Pretty much a quintessential diner experience. Huge menu. Fair prices. Great pies and cakes. And neon. The only thing missing were the little table side jukeboxes! (There was an old jukebox in the lobby, though!). We had already eaten dinner but stopped in for some tea and dessert. We received a very warm welcome and great service. I got the chocolate layer cake. It was very good, not too sweet, but chocolaty enough. The only downside is that they (have to) keep these desserts in a refrigerated case and they get dried out a bit depending how long they're in there. This piece wasn't too dry. We also got a peanut butter cookie and a hot chocolate. I wanted a chocolate chip cookie but they were out. The cookie was too sweet for me. My wife said the hot chocolate was delicious. This is a dependably friendly place to hang out. It is an old-school diner in the best Greek hospitality tradition. They let me sit there all day and read and write. Servers teach me Greek expressions, or try to. It's someplace I can go any time and eat and hang out in peace. If they were still open 24/7 I would be hanging out there at 2 am. As the Gluten Avenger, however, I only Yelp about gluten issues, and I am happy to say that Broadway Lights is accommodating, intelligent about the issue, and have many options available. This place is a gem, reminds you of the old time diner with home cook meals. The portion is huge, came here twice in a row, weekend brunch special morning glory comes with coffee. We ordered food from this nasty diner and found this in our tray, when we called the woman on the phone was not surprised whatsoever and wh we went back to get our refund the man said they called an exterminator.... while there was people actively eating in the restaurant while everyone who works there knows about this issue. We had breakfast here back-to-back on our trip to Catskills. As far as diners go, Broadway Lights hits the nail on the head. Not too fancy, just solid tasting breakfast. Service was fantastic - our waitress was good about frequently checking on us for more coffee or anything we needed. Can't say you get the same attentive service at even Michelin restaurants. My favorite thing here are the buttermilk biscuits. They are done to perfection - the secret is placing the cooked halves on the griddle for a few seconds to make it ever so slightly toasted. My fiancé and I came here before going on a hike in the Catskills. We were both famished, and Broadway Lights Diner & Cafe did not disappoint! I had the Stuffed French Toast with cream cheese & topped with strawberries. I also had an egg cream. Both were amazing and filled my stomach up quickly. First time visiting this diner. Only one waitress who was very kind and pleasant. I ordered the breakfast special - 2 eggs, home fries and toast. As with most diners, the coffee was weak but drinkable. The home fries were the best - very crispy bits of potato heaven. I would recommend this diner. I liked that there were jelly packets on the table - especially marmalade which is my favorite. The short wait staff was due to others calling in sick. We've been here a number times since my first review and the food and service has been very good. Sometimes the food comes out a little slow, but when you're there with friends and family who needs to be rushed. I haven't had the French toast since my first time here (didn't love it) but I've had omelets and lunch entrees since and enjoyed them. Yesterday I had the French dip panini...tasted great and there was plenty to fill me up, but the bottom bread got a little soggy. Also had fries with some gravy on the side and they were quite tasty. I've been a longtime customer of Broadway Lights; dine in, take out and delivery. Lately things have gone severely downhill and I do not recommend eating here. During my most recent dine in, the diner was pretty empty. We were seated directly next to a table of people having a bible study! We listened to bible versus being read and religious videos being watched. This was quite uncomfortable. I typically order from here because they offer gluten free options. I ordered a corned beef Reuben, 10 minutes passed and the waitress comes back to inform me they have no corned beef but offered pastrami instead. Another 5+ minutes pass and she comes back and tells me she does have corned beef but doesn't have gluten free bread but offers me a wrap instead. Gluten free wraps are not good so I asked to see the menu again and asked her what other gluten free options they had. She tells me wraps and waffles are all they have so I ended up with a very terribly dry unflavored waffle. Just as I chose the waffle, everyone else's food was done so they got served long before I received my food. The waitress says, "this must be a real bummer".....obviously, but she did nothing to compensate. Also, I placed a to go order and had to wait 10+ minutes after paying my bill because the waitress didn't put the order in I work uptown and we order delivery from here for lunch occasionally. The bill for delivery is always more than take out and dine in. We found that this place charges an additional fee for each take out container! We decided our office will not order take out any longer. Just a really awful customer service. read more

This place rocks - it has that authentic, neon-lights diner vibe, with a bakery case at the front and classic booth seating. Service is super fast and friendly, prices are very fair, portions are large and the food is spectacular. I got the biscuits and gravy, and it was an amazing comfort dish, just what I needed on a cold winter day. The host sat us far from the other tables, and it felt covid-safe. Today, (Sunday) I came in for breakfast and was it bad. I had eggs, corn beef hash, potatoes and cheese skillet. Let me start from top to bottom. Cheese looked and tasted like cheap dollar store cheese, the corn beef hash had hard pieces and the waitress had the nerve to tell me that she just had some and it was made from scratch and it's fresh but you can see and taste that they used what was left from the week. The only good thing was that the food was hot, the bad part of that was the plate was hotter then the food which means it was put in the microwave to melt the cheese. You will never see me again and I will definitely tell all my friends and anyone who ask me where's a good place to eat to stay far away from this diner, I was also charged for the plastic bin to put the crap in which was 30 cent on top of the bill read more

My time in Kingston is up, and one thing I regret is not being able to try this place more than once. I went here one morning and had a very enjoyable breakfast. the pancakes were pretty good, nice flavor and good texture. the bacon and scrambled eggs were good, as was the toast. the only thing that was kind of a letdown were the home fries. they were a little on the bland side but they had a good crust on them. My dad enjoyed his coffee and eggs benedict. I really wish I would have tried a piece of pie, their dessert case looked amazing the place looked cool and seemed clean and the service was very good, they were quick on my water refills. definitely worth stopping in read more

Had I checked my YELP before we ordered, I'd never have come here, but we were starving and this place seemed quaint, and the closest thing we'd seen to a breakfast place. Terrible food and service, and both took way too long. What we got after our long wait was pitiful. My eggs benedict was too salty, I didn't dare touch the hollandaise sauce, since it was neon orange in color. My friend's blueberry pancakes looked great, but tasted like it was made boxed-mix batter and frozen blueberries. My other friend had a very bland omelette and an ok waffle, which was thankfully covered in whipped cream. I felt lucky to have my coffee refill since in the hour we spent there, we only occasionally saw our waitress. And the place was nearly empty. From the looks of things, this diner won't stay open for long. They should take heed and change their ways! read more

I suggest reading the reviews on yelp web that somehow don't make the app. Most of them are positive as will this be. I have had breakfast lunch and dinner at Broadway Lights. Initially I didn't like the area...that has too passed. This diner and bathrooms are amazingly clean..the service warm friendly and genuine. The food is is plentiful and tasty. I am hooked on their juevos rancheros fried calamari and chicken pot pie....I will continue to make this a stop for me and will also monitor and keep all posted ! read more
