stopped by the other day at 330pm to get out of the cold. I was pleasantly surprised. while the menu is not extensive, it has plenty to offer. The place is very old fashioned, and very clean. it was just me an a group of 3 at another table. While i waited for my food, i looked around. Juke boxes at the tables from the 60's? an old fashioned working pay phone booth. ITs like a museum. My food was great. Gyro with zucchini fries. Super crispy, not limp and greasy. Great cole slaw and tzaziki. i was stuffed. the waiter was super polite and friendly. Nice small town. worth a visit on a rainy day. read more

We will NEVER go back! Ever. We were meeting friends and running a little late (10 minutes). Well, they were seated and as they waited for us the owner began harassing them because they were taking up a whole booth. It was so bad, they finally said they would leave; then the owner changed his mind. The waiter was very scattered and took too long to come back to our table when wanting to order dessert. Also, asked how the food was...as he was putting our plates down. But that can be fixed. The food was mediocre at best. And in my case, it made me sick. All I had was an overpriced salad, and ended up being sick for the rest of the night. I have eaten at hundreds of diners in my lifetime...this one is one of the worst. read more

I will not eat here again. Just watched a waiter in the kitchen eating above a plate of food with no gloves, licking his fingers than bringing food out to customers. The cooks, owner and other waiters just watched, did not care so this must be the norm. read more

Very old school tiny diner in the beautiful town of Millbrook N.Y.. I split a gruyere cheese omelette with spinach and mushroom which was cooked to perfection with my cousin with am order of strawberry pancakes that were light and delicious. The hash browns were wonderful I can't explain it. They were chopped up nicely and seasoned well and not greasy. The wheat bread tasted home made. I'm sorry I don't get to Millbrook often. This is the best diner breakfast I had in a very long time. read more

this 1929 modular diner has a great and friendly waitress. We had eggs and rye toast and home fries and fruit and it was all delicious.

We just visited the Millbrook Diner and was served by the nicest young man named Kyle. He was outstanding! He was not only friendly and engaging, but also gave us excellent service. Our meals were served quickly and was very hot. Great job! He also commented on the motorcycles we drove on and was very knowledgeable about them too! What a well rounded young man. Jeez, I wanted to love it. Truly. The decor is AWESOME, exactly what you want in a kitschy diner. The Christmas decorations in the windows were sublime. The food...yeah, not so much. I had Yankee Pot Roast. I knew better...and yet I just had to go there. It came in carved circles that were suspicious. Like from a can...do they make pot roast in a can? And the green beans had been cooked back in the 50's and were the pale green color that screams "I have been cooked to bloody death!" There may have been mashed potatoes, but my subconscious mind has blocked the memory. I am grateful. One kid had the fried clam basket. I did not worry about her getting sick because these clams had been fried so much that no germ could have possibly survived. My son and husband had hamburgers and apparently they were cooked fine, as there were no complaints, a Christmas miracle. My glass of wine was a cab from Millbrook Vineyards...I am hoping it was an old bottle, stored badly, because it was swill. We didn't ask for dessert, why push our luck? C'mon!! The guy totally ripped us off and charged us $10 extra for our food! And he had a VERY bad attitude towards me and avoided conversation when I was asking about price and didn't even want to give me a receipt. I reread my rating and I'm surprised. Not sure what I was smoking when I wrote that. The diner is just a gross little diner like all diners. The prices are decent, they give giant portions, and the food tastes like you'd expect it to (nothing great). I wouldn't really come here unless I was really hungry, had a $10 budget, and nothing else was open. read more

brilliant. stopped in for coffee with Mom and we split a really delicious and surprisingly sophisticated breakfast sandwich made with 2 eggs, gruyere, and bacon on a croissant, about $7. Mom was sure she couldn't eat half of it.... until she tasted it, LOL, then I never got it back. WAITRESS WAS SUPERB ! loved her explanation of the candy man sign made of horseshoes. loved the real phone booth still in place on the way to the restrooms !!! I miss phone booths! I also loved the owner's description of Greece in the menu. coffee with unlimited refills was good diner coffee and woke me up as intended. taco salad going by to another table looked delicious. this place was just about perfect. good job ! hope I get to come back ! read more

A few months back I went there for afternoon breakfast and I asked for with my ham and cheese omelette a Coca- Cola. The waiter I got gave me Pepsi instead. I was really upset because I asked him if they had coke and he said yes. I was so agitated that i was almost tempted to go to the manager to complain. I mean sure people make mistakes, but when they lie to you like that it's not fun. The omelette was decent, but it was debatable if it was pre- made and frozen. If I go back there again and get that same nonsense again, I'll just stop going. I only recommend this place if you need a hot breakfast. Burgers and what not taste like they were frozen read more

Not to offend anyone who's a local, I'm sure this place has a lot of memories for many. I have to some it up in one word- 'Blah'. Maybe I will come back and order something better. Maybe the cooks were tired that day. But I've had much better food in much poorer towns. There's no excuse. I know it's just a Diner and not Peter Luger's, but I could have stayed home and made something better myself. I will give it another try for the sake of it but I'm in no absolute hurry. read more

