Our sights were actually set on I-84 Diner, but they were already closed. Luckily Red Line Diner came to the rescue. Thank you, Red Line Diner, for being open until midnight seven days a week! As with the other nearby diners, Red Line has that classic diner appearance and feel. I ordered the Manhattan Chopped Cobb Salad ($18.75) which wasn't bad at all. But what makes it Manhattan??? I was impressed that the portion size was humongous, so much so that I couldn't eat all of it. For some reason, our host sat us next to a large boisterous party celebrating a birthday. Had a very early doctor's appointment, so we skipped Breakfast at home. Afterwards, we decided to have it at Red Line Diner. Never disappointed there; whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The restaurant's atmosphere is conducive to an enjoyable meal and the ability to have a conversation without having to yell over the background music. I think I might've mentioned they have a customer loyalty program where you earn points that can be applied that day to the bill or accumulated to be used at a later date. read more

I look forward to this diner so much when I stay overnight in Fishkill on business at the Marriott across the street. Every waitress and waiter are perfect! Food choices are always excellent. Seriously the best! Since my last review I have been here at least a dozen more times. Usually I visit when passing through the area and/or visiting family in the area. Once inside you have the classic diner feel just on an elevated level. Don't be scared by the parking lot. It may seem like there is a lot of cars and it may be busy, but honestly once you're inside, you really don't take notice. I appreciate the uniforms all of the servers and employees wear from what I could tell. It is all black with a red apron. Every time I've been here the service is notably amazing . They have always been hard at work and the buses are bussing those tables pretty fast to get them turned. I have not had one bad meal here. Whether it is breakfast or dinner the meals have always been fantastic! The other night I had chicken and pasta soup, and the Santa Fe chicken wrap. I almost didn't get dessert, but I was in the mood for some ice cream. So I opted for the peanut butter chocolate ice cream their fudge they use as delicious and the peanut butter hit the spot. As I am addicted to peanut butter. This Sunday itself was a decent size. It wasn't too much. It was just perfect. I wish I was local because I'm sure I would definitely eat a lot of their soup. Had a small issue talked to Tony and the Red Line made it right. I know I'm difficult person to feed: Celiac Disease High blood sugar I won't touch food if it looks sus (gotten sick too many times) But yeah, they did right by me and they'll likely do right with your meal too. If you have special allergies like me, my only advice is to consider speaking with a supervisor/manager regarding your special needs. read more

A local favorite and a must to dine! Red Line is not your typical diner. They are a little more "upscale" than you would typically see in a diner. Even if the parking lot is packed- they almost always have a table waiting for you! Amazing and friendly servers every time I go. The food is always excellent- and they do serve large portion, so if you want to share- there is plenty! Or do what my family does and pass some around the table! The Red Line is hustling and definitely bustling at 1pm on a Sunday between a later breakfast/brunch/lunch crowd. Looks are deceiving, the parking lot (front/back) are packed but with a 5 minute wait it's worth it! The kids meals were a great deal and they really enjoyed their meals! The chicken delicious, the side of fries aren't necessary but that side Greek salad is one of the best around and definitely add their coleslaw. One star removed for the service. She took our order and everything moved fast but didn't see her again until it was time for the bill. They definitely have a lot of staff on the floor but hard to ask for things we needed. This is a big place with lots and lots of booths--my favorite. They were playing a bunch of 70s music which suited us just fine. It was hopping after 10PM on a Tuesday. Our waiter Ralph set exactly the right tone for us to enjoy our time in the restaurant and our meal. We had a pastrami Reuben and a French dip (I've never had a French dip THAT GOOD before) along with a vanilla malted milkshake and a root beer float. My toddler and I opted for the diner for lunch. She ordered silver dollar pancakes and I got the classic American burger. I also had an ice latte. Service was wonderful, our server Trish was great and kind. My burger was perfectly cooked and well my daughter could not wait for me to take a pic of her pancakes lol she dove right in. I love this redline diner. These diners are one of a kind. I wish they were everywhere. Gotta love A good greasy spoon where everybody & their family and friends sit in a cozy environment. The place is really packed at times but fast service, attentive, and great experience. The servers do deserve a good tip. This place is a classic. You can order anything off the menu and everything will be great . Prefer breakfast when going to these type of diners it never miss. Anytime you order breakfast always get home fries well done get a bagel on the grill with extra butter Always get a omelette but the side of bacon extra crispy and it's always gonna hit. The French toast, pancakes, biscuits, and gravy they also make a good pot of coffee to me everything's good. When getting seated asked for a booth next to the window so you can get a good view of the mountains outside. Gives it a good vibe while eating. Busy diner with a steady flow of patrons. We got the table right away despite it being a Saturday night. Our food came out fast and everything was pretty good. My husband's buffalo chicken wrap was super spicy but he didn't mind. I had a chicken panini that was filling and fresh. We opted for desserts and we should've realized how huge they will be. Absolutely enormous, and tasty too. The service was prompt and friendly, no issues at all. I took one star off for the constant small print in the menu for fries extra, bacon extra, cheese extra, it seemed like everything was à la cart and we don't like that. In addition, the kids menu was strange. It had a salmon dish for $18.99 (ha?) and all the drinks and desserts were extra as well. Stopped in on a drive back home and had a great first experience! The food was all good and the menu was large so we were surprised to have no misses. Normally this is an excellent place to have lunch which it was today HOWEVER I asked the waitress to pack up a slice of pie for me to take with me. I suggested apple and she said no the raspberry pie was fresh and it was going to be really good so I said okay put that in the bag and I'll go. When I got home I opened the brown paper bag and lo and behold, there was a slice of pie that was slightly more than the equivalent of one bite. Tonight was my second day in a row coming to red line diner. The reason I came back is because it was that good. Two days in a row. Yesterday I had the New York Reuben, which was excellent and today I had the southern fried chickenwith a slice of apple pie. The service was excellent and the food was good old-fashioned homestyle cooking. Cynthia was my server this evening and she was very prompt and kept my coffee filled throughout dinner. We stopped here from out of state and I wish I lived closer to this diner! We arrived on a holiday and the place was packed, so I anticipated a bit of a wait, but to our surprise we got seated immediately. Our server was so sweet and accommodating. We had chocolate chip pancakes with strawberries with a side of scrambled eggs, and egg and cheese sandwich, fries, and coffee and cappuccino. Everything was very good and prices are fair! The daily specials looked amazing (Brie and blueberry French toast?!) So happy to have found this stop on the ride home and will definitely return if in the area again. read more

