Good ole American juicy burger cooked to perfection. Service was fast and friendly. Mimosa was mostly juice with the added straw lol. Diner is kept very warm and comfortable.

Came here for a casual dinner while shopping around locally. It's a good spot if you want lots of options to choose from. Big menu. The food was pretty good. Plenty of parking and no wait time so it's convenient.

It's been awhile since I been here. The food is good. I had a deluxe cheeseburger which comes with 3 onion rings and fries. The tomato and lettuce was old and had an off taste. The burger was cooked to a perfect medium rare. It was huge and had good flavor. I wish it came out faster, we waited around 30 mins for our food to come out after we ordered it. The ambiance was your typical diner setup. They had a good display of deserts to choice from. They looked good to try next time.

Moving to the area soon and have already been here three times. Good food, great service and they make an awesome Bloody Mary. Also tried a chicken wrap, breakfast bowl (the Buenos Dias bowl) and other stuff. All very good.

My DIY rendition of avacado toast...fail

OK guys. As we all know, a good diner is determined by its french fry. This review is not set in stone as I plan on going back to make my final decision on this place. The side of french fries portion was very very small even to the point where you can see the plate under the french fry. The french fries were undercooked, however acceptable. The side of gravy was absolutely delicious, even though it was too thick and a small portion as well. Now, avocado toast is a new popular breakfast item and it was not on the menu. Since I was craving this, i was contemplating whether to get a BLT with avocado or just get toast with added avocado and bacon. I did the second option. The presentation was weird and I had to end up making it myself by smashing the avocado. I ordered bacon, not bacon bits and we got charged for both. The egg dish was good, but how can you go wrong with that. Despite the weird food experience, the waitress was super nice so I give service a 5 and the ambience was a 5 as well. Let's see what our next visit entails . Wish me luck! ~Nini

Took my son out for breakfast here. I don't recall the last time I came. Customer service was great from the hostess to the servers. Polite and attentive. I had a special, cinnamon pancakes with vanilla sauce. It was really good. My son had a chorizo omelet. The chorizo was a little bland. Not the usually crumbled spicy kind. Not sure it even was chorizo. Overall not a terrible experience.

Made a quick stop at Dutchess Diner on Monday afternoon. An average diner experience, with a big menu of decent food, but nothing that has you dying to go back. Quality: Dutchess Diner served up pretty standard diner fare. We ordered a mix of breakfast and lunch items, and while nothing stood out as amazing, everything was solid. I started out with a Hot Chocolate, which provided some nice warmth on a cool rainy day. For an appetizer the Mozzarella Sticks were a good treat. The Dynamic Duo came with two eggs, two slices of bacon, two sausages, two ham, and two slices of french toast. The perfect breakfast option when you don't want to decide. The sausage was the highlight of the items, while I was not thrilled by the ham. We also got some okay French Fries on the side. Quantity: Good portions for all the items we ordered. Value: $3 for a Hot Chocolate. $9 for the Mozzarella Sticks. $11 for the Dynamic Duo. $3.50 for a Small French Fries. Ambiance: Dutchess Diner is a local diner a little south of Poughkeepsie in Upstate New York. It sits across the street from a mall and massive store complex, which definitely pulls in some hungry shoppers. It looks like a typical slightly dated diner from the outside. A lot of metal and tons of windows on each side. Inside it is booths and tables wrapping around the entire space with old jukeboxes at many of the tables. Extra barriers have been set-up between tables and they had many marked to keep empty. At the entrance they also seemed to have tables and chairs they removed from the space, or were potentially considering expanding outside. Crowd: It was about a ten-minute wait for a table. They had a constant flow going through, which even for a holiday was surprising on a Monday. Service: Extremely friendly waitress, but a little frantic because of the number of tables she was covering. Even with the reduction in tables, it seemed like they could use more staff. Parking: Large parking lot that stretches behind the diner.

More recently, a coworker of mine mentioned she had dined here. Hubs and I had just finished with a gender reveal party in Stony Point and decided to come here then afterwards head up home. Ship L. has a warm, woodsy charm with dark woods, a large bar area to the right as you enter Ship L and has a spacious dining area on the left with an old-school energy that feels just right for a long-standing rest'nt like this one. Service was great from everyone: friendly, attentive and welcoming all around. That said, awesome service and history can only carry a restaurant but so far. We were told their long-standing chef of 30+ yrs either resigned(?) or didn't want to work here(?) and based on what my coworker told me- that she noticed a difference in the cooking not too long ago when she came here. Sadly, it shows. Our escargots were extremely salty. My husband's pork chop was salty. His vegetables also salty. At that point, I held out hope that my Chilean sea bass might at least redeem the evening. No such luck. Salty again. Even the mushroom risotto- which actually had delicious flavor, was overpowered by too much salt. By then, after one appetizer and two entrées all salty, we figured dessert would at least save the night. Nope. I ordered profiteroles with chocolate gelato instead of vanilla and was truly looking forward to them. Except, the profiteroles were rock hard. The chocolate drizzle tasted like Hershey's syrup, making the dessert taste cheap for a restaurant of this type. My husband, who always goes for sorbet, ordered the mango flavor- but to me it tasted like an unripe mango blended with sugar just to make it palatable.. If you're from the Caribbean or know a true mango taste, you know exactly what I mean. And don't even get me started on the cocktails- they tasted more like juice than actual drinks. At the end of the night, we realized we weren't imagining things. A $245 dinner with weak cocktails, overly salty food and disappointing desserts was no balance for a restaurant with such a long-standing history. For that reason... we out.

