I drove to Cairo strictly to try this coffee shop and it didn't disappoint! The shop itself is so cute with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. They also have a grab and go area with food, drinks, bagged coffee and merch. The staff is so friendly and helpful too. I tried their specialty Cherry Mocha Latte with sweet cold foam and it was fantastic - no overly sweet at all. All drinks are served with a small Madeline cookie, which was delicious. They also sell handmade cards and I decided to pick up one of those as the designs were so cute and funny. Highly recommend! read more

They may well have delicious things but I wouldn't know. After hiking near Ravena, I drove 30 minutes out of my way because I saw really good reviews. Their web site says they are open until 3pm. Their info on google says 3pm. I arrived at 2:30 and they were closed. I knew that by arriving near closing I could expect they would be out of some things and that was ok. But I didn't expect them to be closed. I specifically drove there to check the place out. They don't just sell baked goods. They sell coffees, lattes, and assorted bottled drinks. So even if there were no baked goods left they had products to sell. That's unprofessional and not how you run a business. read more

We stopped in on a Monday morning on our way out of town. I had a baguette with prosciutto and butter that was outstanding. My wife a ham and cheese croissant that was excellent. The coffee was rich and satisfying. The staff were very attentive and friendly. We'll be back for sure. read more

Finally stopped in after driving by a few hundred times over the past year, and I was not disappointed. Wish I had come by sooner. I got coffee and a croissant to go. The croissant was warmed and melted in my mouth. Coffee was the perfect temperature. The staff is pleasant and helpful. They put a mini madeleine cookie on top of my coffee -- it was to die for. I would go back just for the madeleine! I didn't stay to eat but the cafe looked cute and was quiet even thought there were other people there. we are heading back to the city after a staycation in wyndham and stopped by here for coffee. as some one who really values quality this exceeded expectations, priced extremely reasonably as well. the coffee is amazing and i never ever say that or write a review. for food me and my boyfriend got banana bread and the chocolate coissant. the croissant was good just a bit non traditional, it was good but compared to the banana bread... holy moly the banana bread was outstanding. can't recommend this place enough especially the banana bread and the coffee comes with a really yummy madeline :) read more

Stopped in to visit with family since the building was owned by previous generations of my family years ago when it was a general store. Heading to Dunkin Donuts, I pulled a U-Turn upon seeing this cafe. Feels very Brooklyn - Gorilla Coffee transplanted to the Catskills - but the magic is in the pastries! Awesome place. Been coming to this area for years now and it has always been difficult to find a good cup of coffee. We are talking real coffee, not Starbucks or Dunkin'. If you are looking for a strong cup of coffee made to perfection this is the place. I went twice a day, every day I was in town except for Mondays and Tuesday which they were closed. SO happy to have a place to get real coffee in town. (We lost Dalton's which had excellent coffee and then were bought out and replaced with gas station coffee. Dunkin is a mess, it takes 30 minutes to get a cup of coffee and more than half the time it's incorrect.) I think we're SO fortunate to have Red Star in Cairo now. Their coffee is on point and the baked goods are delicious. Looking forward to seeing what else they add to the menu because you know it's going to be delicious! As a local I stop here on occasion and am not a coffee snob. Gas station coffee is fine for me, but I will say the coffee there is delicious, and the baked goods are delicious as well. The Pistachio Croissant was so amazing that 'delicious' doesn't do it credit. I pass through Cairo when coming home from skiing at Windham, and saw this place while on a search for a place to grab a hot drink and a bite for lunch. Everything that I had (chai latte, pumpkin bread, chicken curry sandwich) was superb. The latte was perfectly flavored with just a touch of sweetness and a head of soft foam (plus a mini madeleine!), the pumpkin bread had a plush moist texture with a buttery streusel topping with just a hint of salt, and the chicken curry salad had chunks of dried apricot and golden raisins. Standard cafe fare like this can often be "just okay" at a lot of places. At Red Star, the quality is really a level or two above. The place is super cute as well, with friendly service; would love to come back again with my laptop and chill. read more
