I went back with a friend to our old college stomping ground for a nostalgic treat! The chocolate milkshake was great! But other than that the food wasn't as good as it used to be. I got the BLT burger, it was fine. My friend also got a chocolate milkshake and the reuben with onion rings and the disco fries. Disco fries are basically poutine. I particularly didn't care for the onion rings though. They were breaded in seasoned bread crumbs rather than a beer batter or any other kind of batter. The service however was wonderful! Our waitress was the kindest! She was super attentive, told good stories and asked us ours. She took our whole order without writing anything down and got it all right! Which is particularly impressive because we had order modifications, like my hatred for blue cheese! The place hasn't changed inside a bit, it looks exactly the same as it did all those years ago.

I edited the people out for their privacy.

My partner and I have been coming here for years and years, yet I've never done a yelp review. This is a great place. It's clean and large on the inside, with a good "diner vibe." The diner has even been featured on the Food Network show, "diners, drive-ins, and dives." All of the employees are extremely friendly and helpful. My partner is handicapped, and whenever we eat here together, they always go out of the way to make sure that she is comfortable. They do delivery, and for to go pick up, they also have a drive-up window. The menu is huge... Our two favorite things here, are the mac & cheese, the pasta is always done perfect, and the sauce is just cheesy goodness. We also love the chicken pot pie. The crust is flaky, , the chicken is tender, there's lots of goodies inside, and the gravy is delicious. The last couple of times I've eaten here, from the breakfast menu, I've ordered the baked cheese, grits, and eggs. Baked cheese, grits with bacon, chives, and two eggs to order on top... Dear Lord, that's a lot of food. The eggs are always done perfectly, the bacon is great, and they really make sure that there was a good amount of cheese mixed in with those grits. It is very rich, and very delicious. If that's not enough carbs for you, it also comes with toast on the side. I always finish it, but I always waddle away from the table. The desserts from their state of the art basement bakery (also featured on Triple D,) are top notch, no matter what you order. Another great thing, is the milkshakes! No matter what flavor you get, they are thick, rich, and you not only get the milkshake in a glass, you also get the metal cup that it was mixed in. It's almost like getting two milkshakes. For everything you get, the prices are very reasonable, and they even do a military/veterans discount. We will be back again and again. Thank you

Love the 50s vibe this place has since definitely feels like blast from the past since how gray box restaurants are these days. Plus they an old pay phone, such a relic. The service here was very friendly and was nice they made small talk here with you. For the food, my eggs were Perfect, ham steak Was lightly charred and so tender, wheat toast was lightly buttered and hash browns were seasoned but the usual elsewhere in quality terms. Only thing that tripped me up was cost of orange juice, not saying it was not fresh or delicious, just wish I noticed its price before ordering. Otherwise a great first try.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The prices were very reasonable, especially considering the generous portion sizes. The food was tasty, and the customer service was excellent--our server was incredibly attentive

    Just horrible

Ordered Cheesy Gritas and egg bake. I have had this dish a dozen times. Always great. My goto breakfast at this diner. It was soupy not at all baked. It also had no green onion. it was disgusting. Called the diner. They said nothing they ca do since I ordered from Doordash.

Love that they have breakfast all day! I had the malted waffle which is the best waffle I've ever had (granted, most waffles I've had were made by moi at hotel buffets with premixed batter and a timed iron.) Uniformly crispy on the outside, but not so crispy it was hard or burnt. Decor is classic 50s-style drive-in/diner. Waiter was nice...cheerfully made 5 separate checks for our table,

Ehh the food is never consistent it's playing roulette with the kitchen cook.. poor servers .. If you order the same thing you got last time it's totally different.. I get it it's a diner but what really good diners are known for is consistency with the food.. it's simple but I guess not here and the food is cooked poorly.. seriously it's not like there are many diner left in the area so I see how this place stays open .. it's cuz there is no place else to go .. sad Ordered lemon chicken with linguine.. it came out like squishy squiggles and undercooked clumps .. like really and you let that go out that is on the server I will attach a photo Ordered the spinach artichoke dip haaaa I will also attach pics and let you figure out what's wrong

When I saw that the Eveready Diner was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives... I was excited to give it a try. I am sad to report that the Ever ready has a cool 60s diner atmosphere with only average to poor food at best. On this visit we got: Avocado Toast - This horrific mess of a dish shouldn't be put on any menu. It consisted of two pieces of toasted white bread, a scant amount of avocado hidden under massive chunks of raw onion and tomato (the chef clearly doesn't know how to chop, let alone dice veggies), and absolutely no seasoning topped with a nicely poached egg. It also came with a side of breakfast potatoes which were soggy and devoid of any seasoning. (We asked for crispy potatoes specifically). Class Meatball Sandwich - Again a mess of a dish. The meatballs and a tasteless sauce that resembled marinara were situated on a round sandwich roll. The logistics of eating round meatballs on a sandwich bun with them all falling out, is not a fun experience. Why would you make a sandwich that is both tasteless and incredibly difficult to eat? The fries that it came with were fried nicely and were fresh. Diner Benedict - This dish was average, if not basic. The benedict itself consisted of a standard english muffin, hollandaise, and thin piece of ham. It was fine, but pretty bland and not something I would get again. The side of breakfast potatoes were again soggy, and devoid of seasoning. (Again, we asked for crispy potatoes) Frittered French Toast - Finally! The fantastic dish I was looking forward too. The perfectly cooked and seasoned french toast paired exceptionally well berry drizzle and cream cheese that topped it. Really tasty! The service at the Eveready was good! Friendly and attentive staff all around, good job! While I will definitely not return, I gave the Eveready two stars simply for the staff and the Frittered French Toast. Otherwise the rest of the menu we sampled was pretty terrible.