Instead, we found a culinary gem. The space is spectacular -- bright, open, and surrounded by relaxing river ambiance. We began our evening on the outdoor balcony, but a sudden thunderstorm dropped a tsunami of rain prompting a quick relocation into the equally welcoming main dining room. Our waiter, a charming young man from Hungary, gave us an excellent primer on the menu, which expertly balanced accessible staples with high-end luxury (creeping all the way up to an eye-popping $155 Wagyu steak special -- there were only 15 servings available for the night we later found out). As Port lovers, we were floored by the beverage options. Living outside of Philadelphia, we're used to restaurants offering one or two uninspired Tawnys. Shadows boasts an embarrassment of riches. Our waiter candidly confessed Port wasn't his forte and quickly dispatched the sommelier, Enrique. The fluid, passionate back-and-forth that followed was incredible; we learned more about wine in five minutes with Enrique than in decades of traveling. We gladly handed him the steering wheel for the rest of the night. Because we were celebrating my birthday, we went all in. My wife crossed caviar off her bucket list and tried the delectable octopus -- a substantial steak rather than the usual fried bits at most establishments. After some enabling from my wife, I went temporarily insane and ordered the Wagyu. As frequent diners, it was the priciest plate I've ever ordered, and it was worth every single penny. From the kitchen's flawless execution to exceptional hospitality that extended from the GM to the bus staff, the evening was perfect. Yes, we dropped a small fortune, but entirely by choice -- the menu accommodates nearly all budgets. We left feeling like we made out like bandits because the memories were priceless. Several times during dinner I literally felt envious of the locals. I hope they realize what a treasure they have in their midst.

So yeah as you can imagine this place is pricey and is definitely for a special occasion. On this visit we had exceptional service and they even brought us free caviar! I have seen them do this before. We had a girls night here one time and one of my friends got there early. As she waited they gave her a complimentary glass of champagne. This type of customer service is amazing and is what is expected of an establishment of this caliber. I mean a room at the hotel here will cost you about $1000 a night. So as you can guess it is not unusual to see celebrities here as well. Before I get into the food I will tell you what made me give them 3 stars. One morning I brought a friend here that was going through something. I wanted to treat her to a nice breakfast. We sat on there terrace by the fire pits. As I've said before I've been here often. The waiter who was not as friendly as I've had before told me in order to eat there I needed to put a card on file. Huh? I've never seen that before but okay sure. I mentioned how I would likely order something to go to for my husband at the end of our meal. The service was not great because they did not come back and when they finally did they swiped my card and gave me the final check. Huh? I never said I was finished and again I had already mentioned I wanted to order something to go. When I asked this new waitress ( the original guy was no where in sight) why they ran my card already because I specifically said I wanted to order something to go her nonchalant response was that she could just run it again. I've thought about that experience. It felt so off and I would have said something more at the time but again I was having breakfast with a friend who was going through something. Not the time to complain. So when I met someone who worked there at a diffrent event. I shared my experience and asked if this is a policy of there's to put a card on file to eat on the terrace. As you can guess it is not. Unfortunately, as you can imagine I felt discriminated against. I guess our waiter assumed I wouldn't pay my check and wanted to make sure he had my card and he swiped it as soon as he saw us take the last bites on our plates. After I talked to this employee I did write the restaurant to let them know of this experience and sadly I got no reply. I will say I have been back since then and did not get treated that way. But I felt like it's important to let others know. This is by no means a cheap restaurant especially in the economy! I would expect not to be made to feel the way I felt that day and would never want at one to feel that way. Benefit of the doubt maybe that waiter did have someone run out on his check in the past and wanted to ensure it did not happen again. I can understand that because I know some restaurants make the waiter pay for those walkouts, which is also not fair to them. It would have been nice though that when I contacted them about the situation they would have acknowledged what happened. And maybe just better training on how to go about the situation to make sure their customers don't feel like you assume they are criminals. Okay the food. First there French fries are a favorite. Random I know but I appreciate a good fry. The steak was cooked perfectly and the cocktails were got were a 10! I've had food from the breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu. The food is farm to table and I love sitting either outside or by the open kitchen as you watch the chefs cook. All and all I say it's worth going even for a cocktail. Sometimes they have live music playing and it's super cute for a nice date night. They do valet parking and have tons of charging stations.
