Amazing spot to check out, especially after a nice hike! Both the smell when you walk in to the staff working, created a very welcoming environment. I ended up getting the steak sandwich w/ some of the best fries and garlic aioli. Only thing keeping me from 5 stars was the au jus, since it didn't have much flavor and was cold which I thought was odd.

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Amazing and so delicious. The service from entering to a quaint and simply decorated cafe. I was so excited. First time in the area and wanted to see this place. It is an experience to be had. I was hungry and I couldn't not choose two meals lol. Please support this cafe. It's worth every penny!

I have only fabulous things to say about Mountainside Cafe! The service is always friendly, food is delicious and the coffee hits just right! I always get the skillet breakfast, which the picture just doesn't do justice. You'll have to try it for yourself. The highlight for me - The vegetarian sausage is HOMEMADE!!!!

First time here live in the area. Staff were nice. Restaurant was pretty loud and it was busy but no one was waiting for a table. It took 20+ minutes for 2 lattes. Then later on we ordered two salads and fries... after waiting 40 minutes we decided let's just take this to go. Other tables were also waiting longer than we were and NOTHING was communicated by staff during this time. When taking our salads to go we drove 10 minutes maybe less to sit and eat. When I opened my salad, my dressing was in a paper box already leaking, the strawberries were pale and colorless. To make matters worse it was on the specials menu! My friend(vegan) found a piece of bacon and a pickled onion that was not supposed to be in her salad. No silverware packed and we were not told to get it either so she ended up eating with her hands. My fries were cold and hard. Do not recommend and I will not be going back. Very disappointed.

My 1st time in the area and notice this little placed tucked away as we drove through. Due to horrible cell service, I took a screenshot on my map so I wouldn't miss this place on my way back. All I can say is YUM! I'm supposed to be mindful of my eating, but hey, when you get old, sometimes you need to just live more and worry less! I had the Streusel French Toast, my husband had some vegan meat breakfast sandwich and a side of pancakes. Sorry I can't remember the name of his sandwich, but the fact he ate vegan and loved it spoke volumes! He is a true carnivore. So glad we got to try this place. I can't wait for another visit there. Everything was amazing. Keep up the great work. Hope too see yall again!

Third time being here in the past 3 years. Excellent food and great service from friendly employees. The breakfast is good and so are the lunch items. The grilled cheese with jelly is terrific. I'm hiking the Appalachian Trail and this place has some awesome calories. The cheeseburger is definitely a good choice as well.

Such a good meal. We were in a rush. If you're going to like rock, this place is awesome and right by you. Stop by for a great meal. The inside is really clean and neat. I wish I could've eaten inside. Nice ambiance. I got the beyond burger that was a decent price. Even to go it was so good. It was a nice pretzel bun. The top was a little charred, but still good. The sweet potato fries are money. Wow. The sauce it came with too yum. So good. About 10-15 min wait. Well worth it.

We ordered off the Prix Fixe menu of $50 for three courses. Starting with the very green potato leak soup, it was so tasty. For the entree, I had the Roasted steelhead trout, Trevino, baby leeks, chanterelles and trout roe butter blanc and the flavors were fantastic. For dessert, I ended with the "chocolate dessert," which was a brownie loaded with layers of chocolate and nuts - one of the best desserts I've ever tasted! Our server was terrific. He was so attentive and took great care of our party of four. I was impressed that he went into the kitchen to ask how the mushroom special was seasoned (just salt and pepper) in response to a question from our table. A very cozy place for dinner and I'm really glad we checked it out in West Cornwall.

