Gracie's is a large space. The area to the right of the host stand and bakery area is diner/bar style seating and table seating is to the left. The restaurant has lots of windows which is great because it overlooks the creek. The service is quick and friendly. People weren't kidding when they said everything is made in house. The lemonade was fantastic. My brisket melt was flavorful and I like the fact it had fresh jalapeño's to give additional texture and flavor. The fries were thin and good - and the homemade ketchup was good. My mom had the chicken tenders and they are the best I ever had - I know, I know, how good could they be? Delicious. They are lightly battered, perfectly fried, juicy, and the herbs and spices come through. I'd come back to get my own order. On the way out, we ordered 6 different donuts which were so good and airy. To my surprise, the apple fritter was my favorite - slight crunch outside, good slightly chewy texture, and great flavor. None of the donuts were too sweet. I'll be back! read more

5/20/26: While staying in the area, we met another couple for lunch at Gracie's. Gracie's has that old style '50s dinette look on the outside. Think the inside could use an update. We had no problems getting a table. However, when we left the place was packed. We ordered Water, Lemonade, Ginger Ale, Waldorf Salad, Grilled Cheese & Bacon and Waffles. The menu had all the basics. The food was average. No complaints. My Waldorf salad was very plentiful. I took the remaining portion home. Customer Service was pretty good. The luncheonette has plenty of parking. Gracie's appears to be a reliable place to stop in for a bite. read more

My family spent several days at a rental home a mile or so from Gracie's and, naturally, had to give the local diner a try. Gracie's is an elevated diner experience...all the breakfast and brunch things you could want, but up a couple levels from a classic greasy spoon diner. Not dissing the greasy spoon diner experience...love that...but this is based in that historical experience, with an overall nicer experience in terms of food and atmosphere. Also, before we get into the specifics, here are 2 words which would bring me in from just about anywhere: Donut menu. Yes, they make their own donuts here, and that's enough reason to stop in, take out, or worship at the front door. We got our donuts to go after the meal...The coffee was GREAT. Too often, coffee, which should be the opening star of a diner experience, can be flavorless, browned water. Here it was good. Bold as I needed it to be, and the perfect foundation for the rest of the meal. My next go-to if they have it brunch experience is biscuits. They have them...you can get a biscuit on its own or, heck, go for a mini biscuit basket! I live for a biscuit-forward establishment. The Full Breakfast (submitting biscuit or potatoes for the meat) would have been my choice, but I decided to roll my own and ended up with a biscuit, fruit cup, and side of Hash Browns. The biscuit was good, large, and perfect with butter and honey. They make the hash browns to order - large hash brown patties - and with 2 different orders of them at the table, one was overcooked, too brown, and not impressive...but the other was perfect and delicious...bordering on potato pancake territory in presentation and flavor. Our server was fantastic...we had a large party encompassing 3 different tables in the middle of a Sunday morning (On Easter no less), which is, of course, the busiest time of the week. She was friendly, enthusiastic, and never made us feel rushed. If I found myself in the Hudson Valley again, Gracie's would be a definite destination for me. read more

One of the worst restaurant experiences in recent memory. Everything from the food to the service just seemed so off, so not sure where to start. Our sandwiches took nearly an hour. Wait staff never checked on us. When we flagged someone down to ask how much longer they said they'd check and never came back. I get that the kitchen can get backed up, but this is where you do "customer service" to make things better, not disappear. We had to flag them down again later to ask again. When we eventually got the food, it was mediocre and the fries were lukewarm and soggy. Ketchup had an off taste to it. Overall, definitely not worth the upscaled price. Overall, just a lack of attention at every level. Both bathrooms were a mess, and the men's room lock was broken. There was a visible spilled mess under the empty table next to ours that no one bothered to clean up the entire time we were there. The restaurant was only about half full and there were numerous visible employees, so just seems badly run without much care. read more

Gracie's is a great place for breakfast near Hudson! We wctually started with dessert (doughnuts) and the homemade doughnuts were so fresh. The Pecan Toffee Crunch was perfectly crisp and sweet and the Sweet Potato Pie was spiced and filled with this jammy sweet potato. Both were delicious! We had the monte cristo (French toast, ham, turkey, Swiss, honey mustard, and jam) which was sweet and savory. In addition, we had the chicken biscuit which had crispy chicken, honey butter, and hot sauce. Tasted more like buffalo sauce. We left feeling stuffed after carb loading for our hike. read more

