Amazing little diner, incredible food and service, eggs were perfectly scrambled, sausage was salty and delicious, and the home fries were on another level, soft and savory. The interior of the diner was in very good condition, mostly original from 1952, and was well decorated and festive for the Christmas season. Recommended. read more

My son claimed that his banana/chocolate chip pancakes were the best he eaten for a long time. My experience was somewhat different. First my order was mixed up: instead of grilled chicken Greek salad wrap I was given a buffalo chicken wrap. It was bad: the inside was basically a somewhat spicy soup of ingredients with not real texture or taste. You guys need to go easy of liquid and worry more about ingredients. read more

A fun place to eat; a classic Hudson Valley diner. The staff is friendly, yet for two meals (afternoon French fries snack and New Year's Day breakfast), the young male waiter had no sense of when we were done and repeatedly and intrusively asked to clear the plates before I put my fork down. The fries are amazingly delicious; crunchy, firm golden outside with moist inside. The morning French toast was a beauty to behold but mushy and not fully cooked in the center of the slice. The marbled rye was perfectly toasted for the patty melt, but the tuna had too much mayonnaise. And with the bulging tuna, the sandwich needed another slice of cheese. I'll appreciated the double entry of prices for cash or credit, the latter requiring a 4% increase in price. I'll be back because the ambiance is lovely, and I'll try the spinach pie, which is highly recommended. read more

I have eaten here before and been very happy with the food, service, and the cute originality of the diner. My second visit was disappointing, with just okay food, adequate service and the same quaint atmosphere. We were charged for hot water. I eat out a lot, including other diners, and never have I been charged for hot water. We were not informed by the waiter that there would be a charge for it. Also, the food was not as good this visit as the first time. So on to another place that isn't nickel and diming me for water. read more

Stepping in here to the old fashion atmosphere definitely adds the vibe. We've been dining here for a couple of years on occasions, and happened to stop here with my family and friends. A weekday vs. weekend can play a role in how crowded it can be, but when we visited on a weekday for a late lunch, not many customers. The food we ordered came out within 15 minutes, while everything tasted as we expected. I'm really impressed with the fries as it's not just crispy, but instead providing a load of flavor on the potato. With a return visit, it seemed to me that some of the prices have gone up a bit, no fuse though. There's a wild price discrepancy between their online menu prices and the printed menu in the diner. That aside, the food is only mediocre. They don't believe in cooking with salt. Mysteriously, my card was charged about 1.25 more than their terminal showed me, including the tip I added. So it looks like they might have a hidden credit card processing fee. I am always attracted to these old beautiful diners. the staff attentive, the place clean, the menu overwhelming, it was busy and loud (that's to be expected) the prices did seem to be a bit high, but iF the food is good it really is not an issue.. so here we go after much looking and looking again at this bible of food listings I was able to choose, THE GREEK SPECIALTIES now this has to be tops I think, ordered spinach pie (alias spanakopita) or so I thought, it was accompanied by a Greek salad , the pie was drained frozen spinach in a filo wrapper, dry and flavorless , not even salted, the dough soggy, OMG the specialties, the salad was well made and topped with lots of feta. my friend opted for breakfast (it is now 12 PM ish) I thinking bad move this late in the day, a cheese omelette (cant go wrong) it looked like a yellow closed cell sponge color and texture(maybe frozen or prepacked egg mix) dry and over cooked, it was filled with plenty of cheese, it came with some potatoes that were translucent, greasy, brittle. we were so disappointed after all our expectations. I suggest that you do try this wonderful icon of history, maybe ask some of the locals what to order. read more

