I love to get soups, salads and sandwiches for lunch at Olde Hudson. The dining area has beautiful large windows and is flooded with daylight. One of my favorite dining spots in town. They also have an excellent selection of amazing cheeses, salamis and olive oils. I also purchase my fresh fish here for when I'm cooking at home or grilling outdoors in the summer. So happy they are my neighbor in Hudson! read more

Markets is great has some really great options and great meat. The cafe is ok, the service is a pain point. Ordered a sandwich waited a pretty long time, went and checked on it and was told to wait more. Waited some more after multiple people in front of me had been served, to get given a sandwich (after I asked again) that had been sitting out for around 20 mins bc no one ever claimed it (probably mine but name was way different and I even asked to make sure my name was still in the system the first time I checked). All in all I waited for 35 mins and they forgot my egg which I ordered with the sandwich. Sucks bc I really wanted to love the place. Understand it was a mistake but a simple apologie goes a long way (never got one , even went in to politely ask if my name was still in the system after I was finished). You get two stars tho bc I have gotten the steaks before and they are awesome, just wish the rest matched up. read more

This is a racist, classist establishment. I live down Warren St. & shop here occasionally. Manager has made a habit of only respecting myself, a Black person, when I am with/near my partner who is white. He was kind and hospitable until I began interacting with him independetnly. Since then he has genuinely been cold and avoidant, recently runninf me in circles for a job which he offered me months ago via Indeed. I am a barista with 6 years of experience, and I can't imagine any reason why he would "withdraw" if not for my appearance. Many employees are not well trained and there seems to be an emphasis on hiding the POC employees in BOH roles, this outside of apparently discouraging certain "types" from sticking around. Manager is socially incompetent and i have witnessed him behaving unprofessionally with both his own employees and customers of many creeds and on many independent occasions. He is rude and defensive and this seems to be the root of many of this business' issues. The team is not equipped for the amount of traffic it gets some days, and hispoor approaches to damage control stand out to anyone with or without experience in the industry. I would recommend Hudson Roastery down the block for similar quality food/drinks at a fairer price. At the very least, OH should be avoided for overcharging. read more

So disappointed. Had a mediocre sandwich for lunch. Went into Deli to shop. Purchased 4 cookies stating made in their kitchen and also a squash soup less than 2 cups totaling 20$. cookies were NOT made in that Kitchen.....maybe a slice and bake but dry and stale and the soup was watered down with no taste what so ever. Looking for a quick coffee on the block brought me over here on a Saturday afternoon. A nice covered seating area in the front and two doors leading to the market and café separately. Went through one door and was told to wait outside until the barista arrived (took about 6 minutes). While we were waiting we noticed the sign said to order through the website in advance. However we were able to give our order directly to the barista once she got to the door. For my order, decided on the Iced Coffee ($2.75) and a Cranberry Scone ($4.75). Coffee/Pastry was ready in a few minutes - good strength in the drink although it was mostly ice. For the scone, a flavorful buttery interior and a crisped outside. Seems like a nice spot on a normal day for groceries and pastries. Wouldn't make a special trip over but a cheaper option for breakfast on the street. read more