ORIGIN: The Pink House opened during the summer of 2024 in a…read morered barn that is positioned on a lot that includes a striking late 19th century home that was once known as the Pink House. It is part of a sequence of efforts to revitalize and develop West Cornwall into a destination location. The current project is being spearheaded by Marina Munuz, who recently moved to the town with her family and has a background in the fashion industry. LOCATION: With a location just across the street from a red covered bridge, a burbling tree-lined river, and mountains, the town in which the Pink House is located has many noteworthy features that surely beckon a visit. ATMOSPHERE: The red barn-like building that currently houses the restaurant is surrounded by a patio with umbrella-shaded tables. The interior is filled with sunlight and simply yet eclectically decorated with a mix of modern and country furniture. Subtle touches of pink are scattered across the dining area, which is divided by a large pine community table. FOOD: I chose to try the smoked steelhead trout since it was a more uncommon item for brunch and a similar dish is offered as a first course on the dinner menu. Whipped egg white draped a long thick slice of lightly grilled bread. Topping the egg layer were chunks of salmon colored smoked steelhead trout, golden smoked trout roe, shaves of pickled onions, and dill fronds. A glass pot of Earl Grey tea accompanied the dish. The combination was perfection -- attractive, bursting with complementing flavors and textures, and interesting. After being surprised by the brilliance of this dish, I investigated who is leading the kitchen. I found Gabe McMackin, who returned to his native Litchfield Hills after many years working in a Michelin-recognized restaurant in Brooklyn (The Finch), is the Managing Partner and Chef. I look forward to returning during dinner service. SERVICE: The server, Krisdee, was very friendly and provided guidance on the new brunch menu. The only hiccup was that the hostess seated us at a narrow and relatively dark cafe table next to the kitchen service door. Given that the restaurant had one other table occupied (we arrived for brunch, for which service only started that month) and we had arrived one hour before closing, it seemed needless for us to be positioned there. (We later asked the server if it was okay for us to move to the empty community table, which we did.) TIP: The tea is served in a glass pot, for which there is no mechanism to remove the brewed leaves. As a result the beverage becomes bitter over time. If you choose to order hot tea and anticipate sipping it over the course of a relaxing brunch, I suggest asking for a large mug to pour the steeped liquid.

I love that you get unlimited refills on coffee ($2), which was actually quite decent by diner standards. Where else can you find that nowadays?! Eggs were well prepared and fluffy across the board. I loved that my veggie omelet ($8.75) came generously filled with sauteed mushrooms, sweet peppers, and onions. It came with toast and a side of either fruit or home fries. The multigrain, which our server disclosed was from a bakery in NY, was fresh, well slathered with butter, and far better than it had to be as a non-headline component of the meal. Home fries were beautifully seasoned, though I do prefer mine a little more browned. Fruit salad on our visit included a slice of melon, a few grapes and a slice of orange. Our eight year old got a children's meal with one egg, home fries, toast and juice ($4.50). She enjoyed her fluffy scrambled eggs, which she ate sandwiched between two halves of a generously buttered English muffin. My only nitpick: You could taste a touch of margarine in the eggs, which I personally detest. Still, the food was head and shoulders better than (and half as expensive as) anything you can find at Mohawk Mountain, where we are usually resigned to grub. We are so, so thrilled to find this sweet little place a hop and a skip away from the mountain. It's a perfect place to refuel after early morning ski practice!

I went in with the same intention but then I saw the Báladi breakfast. OMG, a lot of very very good food! My husband and our other friend also had the Báladi breakfast. It's a bit customizable in that you choose what kind of eggs you prefer. I chose the green omelet which is loaded with fresh dill. Hubs had scrambled with mushrooms, friend had omelet with onions. Everyone was more than pleased. For the table (hungry table, lol) we ordered the cheese boureka complet. Each entrée, shakshuka and Báladi breakfast and boureka, comes with a board filled with what I'd call salatim - mini-dishes with assorted items. There was Israeli chopped salad, green tahini, carrot salad (w cranberries instead of raisins), eggplant salad, frena (warm excellent mini-loaf of bread), and more. SO much food to appreciate and all made in-house, fresh and delicious. We're looking forward to visiting these friends again next summer and eating at Baladi again! Too bad we don't live nearby! The coffee is full-bodied, strong but not bitter, served in a large mug.
