Lovely little coffee shop in town with a whole array of pastries on display and also food for breakfast and lunch options. My friends and I only stopped in to get some coffee but everything looked very tempting. The coffee was pretty good and prices are amazing, considering we're from NYC and we haven't had well priced drinks in a while! It was so good that we came back the next day for more coffee!

Breakfast menu is 8-1130 and lunch menu is 1130-4. For breakfast, we enjoyed the whitefish salad toast (best white fish I have ever had) and the breakfast burrito (pretty standard; nothing special but still good). For lunch, we loved the brunch pizza. Super fresh homemade dough and really good quality cheeses and sausage. BONUS: They sell pints of Jane's homemade ice cream for $7. When we went, they had vanilla, lavender, lemon, killer chocolate, and peanut butter. We bought the vanilla and it was delicious! They also have to go boxes of other items, like Mac and cheese, etc.

Great little coffee shop serving elevated breakfast and lunch. The Cappuccinos were delish and the Adult Grilled Cheese Panini was memorable with just the right amount of rosemary flavor shining through. Will definitely be back to try more of the coffee selection and pastries. The Rhubarb cake was a highlight as were the attentive and friendly staff. Opportunities: More of a minimalist aesthetic inside which could use a little more decor and some eat-in dining ware for those wanting to sit and stay a while. Happy to see this place draw in a bustling crowd on a rainy day.

This tiny town has many things going for it, chief among them is a great gathering space in the form of a coffee shop. If you was great baked goods or small prepared meals or even amazing tea or coffee with excellent service, this is the place for you. Miniature savory or sweet pot pies to donut muffins create sharing options for a small group share.

Nice variety of dinner ideas at #athensrooster

A must visit for visitors is a weekend joy for locals. The homemade treats, soups, salads and more are happily served up by a friendly team.

A combination of prepared foods(like breakfast burritos and paninis ready to be heated), one of the best pizzas I've had in the hudson valley, a specials board of fresh soups/salads/entrees, and behind the counter baked goods&coffee - if there's only going to be one breakfast/lunch spot in the village of Athens, I couldn't ask for much more...and added bonus that there are options for my vegan and gluten intolerant friends(which are as delicious as the rest of the menu).

I had a wonderful meal at the Athens Rooster today: Murderer's Creek Pizza. The delicious pie included Chorizo, Marinara, Fresh Mozzarella, Parmesan, Oregano and Chili Flakes. It was my kind of spicy! The staff was extremely friendly and courteous, and my pizza arrived quickly (which pleased my empty stomach). The place was also super clean and the tables spaced far apart. I'll be back again and again, to sample their other offerings, that include paninis for lunch and breakfast burritos for breakfast.

Sweet little coffee shop. Service depends on who is working that day but the products and coffee drinks are consistency delish.

Incredibly bummed, especially seeing all the positive press around the quality and the sourcing…read morethey claim to approach business with, that quite a lot of the food being served was from SYSCO or another large similar restaurant supply vendor, ordered by the case and baked from frozen. Now first off, don't get me wrong, buying in bulk or sacrificing the quality of some ingredients to large suppliers like this is definitely a reality when running a restaurant. Even moreso in this day and age when ingredient prices are exorbitant. That said, it needs to be reflected in the price point. Pastries are arranged beautifully under cloches in the display case, but I could spot the premade, ready-to-bake spinach feta bistro (https://www.chefswarehouse.com/products/QZ119984/) or ham and cheese croissant (https://www.chefswarehouse.com/products/99971/) from a mile away. The avocado spread on the preassembled breakfast sandwiches is definitely the pulp from the 3lb bag from Chef's Warehouse too. I know that taste! All of that said, they had a few items in the case that I'm sure weren't from one of these big vendors. Which was great to see. My (yes, unsolicited!) advice would be to pare down the menu. Offer just a bit less so you can focus on the quality. Try and tap into some local producers if you can! That's one of the best things about the Hudson Valley... how much all the purveyors and markets and cafes support each other. It's clear too how much they care about the community. They're dog friendly inside. No WiFi to encourage people to chat with one another. Fine. I really want to see this place continue to thrive, it's just a bit of a bummer that a significant part of the menu including things that really should be fresh, aren't.

The lighting was a little odd but it is a cute concept. It's a renovated bank building so lots high ceilings and marble floors. It's technically two businesses: a sit down restaurant with European fare and a cafe full of flaky pastries and all the bon bons you've ever wanted. We did a little of both. We ordered a cocktail and bergamot soda at the restaurant (both of which were quite refreshing!) along with a steak frites that we shared. The fries were more like wedges which I liked and it also came with roasted carrots. Then, for dessert we popped over to the cafe for the brown butter bourbon and rye chocolate chip cookie! What a delight! So many flavors that I love packed into a dense cookie. YUM! Overall, Banque is a nice stop for some elevated dishes and treats in Hudson. Cocktail and bergamot soda

Talbott & Arding was chosen as our first stop on our girls' getaway journey. Tucked in the Hudson Valley, just an hour from the Berkshires, it was a sweetly energetic beginning to our day. We each chose a sandwich from the counter. My smoked salmon on focaccia was a delight. The bread, airy and light, beautifully happy yeast just bounding with lift, defying the constraints of olive oil which left my fingers gloriously glistening. I haven't had a focaccia as happy as that in a minute. Super thin radish, bright pickled shallot and fresh watercress all gave a nice vibrant touch. Ben's cream cheese couldn't possibly be creamier. And the delicate, silky, fresh, luxurious salmon... What a dream. So balanced. I filled my arms with goods- iberico salami, Aleppo chili oil, Blackstrap coffee beans, local chocolates, and an adorable Talbott & Arding puzzle. I'm sure I could have easily convinced myself to buy just about everything I laid my eyes upon. The cheese counter was an absolute work of art. It's clear that Talbott & Arding is a willing servant to the gifts of the surrounding earth and people. The homage it pays is palpable.