The WORST experience I have had in Upstate NY. The servers were sweet, but unfortunately, the woman working behind the bar with eye glasses where we were seated was the reason we ended up leaving. We were seated directly in front of her for at least 20 minutes, and she never came over to us. I eventually had to ask if we could place our order, and her response was that no one had told her we were seated there. From that point on, she was extremely unpleasant and dismissive while taking our order. We asked for recommendations, and she simply said, "Everything is good here." What really stood out to me was that I watched two other parties ask her the exact same question, and she was noticeably sweeter, more helpful, and enthusiastic when recommending things to them. She also didn't even bother walking up to us to take our order, she stood by the computer to put the order in. I understand that it was busy, but when another party was seated right next to us, she served them almost immediately and with a completely different attitude than she had shown us. The difference in how we were treated compared with the other customers was so noticeable that I genuinely began to wonder whether race played a role, especially because the customers she was particularly warm and attentive toward were white. We paid for our donut and drink and ultimately decided to leave because of the experience. The food and the other servers may have been fine, but the way we were treated made the entire experience extremely uncomfortable. We were there for about 2 hours. When we asked for the check because we wanted to leave she didn't even bother asking why, or what happened. Honestly, this was one of the worst customer-service experiences I have ever had. Which was so disheartening because everyone else had been so sweet everywhere we went read more

We were on our way home and needed to stop for breakfast. Gracie's Luncheonette came up as close by. It turned out to be a great call to stop and eat there. They gave us a window seat with an amazing view. The food was really good and the service was great. My husband had the full breakfast and I had the waffle with berries and bananas. Before we left, we bought donuts that they sell as well. Amazing! read more

Wow, just wow. Gracie's Luncheonette is a gem of a restaurant. With a super fun and innovative menu--and food that delivers on incredible flavor, I was super impressed. The French toast sticks are 9 out of 10-crispy and absolutely delicious. The hash browns with roe and crème fraiche and a side of lox was also super tasty from 8 out of 10. So so so good. This review is for take-out donuts. Wow, totally worth the price and visit. Are they hipstery? Are they too much? Well, I live in Brooklyn, so I guess to me, they are regular donuts! Anyway, the family selected chocolate sea salt, strawberry sprinkles, cookie dough, and apple fritter (for me - I was trying to decide between that, the classic Boston Cream, and a maple bacon long john. The gentleman doling out the donuts said - do the apple fritter. Super fresh and will melt in your mouth.) I did not taste the kids donuts, but I loved my fritter and a bite of the sea salt (spouse choice) was quite tasty. The fritter had a lot of apple in it, so it felt 5% more healthy. :) They are also pretty big, so it took the kids three attempts to finish them. We will definitely visit again - and maybe try real food next time! read more

Three parties just stood at the Hostess stand when there were 4 visible empty tables for 15 minutes. The entire staff walked by multiple times and wouldn't make eye contact with any of us. A simple, we will be right with you would have been fine. Ultimately we all just left. Bizarre. read more

We couldn't have imagined a better place to host our 28-person wedding rehearsal dinner than Gracie's Luncheonette. From the moment we first visited and fell in love with the Fancy Hashbrowns, we knew we wanted to share this special place with our closest friends and family. They absolutely delivered. The food was phenomenal from start to finish. The biscuits were unforgettable, the deviled eggs disappeared almost immediately, and the fried chicken and brisket were some of the best we've ever had. Every single guest raved about the meal. Dessert was the perfect ending, with an incredible selection of pies, especially the key lime pie, which was an absolute standout. The cocktails were equally impressive: thoughtfully crafted, perfectly balanced, and delicious. What truly made the night special, though, was the hospitality. The entire team took such incredible care of us, making sure everything ran smoothly and that everyone felt welcome. Even though they normally close at 7 p.m., they graciously allowed us to celebrate until 8, never once making us feel rushed. At the end of the night, they thoughtfully packed up all of our leftovers and pies so nothing went to waste. Planning a wedding comes with so many moving pieces, but Gracie's made this part effortless. They created such a warm, joyful atmosphere that allowed us to simply enjoy the evening with the people we love most. If you're looking for a place to host a special event, or even just an amazing meal, Gracie's Luncheonette is truly something special. What a lovely and unknowing location! My husband and I seeked out a drivable brunch place so here we were and it was great. We got seated right away, staff were pleasant and the location was ultimate. The Bloody Marys were spicy and decently strong. I had the chicken fried steak and asked for poached eggs. Unfortunately this was where they lost the star as the eggs were basically hard boiled and I look forward to runny eggs. My husband had the brisket hash and ate every bite. We also got 4 large donuts on the way out. Wish they gave us 2 boxes as the donuts are so big they smeared the frosting all over the inner lid of the box. Will definitely return! read more