As much as I would love to say this place is great, it just isn't :( I've been twice: the second time, I was hoping the first time was a fluke, but unfortunately both visits were mediocre. The service was pretty good, except that I received an omelet with fillings completely different from what I had ordered. The waffles weren't crispy at all, and overall every savory dish we had was really lacking in seasonings. I hate leaving bad reviews but unfortunately this diner just wasn't very good. Standard diner, maybe a little above average. The diner is styled very old fashioned, even having jukeboxes at the end of the tables. I usually won't order anything other than breakfast from a diner, but I really wasn't in the mood for breakfast food. The breakfast food looked really good though. I ended up getting the chicken fingers and French fries, which was really good, better than I would have expected. Service was just okay, a little slow. The prices were what you would expect, aside from we also ordered a kids meal for two toddlers that were with us. At first glance, I wasn't sure about this place. But this was a favorite of my grandparents so we decided to treat my grandfather to breakfast one morning. I was absolutely blown away by my portobello mushroom omelet! They also had no problem with me substituting egg whites in (it's noted that I would NEVER request substitutions but was on a post-baby diet). Great service, amazing food, I will be back! read more

I swear I saw Jughead eating a cheeseburger at the counter......I was waiting for Mel to stick his head out of the kitchen and yell at the waitress....... I digress. It's a diner, of the type that was common all over America in the 1930's through the 1960's. it's not a plastic recreation of the Acropolis or a chromed aquarium in tribute to Neptune and Ulysses. What a great piece of Americana this little place is! It's like stepping right into a time-warp. I believe you would have to go to the one that's in the Smithsonian Institution to see one that's better preserved. My son and I popped in for lunch after a local appointment, and we were both delighted by the mechanical coin-op juke boxes at each table, the chrome and stainless steel trim, the vintage counter and stools, even a working 1940's era clock over the kitchen doors. It doesn't try to be what it is; it isn't some effete yuppie's hobby. It just is what it is. Oh yeah, the food was good. Very good. Listen, if you're after a salad with organic baby greens, broiled snapper or baked salmon on a plank, this place isn't for you. We got Two very decent cheeseburger deluxes (that's with fries, pickle, lettuce & tomato for the sophisticated weekend urban gourmands who don't know what that is) and Cokes served ice cold on crushed ice in the old style glasses, for about $20 with tip. Since we live in the South there are no "real" diners like there are in the Northeast. So on a visit back home we went to the Millbrook Diner. It is not one of those big Greek diners with a fountain with a statue standing in the middle, but it is a legitimate diner. I had a turkey club which was great and my wife had a Reuben that was just as good. Grandpa had the tuna salad while the kids feasted on hot dogs and Mac n Cheese. The down side to the place was the service. We were one of three tables and our waiter spent the whole time texting on his phone while we waited for refills and the check. Try this place because the food is good and its a local establishment that has been there forever. Hopefully our waiter will be off when you go. read more

First visit to this diner. It would be unfair to say that they have the best diner food that I have ever tasted because it was as good a meal as I have had at any kind of restaurant. Their seafood bisque was exceptional as was the Pattie Melt sandwich with fries that I had. My daughter's Corned Beef Reuben was equally delicious. I plan on returning regularly. read more

Not impressed. Beyond the cool decor, this place doesn't really have much going for it. I certainly don't expect 5-star cuisine at a diner, but I do expect to be able to order a grilled cheese and have it turn out ok. As it was, my grilled cheese sandwich was soggy, and no amount of ketchup or salt could make the fries it came with taste better. The people I was with had breakfast food and said it was good, so maybe I just got the wrong thing, but honestly, how do you go wrong with grilled cheese? My husband and I have been here several times, for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Service was always fast and friendly. The food is what you'd expect from a diner. It's classic diner food, nothing more and nothing less. We like it! I enjoy their breakfast food, and love that it's served all day and night for that breakfast for dinner craving. The Pancakes and omelettes are always delicious, as well as the sandwiches we've tried (mainly the Reuben my husband enjoys). Portions are generous and the price seems fair. I'm really glad we have this option around, for a quick, low key, and good diner option that doesn't break the bank. read more

ZERO STARS. Worst experience I have ever had eating somewhere in my life. Came in this morning and was told I could sit anywhere. I asked the waiter, 'Are you sure I can sit at a table?' He said it was fine. I sat in a booth and before sitting, again asked if it was ok. Again I was, 'yes, sit anywhere.' Half way through my meal the owner Tom came by and said 'you can sit at the counter to do your work.' I was writing some notes for a deadline on paper while I ate. I said, 'When I'm finished eating, I had planned to leave.' He was angry and said, 'really, it's very busy and Sunday morning. You can't sit here.' Then he told the waiter to give me my check even though I was not finished eating. He continued to harass me after that until I felt sick to my stomach and did not finish my meal. It felt terrible, was humiliating, and completely uncalled for. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. read more

Very typical diner food, burgers, fries, sandwiches and "blue plate diner" types of dishes. Canned vegetables, maybe mashed potatoes from a barrel? Menu needs updating, and the prices are really high for what you get. We used to take the kids there because you can get grilled cheese, chicken fingers and soup, etc and nothing really fancy. It's nostalgic and quaint, but don't expect a fantastic meal that doesn't feel "industrial" - I'd say if you go there, go for breakfast - it's hard to beat the standard diner breakfast.