Sadly, it's one of those cases where it looks alluring and inviting + popular on the outside but the reality is they don't know how to handle the crowds, are sooo slow and super overpriced (but what isn't in Hudson!) therefore tensions run high all around. Soo loud in there too Bad energy emanating :( Also, the cafe layout is a poorly thought of... again, leading to disorder and short fuses. Got outta there asap. What a terrible experience! A friend and I stopped in on Saturday for a little pick-me-up while shopping Warren. We ordered two espresso drinks at the coffee bar. The woman behind the counter informed us that the barista had to unexpectedly leave or on break, and as such our drinks would take a minute. We said sure and proceeded to sit down to a table and wait. Soon after an employee circled behind the coffee bar and started fumbling around the espresso maker. We assumed this was the absent barista ready to make our drinks, but later learned he was the manager and I'll equipped at the espresso machine. It turned out that there was a large group order ahead of us which the woman who took our order didn't care to inform us about. And as such, the man was taking a long while to fumble his wait through the many mochas, lattes, cappuccinos of the surprise group before us. We passed the time chatting and planning our day. Twenty minutes in, I was ready to just abandon our coffees but before leaving, I walked up to the gentleman at the espresso maker and said "excuse me, we've been waiting quite a while for our drinks and I just wanted to see where we're at in the queue so I can determine if we continue to wait or come back later." Before I could even finish, he raised his voice at me - explaining that he was the manager and "it's not his job to make the coffees" and he was going as fast as he could. As you can imagine, I was startled by his aggressiveness in response to my simple inquiry. But it got even worse - the woman who originally took our order walked over and, without even hearing my question or having any context besides him yelling at me, reiterated that he's the manager and does not work the espresso machine etc. The approach of two employees hanging up on a customer, the tone of their language and honestly the whole interaction was appalling. I have NEVER been treated so POORLY in an establishment before as a patron and felt compelled to leave this honest review. On my very first trip to Hudson, I walked into Olde Hudson which I am regretful I ever did. After spending $80 on over-priced provisions in this shop, I stepped out to the food truck next door to grab a quick bite (I did not see an open cafe or lunch menu in this provisions shop for me to grab something to eat). The cafe had a "closed" sign on the door. Also Note: the outdoor seating was entirely empty, not a soul in site! It was a Thursday afternoon on 5/5/22. I sat down to enjoy a quick bite from the food truck after loading my provisions in my car. Never did I think I was doing anything wrong here. One of the staff members comes out to interrupt my quick meal to tell me to leave!!! My mouth dropped to the ground.. I had just been a generous patron- $80 again. I reminded the staff I just shopped in his store in case he forgot already, and he didn't seem to care. The. replied with "we don't allow any outside food, and if you got that from the food truck, you will need to leave". Just the audacity-- I was utterly appalled. I went back in the shop to speak to a supervisor and ask if I can then return the $80 worth of goods because of the poor attitude I received from staff and he said "no you cannot" and went on to chew me out in a nasty manner in front of other shoppers. I couldn't get a word in edgewise either. I've never been so mistreated, disrespected and humiliated as a patron in my life. I am a sweetheart to most everyone and every business I encounter... never have a problem with anything. But I cannot believe what happened during my experience shopping at this place. Something I will never forget on my first 10 minutes strolling through Hudson on what was supposed to be a nice, enjoyable time. Just destroyed by this business and had to share !! :( read more

Found here - select fresh organic produce and specialty items, espresso drinks and a lunch cafe. This place is especially for you: if you want a fresh, housemade lunch with gourmet touches, or picnic items like cheese and rustic pie. I visited the cafe and had soup and salad, and I could actually taste the quality olive oil on the salad in the dressing. It led me to buy a high quality olive oil, which I do not regret It's not the most amazing or diverse menu, and prices in the market are high, but everything in the market is thoughtful, and everything in the cafe is made with the high quality grocery items they carry. (I know this because, while making my oatmilk latte, the amazing staff person in the cafe told me about the use of the store's specialty gourmet items in the menu. This prompted me to give it 4 stars instead of 3, owner will note!). I will revisit for the good vibes, the peruseability, and the affectionate staff at the coffee helm. This market is perfect for gifts, when looking for specialty items, or gourmet foods for your pantry. I've left the market with asparagus only to find it soggy and rotted inside the bundle. There are no prices on about 90% of the items in the expansive (and expensive) market. A dozen eggs was $9. 4 strips of bacon for $12. It's clear this store is not for the people who live in Hudson. I echo a prior comment that mentioned the prices being insulting. Example: 4.5 slices of bacon for $11-12. I've raised Organically grown heritage pigs myself. Bacon, even really good bacon, shouldn't cost this much. We were in a pinch and chanced it. It was disappointing. I live less than a block away and have run in here for staple items - vegetable oil and the like - no dice. Only fancy olive oil. Even NYC weekender friends have said it's more expensive than a lot of places NYC. No price tags on items either and it feels very awkward to ask every time. The market is attractive. Having milk super close is nice. Service was ok nothing special. I have never tried cafe. read more

This place is an absolute insult. New York City prices, lousy portions and utterly unimaginative food. Went once six months ago and was not impressed. Decided to give it another chance since I live only a block away. Paid $10.80 for a tuna salad sandwich which I only chose because all but one other of their sandwich offerings were sold out. The sandwich amounted to nothing more than some canned tuna, unceremoniously thrown on a naked baguette with a few slices of cucumber. There was nothing salad about my tuna salad. WTF? Not sure why I expected more from a place that feels so utterly contrived. If your looking for casual lunch food, keep walking a few more blocks to Bruno's where the sandwiches cost the same or less and are works of culinary delight that will leave you wanting more. And if the adjoining market in this place is calling out to you, instead check out the Farmers Market for better more affordable produce. read more

Nice spot but the use of petrol plastic cutlery is inexcusable at their extreme price point. Plenty of margin for a bio plastic alternative. The salads are served in bio plastic but it's still excessively wasteful and hard to eat. Cardboard containers would be a better customer experience and better for the planet. read more