I tried to go to Gracie's today with my husband and 2 toddlers. They quoted me a 25 minute wait, which turned into 45. Fine. We sat down, it took 10 minutes for someone to give us menus and then they proceeded to tell us the wait time for food was at least 40-50 minutes which was infuriating especially considering a chunk of the tables were empty and they never told us that when we put our name down. With 2 screaming, hangry toddlers we had no choice but to get up and leave. This was beyond infuriating we committed almost 1 hour of our time waiting for nothing. They could literally care less that we left. So infuriating! read more

Was staying around the corner at the Camptown and popped in here for a quick lunch before heading back south. Had to wait a few minutes to get seated even though a lot of tables were open, but was well worth it. The chicken in the fried chicken sandwich was so juicy and perfectly cooked. The donut was really tasty and soft, and was not too greasy. The waitress was so sweet and gave us a free homemade soda (their sodas are all homemade and the cherry cola is delish). I've been wanting to visit Gracie's forever and I finally got the chance! Needless to say, it totally lived up to the hype. I went on a Sunday morning with my boyfriend and we were sat immediately. It's such a cute spot and looks like a classic soda fountain. Their bakery case is the first thing you see when you walk in and it's filled to the brim with delicious donuts and baked goods. We started with a hot coffee and an iced coffee with their pumpkin cold foam. Both were fantastic! For our meals, I ordered the brisket hash with a homemade biscuit and my boyfriend got the full breakfast with an everything bagel. Both dishes were incredible! The hash was absolutely delicious. Our waitress was so kind and attentive - literally everything about our visit was perfect. I also ordered a slice of their pumpkin cake to go and that was incredible too. Highly recommend! read more

May be the best fried chicken I have ever had. Crispy, moist, well seasoned, and a solid house sauce. This place is a must.

Been here three times. Food was good. Always a wait, so always sit at counter. First time was a busy summer Sunday-two to three people behind counter, no one even makes eye contact or says a word for like 5 min. I was starving so I stayed. Very slow service. Gave it a second try thinking first was just a bad day. Second time after ordering- I hear one of the line cooks didn't show up. 45 min for a b'fast sandwich. Third and last time. One person behind counter who is responsible for brunch drinks for the entire restaurant plus serving the counter. Clearly overwhelmed. Not her fault-the second counter person didn't show up. I like the food, but this was my last time. Something is wrong with the mgt. it's hard to keep good people, but... something bigger is wrong that people don't show up. Three weekends and three no shows read more

This was so disappointing... We were here a number of months ago and the food and service were excellent! It was so good in fact that on our recent trip to upstate New York, we made it a point to drive an hour just to have lunch at this restaurant out of our way from our other plans. We waited well over an hour for a cheeseburger and a pulled pork sandwich. I can't believe this is the same place and I don't know if it will ever return to what it once was. Too bad this used to be a really good experience. read more

Made special trip to Gracies today based on previous excellent experience with the farm to table food, two years ago WOW how things have changed, not in a good way. Waited 30 minutes for table, we expected a short wait, but, when we were seated our waitress told us the kitchen was behind and it would take an hour to be served(it would have been nice to know that before we waited for the table. Long story short, an hour and 15 minutes later food appeared(an average tasting hamburger and pulled pork sandwich). Alot of apologies but no satisfaction . I do not recommend Gracies and will not return and I suspect others there feel the same. read more

A WONDERFUL AND DELICIOUS GEM! I am getting married in the area in 2027, so my fiance and I wanted to try some of the local restaurants and cafes. Gracie's is a beautiful, clean, and welcoming environment, but I must say I was SHOCKED at how delicious, curated, and creative the menu is! As a Celiac girl, I am used to having very limited options when dining out, especially in diners, cafes, and smaller towns. Not only did Gracie's have tons of gluten free options, but they BAKE THEIR OWN GF BREAD! I had the most delicious Tuna melt I've ever had in my life (they use actual tuna steaks, not the canned stuff), and my family and friends enjoyed items like the mac and cheese, biscuits and gravy, banana fritter, and other assorted baked goods. We loved our lunch so much...we went back the next day for brunch! And OMG, the magic continued. I had a Monte Cristo for the first time in almost a decade (it's never a gluten free option), and it was spectacular. We will absolutely be returning to Gracie's for our post-wedding family brunch. We would also like to have Gracie's cater breakfast for our wedding day! I cannot recommend this place enough. Thank you, Gracie's! read more