Great parking, close to fdr home -culinary institute. Fun retro feel and better than usual diner food. We loved our meals. Server was fantastic, would definitely return...

Can't believe this wasn't listed on Yelp before!

My best friend, Pots & Pans, and I stopped here yesterday for breakfast. It had been highly recommended by friends Paul and Gloria. Eveready is a classic diner, with lots of stainless steel, memorabilia, and kitsch. But you can't eat that, so on to the food.... I don't usually order French toast or pancakes, but the CBH was from a can, so it was bananas Foster French toast for me. For P & P, it was pecan / blueberry pancakes. We also split an order of sausage. My French toast (challah bread size) was amazing. The bananas were in a carmelized glaze, absolutely delicious in their gooeyness. My friend's pancakes also hit the right notes, and the sausage was the bigger type that is prevalent in the best NY breakfast joints. Coffee was also excellent and bottomless. And our server, Suzanne, a 17-yr veteran of Eveready, was so attentive, so nice...she treated us (and her other customers) like family. One last thing...Eveready has been in business at this location for decades. They've received over 2,600 Google ratings. Not sure why I had to add Eveready as a "new business" on Yelp. See screen shot. Overall 4.5 stars (half-point deduction for not making their own CBH). Rounded to 5 stars. Highly recommend.

Definitely a pricey option, but the food portions are enormous so most entrées are definitely shareable. Just remember to tip appropriately if you are sharing. My son and I each ordered an entrée which easily could have fed two more people. We took the leftovers home and heated them up for supper that evening. Don't bother with the customized soda options. Very pricey and definitely not worth it according to my son. Otherwise, look for daily specials My bill was very expensive because I took home two large desserts for our Easter table: lemon, meringue pie, and a plain cheesecake The lemon meringue pie looked glorious until I realize they smashed it to fit it into the box. A very big disappointment since the meringue was completely flattened and the pie had to be served with a spoon. Dollars. They need a deeper box. The plain cheesecake was significant and large enough to serve 12 to 16 people depending on the slices. At $50, it was definitely a splurge. Not as good as my homemade one, but it was a hit nonetheless. One of our guests asked if there was marzipan in the cheesecake. That is definitely something to ask about if you have a nut allergy.

My friends and I were visiting the nearby Vanderbilt house and when I looked at CIA there was a 11:45 am opening left at Bocuse and I snagged it. CIA students alternate between doing the cooking and doing the serving at the CIA restaurants. Since we went in February, it was $30 each for a three course meal. It's $45 starting in mid April. We started off with freshly baked rolls and artisanal butter which was delicious and they asked us throughout the meal if we wanted more. For my first course I chose the garlic and butter drenched escargot which was deliciously marinated. Then I had the chicken in cream sauce with potato purée. Delicately delicious. And lastly my four layer chocolate in a glass had different chocolate and other flavors at each layer point. Overall a feast for the senses. Our student servers were charming and patient. They answered all our questions about their study. I look forward to trying additional CIA restaurants- they have Italian, New American and more. La Bocuse is a must try next time you're in the area.

Although Poughkeepsie has a decent variety of excellent restaurant options, there aren't a lot of upscale places to select from. We opted to book reservations for Brasserie 292 for a Saturday night. When we arrived, we were nearing the end of the dinner rush. We were sat right away, unfortunately it wasn't all too romantic being sat in the middle of the restaurant but understandably the restaurant is on the smaller side. The waiter was attentive, and addressed any of our questions about the menu, even hunting down the bottle of pinot noir we ordered. We opted to start off our night by splitting a half-dozen oysters which came with their in-house hot sauce, and an order of pouple, which was cooked to perfection. For our entrees we selected the red wine braised lamb shank and the dry aged prime NY steak. Since sides for both entrees were not mentioned on the menu, we also ordered sides - wild mushrooms, brussels sprouts and crispy smoked peewee potatoes. Overall the food was excellent and I'm still dreaming about the mushrooms. If we lived locally, would we go back, maybe but overall we had a great experience. Since this was an upscale restaurant, I opted to not photograph our meals and enjoyed being present in the moment.

This was also accompanied by a plate of mashed beans, something I've not seen elsewhere. Shortly after we were seated, I did notice one of the waitresses taking photos of our very large group (20+) on her own phone - not on the behalf of one of us - and I have to wonder if it was for the restaurant's social media, or something else. My chicken fajita platter came with steaming warm tortillas, more than I've typically gotten at other Mexican restaurants, and a separate plate with huge quantities of the fixin's, including a sizeable amount of guacamole. All that plus lots of beans and rice as well. This is a nice reboot from the brewery that was previously here.
