes with burrata - Burrata crostini - Escargot Burgundy - Mussels Dijonnaise (I personally loved these and sopped up the sauce using the fries) - Side of parmesan truffle fries Entrees: - I ordered the Pan Roasted Duck Breast. It was fresh and perfectly cooked. - My friends ordered the Lion's Mane Sandwich, Duck Confit Ragu, Chicken Saltimbocca, and the Goat Cheese & Mushroom Ravioli. Everyone absolutely loved their meal. For dessert, I had an affogato, which was perfect. Next time I'm in Poughkeepsie, I will definitely be back!

1st time ever having octopus, it was delicious Also had the trout, loved the flavor actually sweet. Drink was Purple Haze and delicious, 2 was perfect. The staff was so kind beginning to end. Hostess she was a sweetheart with a great smile. Lava cake & ice cream for my 68th birthday was the BEST I've ever had. Can't wait to go again.

Crème brûlée - poorly flavored, undesirable viscosity and overpriced

The food was mediocre and extremely overpriced. The service was not great - wait staff did not care if we enjoyed our items or not, wait times for food and drink were long, and we were being rushed out before 8:25 despite the restaurant being half empty and their closing time being 9pm.

Excellent service from Dominique! She was awesome! The specials were mouthwatering just by the description. Chose the Malbec wine to start off Our adventure and then Ordered the escargot, they were right out of the movie Pretty Woman. The entrees Salmon perfectly cooked kudos to the chef with the asparagus dancing in a scrumptious sauce. The new York strip steak was cooked to order, a bit too much fat, but that's the cut. Fingerling potatoes were tender and asparagus had just the right tenderness. All in all a wonderful experience. Outstanding service, great venue, great food!

First, but not last visit to Farmers & chefs. Take your pick of excellent seating choices from the dining area, bar and lounge inside or bar side/tables outside. Conveniently located to the Walkway over the Hudson, it's the perfect spot to visit afterwards. We dined outside to take advantage of the nice weather. Our waitress, Dominque, was attentive and personable too! We enjoyed everything...the Thai chili wings, pub burger and especially the hot honey chicken sandwich. The shoe string fries were a favorite as well.

Popping in for a quick drink with my husband, only to be greeted with many hellos for neighbors and the Farmers Team. Sarah brings her all to every visit. The embrace we receive and I can't forget the LOVING on our three puppies. The space feels like coming home. Holiday Ready.

Baja Fish Wrap with Side of Fries

We came here during a short tour of the Hudson Valley area. It was a warm summer day and were pleasantly surprised to discover this place. Our server rattled off the longest list of specials I think I have ever heard -- though we elected to choose from the standard menu of the Baja fish wrap and the pan roasted duck. Both were tasty -- and the location felt quite comfortable -- people seemed to know & appreciate the restaurant so it filled up a bit when we were sitting there. What was nice was that because it was so warm was the server came by regularly to refill our water glasses as well as check in.

Farmers & Chefs is a cute little restaurant tucked away in the city of Poughkeepsie right on the water. It was raining outside so my party of three sat inside although the outside dining looked beautiful as it overlooked the Hudson. The inside was very nice too and clean. There wasn't a ton of seating inside however it was 5PM on a Tuesday so there was no need for a reservation. We ordered the farmers chef wings appetizer. It came with 8 wings, carrots, and celery. The seasoning on the wings was perfect and had a nice little kick to it. For my main dish, I ordered one of the specials for the night which was a beef bolognese with house made pasta. They took note that I don't eat dairy otherwise it does come with Parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. I loved that the pasta was made in-house and the sauce was great too. It definitely tasted nice and fresh. It is a little more on the pricey side but a great place to go if you are looking to have a nice night with friends or family.

One of the most unique cafes I've been to in recent memories. From the Ground Up, is located deep inside a 55+ senior living townhouse community. It was a little tricky to find driving through the different buildings in the complex. Once we figured it out, we were greated with a very large dining area that was super clean with big windows and plenty of natural light. They have a few cases of baked goods and coffee, as well as weekly specials. One look at the menu and I knew my order. Shakshuka (traditionally African or Middle Eastern) is a dish of eggs poached in a spiced tomato sauce with onions, peppers, garlic, chickpeas, and kale served with bread to soak up that wonderful red sauce and egg yolk. At $14, this was a steal. The Rueben and fries were pretty standard and my iced latte was decent. Finished things off with a chocolate chip cookie skillet topped with vanilla ice cream. Had plenty of leftovers to bring home. They do a lot of catering and use the cafe as a home base for their 2 food trucks. The chef is a CIA grad. Seems with the 100s of townhouses, they have a built in customer base. They offer some pretty standard stuff like paninis, waffles, omelettes, and burgers. Next time, I want to try the shepherds pie, fish and chips, or chicken and waffles. #highland #fromthegroundupcafe #shakshuka #coffee #reuben #hveats #hvfoodies #eater #igeats #ulster #hudsonvalley #ulstereateriesunited #cookieskillet #ulstereateriesunfiltered #cafe #townhouses @above_weddings

After we walked in one of the waitresses informed us that we can sit wherever we want. I instantly felt like I was inconveniencing her with my presence by the way she said it. Didn't take it personal just yet. What appeared to be the hostess came over a few minutes after we sat down and handed us menus that were very dirty. I looked at my husband and said I am ready to walk out of this place bc I am starving and it looks like they are too short staffed right now which is understandably out of a businesses control sometimes. But wait, instead of the waitress coming to our table to bring water or ask us if we would like a drink, she went to another table with a man and a child that she obviously knew well, and started eating their french fries and talking. That's when we decided to leave and spend our money elsewhere. So unprofessional. That couldn't wait? I hate to leave a review like this, but if I was the owner of this business, I would not want someone like that working for me, representing what seems to be a great place.

It's a reliable stop when you need coffee, but it doesn't go above and beyond. The atmosphere is typical, clean, and functional, though not especially cozy or memorable. Hi Melanie I wanted to share a recent experience I had at one of your Starbucks locations because it was so far from what I've come to expect from the brand. I went into the store last week.. There was no one in the store, and They took my order for a tall coffee. That was it. It took 25 minutes to get me the coffee. The woman said she couldn't just pour it for me because all orders before me..drive thru ... on the app.... Take precedence.. Then someone else came in and was complaining about the same thing... When I asked the person at the front again, she was totally nonchalant about it.. like this is our policy and just deal with it. What's frustrating is that I can walk into almost any other coffee shop and be in and out in a few minutes. At Starbucks, it now feels like in-person customers are an afterthought while mobile and drive-thru orders take precedence, even when there's a customer standing right at the counter. I don't know if this is the result of a broader policy change, operational emphasis on mobile/drive-thru, or just poor management at this particular store, but it's not the Starbucks experience I remember. I would strongly encourage you to rethink the in-store customer priority and service standards so people who take the time to walk in aren't left feeling ignored. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for looking into it.