Sad to leave this rating as I have loved this place before. I went with a friend this weekend and we were seated and our order was taken promptly. Our coffee came out and it was delicious. And then our server disappeared. For an hour and a half. I asked another server if she could get our server and she said sure. Waited another 15 minutes and nothing. Went up front to inquire about our server and food and another 15 minutes go by. This is now at the two hour mark. Our food came out, our fries were cold. And my gluten free sandwich was served on a gluten button. When I tried to confirm it was a gluten free bun from the person who brought our food they confirmed it was but it looked different from the one I had previously. Another server heard her confirm it was gluten free, checked, and said it was not gluten free and took my food away. At this point, I don't trust the kitchen and I said to not replace it. The entire time the staff was pretty dismissive and only when we went to pay did they actually act like they felt bad for the service and the gluten mix up. We still have no idea what happened to our server as he never appeared again. read more

Really liked this place! This isn't just a diner. You can tell the effort, care, and creativity that go into the dishes. My wife had the Cobb salad. It was fresh, and you can check the photo. It's pretty much what you'd expect. I had the Gracie's burger, which was two patties, lots of carmelized onions, pickles, and "truck sauce." It came with nice, crispy shoestring French fries and ketchup. You might find it weird that I mention the ketchup. But it's homemade ketchup and it just might be the highlight of the meal! I am not a fan of ketchup, but this actually tasted like fresh tomatoes, and was pulpy. It just might be what the Barenaked Ladies call "Dijon ketchup." Check out the drinks list because there is a lot of interesting options. The sodas are also made in-house. I had the root beer, and my wife had something called coffee fizz. Root beer was good, the coffee fizz (strong coffee with seltzer) was very weird at first, but by the end of the meal, she had come around to it. I would definitely come back to check out more dishes. read more

What an amazing find! Truly enjoyed our experience and Gracie's. Beautifully decorated inside with a large pick of bfast items and donuts. What else can you ask for. Quaint view of the landscape towards the back of the restaurant. Seats large groups. Had the full bfast and #3 Buttermilk pancakes. Big farm-to-table feel. Tatsy indulgence without the inevitable crash you get at other places. Favorites were the biscuit and waffle, although wished the waffle could've been a bit crispier but thats just personal preference. We also took a maple donut to go-- so good. Staff on floor and bakery were very nice. Only qualm was that there was too much ice in the iced coffee with minimal pumpkin flavor. Otherwise, fantastic find! read more

As a travel agency owner and travel writer I concentrate on Atmosphere, Food and Serrvice. What's the one necessary ingredient to ensure that AF&C all work together? People. And Gracie's has them, big time. On a recent visiit, as some travel writers prefer, I sat at the counter. Lots of hustle and bustle, and then, Cheyenne approached with coffee and a large ice water, and a menu. It was close to lunch time (10:45am) and yes, Cheyenne smiled, i could order anything. An ongoing quest of mine is to find a real smashburger. The crispy edges, the medium-rare center, lettuce, tomato, mayo and a bun. that is soft and full of taste; okay, at least it doesn't detract. American cheese partially melted completes the package. A young man who appeared to do everything everywhere all at once behind the counter, A.J., approached with a greeting and more coffee. A.J., like Cheyenne, soon convinced me that Gracie's AF&C is the sublime creation of people. And these two members of the team are the very best, making a rainy Sunday brunch a total experience. Oh, the smashburger with partially melted American? My, oh my. read more

I really love Gracie's and am so glad it exists. The food is fantastic and, from what I can tell, almost everything is made in house - the bread, pastries, etc. And meats are sourced as locally as possible. The staff are super sweet and the ambiance is quite nice - like a somewhat old school diner that's been classed up a bit. The views from the back tables are beautiful. And the food is always excellent and reliably delicious. It also helps that it's always served with a smile AND they have fantastic cocktails. I love their Bloody Marys. They have definitely saved some mornings for me. This place is also perfect for families with children. They have top notch milkshakes, ice cream and super tasty burgers. Plus the addition of house made donuts, cookies and fritters really help make it a wonderful place to eat. Warning: it is not cheap. Despite the laid back old diner feel, the prices are not. But, honestly, you get what you pay for here. And I believe it's worth it - hence why Gracie's gets the 5 stars from me. read more