A real old-fashioned diner with excellent food. Something you see out of a 1950s movie. You expect to see Danny and Sandy and their friends hanging out inside! Really good burgers and salads. It's small inside but I love how it is authentic and original fixtures and design. Right in the heart of Millbrook New York. I've been here several timesI never have been disappointed. Waiter ruined the experience. inattentive and just plan rude. Food has been going downhill in the last years too. My girlfriend and I ordered the exact same sandwich. Hers was full of stuff mine was to slices of bread with hardly anything in it. I ordered mine without fries she ordered fries. Check came and they were the same price! Booths and tables to close to each other, it's so close your having conversations with the people 3 tables in each direction when you don't even know the other customers. The service is horrible especially the young Hispanic waitress and American young man waiter with blonde hair and glasses. The Tattoo waitress was the best waitress ever she got everything the other two couldn't handle. There were no free refills on soda that wasn't explained to us until the cool tattoo waitress came over to let us know why. They serve French fries with hamburgers and cups and bowls of Chili but couldn't figure out how to make chili fries when I asked if they had any. The Latina waitress couldn't figure out what I was asking since it wasn't on the menu. The Tattoo waitress had to explain I would have to buy the fries and the bowl of chili separately and mix it together myself. I said if I have to do it myself it wasn't worth it they could have done it for me and charged me for 1/2 cup of chili. They can't handle special orders off the menu. Hamburger was good but same issue if I wanted Mustard Ketchup and onions instead of lettuce and tomatoes it was an issue because it was an off menu item. I'll go back as a last resort but there are plenty of other places around that can do much better even the local dive bar. read more

The Millbrook Diner is worth travelling a few miles from the Taconic on your way to wherever. It is clean, friendly, and has the best pie in six states. Aside from your regular diner stuff, the pies are worth the visit. Actually, the waitstaff is pretty funny. A great place to visit, and a greater place to have a meal. We'll be back. read more

Millbrook is one of my parents' favorite towns and a place I visited a few times growing up, so when a recent road trip took my wife and I past Millbrook, we knew we had to stop for lunch, and the place that my Mom recommended stopping was the Millbrook Diner. We arrived just in time for brunch and were excited to give this place a shot. As you pull into the parking lot, it's easy to tell that not much has changed with this diner over the years, and that's a good thing in this case! The diner's appearance alone makes you feel like you've stepped back a few decades into small town America. It's small and charming, and there are still those old-fashioned music players at every booth (I'm sad that so many diners around Long Island have taken these out, even if nobody ever uses them). When we walked inside, the servers let us know that we could sit anywhere we like (there are maybe around a dozen booths and some counter seats available) and handed us some menus. My wife ordered some stuffed mushrooms while I decided on some pancakes with local maple syrup (an extra $3, but you get to take the bottle home) and a side of eggs. We both went simple on the drinks and just got some waters. Honestly, the food was really good! The quality of the eggs and pancakes were both excellent (what you'd expect from a diner but maybe slightly better). My wife really enjoyed her stuffed mushrooms as well. And I have to say that the local maple syrup was a terrific choice! If you come here and order pancakes, french toast, or waffles, I'd recommend you do the same. From the small town charm to the delicious food and the friendly service, Millbrook Diner will make you feel like you've stepped back into a simpler time. Yesterday we ate a mid-afternoon main meal there and it was a very positive experience. It's a "classic" diner and it opened way back in 1929. The current owner - who was very friendly - has owned the diner since 1991. The food was delicious (I ordered the vegetarian lasagna, which came with either a small salad or a cup of soup [I chose the Manhattan clam chowder and it was the best I've ever tasted; it was wonderfully creamy] and my husband ordered something called Debbie's avocado melt [which included turkey]). Extra points because the Millbrook had bread pudding (my "obsession" dessert) and it was very tasty. The prices were reasonable (especially the lasagna, which was a bargain) - and everything was very clean, including the restrooms. Our server was rather perfunctory, although not unfriendly. read more

Millbrook Diner is a charming throwback to the diners of yesteryear; a gleaming metallic tube smack dab in the middle of the main drag, with cheerfully-painted Christmas and holiday cartoons happily glazing the windows. Nostalgia is instantaneous upon looking at it. This is definitely an "it is what it is" diner when it comes to the quality of the food served. I was not expecting thick-cut, wood-smoked bacon served with organic beefsteak tomatoes, organic romaine, and a chili-garlic-lemon-thyme aioli served on 384-grain ciabatta bread when I ordered my BLT. It was lettuce, tomato, bacon, and a smidgen of mayo served on toasted whole wheat bread. It filled me up, along with a side of delightfully greasy fries. I was full and content. I don't go to diners expecting a five-star meal. I go to eat. I did. I was happy. I was charmed. I will come back. read more

Unfortunately this is probably my favorite greek salad anywhere around here, so they've got me. Can't say much about the remainder of the food.