If you are looking for a place like the Cheesecake Factory, you've pretty much found a demi-clone of it here with Red Line Diner. Now, I have no idea if there is some history or relationship between the two, but after looking closely at RLD's expansive menu, I couldn't help but compare them, and I noticed that several of the entrees seem named the same as well (i.e. Chicken Madeira, Bang Bang Chicken). And, since I like the Factory, that's a good thing! Given that, if you have a picky group that has divergent tastes and you can't figure out where to go, then go here. The menu has everything, and there will surely be something for everyone. On my visit, I went with the Gyro. Sure, the waitress pronounced it "Jye-Roh", but I was happy with it. Very fresh pita, good tzatziki sauce, and came with a side of fries. Wifey went with the aforementioned Chicken Madeira, and she would assess it was 90% as good as the Cheesecake Factory. Given the eerie similarities, we did have to order desserts, including a strawberry cheesecake. It was good, though perhaps too fluffy with not enough solid texture the way I would prefer. We also got a Napoleon, which is a really an old-school French layered custard pastry dessert also known as a 'mille-feuille'. Folks - this is the dessert to get here. All in all, RLD is a likely crowd pleaser, with an enormous menu, decent service, and solid delivery of what they offer. We'd go back. read more

Always stopped into Cracker Barrel after picking my daughter up from West Point and wanted to try something different so we stopped in here for lunch. We were greeted and seated straight away and I really liked the decor was like retro modern and I liked it. The place is really clean for as busy as it was which was nice. Our waitress came and took our orders and our food came out at within a decent time. My daughter had the turkey avocado bacon melt with soup and her boyfriend had a double burger and I had the BBQ brisket melt with soup. The chicken noodle soup was fantastic and tasted like home made. We all enjoyed our meals and the fries were great as well and I usually could take or leave them. When we were done we all shared the peach bread pudding and I can tell you it was amazing!!! I can honestly say I am glad that we stopped to try this place out as this is my new stop when in that area. read more

A parking lot is available. The waiter was attentive and knowledgeable. I visited on Saint Patrick's Day hence the special green menu. The regular menu was quite extensive, but I thought I would save them for another day. We were a party of three and we all enjoyed different entrees. We booked a table of 8 for Noon on a Sunday. Huge mistake. After waiting in the crowded entryway we were seated in the back room at about 12:10pm, a reasonable wait. Our food order however did not arrive until 1:10pm. The wait staff was clearly overwhelmed. I shared our experience with the manager (older gentleman) at the counter in front and he mumbled something about the kitchen being busy and offered NO apology. A great vintage style diner with a typical huge menu. If you're looking for a NY traditional diner you've found it. We arrived on a busy Sunday morning and were greeted and seated fairly quickly. I had eggs Benedict, with avocado (along with an unknown ridiculous upcharge) and my hubby had breakfast with hash. Both were delicious and plentiful. The last time my best friend, Houdini (formerly known as Pots & Pans) and I stopped here together was almost exactly 6 yrs ago. It was 1 o'clock in the morning, and we were on our way to our first x-country trip....25 states (and two Canadian provinces) in, coincidentally, 25 days in a rental car. First day was 892 miles and we ended up in TN (I drove all the way while P & P slept most of it). Fun fact, the rental had 223 miles on it when we picked it up, and 12,209 miles when we returned it! Anyway, just coffee back then. Today, it was breakfast b4 a long hike. Plenty of parking. Red Line has all the bells and whistles..lots of neon and stainless steel and an extensive menu. Baking done on premises. I opted for a florentine omelet (spinach and feta), w well-done HFs, and rye toast. Naturally, Houdini got the exact same thing. Service was excellent, the omelets, etc. delicious, and prices not out of whack. We left well-caffeinated. One thing of note...corned beast hash is not homemade. From a can.