After a few pastries from @catskillmountainbakery, I had a lunch date for a post holiday, gut-busting lunch as usual. Gracie's is a great option when you are in the Catskill or Cairo area. Expect to pay more for the quality of preparation and ingredients. Lazy Devils (deviled eggs), a hot-stuffed pretzel (artichoke and spinach), shrimp & grit fritters, mashed potatoes with gravy, and a tuna melt with poutine: $81 including a few drinks and tip. Visited this after a wedding and after hunting for gems at the Livingstonville Creekside Market. This was based off the bride and groom's recommendation and they didn't miss! The donuts I got were fine, nothing mind-blowing. But the fried chicken sandwich was great. Really juicy and tender. Everything you could want out of a fried chicken sandwich. I'd love to comeback because they apparently do a lot of the butchering in-house which is always cool to hear. ORIGIN: Gracie's Luncheonette started off as a food truck and in 2016 expanded to a rooted location thanks to the acquisition and renovation of a once popular German-American diner (Koch's). Gracie's is led by two graduates of nearby Culinary Institute of America -- Allyson Merritt and Andrew Spielberg. CONCEPT: Given their background, it is not surprising to find Gracie's to be an elevated American diner experience, where condiments, beverages, and baked goods are made in house, and many ingredients are super fresh and locally sourced. LOCATION: Adding to the experience, Gracie's is off a country road in rural Leeds (population 377), and perched high above a creek. Despite this rural setting, Gracie's is a short swing off of interstate 87. AMBIANCE: A renovated neon sign draws passing travelers and residents to the diner. Inside, white walls display artwork, but the real attention grabber is what can be seen from the large south-facing windows. Here guests can get a picturesque scene worthy of depiction by one of the 19th century Hudson River School painters who once lived and worked in the region. SERVICE: With two car-stopping features, Gracie's is a popular destination. However, like many restaurants Gracie's has struggled with recruiting and retaining kitchen and service workers -- especially challenging in a rural town. A sign at the entrance (and their web site) called for applicants. During our visit, fifteen minutes after their 10 o'clock opening on a holiday Monday morning, there were only two servers, one of whom was also managing the growing number of customers waiting to be seated. As a result it took 40 minutes to receive our order. At that point, the interior of beef was tepid and not juicy, suggesting the dishes had been waiting for pick up for some time. FOOD: Thankfully it was possible to curb hunger with Gracie's donuts, which can be purchased separately at a counter dedicated to take out. These donuts were tall and yeasty, with significant flavor provided by the unique icings. I especially liked the lemon poppy seed and brown butter hazelnut donuts. Eager to compare a brunch dish I recently enjoyed at Norwalk's Tap Root, I ordered the brisket hash. My husband ventured to try country fried steak and eggs, something neither of us had experienced before. The brisket was cut into small rectangles and mixed with a similarly sliced preparation of potatoes, peppers, and onions, with two eggs crowning the dish. It was good, but not as flavorful nor generously proportioned as what I had experienced at Tap Root, perhaps it could be described as a dainty iteration. My husband's steak was a bit dry and chewy, but we both enjoyed trying the house-made biscuit that accompanied it. Strangely the sausage gravy that traditionally envelopes the dish was reportedly not available that morning, but the dish was offered nonetheless. To my surprise, my husband had scouted out information about the restaurant and knew to look out for house-made condiments. As a result he noticed that catsup was among the items not on our table and requested a taste. The catsup had a fresh, vinegary flavor. I look forward to experiencing Gracie's again and will look to arrive during a non-holiday weekday. Although our experience was not ideal, there were many indicators that suggest it was due to being understaffed during our visit. TIPS: Gracie's is closed on Tuesdays. Open through 3 PM other days, with extended hours on Fridays and Saturdays (closes at 7 PM). Local beer and cider are available, as are wine and cocktails. I look forward to trying the Orange Creamsicle on a summer evening. Breakfast items are available all day. read more

Super cute breakfast or lunch spot! We had a bigger group so got to try a little of everything which I much enjoyed! Love this place. It has a pretty comprehensive breakfast and lunch menu with am amazing arrays of donuts. I love their hot jelly wings, a bit southern and the hot jelly gives is a "thai" twist of sweet and spicy like sauce but not blatantly Asian. The loaded potato soup was superb and the elevated hash brown with smoked trout and salmon roe was delicious. Their chicken biscuit sandwich is always the right choice and I loved their version of fish and chips. More tempura airy battered fish than crumbly deep fried. Always get an array of donuts and share. Love their pistachio and the toasted coconut cream. They also had spinach and artichoke stuffed pretzel, which was perfectly for breakfast the next day. The donuts are worth a drive. Their texture is perfection. It is like a mad scientist successfully combined sugar with a cloud. And the donuts break apart as easily as a middle school romance, but with none of the drama. Our group split a dozen of these sugar glazed delights over a long weekend. After much research, our consensus favorite was Strawberry. It is the highest form of the medium, an apotheosis of breakfast pastry. Our most skippable is the Red Velvet--still excellent but it is a cake donut and not a yeast donut, so it lacks the airiness and lightness that set apart the others. Just add the stop into your GPS now. You can thank me later. read more
